[Q] Stock Dialer on 551? - ZenFone 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone got the Stock Lollipop dialer and contacts working with the 551 that come with Nexus devices or CM?

I have ripped GoodleDialler and GoogleContacts apk from my old Galaxy S4 Google edition rom and made a flashable zip.
Flashed it in recovery and than froze default Asus Dialler.
Seems to be working, but its bit weird.
When you open dialler it's minimized (you can see strange recent calls log screen). At the bottom there are minimised Speed Dial , Recent and Contact Tabs. I need to swipe up to see them
Also when searching contacts the Google id search thingy is not working (like you type pizza and it should find closes pizzas places based on your location...)
And contacts photos are not right - first 30% of photo is ok than its distorted.
I have received and made phone calls fine.

[REQ] Modded Dialler

Would it be possible to alter the way the dialler displays a contact's picture when a call is being made/received?
At the moment, it takes up the full screen and looks horrible if you use the google contact picture.

Kitkat Dialer with search features on any 4.4 ROM!

The apk was taken straight from the Nexus 5, and has the search feature actually working! (confirmed)

Here's the apk which if you want to be able to make calls, you need to put in System/Priv-app and set permissions to 644:

FAQ from the website
I installed the app but the icon doesn't show up in my app tray. What can I do?
If this happens on your phone, the only solution we found was to use Nova Launcher because it has a feature that allows you to run a specific activity within an app. To set this up:
Within Nova Launcher, long-press on the home screen.Choose "Shortcuts"Select "Activities"Find "Google Dialer" in the list, then tap to open it up, and select "Phone" (use the first one in the list)
This will put a shortcut to the dialer on your home screen. At this stage, you can use this to access Google Dialer. It's not the cleanest solution, but it does work.
Can I disable my default dialer?
The short answer is no. As a general rule, you will need to keep your present dialer enabled in order to receive calls. The long answer is that on some phones you might be able to disable your stock dialer, but on others you definitely cannot. Feel free to try it on your own device and let us know what your results are.
(I disabled the first phone apk of the 2 that show up (flashing adds another one and I had it A-Z order))
EDIT: After disabling the APK, when I select "Call" the phone doesn't show any call screen whatsoever, and still has a call going, (mic works, and you can call, but the only way you can hang up is to leave the app and click the extended notification)
Again, this is all them!

[Q] Stock dialer name display order?

Is there any way to change the order of how the stock S6 Edge dialer displays contacts when they are calling?
I have contacts from different parts of the world with REALLY long names and the last names usually are not displayed when the person is calling.
So, basically, I want stock dialer to display Last name first and then First name. I managed to change the view in the Contacts app, but not in the dialer...
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How to get ZenUI dialer and contacts work for Lineage OS on OP5

Hi,
The Google or stock dialer are crap, have no dual sim support to remember the default sim for contact. I previously was using Zenfone and thought the dialer would work for Lineage. Installed it from Play store and tried to set default app for phone from settings, but the options show only contacts app but not the phone app of ZenUI dailer & contacts. when i go ahead and make the contacts app default for phone, I would endup in a situation where i'm unable to make and receive calls. There must a way we can get this to work, ZenUI dialer and contacts app is quite user friendly, it would be great if someone gets this to work for Lineage OS.

Sid

Question Multi tasking/window : which apps do you use?

Just curious if anyone uses the multitasking/multi window option, especially now in OneUI 4.1.1 / a12L. If so, which apps do you use together?
I must admit, excited as I was to use this when I first got the phone (and the updated version with the taskbar in the latest update) I keep forgetting to use it.
Most frequently I use email w/ contacts, email w/ calendar. In both cases I am visually transferring data or cutting and pasting. Sometimes it's a web page with contacts or calendar.
I use it occasionally, more often using the pop-up feature for the calculator and sometimes other apps like Chrome or Notes, but I've been using pop-up for years. The most recent time I used the multi-screen was two fold: Samsung Browser and Notes to make a list of good berm plants, bushes, and trees from a Web site that lists them after looking up what they each look like; and Samsung Browser, a photo app, and a share screen for saving some idea pics off the Pinterest site (not app) which you can only do by dragging the pic to the multi-screen and open it in a photo app to save it from there.
