L Speed On G4? - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anybody tried L Speed or Velocity APK on the g4 yet? Made my g3 a bit faster and made the battery better depending on what settings I used. Any help?

I haven't heard of L Speed. Didn't think to try Velocity yet. It's still on my SD card, though. After root and freezing more apps than I was able to without root, the performance on my phone is great. It's been about a week and I haven't had one instance of crippling lag like I used to get at least once a day. Though, nothing wrong with more speed!
What's L Speed?

I tried L Speed.
Manually copy files to system and set proper permission.
I did all the setting and rebooted.
its seem that Build.pro tweaks line cannot written. Not sure its because unlocked bootloader on my H815 US.

[Q] How to have more battery life?

Hi,
What is the best ROM and the best kernel to get more battery life? My tablet takes 6h...
Thank you!
I haven't heard of any rom and/or kernel producing any significant improvement.

You can under-clock your kernel... Even a little bit should give decent gains in battery life, maybe. Let us know if you do, how much better it is!

You had to say that I'll have a battery saving kernel for the gpe with a tweaked governer setup in a day or two to try out. The goal being to not lose power, right? Well, we'll see!
Shortly after, If I get it right, Bob will probably put it in the v500 if there are no conflicts. I'm going for 20-25% savings. Eh.
Typically my screen will consume about 93% of the battery.
Will a rom or kernel be able to save 20~25% on the screen consumption, or only 20~25% of the remaining 7% ?

I dunno if this option is in any other rom, cause I've been using CM for the past 2 years on my devices. Theres a button called "Perfomance" in Settings. You can underclock yourself there.

Just an update. Go here for an init.d script for battery life. Init.d scripts
caveat: must have init.d support, which means custom kernel and root.

Cool! The changes are slight, but should be very effective. I didn't want to lose any power.
Let me know how it works!
Okay, here's the scoop.
I have used 5 hours of screen on time with 43% of my battery left!
This was a mixture of Facebook, kindle, and dolphin. The screen is using 90%, at about 55% brightness average.
Given these variables, I figure to get at least 7.5 hours out of a charge.
Here's the even better news. The 88sleektweaks has made my tablet response BETTER than without, and can easily tweak this toward more battery in the future. Without a doubt.
I can see getting 9 hours out of this with no feeling of slowing down before I am through. Yeah, that good!
I have to stop where I am now though in order to test another kernel.
Anyway, that is a two hour improvement over what I was getting,... With better/faster response from my tablet.
Is it not required to go through a few charging cycles before battery stats start being accurate?
Sent from my LG-V500 using Tapatalk
Not bad, 7 hours screen on time with 10% left on battery. Mostly Facebook and Dolphin browser. Also keep tablet talk on all the time, and make sure all my notifications are active.
Anybody else having good results using the script?

I can't say yet as I encountered issues with android system and android os using up battery. As I installed your tweaks as well as starting using greenify at the same time I made the (wrong I think now) choice of removing your tweaks.
But it now looks like greenify (or at least my going nuts and hibernating every thing ) is the problem.
So for now I've reset greenify and will monitor it overnight.
Once I'm happy with that I'll reintroduce your script
All the best rich

I doubt it uses much if anything. Sometimes when I haven't used the tablet all I have to knock 4 times instead of 2. LG's stock roms are better than samsung's stock roms. You could always try one of the aosp roms as a test comparison. My tablet was idle with LG's stock rom and bob's kernel for 1 day and 14 hours and I only lost 5% battery life no radios (bt/wifi/gps) were left on.

How enable init.d in stock 4.4.2 ?

You would need to build a kernel for stock 4.4.2 that has init.d support. You would start with the LG kernel source, get the source to build and then try to incorporate Sleekmason's changes that he has done for the GPE device into the V500 kernel. This would involve carefully looking at his tweaks and applying what is needed for the governor and init.d support into the stock kernel. Once you have built a kernel like this and it is ready to install. Then you need to root your device and you would need to install a custom recovery so you can flash the new kernel. The installation instructions would be different from what Sleekmason does since the GPE device has an unlocked boot loader.
When I was trying to do a custom kernel on 4.2.2 I found that my resulting kernel from LG source didn't match the installed kernel on my device. This bothered me and I wanted to make sure I understood the differences before proceeding. This combined with real life getting in the way (my wife is expecting) caused me to shelve the project.
I believe I finally figured out what I was doing wrong. However I'm now running 4.4.2 so my efforts are not useful to me other than to help me if I decided to attempt a 4.4.2 kernel.

what are the main issues and questions about the lg g3?

What are the main issues of the lg g3 (planning to buy one)..
Does it have the screen issue like the g2? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fd5BTKpViUk
is there a fix for the overheating and shutdown issues?
how is performance in gaming?
is it possible to reduce the resolution to 1080p to save battery and gain performance (and maybe prevent overheating)?

Read through The G3 threads you will know the answer to all of these.
You cant reduce resolution.
Gaming is decent
I have had no such overheating since 10H update and no shutdown issues ever.

OK the. Do other users also have temperature and shutdown issue fixed with the lg update?
Never had shutdown or overheating no matter what firmware. It's abit laggy tho but way better with art etc.
I guess you guys are not heavy users? cuz I read a lot of users have overheating issues with message prompting them to decrease brightness as it is overtheating and may shutdown (what the heck? ... LG really lost it on that one... Do you really expect to get that kind of message on a flagship pricey phone??). LG seems to be making great phones but each time there's a deal breaker. (screen issues with LG G2 and now overheating/performance issues on the LG G3)... I hope they get it right with the G4.
Did antutu x benchmarks, 3 times in a row with 90% brightness without auto with an ambient temp of 30c. I actually can't remember if my score was lower last time (because of throttling), gonna check it when I receive my phone again.
No message about high temp etc tho.
ok you are probably not a heavy user.

I am a very heavy user. No issues. People need to understand a simple factory reset and installing the latest update helps. When i first got it i performed a factory reset and installed thr latest update manually so i never really had time to see if it had issues on previous firmware . although i did run a benchmark when i got it it got really hot. But i did the same after the update it just got a little warm nothing to worry about.
ok. I want to know if other users have these issues solved with the updates like you.

abysmal battery life?

nice video showing that how lg g3 compares to the cat 6 version and the galaxy s5 prime
Sometimes the phone become hot specially when the phone is charging and I'm texting and browsing 'usually in a dark room so the brightness is 0%'
And yes my phone brightness decreased to 90% automatically and sometimes 80% due to overheating
Lg g2 was faster than g3 and you can see it when you use it for a long time
Overall. Go for it its awesome device

[Q] Google now launcher vs Zen Ui battery drain?

What's up folks. When I typically get a new phone I switch to GNL because I like the interface. On the other hand, zen UI is not terrible at all. I have ZE551ML..great phone all around up there with the best, but the battery drain is significant..can it be that I'm using the google launcher and zen UI is still using system resources? What have you guys done to optimize battery life? Should I go back to Zen UI? Thanks in advance for the input.

I can already guess you have the 4GB model, but regardless you're not the only one experiencing the rapid battery drain as it's a recognized issue amongst us. This is definitely not necessarily the phone's hardware at fault alone, but most likely the android 5.0 software itself is unstable (the memory leak bug) and is desperately in need of an OTA update to a later version. You can join the discussion about it in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3004268
Unfortunately, there is no immediate remedy for this with especially the 4GB model and it's even harder to rectify since we don't have a solid rooting method as yet. All we can do is wait and try whatever possible to reduce the drain until Asus can at least send another patch update to optimize the battery consumption.

Lg g4 battery drain. Bloatware removal

Hi guys i have seen an app designed for samsung device that removes or disables bloatware. Samsung users have benefited alot from disabling bloatware. Most users got atleast 2 or 3 hours more SOT. How can i remove bloatware on LG G4? My battery drains like crazy even on battery saving on from 100%
Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk
You need to root your G4 first. Let search G4 Android Development forum to get the hint. Then you can use Titanium Backup to freeze bloatwares or other system app uninstallers to get rid of them.
On top, you can install Kernel Adiutor to lower CPU speed to achieve power saving purpose.

Use the widows version of the bloatware tool, used it on my LGG4 works great, removed a few un wanted apk files, will help you de bloat some but beware do not remove something you do not know what it is.

G4 gaming issues

I had the h812 G4 wondering different g4s have the same issues
the issues are found on nfs no limits and kairosoft - beastie bay to be specific
So what i found was extreme slow/lag on beastie bay and gp story from kairosoft
And it lags several times in the middle of driving on nfs no limits
Things ive tried - disable useless apps, turn off game optimization
Tried on two G4s cuz the first one was defected, change launcher
Devices ive tried - quick test on s6 edge, nexus 5, nexus 5x, g3, g4
Not to offence but only g4 and g3 lag the crap out on beastie bay
Any ideas on this guys?
SD808 sucks for gaming, for G3 if u root you MUST change governor to conservative, that will massively reduce the lag, u can try the same for G4.

Had G3 and it was so bad at gaming, until i rooted and make that tweak it changed everything.
G4 is sligthly faster than G3 but nothing major, but i think that tweak will help you.
