I'm confused on how to explain the problem I am having, but will try to be as short-winded as possible. It doesn't matter what I am in (app or settings etc.) but after I hit the back button ( < ) it takes me back to the top or beginning of the screen. For instance, the CNN app, I scroll down to the middle of the page, click on an article to read and tap the back button, it will take me back to the very beginning like i just opened the app. Not where I left off in the middle of the page. Amazon app acts the same way. I thought it might be an app related problem, but it does the same thing in my Settings menu. I can go to Settings/General/Default message app, and when I tap back button it goes back up to the top. Not a huge problem, but can be frustrating at times. Just curious if other people are having this problem or is it just me. If it matters I have Sprint as a carrier and I have the leather model. Any help would be greatly appreciated

There appears to be NO means to contact the go launcher folks (just spent 30 minutes trying gave up)
anyway LOVE go launcher. problem is the main desktop has 5 screens you can swipe/slide whatever between.
the MIDDLE one is primary. you then have 2 left and 2 right.
for some reason I keep ENDING UP at the far right screen which is very annoying cause I then have to swipe left twice to get back to my main screen.
it seems totally random I will turn on the phone and I am on the extreme right screen.
I also notice if I press home I go home but if I press home a SECOND time it ALSO takes me to the far right screen.
anyway to change/stop this from happening?
Strange... I've been using GO launcher for some time and never had an issue like that. Bad install, maybe?
Not sure. Just installed calkins rom. installed go clean instead of from backup.
will see if it happens again. VERY annoying. SO FAR so good. in fact now home does just what it SHOULD do.
takes me to the center screen and if I hit it twice GOES to center screen if not on center screen.
hopefully it was just a hinky install.
alas like an idiot I did not backup my contacts so the 4 hours I spend attaching pictures and correct numbers and entries in my contacts. all that work POOF. what a moron.
also all my circle launcher backups I carefully made are GONE. I had assumed they were saved to SD but apparently not. what is the point of backups if they go away with the program ???
U can change ur home screen by going into preview and clicking on the home button

Don't want to change the home screen. I want to stop it from moving around
it appears it was a "bad install" or something corrupt.
I installed calkins rom today and clean installed a fresh download of go launcher ex and so far its been PERFECT.
and in fact home works as it should double tapping it takes me to the "center" home screen.
so must have just been a goofy install or a corrupt file or something.
my reply stands ur home screen was not set as the middle screen but the far right one that's why it always went to it and u had to scroll to the left

You know I was about to make a snarky reply of ok smart a$$ you show me the setting. I have been through the settings and there IS NO SETTING for such a function.
and I would have kind of been right. there is a flat out hidden in plain site setting for it I happened upon by accident.
a screen I have NEVER seen before. in fact first time I saw it I had no clue how I did or or how to make it do it again.
after some experimentation I found out if I "swipe up" (something I usually have assigned to a function but had no done so yet on this install) this NEW window appeared that I never saw before.
it have all 5 of my "screens" displayed in miniature and the home screen was "green" but I was not ON the home screen (only reason it stood out to me otherwise I would have ignored it)
and then it hits me. I bet whichever one is "green" is the one it defaults too. sure enough if I touch the house on one of the other "screens" IT became green.
sure enough it was the "default" now.
I have no idea how it got changed (maybe when I was reaching in my pocket or something??? because i had never seen that screen before and I can find NO means to "invoke" that screen THOUGH hold on that give me an idea.
HAHAHA sure enough if I goto "EDIT" from the soft menu it brings up the same miniature window display. I had never bothered with THAT either
Just assumed it was to EDIT the "dock bar" which I had no desire to do.
so I must have gotten into that screen at some point and changed the "default" and never even knew it
how funny. of course I canceled the aggravated post and waited till I got home (now) to reply. Just found out "edit" did it right now too
I guess I misunderstood your original post. It sounded like you had been able to get to your intended home screen with one click, but a second click was sending you elsewhere. Sorry, guess I overthought it.
thats what it was doing.
many times it was at right screen (boot up wake up etc..)
sometimes it would take to home but hitting again would goto right screen.
I am almost certain I somehow "changed" the default screen as "home" without knowing it.
when I do it on purpose now it behaves exactly the same way it seems.
at least its fixed now and if it does it again I know whats wrong

i've also experienced some of the other screen issues that others have when the phone is charging, but i have noticed something more specific: w/o any other apps in the multi-task queue, i press vol-up to press play on my current song, and when the song comes on, my back button stops workin. actually all of the soft buttons do this, but after 10 or so seconds, home and search button come back, but back button still unresponsive. Sometimes happens when I have multiple apps going on as well. Kind of an annoyance.
i'm considering going back to the store to check my options, but (even though i don't think i'm qualified to make this distinction) it may be a software issue that may be updated with the connectivity issue on the 16th?

I can confirm this. It happened to me just today. I was using the "Sleep" app made by a buddy of mine. I played a sound from the app and then I hit the back button. It took me into the multitasking view. I literally could not exit the app unless I hit the home button. Afterwards, my back button stopped working but the home and search was still functional.
I let the phone sit for a while and everything started working again. I don't know if this will be addressed in the 16th update but I really hope so.
I also heard that a battery fix is coming as well.
One issue I have always had with Android is knowing whether or not pressing the back key will take you to a previous menu or close the program. Now that the back button is dynamic, would it be possible to create a mod where the back button turns into an "x" when it will close the program? I think this is something that should be part of ICS, but I also know that modders can do some incredible things.
I wouldn't get your hopes up. Every application is coded differently and it depends on the developer to what function the back button does. I think for this to work, hypothetically, you would need specially designed applications to include this feature.
You could have the button linked to environmental variable that always takes you back home, bypassing any specific app uses, however that would be redundant since you already have a home button. Other than that, I don't think there's another way to do it, definitely not dynamic since its up to the specific App. However, I remember on CM7, there was an option for SMS so that the back button always took you to the inbox, and not just quit, which I miss.
The application controls whether the back button moves you to a previous screen, home screen, or even exits the program.
Edit: Just noticed I repeated what everyone else said
If it were possible to mod Android so that the back button was unable to close apps, I would be very happy. Could this be done?

Don't think of the back button as closing the applications. Think of it more like the button triggering the app to close itself. It's an app specific issue, but not really an issue... Just use the home key!

Just an example using Google Music:
Listening to music, I want to go into the app using the widget or icon on a home screen. Sometimes it goes to the Now Playing screen, other times it will go to the Recent/Artist/Albums view. (Which is a whole 'nother issue I have with Android)
I don't wan't the back button to go back to the home screen, I want the back button to back within the app. If the system can be modded so that the back button never navigates to home, I think that would work for me.

Yeah I have noticed this with Google music. Hopefully Google will update this with a fix but understand it's not an 'android' issue its a apk issue.

Hello Forums,
Today I pulled a stupid with my phone (long story). After spending a short time getting my phone back to it's previous state, I noticed I no longer have the button to clear all recent apps at the top right hand corner of the screen when the "Recent Apps" UI is in focus. I know I can swipe them off one by one, but the button that cleared the entire list with one go is much preferred.
My question is how to I re-enable the button to clear the list of recent apps? I've gone through settings 50 times but am apparently missing the option.
ROM: CM10.0.0-stable
Thanks
Since the 4.4.2, I having this bug but I thought it was a feature until I came across this https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=63570

Does anyone else find this annoying? I rapidly hit back when I want to go home (when home button is right there, I still prefer the back button :silly
I have the same habit. I'm trying to train myself to just hit Home. It's taking some time... haha
My device ( in 4.4.4 KK) has same behavior. But while I hit back button, it shows my default browser UI (Chrome or Opera). It's a little annoy
