hi everyone,
bought myself a second handed p601 for a really nice price, from a former employee of Sky (Sky TV). This tablet used to be a sales unit, and it´s completely locked up by administrative tools. at first, I thought I would simply factory reset it, and all would be ok. But got "MDM does not allow factory reset | rebooting" message. So I flashed it with P601UBUCNL1_P601ZTOCNL1_P601UBUCNE1 (official 4.4.2 ZTO), but still same problem. Rooted it with CF-Auto-Root tried Aroma FM to erase mdm data, still no luck, flashed TWRP recovery (twrp-2.8.7.0-lt03ltexx-4.4.img.tar) so I could format /data and /system to write P601UBUCNL1_P601ZTOCNL1_P601UBUCNE1 again, but recovery won´t start!
so got myself locked up with a tablet that can only access main screen, can´t even open settings, or connect to any wifi network. adb is disabled, mtp is disabled, only connection is has while it´s on, it´s samsung modem (no modem usb port or diagnostics port). I can enter download mode, and flash it, but /data is not erased. as I can´t backup efs/qcn/cert, got kind of afraid of trying more agressive measures, and end up with bricked device or, kill baseband.
can anyone help? thnx in advance.
just to include:
- flashed philz touch recovery, also cannot load. after flashing it with 'auto reboot' unticked, only samsung logo when entering recovery
- re-rooted it and then flashed official rom again, still the same
- flashed cm12 custom rom, it powers up with a lot of errors, and still can´t factory reset it (same error) and can´t format /data or /system (not allowed error)
starting to think that was a bad idea to buy this device...
up on this... still couldn´t figure out what to do...

any luck man? I'm in the same boat
Yes, but was a real pain in the @ss... Used SPT Box to flash with repartition, then resetted EFS, and flashed again, it did turn on with corrupted security (you can do that with odin if you get proper .pit file). Installed cwm recovery, but now it worked. From there, formatted all partitions, and flashed rom again. Right after flashing ROM, tried factory reset again, and it worked! Used z3x to rebuild security and repair imei and sn, it seemed ok, but no signal. Got a .qcn file for it in gsmhosting, and wrote it too. Now it´s working fine, as it had never been mdm locked.
I used gsm boxes to do it, don´t know if there are free software to do that. Eventually I found out another way, with riff box. You can read a working p601 and generate image file, which can be flashed into another unit (riff works via jtag, and after you need to repair imei/security, and flash rom again). It should have some other way, simpler, but I couldn´t find, and couldn´t get help anywhere.

holy crap man! I have no idea what more than half of that means, lol....If it's not too much trouble could you break it down for a lamen? or hook me up with some links.
I work with mobile repairs, so I have equipment for that, they are called 'boxes' (or gsm box). I used 2 of those tools (spt and z3x, around 150usd each) to achieve repair. I know that what I did using SPT is possible to do with free software (odin and efs tool), but you have to be very careful with the .pit file you use. This file is used when you repartition phone (search xda wiki for android phone partitions), but if you use wrong file, you´ll have nothing but a brick, and most cases is not even possible to repair without proper equipment. The second part, that in my situation I used z3x, I don´t know any free software that could do that.
in resume, what I told above, require that you have paid tools. maybe someone reading this thread can help by pointing out some free tool that can make efs rebuild. as for imei repair, matter can´t be discussed in this board, it´s against the rules. so I think you may have to look for a good technician and take phone to him. I won´t offer myself, as I am in Brazil.

Thanks for all of the info!!!

Hi man, I'm from Brazil too, and got the same tablet of Sky Tv with the same MDM lock, but I hadn't success with the odin/pit proccess. What city are you from? How much would cost your repair service? Could you please email me at [email protected] ?

Today I though let's get cm9 on my nice nitro.
What did I do:
Rooted and installed cwm bytes version
installed custom 0.3 of kernelpanic
Today I installed cmw from the market and installed the new version.
Then I installed the cm9 but it stated that the sd card was not mounted (sdcard pointer wasn't right or something).
I tried all kind of things, but cmw would not work.
So I tried to install cwm bytes version again
[HOW TO]Install ClockworkMod Recovery The easy way
and did: dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p6 of=/sdcard/mmcblk0p6.backup bs=4096 and dd if=/sdcard/_ExternalSD/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p6 bs=4096
Then I did a restart
Nothing happened, nothing at all
No screen no download mode
When I connected it to the pc, it has some usb drivers:
qualcomm hs-usb qdloader 9008
Now what?
I am from holland, so getting it back to the US is not a good option, I also don't have an email address from the seller (ebay). I already send him an ebay message, but I don't know if he is still member or something (2 months ago I bought it).
Does someone has a solution?
The name of the windows driver is Qualcomm HS-USB Qdloader 9008
Oh ****, it looks like you flashed CWM to the wrong partition. Um, I think you're going to have to try to unbrick using a .kdz, possibly the SU640 one. My unbricking guide is out of date (my fault, but real life has kept me busy), but all the information you will need is in this thread somewhere. Please read all the posts, particularly ones toward the end of the thread that will tell you how to edit your hosts file and set up a server so that the kdz update tool will let you flash the .kdz file.
Edit, I forgot to mention this will only work if you are able to get into Download Mode. Please confirm if this is the case.

I doubt it. p6 is the SBL (secondary bootloader), I think emergency mode depends on it.
I cannot get into download mode, I only see ethe qualcomm driver in windows, nothing else. No screen, no nothing.
Your situation is not good. Your best bet at this point is probably getting it repaired by LG/AT&T unless aremcee or someone more knowledgeable than myself can help you rescue it somehow. Whoever's post you followed that told you to flash to p6 was horribly, horribly misguided. Unfortunately, as you know now, flashing roms the manual way can be really dangerous if you overwrite the incorrect partition. I'm sorry it ended the way it did for you...
Yeah I think I screwed up... I just wanted to get ICS on the phone, anyway.
How can I repair it? My seller does not respond, is there a possibility that someone else can get it to at&t for repairs? or wouldn't that be possible?
maybe ask someone to pull (dd if=) their sbl p6 and you could try to overwrite whatever is on yours now.
worth a shot, I know on samsung phones if this happens you need a .pit files, which will help repartition. I dont know if LG has a similar option.
what software do I have to use to get the new p6 on the phone, for samsung there is ODIN, but for lg?
See, that's the thing, the closest thing we have to Odin is the KDZ update tool and as far as I know they both kind of have a caveat of needing the emergency/download mode intact. I really don't know if there is any way to rescue your device without physically getting in it and reflashing, which most people are not equipped to do.
adb probably is no go as well huh? or you would see android/LG driver...
if this was another device I may have more ideas, but I have no exp. with LG.
{tell them you just hooked it up to Itunes to sync your playlist....an it went all weird.. hahahah}
Not sure how releveant this is but I think one of the Qualcomm Phone tools may have an option for raw memory read & raw memory write.
For example READ_MEM from address 0x0200000 to 0x0250000 (from a device with a working sbl of course) and dump it to a file.
Then WRITE_MEM and cross your fingers. Very dangerous and would take some research to find the sbl memory address.
A long shot more geared towards the technically inclined.
Is there someone who can make my phone work again? I can pay you for it, otherwise I will sell the phone, broken as it is.
My seller won't respond, so I have nowhere to go. If someone want to help me, you are welcome.

You know, you could always ship it off to LG. I sent them mine after having the EXACT same problem, and they fixed it and it's on its way home right now!
Did you have to pay for this? Do you have the contact info? Thanks.

would you mind to share how to unbrick it.

For the jtags you first need to check if the cpu is supported. If it is, all you have to do is disassemble the device, locate the pins solder up and go for it. Some other model may have same pinout. Just make sure it is same layout, and check if vref and gnd are in the same place. If successful connection is achieve, you just need converted files from box support. Send them full stock rom for your model. If cpu is not supported, it will take longer and will be harder. Get into the forum support of either, medusa and riff. For the OP, see if you can send it to LG but if you can't, someone at forum that lives nearby you could help you. Only solution afaik is jtag.

Hi All,
I had purchased T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S4 (SGH-M919) with Stock android 4.3 while I was in usa, and want to use it in my home country now as I have left usa. I couldn't found any unlock solution on internet for stock android 4.3, and T-Mobile would not give me the unlock code. I tried third party services to provide unlock code and it did not work either. So I went to a local shop, and he screwed everything up. When I went back to the local shop to receive my phone (hoping it might have been definitely unlocked by them), he told me that he tried to downgrade it to 4.2.2 but it did not work (only after reading through all the forums I realize there is no way to go back to stock 4.2.2 if you are on stock 4.3 because of knox / bootloader issues on 4.3, leads me to think the shopowner did not really do his research before touching my phone, and no, he did not do any EFS backup). In an attempt to unlock my phone, he also flashed Metro PCS stock ROM on my phone, not to mention, my IMEI number is also 'Unknown' now. I managed to get back on T-Mobile stock 4.3 ROM now but still IMEI is unknown. I also tried to go to nearest Samsung center and they said they would not touch international phone models. At this point I have no idea what to do. Any suggestions how to get back my IMEI and or at the least to get the phone working to my country's network?
Thanks.
Try flashing the mk2 modem using odin. That may work but not sure.

The local shop broke it. Tell them to pay for it.
Also, the only reason T Mobile won't give you an unlock code is if the phone isn't paid for in full. If the phone is paid for in full, they HAVE to give you the unlock code.
Are you sure you didn't buy the phone in the US, then leave the country without paying the bill so you could use the phone internationally without paying full price? If not, there is no reason T Mobile wouldn't give you the unlock code. So there's some missing information in this story.
Also, we do not discuss how to change IMEI's on XDA. The only thing permissable on XDA about flashing IMEI's is restoring YOUR OWN IMEI from a backup. That is done by restoring the EFS partition. But you didn't have a back up so you can't do that. That means anyway to fix your IMEI involves what is an illegal hack and that discussion is expressly not permitted on XDA. That information is used for illegal purposes and XDA is not going to be the place where it's shared for legal reasons.

Hi skipjacks, thanks for responding. Nothing is pending with t-mobile, I was on prepaid account. I bought the phone like 10 days before leaving usa (due to emergency). T-mobile says my number on this new device should have being working for at least 45 days or so with refill balance. My cycle ended after 15 days of purchase and I really didnt see any reason to refill it as I was no more in usa. And no, I dont want to CHANGE my IMEI, only want to restore my own IMEI only. I am not sure if my EFS partition is corrupted, because I rooted my phone tried to backup EFS folder now (I know its too late but still), deleted it and rebooted (as a few threads suggested it would regenerate nv data files), but neither did I see any nv files when I did a back up now, nor after I rebooted. When I rebooted, the EFS folder did regenerate but there were no nv files in there. Also, after deleting EFS and regeneration the serial number was corrupted, but when I restored my backup, the serial number showed up correctly again. Also my current backup contains the imei folder with mps.code_bat file. I noticed that even imei folder was not regenerated on deletion of EFS and reboot. I somehow have the feeling that this is still indicating that my original EFS folder is still present (though I may be wrong, because I dont know). But my concern is the nv data files, which I dont see anywhere. I did come across several threads about imei corruption and restoration, but the only one I didnt come across was T-mobile SGH-M919 with stock android 4.3. I am wondering if this has some different file storage structure for imei (which again I dont know). At this point I am concerned about getting back my imei, I can get the unlock code from some reputed paid service again. I understand that open discussion about imei involving anything CHANGING IMEI is not allowed here. If anyone could just help me out restoring my original imei, even by pm, I would really appreciate it. I just dont want to throw away the phone and lose my money because of the error done by repair shop.

First off....the enter key is your friend. Hit it every so often when typing giant blocks of text like that.
Second, since your IMEI has been deleted, you now have to change it, even if you just want to change it back to what it was before. The process to fix it now is what can't be discussed here.
IF you had backed up your EFS partition, then it would be as simple as restoring it in recovery. That's all well and good. But your IMEI is now 0, so you have to change it to what it was.
But all that aside, you went to a store and they broke it. Take it back there and raise holy hell until they fix it for you or buy you a new one. I know consumer protections are stronger in some countries than others, but wherever you are, yelling and screaming is a universal language.

Whether your file is missing, modified, or corrupted, you need your /efs folder to restore it. You do not have have a nandroid backup or the /efs folder. I am sorry but the simplest we can put it without sounding harsh, you're screwed. You need to request the local shop give you a replacement phone or credit to get a new one.
Update: I went back to the shop and told them "You broke it, you fix it, I don't know how and I don't care, you gotta fix it". They managed to fix the imei number somehow. Regarding unlock, the shop ended buying the unlock code themselves. They mentioned that no one is able to unlock T-Mobile S4 with Stock 4.3 as of now without unlock code, unless they have some device like Z3x box. The phone is finally unlocked and working fine on my network. (YES, A HUGE HUGE RELIEF).
Everything is fine, except for 2 issues.
1. I want to backup my EFS folder so that I don't enter into trouble with IMEI again. I tried EFS Pro, but its not working. All I see is "'Initializing ADB server..." (the phone is rooted, usb debugging mode enabled, and supersu permission granted when prompted). I also tried to backup using Andromizer, but it says "Notification: File not found in /storage/emulated/0/Amdromizer/efs/efs.img". What is my best option as of now to backup and store my imei safely somewhere?
2. I am having issues with Wi-Fi. Before the shop flashed my phone, it was all good, but now it doesn't auto-connect to my home Wi-Fi anymore. Everytime I reboot or get out of range, I have to manually select my home network everytime and also enter the password everytime. Nothing has changed on my router. The other Samsung device that I have still auto-connects to my home Wi-Fi as usual. How can I fix this?
Thanks.

For the efs you can back it up using recovery. Just boot to recovery and its one of the options in the backup menu. The resulting file will be like a few KB. Its supposed to be small. Dont worry

Edit: The Verizon repair assistant put my phone back to PHE build [100% battery].
Man I knew I shouldn't have tried to root after all this time. I'm not sure which firmware my phone was on [it was the 60% battery update], either PHE or PK1, as it displays in recovery right now. I tried to follow Lrileys modification of freeza's root guide, which neither of them specify a base firmware to go off of, lol.
Anyways, flashing the userdebug sprint firmware with ODIN 3.12.4 failed and my device softbricked. It boots into recovery and download mode.
I have tried factory reset, wiping cache partition, flashing an AP PH1 firmware, and repair through Verizon software/upgrade assistant.
The closest I've gotten to restoring it was with VUA, however when I go to the repair assistant page, it tells me to put phone in download mode [which I do] but the repair button stays greyed out.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: The Verizon Upgrade Assistant wasn't starting, saying it was missing mfc90.dll. Well I downloaded the dll, dropped it in the folder, and was able to get UA to recognize phone. Repair assistant is downloading software right now, we'll see how it goes.
IF you would have read there is no root for the PHE.. you also could have checked this via phone settings before you rooted.
You can also use the verizon app to restore your firmware from even the most bricked of phones. Also in in this forum..(looks like you might have tried this?)
I wouldnt even bother at this point, go get your temp phone =]

Well the repair assistant seems to be working atm, so hopefully it goes through without any problems. Neither of these threads in the original post mentioned anything about incompatible firmware though [https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-note-7/how-to/root-vzw-note-7-t3448711 and https://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-note-7/how-to/root-super-leaky-bros-sprint-galaxy-t3447202]. I suppose I should have known trying to use a method that dated.
You shouldn't be messing with this stuff if you don't even know how to see what version your on and read.

Thank you for the gratuitous reply. Despite your sour attitude I was able to return to PHE through VUA. I was running PK1 firmware, however, again, neither root method specified/recommended/listed a base or stock firmware to flash from [or even posted what they were running]. This place used to be helpful.
Hi all,
not long ago the update to 10.0.8.0 seriously bricked my Mi A2 Lite.
I still do not really know why, but I have managed to get it alive again - mostly. The only thing no longer working is - the mobile phone part
When inserting a SIM, the IMEI gets shown as 00 (on both slots).
Reading the qcn via Qualcomm-Tools crashes the tool after 16kb - so I guess that part is corrupted also? (And no, I got no idea how a "normal" EDL-flash could do this).
And as I only learned about all this AFTER having the trouble - of course I have no valid qcn-Backup of my own
So, could anybody send me a backup of their qcn-File (of course, set your IMEIs to 000000000000)? I still have my IMEIs (as numbers), so this would probably enable me to revive my phone.
The only MiA2Lite qcn file I could find on the internet seems to be for another hardware revision ...
Hmm, as nobody answered, ca at least somebody provide me with images of modemst1 and modemst2?
dd if=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/modemst1 of=/storage/emulated/0/Download/modemst1.img
dd if=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/modemst2 of=/storage/emulated/0/Download/modemst2.img
Afterwards, there should be modemst1.img and modemst2.img in the "Download" directory of your internal Storage
Of course, needs root to do it - or twrp ...
Many thanks!
This guide seems to indicate you don't need modemst?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2-lite/how-to/guide-to-fix-efs-corruption-sim-card-t3928910
Thanks for the link.
I flashed via EDL "from the beginning" (i.e. the first version), but I did not erase modem before ...
So, I'll definitely try that - it's not that I could "destroy" much more
So - no luck
Even after following the instructions in the thread to the letter, my IMEI still shows as 0
But if that thread really worked for other people that means that it's probably NOT the modemst1/modemst2 partitions that got corrupted on my phone.
Of course, there are a LOT of other partitions that do NOT get flashed during a fastboot-Recovery (fsc, fsg, ssd, ...).
After learning all this, I made a backup of all of them for my other phone(s), but the Mi A2 Lite is still dead.
Ah, I guess if no one has a qcn-File it's time to re-lock the bootloader and send it in for repairs ... luckily I have a BQ X2 Pro that still works great ...

You just need MiFlash.exe and "daisy_global_images_V10.0.3.0.PDLMIXM_9.0" thats it, when you flash the device, you can unlock the bootloader again or update via OTA if you want, i brick my device 3 times, and i had no problem with that, if you need a tutorial send PM and i give you instructions

I think you misunderstood my post. My phone boots again and everything - It's just the mobile network part that's no longer working.
I do not think that flashing 10.0.3.0 will change something with that?

First of all, i started being a newbie, i just wanted to install magisk for cam2api, but i messed up: i combined for error 2 different system (mine that was ios9 and ios8). So i tried to read more and more threads and it just got worse. to make the story short: i had to get to test-point and restore the phone with Xiaomi Mi Flash tool & an original rom stock.
So now that i can go inside the Android System and use the phone, my sim card is just not working, i checked and my imei was 0 and my IMEI SV also 0.
I tried deleting modemst 1 and 2, i tried to reflash the phone with another stock images, updating the phone via android (normal way), i tried to restore my imei with the QPST Dual Imei (and it worked but the IMEI SV still in 0). nothing is working Please i need help i think my efs folder it's corrupted but i'm not shure.
Also i don't have any EFS backup or System backup, nothing.

I´m not sure what you mean by ios8 and ios9, maybe oreo and pie.
For the next time just so you know test point method is not recommended while you are not completely bricked (although is recommended out there without care), on a unlocked device most probably you won´t need it to solve this kind of issue, there are other resources to try previous to this stage.
I never had this kind of problem, you might try this https://zfirmware.com/how-to-repair-qualcomm-imei-via-qualcomm-write-imei-tool/
Sadly not working

Try rewriting the IMEI's from the box (I hope you still have the box and paperwork since there is the original IMEI's) with the Qualcomm IMEI Tool. Reflash full stock rom.
The tool is here: https://androidmtk.com/download-qualcomm-smartphone-write-imei-tool
If everything fails and your knowledge is not helping you to find a solution and you are still under warranty and respect the warranty for physical aspect of the device (no scuffs, no damage, no aftermarket replaced parts that may damaged warranty voids inside the phone) you can flash it stock, lock bootloader and file a warranty replacement as "damage from OTA". The service will replace your motherboard.
I need help

I knew that there is a method to restore IMEIs via adb but I don´t remember commands so I never need it. First I do before tinkering device is to backup IMEI/EFS/NVram.
I had a theory that years ago I proved, IMEI is not really lost but just overlapped so if you have some friend that can give you their backup this will recover the yours but won´t overwrite/replace the yours. Not sure if it works yet.
About the tool that I linked maybe you need to get it through either in fastboot or download mode, try both; I don´t think that detect it while device is on.
