Great! Let's hope this doesn't patches up the root exploits.. anyone can confirm?
Can anybody try whether OF8 can be rooted using unikernel?

Took about the same amount to update mine... It seems faster, dont know exactly what the changes are but i thought it would of included samsung pay
I received the update as well. coming from 5.02 the update package was around 600 something mbs to download. No huge differences shooting out to me just yet but time will tell
Depending on your carrier the size of the update will vary, as you can see on screen shot my tmobile update was 102.97 mb.
I was on 5.1.1 OTA stock firmware.

Any update for the Stock Camera app, guys?
Apparently it's an update to fix issues with the battery and various bugs. Just updated gonna see what it's all about today.
Make way for all the battery life and memory question. Oh and RAW as well. That seems to be a popular topic these days.
Installing now. Coming from COF6 it was 102.97mb download. Hopefully it fixes my phone. It's been laggy as can be and had tons of battery drain.

Doesn't appear to be any change, and the app still reports as Version 4.0
I'm currently rooted on 5.0.2 - what would be the best method to update to this version while keeping root (if possible). Thanks in advance!
Just got my update also. I will update on how it runs by the end of day.

If you also care about keeping Knox in tact with root on this OF8 5.1.1, you're simply out of luck. If you don't care, flash the OF6 Odin image and then check for system updates (or just wait for this OF8 image to be posted). Then install TWRP and/or the latest Unikernel.

Unikernel roots this ROM, no problem there. You are right that people coming from OCG need to be very careful they enable OEM unlock in developer options before they root, though.

Some folks that "odined" OCG didn't have the option in developer options to turn on OEM unlock.
So for them its extremely risky.

I unlocked, rooted, and flashed the leaked 4.1 update a couple weeks ago. Now I'm getting the notification for the official OTA.
1. Is there any beneficial reason to update?
2. If not, how do I disable the notification from reappearing constantly?
3. If I do update, will I lose root? Will it wipe my phone?

1. Yes, the OTA update is for 4.1.1 which contains additional fixes, etc. over 4.1. See other threads in this forum for details on the exact differences/improvements.
2. n/a, update to 4.1.1.
3. You will lose root, but if you use CWM to flash the OTA manually just also flash SuperSU immediately after, before rebooting (this is what I do.. there are other "keep root" methods as well, as described in other threads). The OTA update will not wipe your phone.
Note that this assumes you're running the stock odexed and unmodified version from Google I/O. If you're using a modified version, you'll need to flash a factory image and update that. You'll also need to be running the correct radio. See other on-going threads in this forum for more details.
Hope this helps.

I'm not seeing the changes between 4.1.1 and 4.1.
Can anyone provide a link? I'm browsing the desktop website from my phone, so not very convenient to read through every thread.
Anyone?
Look at it from this way: 4.1.1 is Jelly Bean.
4.1 is not Jelly Bean, it's a preview build for developers that is was intended for everyday use. What do you hope to achieve by not updating?
The leak wasn't s finish build ... it was still buggy here and there ..
4.1.1 fixes some things, plus its a major release ...
Why would you want to stay on a leak for?
It takes literally about 5mins to root your device again

Simply put, update to 4.1.1 and then if your using a Windows PC, install the Toolkit in the Development forum, and then re-root using that, takes all of about 2 minutes.

Does anyone even know what was changed in 4.1.1? I've been searching through these threads and Googling but haven't been able to find a single post detailing the differences.
So it sounds like you were already predetermined to stay on 4.1. Why did you bother asking if you should update if you were only wanting replies that agreed with you!?!

If you look at the OP, I clearly asked if there was any beneficial reason to update. No one posted a single concrete reason to update aside from "it's official". If someone would have posted actual, real improvements that are in 4.1.1, obviously I would have taken that into consideration.

Simple versioning says that a 4.1 to 4.1.1 update is an extremely minor update to start with. For the most part, it's just some extra polish and a few minor bug fixes. Some people report that it's essentially the same, while others report that 4.1.1 is a bit smoother than 4.1.

There's a new OTA update available for the Galaxy S4 SGH-M919V variant from Wind Mobile, Eastlink, Videotron in Canada.
This is the update that finally brings the much awaited Apps2SD feature to our phones. It also includes the following enhancements:
- Some new icons in the settings
- Additional 'Smart Pause' button in quick settings
- Stability improvements
- Upgrades the camera firmware.
- Storage shown as 16GB now, but 6.38 GB is occupied by System memory under 'Misc'.
Firmware version: M919VVLUAMG1

You son of a ..... ;__; :crying:
I realize it's always an agonizing wait to get your hands on the newest firmware. However, there's a bright side to it. You all are still able to root and tinker with your devices.
I haven't been able to root the newest firmware using motochopper and am hesitant to try CF-Autoroot because in the case it does trip the flash counter and I loose root, I won't be able to reset it.
So, by the time tmobile sends out the update, there hopefully is a way to root.

Updated info from HTC
Here is further info from HTC regarding updates to the Verizon HTC One (about halfway down the page). 4.3 update in December, and 4.4 late January.
Quote: HTC USA also addressed the question of Android 4.3 and 4.4 updates for the Verizon HTC One, which yesterday received a small update to its existing 4.2-based firmware. HTC describes this as a "compatibility update," to be followed by a 4.3 OTA in December. The delay to the Android 4.3 rollout on Verizon won't affect the planned 4.4 launch on the carrier in late January, HTC's message added.

It did and often does.
It updated recovery and hboot, which would be very possible to have to change to allow the 4.3 OTA to actually flash properly when it's put out.
So if we didn't do the OTA we will have to do an OTA.zip to do the 4.3?

Taking the OTAs
Guys, I am at a loss here...I got the Verizon HTC ONE, used rumrunner to achieve S-OFF, Unlock, and Root, then flashed CWM 6.0.4.4 (I do have installed aps that require root if that matters) That's it. No de-bloat, no custom ROM, nothing. When I re-flash the original stock recovery back and try to check for and take the OTAs from the front end, I get "no new software update available". I'm still on 1.10.605.2 and original firmware. Would like to take this thing up to latest, be S-OFF, Unlocked, Rooted still but still off the shelf or stock for a bit more until I have shaken this thing down more.
I like the look of Santod's ROMs, probably will end up there, but not yet . His stock updated ROMs appear to have too much blue baked in for me - I like it off the shelf right now.
Thanks in advance if anyone can help guide me.

Have you frozen anything at all in Titanium Backup? If I remember correctly you have to relock your bootloader to be able to OTA (I may be mistaken though). If I were you I'd just wait until someone posts an OTApkg.zip (I think there's one available already) and just flash that instead.

No OTA will download onto the .02 software.
That was a version that shouldn't really have been distributed as far as I can see.
It will never see or allow for an OTA, so you will need to update to a stock .08 or stock .10 rom to be able to get the .15 OTA.
By the way, my stock roms are 100% stock, I did not change the colors of a single thing in my stock roms.
They are there for the 100% stock experience and for restore purposes. The .15 will be posted today as well.
NuSenseONE Max has blue elements added, but none of my stock roms do.

As stated, I don't think the .2 software was supposed to be distributed.
As you can see from the story above, it does not pull the OTA's.
I have seen this now on the last couple OTA's where folks on .2 were not able to see any updates.
One user took his to Verizon to have it replaced/updated there.
Most of them appeared to have had .2 at one point and then were updated/reflashed to the .8 and the box relabeled before being sold.
Most of the boxes still had the .2 sticker under the new .8 one.
Point is, it wasn't supposed to be distributed as far as I can tell and since it's not truly a Release version, it won't update.
You would have to ask Verizon/HTC for any further clarification then that.

So, I'm curious about the new sony 4.4.2 firmware. I'm presently on 4.3(10.4.B.0.569) stock sony, not rooted yet. C6506, Locked bootloader allowed = no
Is there a chance that the update change the status of the bootloader allowed to yes?
Is there good chance that I will be able to root my ZL, in a near futur, if I take the update?
And switch to Existenz present or next rom?
Should I just dont take the update, root, install present existenz rom and patiently wait for existenz rom to switch to 4.4.2?
I'm presently moving house so I probably won't have time to work on the phone before one month.
So what do you guys think ?

Bootloader unlock allowed: no. so you definitely cant unlock bootloader.
near Future root. i really doubt. as you can see the development is slow for this phone.
however you can downgrade and root your phone and take OTA and preserve root till 101. but i have no idea about KIT KAT as i didnt get it yet.
Sony stock rom is really good. i used the stock rom without root for a year, since its been a year i unlocked and currently on CM11 latest nightly. just to try something different.
if you are asking question here regarding the update. i would definitely suggest you to update as you wont find better rom than stock for the time being.
So go ahead and update and tell us about it. (still waiting for update notification here)

First, thank you very much for your response :highfive:
Do you mean that it's possible to downgrade after the update if I want to? Via flashtool?

Yes, it is possible to downgrade after the update using flashtool
You will need to have the ftf for the software version you want to go back to for the hardware version you have.

So I took the update, played a little bit with it.
Very fluid, maybe a little bit more than before.
The look of the new drawer is cool, but parameter are one more click away via drawer.
In parameter section, it feel's more sluggish than before.
No double tap to wake :crying:
That's it for now, got to work
My friend says his battery life is way worse on the new update

My battery is totally being eaten up since I got the update. I've had the phone a few weeks. Love it to death but I was literally watching the battery percentage drop as I was checking my mail today. Maybe after a few more hard resets this newest update will settle down.

Wrong, this is kit kat 4.4 base build, you can now swipe your two fingers down from the notification bar to directly go to your quick settings. ?

I agree, I can see the battery lost flow
Before, at the end of a day, around 60% was left and now it's around 35%-40%

You beat me to it! Nice to see security fixes coming even if versions are left behind.
Does it break the root?

I'm not sure what you mean. To get the OTA you can't be rooted in the first place. It's only a security fix, so if you have a 100% stock phone, you can root like the last version since it doesn't change anything in regards to root.

I use Kies or Odin for updates not OTA.
My phone is rooted with Knox 0 x 0 and is working fine.
I would not touch to anything if I will have to root again after this update.
Sometimes small updates do not change the root status.
Just wanted to know if this one will take the root away.
Got you. I've never tried updating while rooted, so I don't know what will happen. Sorry.

I'm glad they threw us a bone, but it took them 5 months to fix stagefright in an update that basically only fixed that? Surely they could have done it sooner, or did a proper 5.1 update in that timeframe...

From what I read they are working on 5.1.1 for the Note 3 (I know 6.0 is out). It takes a long time (yes months) to make sure everything is compatible with TouchWiz. Personally I don't need it as 5.0 works flawlessly for me. I'm not one to need the latest OS. If my phone does what I need/want I'm happy. The only thing I worry about is security, and now that they fixed it, I'm really happy.

Where did you read that? There used to be a 5.1.1 update listed on the updates page but it was pulled months ago. T-Mobile would not even confirm whether or not anything at all is/was being worked on, or if the phone was abandoned. I highly doubt we ever get anything past 5.0 at this point.
I do agree on your other point, the Note 3 still holds up extremely well against current gen phones. I bought and returned a 6P because it just wasn't a $500 upgrade and the battery life was worse than my 2 year old N3 (original battery).

My bad. It was the Note 3 Neo, not ours. Yes I agree this phone is still awesome. I have an Anker 6400 battery, and it lasts two days easy. With all the features the Note 5 removed I'll be sticking with the Note 3 for a while, or at least until it breaks, or the next Note adds back the SD, removable battery, and IR. Those are the three things I love the most. Very power user friendly those are.

Is there a way to root it without triggering knox 0x0 after update?
I think he cares about keeping root after update without triggering knox count.

Hey, just got this phone and T-Mobile will not allow for an OTA update. When I try Kies it doesn't like the S/N (I used IMEI). Is Odin the only way? If so, is there a completely (I don't even require root) STOCK version of most recent rom or just the one prior to this? I'm currently only 4.4

Just download the current ROM (FOL1) from here http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-N900T/, and use ODIN to install. When you click the Kies download button you get instructions, and a link to ODIN http://dl.sammobile.com/Odin3_v3.10.7.zip. Just follow the instructions, and you'll have it updated in no time.

Anyone tried to update with flashfire to keep root and knox 0x0?
