[Q] How to Downgrade from 5.0.2 to 4.4.4 ? - HTC Desire Eye

After I updated my HTC was very slow and the battery is being drained ... Is there any tutorial to downgrade ?

Either restore the backup you obviously made as a responsible user before updating (*hinthint*) OR find an appropriate RUU to use, or a stock backup for your required region that you can restore.

[Q] How to update a rooted DHD????

I did download the update (Android ver. 2.2 ; Software # 1.83.415.4)
but can't install it (my DHD is rooted)
it crashed when restating the phone (in visionary+ I did the "unroot now" option)
Please Help
Have you done a factory reset?
I believe you need to return your phone back to stock. Remove any modifications and restore any system apps that you may have removed. Reset S-Off back to default. You can use one of the HTC WWE updates to return the rom back to factory default but beware this will wipe all data. Have a search on the forum and you should find plenty of info on how to carry it out.
Im sure the update contents will be rolled into custom roms soon anyway so there really should not be the need to go through all this bother.
two days I'm trying to find a way to update
my software is 1.32.405.6
and for two days I'm trying to find a way to update still nothing
(this is my first android phone)
and this what I did:
I finished from Titanium Backup
then ROM Manager and CWM Recovery (it took me some time to figure what is CWM , DHD is my first Android phone)
then backing-up the system and transfer it to my hard-drive
then updating using ROM Manager
when trying to update using ROM Manager and CWM Recovery
it restarted the phone to CWM and when trying to install it got an error and aborted the installation
********
so dose that means the the only way is to reset back to factory?
and how is it done??
will it take my ENG S-on to ENG S-off?

There is a good guide here which talks through the process of rooting. It also discussed how to return to stock. You might find that you have problems with your backups if you return to stock. You need to be running as root to restore the backup with titanium. As far as I know there is no easy way to gain root with the latest update (Visionary no longer works). I had to go through the downgrade process to allow me root access.

If you decide to keep root and wish to try a custom rom I would recomend that you follow through any bits on the above guide that you have not done yet and try Android Revolution. It has most of the HTC stuff included + some more improvements. It runs faster than stock also.

Good Luck
I use it also (revolutionHD) is has latest Android version.

[Q] Installing RUU then restoring backup, pointless?

Hiya people!
Would it be pointless in installing the latest RUU, relocking and installning, then go back to unlocking the phone and restoring your latest nandroid backup that is based on a RUU earlier than the latest one?
I'm thinking that you're getting the new radio, hboot and such but lose the ROM specific updates, right?
Or, since our beloved developers are working so hard and pretty much all the time, should one just wait for the ROM you're using to get updated until you do install this specific RUU?
I hope that this made sense..

[Q] How to Upgrade to Lollipop with Rooted Phone

Hi guys,
I currently have my HTC One (M8) rooted / unlocked with TWRP 2.7.1.0.
I've also currently running on Android Revolution HD 10.2 on my phone.
I've read and found that Lollipop has just been released for my region (HTC_044) which can be found here :
http://www.carbontesla.com/2015/01/htc-one-m8-4-19-707-2-lollipop-ota-asia-wwe/
I would like to update my phone in accordance to this latest OTA (Latest firmware / hboot / etc).
What would the steps needed to install the OTA? Or as in the website, there is also a nandroid backup. If I flash the Nandroid Backup, would I have the latest hboot / firmware etc? I am planning to install the latest Android Revolution HD ROM later for Lollipop as well.
Do I need relock my bootloader / re-install my stock recovery / re-install stock rom?
Please advise.

The main steps in upgrading are to restore the nandroid backup that matches your main version number and flash back the HTC stock recovery and then perform official ota's. Those ota's will take care of the hboot upgrade and such.

Hi Mr Hofs,
Thanks for the reply, so that would mean I don't have to re-lock my bootloader right for the OTA to be able to upgrade my firmware etc?
Cheers

correct, you do not have to relock the bootloader.
Can I use a Nandroid Backup with the Lollipop Version itself or must I use a stock nandroid backup with Kit Kat and then upgrade to Lollipop?

Its wise to update officially via the current kitkat nandroid backup. Because when the ota is installed correctly you know for sure that the hboot/firmware and software are oke and upgraded as should
Another quick question,
What if I've already downloaded the OTA file itself? What are the proper steps to update?

Nandroid Backup Needed

Hello guys, does anyone have a 3.29.166.9 twrp backup? Or a m8 with cid-vodap110 so he or she can make a fresh nandroid backup so i can go back to stock. I tried x.x.161.x backups but they don't work with cid-vodap110. Vodap110 is specific cid for Swisscom ch. Thanks in advance
No one has it?
Why don't you contact the other guy that already updated to 4.xx.166.x
Ask him for system part only. Then you can use it to update by flashing firmware first.
(I have the firmware but no backup)
Are you running a rooted/modified stock ROM now ? If yes, you can backup that and upload for me.. I will try to fix the error.
If you're running a custom ROM, you can flash the updated firmware and then install a lollipop custom ROM ... this can be done too.

I'm running a 4.16.401.10 stock firmware, and it works great even if it's not for my cid,but i would like to have official ota and for that i need stock firmware. I contacted many users with .166 firmwares but no one want's to make a backup :/
You don't run 4.16.401.10 stock firmware but you run a stock 4.16.410.10 ROM.
You can flash your stock firmware 4.19.166.2 then run 4.16.401.10 .. at least you can have a lollipop firmware running a lollipop software.

Need to totally factory start my HTC ONE M8
Hi guys, i really hope you can help me here.
I have a HTC ONE M8. It is a UK version on EE carrier. the CID is ORANG001. in fast boot it is blank next to OS- (don't know if tyhat matters at this point) I have S-Off through SUNSHINE. I have no oringinal back up. I have tried flashing the recovery found in my OTA updtate and several others that say they should work in various other threads, all through ADB Fastboot says it sends and writes ok but has no effect.
I have unrooted, factory booted, and am at the end of my tether. EE will not replace the handset if it is tampered and i really dont want to have to pay for a totally new one.
