Nikon camera wifi connection problem - Galaxy S 4 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a connectivity problem with my S4 mini. I own a Nikon camera with connection feature to a mobile device through wifi. The camera starts transmitting a wifi network like a hot spot, in which i can connect my phone and through Nikon's app to take pictures or download existing ones to my phone. If i use a Samsung A3 i own with stock rom the connection is immediate. When i try to connect with my Samsung S4 mini (i9195) running the latest cyanogen 12.1 rom, i never pass the "getting ip address" stage of the wifi connection. Can anyone help me with this problem?

The same problem occurs on two Oneplus One phones, running resp. CM12 and CM12.1
On the CM12 opo I by now get as far as getting connected, but further negotiations keep on going until the camera gives a 'refused' message.
On the CM12.1 opo I still am in the phase of getting the WiFi connected. Setting it to WPA2 AND adding the network's gateway did help on the other phone.
The same camera connects without any problems on our Galaxy NotePro tablets, running resp. stock Android 4.4.2 and 5.0.2
There should be a solution, but until that moment I consider this a probable bug in cyanogen mod.

How to force 802.11g on custom rom?

Hi guys, I'm having some serious issues with my DIR-655 and my Gio.
For a long time I was using the first Particle rom and all was fine. Ever since I've updates the ROM, the troubles started.
I've tried pretty much any ROM out there, and all disconnect from wifi.
The thing is, I do not see the Wifi icon disappear. There is just no internet for some reason, Wifi is still connected.
I can solve this by putting my router on G only, but if I do that I can't get full speed on my or my wife's laptop (both 802.11n).
Is there any way to force my Gio to connect through 802.11g, now it's connected through 802.11n.
Putting my router on G only is no option, I pay for high speeds so I wish to use it.
Many many thanks in advance.

had same problem like you did with my first router. i forgot the model. but was pretty much the same. the router worked perfectly with my laptop. in 2 month didnt get any disconnect on laptop. when i bought the phone it was useless. only solution that worked for me was to change it with a d-link.... sry the router is not compatible with the phone probably cuz of the operating system of the router.
This is a D-Link router. .
And before flashing to the newer 2.3.5 roms all was working fine.

Weird wifi tethering issue

I'm having a strange issue with wifi tethering on my Verizon Galaxy Nexus. Since this past Thursday or Friday, my tablet (an Acer Iconia a200) has a hard time connecting to my phone's wifi hotspot, and this is the case no matter which ROM I use (CM9, Liquid ICS, MIUI, and AOKP so far). I've even tried different tethering apps besides the ones built in to the ROMs (so far wifi tether and fox fi) and still no luck. Also, when I am actually fortunate enough to get my tablet connected, it never stays connected for more than 20 or 30 minutes (which is really frustrating as much time as I spend watching streaming video, particularly Netflix). I'm pretty sure the issue isn't with the tablet, because it connects to other wifi networks without any issues and stays connected to them. Has anyone else experienced this issue with a Galaxy Nexus? How can I fix it?

Have you tried different security settings in the native tethering app? I had trouble connecting sometimes when it's open so I change it to WPA2 (with a password) and vice-versa and that usually solves my problem.

[Q] CM11 Wifi Direct cannot find device

I'm using a n5110 with CM11 nightly 20140127 and a HI763 WIFI Display Dongle Adapter. CM11 cannot find the device on "Wi-Fi Direct" or "Display -> Cast Screen". I don't have another WiDi device, so I'm not sure if it's my tablet or the display adapter problem.
Has anyone tested Wi-Fi Direct mirroring on Note 8 CM11 and has it working?
Probably bad WIFI Cast device. I had gone through 2 different models from china.
One would not connect to any wifi band G or N using open or secure network. The other would connect but would not connect to miracast, would say hardware error.
I found a good one simple and has the latest firmware. And no Lollipop sign in for DLNA. )
The only troubles are that in DLNA bridge mode, it limits you to 65mbps on the bridge mode. I think that is because I am on 5ghz N band. So I don't see any point to using DLNA if your going to use WIFI streaming with G band connections. I would try 2.4 bonded N but, don't like having our neighbors complain.
The only issues I have noted with these devices is they do not like hidden SID networks, and you may have issues with older N wireless routers. I had to mess with advanced settings to get smooth data streams from having the router 1 meter from the miracast dongle.
Since you pushed a developer rom, mostlikely you will need to remove screen mirroring within Titanium Backup, and push your factory backup of Samsung screen mirroring app. I had to do that when I was using a different developers ROM on 4.2.2.
Soon Samsung will release 4.4.3 to Note 8.0 and 10.1 when 2014 edition gets its update. That is why I went back to OEM ROM and realized that there is no significant gains using a developer's rom, unless you are willing to be their guinea pig. Done with it, and will not do it again... way too many troubles for little gain if any.

Intermittent WiFi Dropouts?

I got a Tab S 10.5 a few weeks ago as a replacement for my Nexus 10. Overall, I feel like the Tab S is head and shoulders above the Nexus - but I've had some strange issues. I've had the wifi signal intermittently stop responding - it seems to be more prevalent on my 5GHz network using 802.11ac speeds but I've experienced it at standard 2.4GHz connections as well.
I haven't rooted the tablet yet. I thought at first it might be my wireless network as I hadn't used any other devices that were 'ac' capable even though I have a pair of Netgear R6300V2 routers bridged across my home. However, these wifi signal dropouts persist only on the Tab S - if I turn wifi off, then back on, connectivity is restored. My Galaxy S4, Chromecast, PC, DVR, all stay online just fine.
Has anyone else had this issue? I got my Tab S with the Samsung Book Cover - which I love, but it almost seems like it happens when I hold the Tab a certain way.
Thanks for anyone who can give any feedback.

Did you connect your Tab S with your S4 through SideSync at one point?
Yes, I have used Sidesync. I disabled remote notifications, but occasionally still get a pop-up that remote notifications are enabled even if I haven't used sidesync in days.

I too suffered wifi drop-out and Bluetooth issues. Following this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/heads-sidesync-bt-wi-fi-bug-t2828911) I realized that there is a problem with SideSync. Even when not connected it sitll tries to communicate with the tablet and affects the wireless components. I removed Sidesync from my Note II and clear the data from SideSync on the tablet and for the past week I have not ahd any issue with Wifi or Bluetooth.
Thanks. Side Sync Sux.
Brilliant. Thanks. I was having a big problem with 2.4ghz wifi. I though there must have been some interference. 5g was fine. Tried chaining channel and all sorts. Would have thought it was my router but I have two with same prob just on 2.4ghz. It was happening to my phone and tablet, but then noticed only when the table was connected to wifi. Just disabled Side Sync and now the wifi is blazing.
