DS3 Sixaxis crash reboot - ZenFone 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi ,
I'm on a rooted ZenFone 2 trying to connect a Dualshock 3 to play games.
So far with sixaxis controller apk and after some tweaking I've been able to play games that accept controllers.
On the other hand when using sixaxis controller's touch profiles or tincore keymapper they both crash and reboot the whole system if I press two buttons at once .
Please show me how to log this in order that you have a better idea or try to recreate this.
I've done this over OTG ( no sixaxis controller APK running ) with similar results.
If someone has something else rather than a DS3 and got something like this working let me know.

I have the exact same problem and i cant find a fix

Made a logcat a few days ago and found this line when searching for fatal.
[ 08-27 00:19:26.172 642: 753 F/libc ]
Fatal signal 11 (SIGSEGV), code 1, fault addr 0x28 in tid 753 (InputReader)

More information on phone:
WW-ASUS_Z00A-2.19.40.22 rooted using 1 click method found in forums. Won't unlock bootloader to go AOSP if im not 99% sure this is fixed.
Can't post links because I haven't reached the minimum posts required. There is already someone with the same issue as me and a bit more information. I am fearing this issue is related to how Sixaxis Controller, Intel and the kernel don't really like to play along with each other.
How to recreate:
1. Use sixaxis controller to connect DS3 to phone. The inputs have to be reprogrammed in gamepad settings for games that have native control support. Not seamless but good enough.
2. Create a touch profile for a game that doesn't have support. There are various Youtube videos showing how it's done. Set the active profile and load the game.
3. Everything seems to work.... Unless you press two buttons at once. It goes back to the ASUS screen.
I just need to know if someone is interested in recreating this with a DS3 controller or at least try with another controller and do keymaps for non controller compatible games or apps and see if it restarts. If it works and doesn't crash with another controller please let me know. XBOX, MOGA, DS4 it doesn't matter.

Exact same problem here. Awaiting fix. Gonna try tweaking app settings see if it works.

bump

I have the same problem too ...

This happen when it connects wireless and when you press any button it will restart but if you connect it via OTG it won't crash nor restart your phone.
All I did was format my phone, install Six Axis Controller APK connect via wireless and I didn't crash since then.

How to FIX
Sory for my English.
You need change settings. Settings -> Devices: Touchscreen -> Touch output device -> "ftxxxx_ts" (or another, but not "tincore_mt").

In theory - yes. It's a bluetooth controller, so unless they did weird protocol stuff like Sony did with the Dualshock 3 it should at least connect. Whether or not your PC sees it as a game controller or not is dependent on whether or not drivers exist for it or if it can use some form of "generic" bluetooth gamepad drivers, if those exist. If there are no drivers then someone will have to write them, though this is not a terribly difficult thing to do, since the drivers just have to read the inputs from the BT stack, then translate them to Xinput calls - pretty simple stuff. Note that I did not say EASY, just simple - an experienced coder/tinkerer could probably make them quickly, but a person lacking knowledge of how to deal with a bluetooth stack or the Direct X interface would have to learn those first.
Do some googling in case someone else has already tackled this subject elsewhere, and if not then consider putting up a bounty for them - as I said, it's quick money for an experienced programmer.

Well...
The pc does not detect the game controller as anything. Thats the issue. Is there a way around this ?
Thanks for the reply though, quite informative.
so mine was detected as "amazon fire game controller". within windows it is possible to calibrate it. but no game recognized it as a usable controller.
windows 8 pro 64bit

I wasn't able to get Windows 7 to recognize my AGC. probably because I have some crappy CSR Bluetooth usb receive that I don't even have software for. TBH, I don't think I've ever connected anything to it though, but I don't have a lot of Bluetooth stuff.
seems L2+R2 doesnt work. no game actually recognize this as a legit controller...
any ideas?
try to use xpadder?

I can use the controller with a n64 emulator (project64). The emulator recognize the controller and i also can play games. Just L2 and R2 dont work at all.
try x360ce, its an xinput emulator so it should be detected as an xbox360 controller in most games.
Mine is recognised by my PC via a bluetooth USB adapter, but apparently you need some sort of serial code to connect them together which Iam unable to find. Also, the L1 and L2 triggers don't work on any bluetooth platform, except from the Fire TV.

How did you open the game control calibrator?
What does that mean?

So can I pair the fire tv controller with my pc using bluetooth or do I need a receiver like with Xbox 360.
Work around for Fire TV Game controller to PC.
You will need the following Apps.
You will also require your phone and Fire TV to be on the same network as your PC.
1, mouse toggle for fire TV ( or any wireless mouse ) (instruction on google play)
2, Droidjoy free (droidjoy pro if you want L2 R2), (instruction on google play)
3, Octopus ( it's on google play, allows overlay controls for droudjoy/all touch games ) (instruction on google play)
4, Easy fire tools ( Also on google play ).
Firstly install Droidjoy on your phone and follow their instructions and YouTube video on how to connect and make your PC think it's a Xbox controller. Once connected try your game of choice and see if you like ( I found Tomb Raider: Underworld has minimal lag time (ms) plays great but Prince of Persia: The forgotten Sands is slightly more but still highly playable. If your happy move to next step.
Step 1
Install all the other apps on your phone and use the Fire TV Tools app to push/install them to your Fire Tv.
Step 2
Open mouse toggle and start the app.
Step 3
Open the octopus app and choose droidjoy app to open. Then select customize, then select Template Standard.
Step 4
Use mouse toggle in mouse mode to click on the octopus icon and overlay the buttons on the Droidjoy App. The back button can be used here but will become redundant for going back on the fire TV ( you will have to use the home button to exit the app ). Recommend setting the back button after all the following steps are done.
Step 5
Close the app by pressing the home button if you have programmed the back button, now reopen Octopus app and select Droudjoy, goto setting and click auto connect to server, press back ( or use mouse toggle in mouse mode ) now click connect you will have to use mouse toggle to click on your PC Server for the first time. Once connected select your template in the game pad section.
Step 6
Try the game controller on your PC it should work perfectly, you are now using your Fire TV as a relay to your PC, some lagging can be caused by having your Bluetooth set to on on your PC.
If you haven't already assign the back button on octopus and if need push Droidjoy pro to you Fire TV if your happy and need L2 & R2.
Good Luck and fun gaming.
If you havnt brought a Fire TV game controller yet Don't, purchase a Xbox one controller v2 ( your PC will need Bluetooth or a separate bluetooth dongle)

[Q] Sixaxis with Tab S

Hi everyone,
I've searched all over but can't find the answer. I've used the sixaxis app on many devices before. It doesn't seem to work on the tab s, and I believe it is because newer Samsung devices are missing a certain Bluetooth protocol.
My goal is to connect two PS3 controllers to the Tab S to play emulated games (nes, snes n64,etc.)
Does anyone have any information on how to get it working? Thanks!

I tried all the tricks I know, to no avail, it's really hard to make it work, unless you're willing to do it 'oldschool' style, wired via OTG.
we managed to do this in samsung tab 3 before, 2 PS3 controllers for 2 player fighting games, dunno, seems like we have bluetooth compatibility issues as the PS3 bluetooth is already outdated.
let's here other chime in
what ? sixaxis controller works perfectly on my tab s 10.5 :v no issue . even with wire
Works on my 8.4 too.. have you tried the compatibility checker first ? It only worked after I used it once

you dont need to install that app , just set the host IP for the controller and play . that's all
Well, like I said, didn't work until I tried that. Can't tell why though, never had too before. But I tried it since I remember a while ago, sense and touchwizz used to be not compatible with sixaxis app

ok, wait...so are both of u guys saying that u have a PS3 controller working through BLUETOOTH with the tab S?! If so then could one of u please provide a screenshot as proof and describe your connection method...did u use the pc program or bond with an otg cable through the sixaxis app then pair and what version of the sixis app are u using? Also..are u using original oem sony controllers or ebay branded ones? :confused

@better33
to answer all of the basic questions...yes i'm rooted & yes i've used the app before successfully most recently on the tab pro 8.4 . i really need the above questions i posed to the poster above answered...also as @sku|| suggested i doubt if the compatibility checker helps but yes i've tried that too. Thx for the screenshot though...are u using original sony controllers and more importantly what version of the sixaxis app are u using?
Like I said, it wasn't working the first time, so I downloaded the compatibility checker since I remember there used to be issues with touchwizz, and it said it was compatible. I'm using the official ps3 controller. Are you root ?
Forgot to say, I connected the controller on my computer to change the master address and then connected it through Bluetooth

Im using 2 official controllers here, one that came with the ps3 that I used on my tab 7.7 with no issues (bluetooth) . And another aftermarker pink controller that I also used with no issues with tab 7.7. Only thing devious and I have in common might be our custom rom which he compiled
I tried connecting it through PC and change the mac address via sixaxis changer. Installed the compatibility checker and eas advised that it's compatible. Bought the sixaxis app. And.. boom. Stuck at 'listening to controllers'. I'll give it a shot once again

I'm having the same issue in my rooted Tab s 10.5. I changed the master to my tablet, then the tablet never sees the controller. Any luck?
Uhhh. Dunno what I did but.. it worked.
Heres what I remembered.
Uninstalled sixaxis.
Downloaded compatibility checker and run
-hooked up my controller via otg and manually typed my bluetooth MAC
Installed Sixaxis
-tried pairing via OTG. Disconnect cable and tried pairing via BT: unsuccessful
*frustrated*
Killed app compatibility checker
Killed app sixaxis
Reopened sixaxis
Clicked change IME - list of keyboard appeared. Tapped sixaxis
Clicked start. It connected.
Mine is :
1. Have a DS3 controller
2. Have a cable and OTG
3. Connect DS3 via OTG
4. Open sixaxis controller app ( v0.7.4)
5. Tap PAIR
6. Disconnect the controller
7. Change IME
8. Tap Start and connect with DS3
9. Done

Actually I remember doing that too (changing the IME BEFORE looking for devices), maybe that's why it worked for me. I'm on the last stock French rom, can't tell you more I'm at work without the tab.

I got it working on Tab S by changing IME to sixaxis > then go to "set up input methods" > made sure sixaxis is checked > into its general settings , checked auto start > then into game setting checking "enable gamepad. Presto!!
Hi everyone,
Thanks for all the feedback! I am trying very hard to replicate the steps, but I still can't get past the "Listening for controllers" status.
Can anyone please delete all of the six axis settings, and post detailed step by steps from scratch?
Also, I noticed my bluetooth button isn't lit up (indicating that it is on) when I start Sixaxis. And when I try to turn it on, it doesn't.
Thanks for your help!!

Wait, you guys are right.... it is totally random, but I got it working! This time, I did retype the bluetooth address manually and clicked pair (even though it looked the same). Then, it still didn't work. Then I tried it with my regular swiftkey input, and it connected! Then I switched it to six axis.
This was the reason I bought the tablet, so THANK YOU guys for the help (even though we are still kind of puzzled )
I got another simpler method that works, so far so good,
-Force close all sixaxis apps (compatibility checker and sixaxis)
-at the back of the controller, there's a reset button, insert anything small enough and reset it
-connect the controller to your device via OTG
-run sixaxis controller app
-tap pair, then tap pair (the one on pop up)[ensure the bluetooth address is correct]
-disconnect OTG
-turn the controller on
-tap Start.
and there you have it.
edit:
and it will not work again as soon as you paired your device to your Samsung Gear LOL..
what you need to do, after using your Samsung Gear, disconnect it, reboot your device and follow the instructions above, it will sync once again

I was about to edit my post for the nth time LOl. Sad to say. I does not work again. I was simply lucky that I managed to do it 3 times in a row. Now. It simply doesnt pair. Could be something messing with the bluetooth becuase once you get it to pair initially. Even if you reboot, it would still pair. But once you connect your device to another bluetooth device such as headset/gear. BT will forget the sixaxis profile and you'll have trouble syncing it again. I'm close to giving up. I'm simply using it with USB OTG just to satisfy my game-cravings. Hope the others who got it working chime in once again if they manage to pair it all the time.

Controller Support not available

Hi!
Does anyone know how to connect a controller to the OP3? I tried Bluetooth/sixaxis and OTG.
Bluetooth: Can connect to it but wont work in emulators or games.
Sixasis: Wont find the controller
OTG: Light DS4 controller is orange (So it is connected) but won't work in supported games or emulators.
OS: OxygenOS 3.1.2
I tried support but they just say it is not supported. USB controller support is native in Android OS, right? See OnePlus forum where we discuss the problem at hand. Maybe someone here knows a solution. Support OP says it is not supported on OP3. As far as I know it worked on OP1 and OP2.
I really want to play Pokemon en OoT!

I'm having the same issue connecting my DS4 controller. It connects to the sixaxis app properly, but the nothing responds to my inputs. I am using oxygen 3.1.3. I'm guessing a different rom will probably fix the issue, but then I'd lose dash charging. Is there any work around? Hi, Thank got i'm not alone! Next step in the process. Installed BlissPop ROM and that made it only worse. There is no way to enable OTG on CM13. So I thought, lets restore my back-up. Now my security pattern is not recognized . Let's hope the already second running restore will work.
Anyone got another plan?

I tried contacting OnePlus support. Their response was that the OP3 is a very sensitive device and is very sensitive to input and is not designed to work with a PS4. I don't even know where they got PS4 since I didn't even mention that I was using a DS4 with my OP3.

PS4 Wireless Controller

hello,
I would connect my ps4 wireless controller on my oneplus 3, I can do this but it doesn't work, i can't use it. Could you help me ?
Thanks
After pairing devices (press "Share" button in controller during some time and then look for it in BT options), you need to download the app "sixaxis controller" or something like that to map, or so I have understood
I tried but you need a rooted device.
Do you have a solution to use the controller without root ? Thanks

Dualshock 3/Sixaxis on rooted Sloane?

I am on the latest version of FIre OS (5.2.7.2_r1) and am using a first party PS3 controller, the version with Dualshock and Sixaxis combined
I know this question has been asked and ansered before, but the methods I have tried to use have not worked for me, sadly.
I have tried Using Sixaxis Controller from DancingPixelStudios. I enable and set the IME from a terminal (cannot get a Settings.apk to install) I have set the Bluetooth Master Address both from the USB pairing method built into the app, and with Sixpair on a linux machine (a raspberry pi running the latest version of Raspbian) Stort the server and try to connect, nothing.
I tried the app Sixaxis Enable, which is supposed to connect the DS3 via USB, and I get a message saying that it's not supported.
I found an app called USB/BT Joystick Center. After setting the IME for it and connect my controller via USB, and when I click Search in the app, it finds the Unifying receiver, the powered USB hub I am using (I think) and the PS3 controller. It says that I click on it and it says that it loads a built in keymap or something along those lines, but the controller doesn't work...Maybe I just don't really know how to use the app properly, but so far the help option hasn't actually been much help. It says that if I want to use my PS3 controller over bluetooth, that I will need to connect an external USB Bluetooth Dongle with a CSR chipset (which I don't have)
Something interesting I have noticed, is that I have been getting a pop up request to enter the pin for my controller. I have tried 0000 and 1234, to no avail., Using an app called Bluetooth Settings, I currently have my device set to be fully discoverable and pairable.. What I can take away from this is that my box IS seeing the PS3 controller over bluetooth.
It kinda seems to me like all the methods available to do connect a PS3 controller to the FIre TV are all dead, or I'm doing something wrong, which is more than possible.
So I guess my question is, is there a way nowadays to use my official PS3 controller on my FIre TV? I have no real preferece if it is over USB or Bluetooth. (Unless I have company over Iam usually no further than 5 feet away from the box when I use it) and how do I acheive it if it can still be done?
THank you for the patience!

I know this question has been asked and ansered before, but the methods I have tried to use have not worked for me, sadly.

I also had this issue literally tried everything... I moved on and accepted it wasn't going to work, so purchased Bluetooth controllers.. Which would also not pair.. Til I ran a simple command...

Funny enough, I actually just recently found your reddit posts about this while looking for something else. Sadly it did not work for me that I know of.
After running your command via adb, my terminal gave me:
"Result: parcell(00000000 00000001 '........')"
Then I went to the Bluetooth menu, pressed the PS button on my PS3 controller, and tried to discover it as both a game controller, and under Other Bluetooth Devices.
Maybe im not doing something right, or maybe because I have the bluetooth master address in the controller set to the Fire's bluetooth MAC address, the fire thinks it is paired when it is not.
Further help would be appreciated if you know what im doing wrong with that method.
The good news though is that I HAVE discovered (or at least there are no nentions about it that I have seen) a method to use an official ps3 controller over USB, and will post a tutorial sometime in the next 24 hours.
Do you have busybox installed? Try it via the terminal emulator app on the device itself.
Also it sounds like you need to pair it again... In the settings forget the device. Then

Busybox is installed to /system/xbin
After trying to run the command in the terminal emulator included in Apps2SD Pro, I got the same response from the terminal and I still couldn't detect the controller over bluetooth.
