Newbie + quick question - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently bought an unlocked tab s 10.5 att variant (i'm on tmobile). I tried to update to lollipop but it's not available. Is there anyway I can still update to lollipop without rooting? Or is rooting + flashing my only way to get lollipop? thank you for your help

How to update 4.1.1 t-mobile to newer firmware

Hello everyone, Sorry for the n00bish question but i've been out of it for a long while. I have my i747 unlocked and rooted running on T-Mobile with 1700 band enabled with stock ROM. Whats the current best/safest way to update to a newer firmware 4.4.2 or 4.3. Thank you ahead of time for pointing me in the right direction. I tried lots of searching and reading but cant find much. Thank you.

[Q] Root and future OTA upgrades !!!

Hi folks,
Newbie here and just bought a Note 3 Neo N7505.
It came 4.4.2 out of the box.
I would like some advice on below questions:
(a) How to get a full back up of the original OS (4.4.2) before rooting the device? I guess this is called Nandroid or something. Can this be done without rooting? Is it same as downloading the specific OS from sammob*le.com?
(b) Once I root the device is it possible to receive OTA firmware upgrades in the future if I temporarily unroot it? (let's say 4.4.4 or Android L is released)
Cheers to all - thank you

[Q] Note 4 N910A unlocked and outside USA > Can I install TMOBILE Lollipop firmware?

[Q] Note 4 N910A unlocked and outside USA > Can I install TMOBILE Lollipop firmware?
Have a SM-N910A (AT&T) Note 4. I'm using it outside the USA. Already unlocked via CODE.
My question is... Since AT&T Lollipop can not be root and considering I will never use it with AT&T service..
Can I install the TMOBILE lollipop firmware on the SM-N910A (AT&T)? So I can root it? Currently I'm running AT&T 5.0.1 Lollipop but I'm experiencing the Hello Hello bug and out of a sudden today I'm not able to send or reply to SMS.... I'm getting tired of this.
I really appreciate any help.
Tnx.

No, you cannot install any firmware other than AT&T signed firmware
P.S. if it were that simple we wouldnt be trying to get root for the device we'd all just flash some other firmware, and this topic is all over the forums and a little searching goes a long ways

[Q] ATT SM-T707A Current Firmware rootable?

Hi folks,
I'm a bit confused after reading many threads.
I'm thinking of buying an ATT SM-T707A. But I don't want an unrootable device. The locked bootloader is very annoying but for the use I have in mind the lack of custom OS options isn't a big deal. But I need root.
So, I presume a new one from ATT or online will have (or rapidly update to) Lillipop. Is Lollipop rootable on the ATT 8.4 707A?
Marc
Hey,
I'd like to know this too please... the only way I have seen people rooting the T707A is with Kingroot - I just tried now and LP and it doesn't work
Cheers,
Su

Rooting 6.0.1 SM-N920A is/will be possible?

Hi guys. Recently, i bought a Galaxy Note 5.. but i didn't know the problems affiliated to this version.. the AT&T version... Very difficult update without ota, same for root. So, i now ask for you and we maybe can start a discussion thread. Is possible to do root now to this phone?
Only on lollipop so far. Please read through the threads before starting a discussion that's been covered!
So is better to have 5.1.1 but rooted? And there's a metod to edit build.prop without root?
