Hello,
I have a Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition Wifi (SM-P600).
I had rooted it, and had the stock ROM (4.4.2) installed. I had SuperSu installed, and I could do the power+VolDown Trick to access recovery. I had used an installer to remove some system apps, but I think thats irrelevant (?)
I wanted to try one of the CM ROMs and Clean ROM.
I used twrp manager from the playstore to try and install TWRP (Should have just used my computer!). I installed version 2.8.7 for exynos (the latest version). I got an error message saying "recovery could not be installed, something something may be already installed". So I said to myself.. oh ok... so I already have twrp installed? Thats good...
Then, I pressed VolDown+Power. I got the "Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition" screen for a long time, followed by the twrp screen, followed by the twrp menu..... and..... touch isnt working!
Now, every time that restart the device (by pushing just the power button or VolDown+Power), it throws me directly into the non-responsive TWRP WITHOUT TAKING ME TO RECOVERY!
Is there any way I can get to recovery? OR get to it to boot into my ROM, which I think is still working?
I tried:
- Using odin - does not detect
- Using adb/fastboot to boot up the device - No device connected.
Help! What do I do?
Thanks,
Sunil
Edit: When I plug in the device (with the non-responsive twrp "swipe to unlock" on screen), it IS detected by the computer and I can browse both the internal and external SD card. But odin does not detect it.
EDIT 2: USING THE SPEN WORKED.... JUST KEEPING THIS HERE IN CASE ANYONE NEEDS IT
Try using 2.8.5.1 version you have touch control
Sent from my SM-P600 using Tapatalk
Good Mornig,
TWRP Version 2.8.7.0 only works with Stylus, try the older Version 2.8.5.1
Had the same problem here, Wonder if its a bad recovery. Even went as far as unpluging battery for 10 minutes. As You said, the S-Pen worked so thank you!

Hi!
Got my G Pro last week, today i rooted it (SU & SuperUser said it worked) and tried to install the actual CWM via the ROM Manager. ROM Manager said it was ok but when i try to start the recovery it only shows the Android robot, lying on his back, front flap open and an red triangle with an exclamation mark over it. After about 30 seconds the phone restarts (to normal mode).
It isn't possible to start recovery via the shortcut, there will always be the official message about the recovery.
TIA!

In short, you cannot use the standard CWM from ROM Manager without Loki. You must use a Lokified version, i.e. a version which includes the Loki exploit, such as the one that FreeGee installs.
No other recovery will work without Loki, because the LG OG Pro has a locked bootloader.
Sad, but true. With a fully unlocked bootloader, this device would be the king of all devices, IMO.

I agree with you man.!!
Thank you for the answer, so i downloaded FreeGee and tried to install the recovery, after downloading the recovery it says "boot md5sum mismatch" and does not install the recovery. Almost tried it a couple of times, it never worked.
Got it, after applying the official LG-Update FreeGee does its magic. Thank you for your help.
I got the Tab Pro 12.2 a couple of weeks ago (refurb). It worked flawlessly, so I decided to root it, etc. It no longer works.
Two points.
(BOOT 1) - On a 'normal' boot it will get past the blue swirl with about 1 second of audio, then stops with "SAMSUNG" on the screen.
(BOOT 2) - On a Pwr on/Vol- (hard) boot, it will come up with "press vol +)" at which time it boots to ODIN. No way can I get it to boot to TWRP (see following)
Conditions: Windows 10 Tech Preview, Dell XPS 18 (USB 2 and 3), latest USB driver from Samsung, ODIN 3.10, Kies 3. The tablet connects with ODIN.
I loaded CF-Auto-Root (CF-Auto-Root-v2wifi-v2wifixx-smt900.tar.md5). Success, BUT tablet reboots to BOOT 1, above.
I loaded "openrecovery-twrp-2.8.5.0-v2wifixx.img.tar". Success, BUT reboots to BOOT1 above.
If I do a "hard" boot, I'm back with ODIN. TWRP won't boot. Tried the same with CWM (getting stupid here). Boots to ODIN. Basically, I can't boot into any recovery program.
Tried loading "SM-T900_XAR_1_20140508111550_703bt27ewy.tar". Again, loads but no joy.
Loaded the original ROM from SamMoblie. Again, no dice.
Am I screwed or what? Please help if you can. Thanks.

Try a different ODIN version.
I've come up with something similar in the past.
ODIN reports OK but nothing is really written to the Tab.

Thanks for the reply. I have tried a few versions of ODIN. One or two of the older ones didn't work at all.. Currently using 3.10.6. Maybe I'll go back and retry a couple.
With tablet in download mode: I tried Kies and it reported the tablet as an unrecognized device. Tried ADB. It didn't see the tablet at all.
Any great insights (or guesses) would be appreciated!
Thanks

Plug in the Tab and check in your computer device manager list that the device shows connected to the USB port and the drive installed is Samsung Android ADB Interface, if it isn't change it to this driver.
Make sure you are using the original USB cable and its plugged directly into the PC and not via any Hubs.

Try loading this in odin(P900XXUANB3-RecoveryImg.tar) then see if you can get into stock recovery and wipe cache and data to return to default settings. See if your stock rom loads.... If so then
flash CF-Auto-Root-v1awifi-v1awifixx-smp900.tar.md5 in odin then reboot
If all is working then flash
openrecovery-twrp-2.8.0.0-v2wifixx.img.tar
instead of the openrecovery-twrp-2.8.5.0-v2wifixx.img.tar( this seemed to not load on my tablet pro 12.2)
See if it boots up for you.
Then you can install custom rom if you want from twrp.

Thanks for the advice. I couldn't find a download link for the 2.8.0.0 but found openrecovery-twrp-v1a3gxx.img.tar. I'm guessing it's for a 3G version but it works. I used ODIN3 v3.10.6.exe on the PC. So far, I have twrp and the stock ROM running and everything works nicely. I still haven't managed to root it. Keeps getting stuck on cache. Can it be rooted after twrp has been loaded?
I actually may try to use the tablet for a while instead of continually poking and reloading it.
Hi Guys,
After playing with a lot of different roms on this tablet, i was content with CM12. I thought also now would be a good time to update TWRP from the ROM itself. So, i downloaded the TWRP manager, told it my device and told it to update. It asked me if the location for recovery was ok, and i (assumed....so its me being stupid) told it it was.......
Now my tablet wont boot anymore, i only get to see the "downloading" screen with the android dude. I love the android dude, but not so much that he's all i want to see
I tried using odin to re-apply the TWRP file from there, but it just is stuck at "initialization". I tried doing the same with the stock firmware from Sammobile, but the same thing happens.
I know there HAS to be a way to get it working again as it is still powering on...but i am running out of ideas. Can anyone please help me? If you're in town i will treat you to a nice Jopen bier
Thanks guys,
Yves

What Device you have? When you flash TWRP with Odin, do you uncheck Auto Reboot? I always uncheck it then power off then press Power, Home and Vol up to boot TWRP. Maybe no help.

Sorry, Samsung galaxy tab pro 10.1, sm-t520 aka picassowifi.
Auto reboot does not change anything... Still stops at 'initialization'.
I cannot get anywhere else but the downloading screen...
Thanks so far
I know you can't take the battery out but I been reading to let it die. Then plug it in works for some.
Note 4 Port Evolution 3.0
I drained it...when I get home I will try the Odin method. I'm starting to worry though....
Thanks again
Thanks for your help guys! The battery drain did the trick! I successfully installed the new TWRP and new CM 12.1
Thanks guys!

Glad it's working! :good:
How to drain battery?
Good to hear it worked for you but how did you drained the battery. I dont know how to drain it if I cant use the tablet ( and I believe my tablet is fully charged)
I am in a similar situation.
I have SM-T900 (Galaxy Tab PRO 12.2) and when I flashed TWRP 2.8.7.0 (for v2wifixx) for the first time over the stock recovery. It was successful and booted into recovery, but then it was not able to wipe any data. It gave some errors which I do not remember right now.
Then I tried re-flashing the same but it is not booting back into recovery, anymore after more than 5 attempts. When am re-flashing the TWRP, it is showing SUCCESS in Odin but the device is not booting into recovery. Current situation is that I cannot power it off nor boot into recovery. All it is allowing me is to get into download mode. Also, I have Kies 3/Smart Switch installed and NONE of them is recognizing the device in download mode either. However, am able to login to the download mode and reflash the twrp recovery image file.
Currently, opened the back cover and removed the battery connector and re-connected it and that is only way I could get the power off. I will try to re-flash TWRP again in the evening today.
I am posting here to ask for any other ideas. Is there anything else that I can try?
Thanks.

Finally fixed the issue.
I downloaded the firmware from www.sammobile.com for SM-T900 (Cellular South) having the PDA version as T900UEUBOI2 and this is for US. I downloaded the latest (v5.1.1) as of this writing.
I switched ON the tab in download mode and connected to computer using the USB. It appeared in Odin (I used v3.10.7). I flashed the firmware file downloaded (link in above para) and it roughly took 3 mins to show SUCCESS. Since, I selected the Auto Reboot in Odin, it tried to reboot but the device has been going through bootloop. At this point, I powered OFF the device and tried to boot into recovery. After couple of trials, it booted into recovery. I did a "wipe data - factory reset" an rebooted the device and it worked guys. I finally happy to see the device coming back to life.. however with the stock rom. However, I did not root the device as of this writing.
It worked finally. Hope this would help others.

Hi I am in a similar situation. I flashed CM12 on my Tab pro 8.4 wifi. Left it untouched for a month or 2. That mean battery fully drained. Then I tried to charged but no luck. The tab only shows a hollow grey battery icon with a static circle in the middle. Cannot boot to recovery mode but only download mode. No charging at all.
I tried the button combo like holding down power + vol up 20s, etc. No luck. I then bought a battery and changed it....shxt, same!
Then I used KIES to flash stock rom. A bit better now I can see the samsung text but freezed there. Anyone can help?
So. Recently, I got CyanogenMod 13 on my Gpad. Everything was just fine. Then I installed the Magisk Manager, which, for some reason, disabled the root access on the device. When I uninstalled it, my recovery (TWRP) asked me, if I want to install SuperSU. I selected yes. And that's the moment when everything fcked up. After SuperSU installation, my tablet went into bootloop, and I wasnt't even able to enter recovery via button combination. I tried to flash the stock rom via LG Flash Tool, but failed miserably. I tried multiple stock roms, but the result is till the same: I can't access the Factory Reset via buttons, the system keeps rebooting, and even if it boots for few seconds, the touchscreen isn't responding. I even tried connecting mouse via USB otg, but no success. Is my tablet dead? Is there any chance of repairing it?
Thank you for your help.
EDIT: It's v500 European version.

nope, it's not death (yet)... The buttoncombo to enter might be a problem, but keep trying. If really nothing goes, try connecting to your PC and open a commandline. Type : adb reboot recovery (preferably from a linuxbox). However, make sure you got a ROM, GApps and SU system 2.78 or 2.79 ready on the SD. Personally I recommend @adrianom AOSP 7.1.1, OpenGApps micro and SU 2.79 SR2'systemmode.
Cheers

Thank you for your reply.
However:
I am not able to stay in the system.
I am not able to enter the recovery. (because of the brick)
I am not able to enter ADB, because there's just no way how. I have USB debugging disabled by default (because I tried to reset the system using LG Flash Tool) and I can't use ADB in the download mode.
Actually, download mode is the only thing that hasn't broke yet. I still hope that someone that has experienced similar problems help me.
But again, thanks for your (and the only) reply.

If you can get into download, you could connect to a PC and start the LG-tools.Use that to restore to the original ROM and start allover again with latedt software (TWRP, ROM, SU)

I have the following problem:
A couple of months ago I installed the unofficial Version of lineage os 15.1 on my Galaxy Note s 10.1 LTE because I really wanted to have Android 8. But the S-pen applications werent working properly, so i decided to downgrade to lineage os 14.1. I downloaded the TWRP App, then the wrp.img.tar for my device and tried to flash it via the app, but the file was not flashable, because obviously it was a .tar. I wasnt really thinking about what I was doing so i Just renamed the file to twrp.img so the app would recognice it, which worked out. After I flashed fhe file, I tried to boot into Recovery. But instead of doing so, it booted to Download mode. So I decided to boot into Recovery via quick reboot, which didnt work either and it booted to dowbload mode again. I shut off the device and tried a normal boot, but nothing happend. The screen just stays black. I Hope anyone can help me with that, I really need my tablet.
