[Q] ATT SM-T707A Current Firmware rootable? - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi folks,
I'm a bit confused after reading many threads.
I'm thinking of buying an ATT SM-T707A. But I don't want an unrootable device. The locked bootloader is very annoying but for the use I have in mind the lack of custom OS options isn't a big deal. But I need root.
So, I presume a new one from ATT or online will have (or rapidly update to) Lillipop. Is Lollipop rootable on the ATT 8.4 707A?
Marc

Hey,
I'd like to know this too please... the only way I have seen people rooting the T707A is with Kingroot - I just tried now and LP and it doesn't work
Cheers,
Su

[Q] Need Help, Want to safely root GTN-7105 without tripping knox

Greetings fellow Android Users! Hope you are doing fine wherever you are. I have been following this forum for quite sometime now and decided to write this new thread because i am in need of help. I am new to android having changed from blackberry a few months back and decided to get the Galaxy Note II GT-N7105. For the past few weeks, i have been thinking whether or not to root my phone to get better customisation of your device but is afraid of tripping the warranty with KNOX. I would not think twice if i surpassed my warranty period but i've only gotten this phone for about 5 months and it really got me thinking. I am residing in HongKong now and purchased my phone from there. I did some research on this forum and came across this thread: " http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2618261 " and would like to ask a few questions regarding this matter.
Here are the details of my phone:
Model No : GT-N7105
Android Version : 4.3
Baseband version : N7105ZHEML1
Build Number : JSS15J.N7105ZHUENA1
I want to know if any of you GT-N7105 (Hong Kong Phones or any other) users have successfully rooted your device without Tripping KNOX, hence does not void the warranty, using the method on the thread i posted above or any other method? And also, If you have successfully rooted your device, do you recommend installing a custom recovery like Philz Touch in order for you to flash a Rom? Will you be able to also update the latest software from OTA (Samsung official) if they released it? Or you have to manually do that? I appreciate your time reading this new thread i hope you guys can help me. Have a nice day :good:

[Q] Root and future OTA upgrades !!!

Hi folks,
Newbie here and just bought a Note 3 Neo N7505.
It came 4.4.2 out of the box.
I would like some advice on below questions:
(a) How to get a full back up of the original OS (4.4.2) before rooting the device? I guess this is called Nandroid or something. Can this be done without rooting? Is it same as downloading the specific OS from sammob*le.com?
(b) Once I root the device is it possible to receive OTA firmware upgrades in the future if I temporarily unroot it? (let's say 4.4.4 or Android L is released)
Cheers to all - thank you

[Q] Note 4 N910A unlocked and outside USA > Can I install TMOBILE Lollipop firmware?

[Q] Note 4 N910A unlocked and outside USA > Can I install TMOBILE Lollipop firmware?
Have a SM-N910A (AT&T) Note 4. I'm using it outside the USA. Already unlocked via CODE.
My question is... Since AT&T Lollipop can not be root and considering I will never use it with AT&T service..
Can I install the TMOBILE lollipop firmware on the SM-N910A (AT&T)? So I can root it? Currently I'm running AT&T 5.0.1 Lollipop but I'm experiencing the Hello Hello bug and out of a sudden today I'm not able to send or reply to SMS.... I'm getting tired of this.
I really appreciate any help.
Tnx.

No, you cannot install any firmware other than AT&T signed firmware
P.S. if it were that simple we wouldnt be trying to get root for the device we'd all just flash some other firmware, and this topic is all over the forums and a little searching goes a long ways

Hi I have a few questions about using a phone made for another neterwork (att) on tmo

Well in short I have an At&t Model GS4 the i337 its currently unlocked running on stock Nj4 and of course want to root it. First of all i suspect i need to use t mobile roms now that i am on that network.
Here is a list of questions and links are also appreciated as answers anything that helps!
First and foremost how should i root this (my last device was a G3) so if things are different please tell me also, I their an app or a thread you can point me to.
Secondly how do i update it to a v5.1 or the latest so updating them rom later is not a problem if i must use odin to do this (i want to use the latest to use odin the least)
Lastly anyone who can give directions on how to root and get to the latest version of android i wold greatly appreciate the time anyone spend to respond to this this post i TYIA
So any links that will work work with NJ4 I would be so happy I have only experience with the G3 I feel i know what to do with it but the Gs4 is new to me and i appreciate any help i receive/
Thank yo for reading this and TYIA for responding thank you for your help i hope its as simple as someone posting some links so i can do this easy i again thanks for leading me through the fog and TIA
@BeatnikBandit :
Basically, you're in the wrong forum. You'll need to get support fir the ATT version i337 over in the forum for that model. I used to have one, actually. I sold it on Swappa and got a T-Mo M919 S4 so that I could take advantage of all the AOSP ROMs for the M919. At least as of a year ago, there was no way to unlock the boot loader on the i337 and the only ROMs available for it were basically just skins on the TouchWiz kernel. ROMs, such as they were, used something called SafeStrap. Not sure if things have changed for that device in the year since I gave it up.
You can only use ROMs made for your model. So, even if the locked boot loader weren't an issue with the i337, its hardware is different from the Verizon or T-Mo variants. Using a ROM for a different model will give problems. On the T-Mo M919, there's a bit of an exception in that we're hardware comparable to the international variant, so we can often use ROMs for that one (9505 I think). Oh, and the M919 never got an official lollipop upgrade from T-mo before they gave up on it, so there are some issues with using LolliPop ROMs on the M919.
I'm sorry I can't help you with how to root, but presumably you will find that answer over in the i337 forum.
As for using the i337 on T-Mo, that should be easy enough. Just go in and enter the APN information for T-Mo (probably is in the T-Mo forum somewhere) in place of the ATT APN info and you should be good to go, presuming your phone is SIM-unlocked. Instructions on SIM-unlocking it should be in the ATT i337 forum, if you're not already unlocked. For example, when I got my M919, all I had to do to get it to work on ATT was enter the APN info from ATT, and BOOM I was on the network. I bought a pre-SIM-unlocked phone to avoid having to unlock it myself.
I hope this is at least a little helpful even if it's not all the answers you were hoping for.

Root for lgg4 us cellular lgus991

I'm kinda new at this and I need a little help with figuring out if I can actually root the lgg4 I bought? I've never bought anything from another variant other than the typical sprint, mobile etc.......so with that said......can I root this phone that's from us cellular? And if so can you point me in the right direction please.? My software information is lgus99120c
My model number is lgus991
Please help me
So far no root on MM. You will need to downgrade to LL with LGUP. Do research for your own model.
LG G4 us991 "unlocked"/ US Cellular
There is very little information on these G4 variations,
I am also struggling with this device. No real root method, mention of a couple custom and stock roms but no links,
Im running stock unrooted lollipop
Any real help would be greatly appreciated.

There is a brand new method for your device which can fully unlock it and so install even custom ROMs on it! Ofc rooting stock MM is no issue anymore for you then..
Just check out my PoC unlock thread in the g4 area!
This unlock method is based on ls991 (!!!!) firmware and so you should have no limitations. ("should" because no ls991 user tried it yet but it worked for other models where we had much higher risk of issues then with a ls991..)
