OTA 5.1.1 Bugs/Fixes - Sprint Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just updated to the new OTA 5.1.1 2 days ago. So far I like it and it is very responsive. I do however have an annoying bug that I cannot find a solution for. The blue notification LED flashes even tho I have no notifications except for when screen is on. I have tried to go into settings>Display>LED Indicator to disable the led all together but it has no affect on it whatsoever. Annoying bug? Bad download? Operator Error?
Any Ideas?

It happens regardless of any app. I have cleared the cache, done many reboots, battery pull... I wont have any notifications in the notification bar, I don't have any unread messages or emails, The damn thing still flashes when the screen is off!

If you are stock and no root i would consider either a factory reset/wipe via stock recovery or grab og5 tar from Sam mobile or kies and odin flash to start over.

Nobody ydt tried to see if their animations or gif in stock weather backround is working? Mine hangs. I wiped. I reset a bunch of times. I just Odin too. Still. Lol. Anyone? Im about to flash the freeza stock.

I am having download issues with 5.1.1. When I try and download any file from Chrome it says Downloading but disappears in the notification bar and never downloads...? I rooted and had the same issue. I returned back to stock tar with same issue. Hard Reset with the same issue. Now my Chrome Bookmarks are not syncing at all? I have unknown sources checked if that helps? I can't download any file at all?

can you guys please check which bootloader versions you're using?
wrong bootloader is known to cause these kinds of problems, granted a kitkat bootloader would be much worse than a 5.0.1 with 5.1.1 firmware
edit: also, check your baseband

Been out of the loop for a while, but how do you check the bootloader version?

Galaxy Tools will tell you.
Settings/About phone/Build isn't reliable unless you're flashing full stock like KIES, OTA or Odin full stock tar. Flashing a custom ROM changes the build.prop and it may or may not indicate proper build.

Thank you. It's showing that I'm on OG5 in Galaxy Tools. I guess that means I can't downgrade, huh?

That seems to indicate you updated to OG5. To go back you would have had to Odin flash the modem only update for OG5. Then flash the custom ROM. tx_dbs_tx also released a tar ball for Odin for those wanting to keep the OB7 bootloader but it would be too late if you already updated to OG5 OTA or OG5 full tar in KIES or Odin.
No way to go back from that I know of.

Vibrate pattern. 1 long followed by 3 short?

I have seached and find reference to this pattern in multiple posts, but never an answer to what it means. Ever since ec05 my phone randomly does the pattern sometimes with no apparent problems or sometimes it happens while loading an app and then it force closes.
Thanks!

try re-flashing and that should solve your problem
Thanks, I will. I was just thinking there must be a meaning to the pattern. I seem to remember my moment did that once in a while also.

Any update if re-flashing fixed it? I'm having that problem as well, so odin again back to DI18 then flash using the update.zip again?
I have been busy all weekend and haven't had time. Will post results tomorrow. I just think there must be a description of what that means since I have had it happen on another android device also.
I think ultimately it may be a bad flash though because randomly I lose my signal and it doesn't come back until a reset. This happens when I am in a low signal area.

Sorry it took so long to get back here.
I finally had time yesterday to go back to DI18. I couldn't remember the hard reset recommendations so I did that before and after running Odin. I was going to run the update.zip, but got sidetracked. When I got back to my phone it had d/l the OTA. I ran that then did another hard reset and cleared the cache. Then I ran 2.5.5 one click, and I may have even did one more hard reset at that time. (I know a little anal)
I also formatted my SD card (I think I read somewhere that this can be an issue also)
Since then I restored user apps and data through titanium and I have not had a single problem with the vibrate error.
The only thing I haven't tried on my phone is Sprint ID.
I'm thinking there are four possibilities, my flash to di18 may have been bad, the update.zip I used was slightly corrupted or didn't install properly, the SD card had issues now solved by the format, or it's Sprint ID.

vol down, camera, power. wipe date option
sorry maybe "hard reset" isn't used anymore, from the WinMO days.
if this happens to you check and see if you have the whoisit app installed this is what caused it on my epic just uninstall it
The 1-3 vibrate thing means an app has force-closed. If you are getting a lot of this after flashing a new rom and restoring apps and data, it probably means that the data is corrupted or not in a format that the new rom can deal with.
The only time this has happened to me is after I have gone from a rom based on eclair to a rom based on froyo, and even then it was the phone data, not the app data.

This mean that there is some corrupt data and that you need to do a system restore from a previous backup or reflash to fix this problem. Usually this happens when your phone turns off randomly or when you forget to wipe the partition or dalvik cache when flashing a Rom or a system file such as stock browser or keyboard through clockwork mode.

[BUG] Camera Flash when turning off

Is anyone else's camera flash flashing 5-6 times when powering off? This happens right after the pink T-Mobile goodbye screen.
Turned mine off at least ten times now and no such report here.
Nothing here. Have turned mine off about 3 times since I received it earlier.
Last night my battery was very low when this started happening.
After a full night charge the phone boots down normally.
Mine flashed 1 time when I turned it off. I've only turned it off twice. I did it the 2nd time, because I thought I was seeing things.....now I know I wasn't imagining a lightning bolt in my hand;-(

wrong topic.... some one already mentioned that in a separate topic, it's a bug or defective unit, you should exchange it for a good one
I spent quite a bit of time trying to find out what was causing the camera flash to happen after changing the files.
Reverting back to stock: can't duplicate camera flash on reboot/startup.
Using the international SGS2's bootup/shutdown: can duplicate random camera flash on reboot/startup.
It appears that the camera flash is being caused by trying to reboot the phone to quickly after shutting it down. The original T-mo shutdown is longer in length than the international version.
When I wait 3 seconds after the shutdown vibration occurs while using the international version I am not able to reproduce the camera flash.
My conclusion: User error. No exchange necessary.

Actually this isn't caused at all by user error, as one of my old units did exactly this. It was a problem with the unit. Only one of the 7 I've tried have done this. . .

Just recently flashed bombaridier, haven't had the camera flash do that yet on stock or bombaridier. Will keep an eye out for it though
I've been thinking this may be related to using a "flashlight" app (not app specific, possibly after using any flashlight app)
I never had this happen until I installed a flashlight app... I've noticed when you use the flashlight, after you turn the "flashlight" off, it will always flash one time.
Uninstall the flashlight app, reboot once, after that - anytime I shut down, no flashing.
Just a thought..
Im going to have to turn my wifes phone off now to make sure that hers is not doing this.

i'm pretty sure it must be a software bug
for the records, i do not use the stock SMS/MMS i have it frozen, because it sucks
i use Go SMS Pro, free, and has more feature than i can use, but has no use for them (that's a good thing )
Just witnessed this for the first time on my phone after having it for close to 3 months. I just flashed CWM for the first time on it a few minutes ago. Wonder if it's related? I'm guessing the consensus is to just ignore it?

Sending my GSII for warranty repair

So over the weekend, my phone started rebooting on its own..Thought it was a ROM bug, but every ROM I switched to (Even clean backups) would have an issue with locking the phone (Lockscreen would come back on within a second) and automatically shutting down/rebooting.... So I Odin'd back to stock and sent it to Samsung... Should I have any worries about them being able to see I was rooted at any point? I know this is such a noob question, but I just want the damn thing fixed without issues. Thoughts?

Simple answer, no they will never know, descriptive answer lol, 9x out of 10 sammy never turns the phones on, u will probably get a completely diff phone back, all they do with these is either wipe and reflash if its a software issue, or junk for parts and refurbs if its hardware related, I've never seen an issue with any Hercules warranty because of rooting

hmmmm, interesting, I'm worried if i send the phone rooted with AOKP on it. So you sent rooted phones eh? are you in the US?

Problems with d851. Could really use some advice.

So, I bought it on launch day and I'm getting desperate...
1) Wake screen after receiving notification (text etc). Pull down notification bar, back and multitask soft buttons grey out and phone will not respond. If I'm listening to music when this happens, the song keeps playing until I pull the battery or the phone reboots itself.
2) General lag is awful... More than half the time it has noticeable hangs switching apps or opening anything. I'm down to next to no apps that i've installed and have even tried removing just about everything I have with no improvement. Scrolling stutters about half the time as well. And the image you see with the camera open stutters badly also. Every once in a while it's buttery smooth for a few seconds then slows again.
Battery life is great and I love the form factor of this phone. I REALLY don't want to get rid of it but I'm at the point where it's more important to have a phone that's usable than have the extra screen size etc.
It's bone stock and I haven't tried a factory reset.
Suggestions?
Try the factory reset then go from there.

G920TUVU2COF6 -- that's 5.1.1 update !!

This is awesome, we have the Android 5.1.1 update already. Full firmware. Odin TAR, man!

Just updated..... From a look and feel standpoint it is still as laggy for me as always. Not sure what to think. Multi tasking is still as terrible as ever. Cannot Switch to another app and back to chrome without the page reloading, for me makes the phone almost unusable for what I need it for. While I was updating I broke out my note 3 and I swear it feels twice as fast as this phone. I am sure the typical it is a lollipop issue will be the response to the multi tasking issue, but the lag this phone has is unbearable. And small little things they could have easily fixed like the night clock are still not fixed. I am not sure what to think at his point.

It seems even though on Nexus, 5.1.1 doesn't completely fixed the memory issue, it is just better and improved. Google been said it will be fixed completely only on Android M.
Can you report any RAW and manual shutter support in camera? Any guest mode or multi-user mode available?

I somehow don't think the mass killing of application is Lollipop's problem by Samsung's. Other phones like the M9 or G4 had no problems with that. Lollipop only make the matter a bit worst due to its memory leak but still it shouldn't be so bad.
Before I get my s6e, I have using the Nexus 5. Since the first day 5.0 is released, I never had such terrible memory issues whereby I have to be afraid to switch applications because the things I do might be gone. I think either the LMK is too aggressive or the Touchwiz is still using up too much ram.
I am sure the typical it is a lollipop issue will be the response to the multi tasking issue

Ping pong will not root 5.1.1 even, the kernel date is after may 15. For those who wants root just wait to update until a dev releases the flashable version, which requires you to flash the modem, etc in Odin

I think you got a lemon there, and should go change it. I have a note 3 as well and nowhere as fast as my S6E. I think the carrier ones have the most issues with lag and battery life. My international version is just superb, smooth and fluid from day one. The aggressive RAM is there, and hopefully they fix on updates.
