Bought a CN Version istead of WW. Is it a big issue? - ZenFone 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone,
So I've purchased a CN version of The ASUS Zenfone 2, is the same as the WW version? if not, what is the difference between those two. And please tell me if I made a bad decision Hopefuly CN Version is same, if not, at least similar to the WW version. I heard that in the CN version there won't be any Google Applications installed, is that the only difference? or is there any other major differences?

I heard cn version can get 1-2 extra hours of sot? I read somewhere. To get full lte you need to flash back ww ?
Sent from my ASUS_Z00AD using XDA Free mobile app

If you manage to get the gaps then no.
It's exactly the same with the difference that you will get about 1:30 hours more ost, don't know why but it just does, I know it from first hand I get 4 to 5 ost depending how much I will game.

The big difference is the 4G LTE bands they have. Very different.

Mine's CN. I've no issue's with it. I don't need the extra lte bands of the WW Version as they are not in use in my country anyway. The stock firmware is much less bloated than the WW version. Playstore and google play services are easily installed. Chinese apps can be uninstalled. Root and boot loader unlock are the same as WW.

One question to you corrsea! Did you use Google apps installer to install the Gapps? or did you download some type of file that contains all the applications and installed them through your SD Card? if so, please give me the link. And another thing, will they be updated automaticly?

It depends on where you will be using it and if LTE is important to you. Bottom line, the CN version does not have the majority (if any) of the LTE bands used in North America. I'm not even sure it has the bands used in Europe.

Yes I used the app installer to install Google service framework and playstore. Once installed I updated them to the latest versions. Any other Google apps I just downloaded from playstore.

No but it would be nice to see a customised Rom such as super Zen based on the CN firmware.

Find 7 Color OS v2.0.10 INT_11 for x9007, but works on x9006 just fine!

If you want the newest version of Color OS v2, you'll have to use the x9007 version. It does have English as an option and all the menu items are in English. However, there are a lot of Chinese apps pre-installed on the phone as well now. It's probably best only to use this if you want a lot better performance, but don't run anything mission critical on your Find 7a.
Here is the ROM: http://pan.baidu.com/s/1gdHxnZd to be flashed only with Oppo Recovery.
You will need the latest version of Google Apps for 4.3, here. Which has to be installed with TWRP.
I did re-root my phone using the standard root afterwards (from the TWRP recovery) and all went well! Titanium Backup still doesn't restore, but Nandroid Manager does, if you need your text messages and WiFi hotspot settings back. Simply backup with TWRP first, then you can restore them!
Have fun!
Ok, but what is with LTE (4G), ?? The X9007 has other frequencies then the X9006. The 9007 has no Band 20 (800Mhz)

Hmm. The X9006 is the US variant of this phone. Unfortunately, the US version of the Find 7a isn't getting ColorOS updates as quickly. All we are doing is using the newer iterations of ColorOS, which have no problem addressing the X9006 hardware. Does that answer the question?
Can anyone post a mirror? Getting errors while downloading..

I've just made the switch, and right now I'm really, really happy with it. Other then the first startup, where EVERYTHING is Chinese, and the lack of alphabetically sorting apps on the default launcher, things are working perfectly. Battery life and performance are easily the best this phone has had thus far with this rom.
IMO, this is exactly how Oppo should have shipped the phone in the first place, albeit with Google Apps and the plethora of stuff us NA users like.
I can post a GDrive mirror asap, and exactly how I transitioned from the International Beta to Chinese Beta. Done.
~EDIT~
Link to the ROM: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzFsQizh49FUVkM3QTk2V0tkNzg/edit?usp=sharing (This will only work with THE DEFAULT RECOVERY. Custom recoveries WILL NOT WORK. I have tried converting this package to one that will work with custom recoveries, but it didn't completely work. If anyone can help with this, that'd be appreciated.)
Link to the Root Package (Same as the default root package, just putting it in here for ease of use): https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzFsQizh49FUcEE1ZDFBUHFuUFk/edit?usp=sharing (This will only work with THE DEFAULT RECOVERY.)
Link to the GApps Package that I have confirmed working, though I'm sure everything else will work too: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzFsQizh49FURi1VQmY1UlBzVEE/edit?usp=sharing (This will only work with CUSTOM RECOVERIES. The stock recovery WILL NOT WORK)
Link to the Original, Stock ROM: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzFsQizh49FUbTN1SHNEU0h1SU0/edit?usp=sharing (Again, will only work with the default recovery. You won't need this to flash the Chinese beta, but it might be good to have on hand in case the Chinese Beta fails or something. [I just like to have a backup plan] )
Thanks for the great summary. Works great!
Anyone got release notes for 2.0.11? I can't seem to translate them from the Oppo site.

I would also check and make sure that your APNs are properly in place. I know that they automatically got installed on mine, but since I am not in the US I cannot say the same for you.

x9007 was only a link to the x9006 dir, i removed it so please do this also.
I do this because X9006 and X9007 are similar and i would provide a international firmware mirror. Because X9006 (Find 7a( and X9076 (Find 7) would get merged i create a new dir: http://mirror.lucky.li/android/oppo/x90x6/ and x9006/x9076 are just links.
Also if i would mirror some X9007/X9077 files in future you would found it there: http://mirror.lucky.li/android/oppo/x90x6/firmware/cn/
This is the new x9007/firmware or x9077/firmware directory but to keep it clean without links. Maybe in future i will also delete x9006/x9076 links and only keep x90x6.
What I've found out about this Chinese ColorOS:
- Google Apps are gone - you can't even flash them via the original recovery
- Swype Full is gone - International ColorOS had it preinstalled completely free
- App drawer is gone - all app icons are being put on the homescreens
- You can't flash back to international ColorOS via the original recovery - 'Installation failed'
---> Solved this by installing it via System Update app (tested with Chinese ColorOS 2.0.14 -> ColorOS 1.2.1i)
+ Camera app - manual ISO control has been added, but track-focus seems not to work.
+ OTA is working

[Q] Flash International Firmware version ?

I have a brand new Verizon Note 4. There is no french language. I wanna try and flash the international samsung firmware on the phone in order to have the french language.
Would it be possible without bricking my phone. or is there any language pack i can download instead.
You can't flash any ROM because the Verizon note 4 bootloader is locked

Many verizon phones have international languages I sometimes send phones to Poland and for example motorola phones do have Polish on there and b unch of others.
It's samsung phones that don't for some reason.
Try morelocale2 but you will need to give permission over adb and remember it won't 100% change the language only some parts.

That's weird when I used morelocale2 it would keep the language after reboot. I know when you go into languages you won't see your language but it would stay on there anyway..

HI,
I'd like to buy this ZENFONE 2
But as you see , this one is for China market and the CPU is a Z3560 and not a Z3580
What do you think of this version ?
If I want to use another ROM, which could I take ?
Thank you

That is a ZE551ML Model, so you can flash ROMs marked as FHD, 551ML, and ZE551ML.
It does not depend on the CPU used ?????
Apart from the max clock speed, the 3560 and 3580 are essentially the same chip.
Just be aware you may need to change from CN rom(Chinese) to WW ROM(World Wide). Make sure you read up on this before starting...
Actually there is no good reason to switch from CN to WW if you intend to stay on stock. The CN firmware does not have the bloat of the WW version, Google apps are easily installed and battery life is better.

All the Google and 3rd party apps listed in this post

These are baked into the system in the WW roms.
Some users have also reported poor battery life when moving from CN to WW.
You will also lose automatic updates.
If you do want to switch there is a thread detailing how to go about it.
If you are intending to flash custom roms then there is no need to flash WW first. Just unlock the boot loader, root and flash TWRP, then follow the instructions in the respective threads for flashing them. Remember to make a backup of of your current setup in twrp first so you can easily return to it if you run into issues.

[Q] System update changed firmware region

I just purchased a zenfone 2 Laser online from a seller in Taiwan with TW firmware on it (Only TW and JP firmware support 4G Band 28 I need in Australia).
As soon as the phone arrived I set it up an OTA system update.
To my surprise when the update installed I noticed that the firmware was no longer TW but WW.
Is this normal?"
Will my phone still support 4G Band 28? (I don't have a SIM in it yet)
How do I tell if my phone is really a Taiwan version and not a WW version or was it really a cleverly disguised WW version all along?
cheers
I think that's normal with TW updates. It will have no effect on your bands.

[ROM][TW][MM] Stock pre-rooted Telus 6.0.1 DPE2 + init.d support and busybox

This is a flashable zip I created from the recently released 6.0.1 update for the Telus N910W8 (though it should work for other models as well as long as you're running your most recent modem / bootloader fw). It's been prerooted, busybox has been installed, and it's got init.d support. Otherwise I've changed nothing from the official Telus release. No, The Bell mobile T.V app isn't a mistake on my end - somehow it actually ended up in the official Telus FW (you'd have it if you flashed the .tar.md5, too). How something like that slips through the cracks I don't know, but I digress.
EDIT: If you're not using the N910W8 and your device bootloops, flash a marshmallow kernel for your device immediately after flashing the ROM. Depending on which kernel you use you may need to reflash supersu.
EDIT 2: You MUST be on a marshmallow bootloader / modem for your device. If you try to flash this with COK3 / DOK2 or older it'll just bootloop.
|| DO NOT DIRTY FLASH || DO NOT DIRTY FLASH || DO NOT DIRTY FLASH ||
The Telus version of MM uses a screwy version of ART similar to Sprint's. Thus, if you download xposed, use the ALTERNATE version. The main build of wanam's xposed will bootloop your device.
Download link: Stock-TLS-prerooted-6.0.1.zip
Flashing instructions:
twrp recommended
1 - reboot into recovery
2 - wipe system, boot, data, cache, and dalvik/art cache
3 - flash zip
4 - be prepared to wait! first boot can take up to 15 minutes.
First! Well First to comment. I'mma wait and see how it goes for others, hehehehe
And its going to be a PIA to theme now there is colour overlay on the icons and still having a little trouble getting the clock in the centre and haven't added 3minit or network speed yet but i'm working on it will also try to get floating messages working after systemui
Please have the Vietnamese language in this rom ? Thanks.

Do you recommend any kernel..I have tried them all and not many work well on n910T. My favorite is Ael 10.3 but it has a random reboot issue with Internet and actually ended up soft bricking my phone out the blue..Nameless kernel good too...but anyway haha... Needless to say i am really anxious to try yours....if you need a guinea pig to test for you I'm down. ????
For bootloop I found I needed to factory reset before it would boot
Perhaps everyone trying this can list their phones variation, and what they did to get this to work, or not work. Success, failure? Etc.
For instance I have a N910T running stock, unrooted.
Mine is such a bear to restart due to having the reboot/freeze issue that I don't want to try this until someone with the same phone has.
