Hello guys,i bought galaxy tab s 8.4 2 weeks ago and 2 days ago it started rebooting itself. It reboots when flickering white stripes appear on screen and they usually appear when baterry goes below %15 and goes worse as battery goes down.Besides that when i push gpu hard for example change videos on youtube too fast or change between apps fast at background it flickers and reboots.I did factory reboot from recovery and cache clear no luck . Then i opened power saving mod (normal one not the ultra) i realized its not happening at all.But i have to select decrase gpu at powersaving options. Its ok but i want to get full performance from my device so does anyone have this problem too?Any solution?i got android lollipop on it.
Ps my antutu benchmark shows my lg g3 has a bit better score then my tab s 8.4.my score is around 32000.is it normal?
The link below 8.4" owner has the white stripes and his screen goes blank, but it does not reboot.

John.
Thank you for reply. It looks same to mine but like i said mine is rebooting.and does not happen at all in powersaving mod.I dont know what to do.
It sound like a bad battery connection or a bad battery, get it replaced.
John.
Allright hows my benchmark score?i mean tab s really has worse performance then g3?

Hi,
EDIT
Resolved it (kinda), I shut the "Economy mode" and the screen stop the flickering....
---
I'm creating a new thread for this problem got an answer there telling me it's my phone, but I would like to know if somebody else notice this.
It's like on good old CRT. Got a Note I (got stolen) bought a Note 2 and I can see a flickering, like if the display had a 60Hz refresh rate, never notice such a thing with the Note I.
It's more noticeable on white screens. And when you are using peripheral vision, by pointing your eyes like 10 centimeters from the side of the device, the flickering must be more visible
The effect looks like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3jHOwE8MqA not mine but can give an idea of the problem.
Thanks

Never notice it with my Note I, it seems that it's partly due to AMOLED technology, but as I did not notice it on my Note I...
Maybe it varies form device to device...

Then why didn't you return it under warranty?
Go to Display > Features > Smart Rotation . Disable Smart rotation and voila the problem is resolved....

Ok, so if you do not own this device the Note 2, and do not want the device, why chime in and post/comments...
My scraan is flickering too. Feels like old CRT TV. When brightness not at 100% level I can observe this problem. Looks like samsung using PWM to control brightness. I think this is terrible. And I hope this can be fixed by software (adjust brightness by gamma correction etc)
mine also sometimes flickering on the lock screen in the near clock area for about 0,5-1 sec. but no need to worry, i guess its a hidden samsung note 2 feature...
So there are no solutions to fix screen flickering? Maybe we can overclock screen somehow? Maybe alternative brightness control?
The screen flicker mus be due to a bad batch of screens. Mine had the screen flickering too. and even with economy mode shut down and brightness is set to less then 100%. if you rapidly move the phone you can see that you see several screens instead of a blurry moving screen. this way you know it flickers. so for example if you move your phone up and down very rapidly instead of seeing a blurry view of the screen you will see several edges of the screen simultaniously. this tells you its flickering. While just looking at the screen you wont actually see the flickering but its somehow disturbing.
The way i know that your screen is defect is because due to a rescent replacement of my screen on my note 2 the flickering is totally gone now.
But keep in mind that my battery usages with screen on has increased. so i think samsung changed the power management for these new screens so that they wont flicker anymore. but they consume more power now. first i used the screen 6,5 hours and had a standby of 24 hours. now i have 6 hours screen on time with 24 hours standby. so its a bit of a change though. I just tested it 1 time. so it could also be i used the phone in another way when getting only 6 hours.
But just to let you guys know the flickering can be fixed.

Mine gets a little warm when charging. That is normal. Every phone I've ever used got a little warmer when charging.
Mine gets warm when playing graphic intensive games like need for speed MW for over half an hour. Never gets warm on browsing the net.
If it's too hot to hold, then you have a problem. But the Note 2 has about 2 amps current to deal with while charging and that will definitely warm it up a bit...
Note'd too from my N7100...

No you dont need to root your device to use android tuner and its free.
For reset, I personally used the hard reset.. turnoff your phone.. take the battery for 30 sec. and put it again.. after that.. press the home and the volume up at the same time then power the unit up.. release the power button if the N7100 logo appears but do not release the volume up and home button..
A blue screen will appear and choose the factory reset.. use the volume up and down for navigation and power button for enter.

Mine do not get to warm up when I leave it charging at night. It is also true that I put it in airplane mode to avoid any hassle at night.
So... Im getting back my recently purchased Galaxy Note 2014 White Wifi 32GB for another one. Thanks god the shop gave 15 days in order to see if something went wrong.
Here is the point: Once the battery reach some percent between 20-30%, suddenly, just in a second, it drops till 10%, and seconds later, to 5%. No root, no apps opened, no strange software installed, Samsung Motion options used (except some S-pen functions) or Devs options touched, i checked out all this things after it happened the first time. I only used it to search on Firefox, write/read PDFs with ezPDF, see some movies or see how Real Racing 3 or Dead Trigger would see on the screen.
No idea about whats going on.
In adition, im worried about this tablet´s heating. Sometimes gets alarming and it feels pretty uncomfortable, as you feel something could break bad inside if so much heating is hitting the hardware, and men, im just using 3 simple apps at a time. I get Real Racing 3 use GPU really hard but... it feels moron as this game hasnt been update so it can use high graphic settings on this tablet.

Anyone an idea what is damaged? Display or GPU ?
I make a video and published it on youtube but i cant post links
Thx 4 Help
Have you tried a factory reset? The CPU may have gotten stuck at a high workload and hung/burned itself up a bit. If that's so I'm not sure which would be harmed. It might have been the screen because the high heat.
display or gpu,cpu

Yess i did a factory reset and add a omega Rom 60 on it. works flawless except the display lines and power off issue.
If the display is damaged i just can threw it away cause a new cost 100€ same as a used Device.
But if its an hardware issue i could buy a cheap one with broken display.
Big question what could be damaged..
[FIX] "screen flicker, screen freezes, and random restarts with low battery" SMT700
When The Crashes happen: Usually the tablet will crash on Google chrome When the Battery is below 60% and around 15% it will simply crash on the lock screen.
People say the fix for this is to Re solder the battery clip or give it to Samsung to fix
Well I did find a fix But you need ROOT Access
How to fix. First you will need to get a app called Kernal Adiutor. (Link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.grarak.kerneladiutor&hl=en )
Once this is installed You will want to open it and set these values (If you find more stable values tell me and i will edit them here)
Under CPU: (Minimum Frequency: 200MHz) (Maximum Frequency : 1100MHz (Most stable) or 1900MHz (Unstable)) (CPU Governor: Power save) (multi core power saving: Aggressive)
Under I/O Scheduler: (Scheduler: fiops or zen) (Read Ahead : 4096kB)
Under Entropy: (Read: 128) (Write: 512)
Feel free to post better values in the comments
I hope this helps!

I have have the same issue but on the 705 under cpu Governor i have of those settings only ondemand, userspace and interactive...
also on i/o i only have noop, deadline or cfq.... any recomendations as to which i should use would be helpfull
I don't know about this app helping with this problem. But one thing is sure. Taking off the back cover of the tablet(cleaning the antenna contacts) and unplug/replug the battery helps. After this process the battery holds longer.

I had this problems (random reboot, screen freeze and crazy screen flickers with bright flash bars), which occured when it had low battery (below 40%).
I removed the back cover with a guitar pick, unplugged the battery, waited a couple of minutes and put everything back together again.
Until now zero problems, longer battery than ever... So I believe in most cases there's no need to spend any money or send it to RMA.
If you are having these issues, check to see if you have "Turn off hardware overlays" enabled in developer options. If so, disable it. This worked for me and was the only difference between my current Tab S and my old Tab S before it died.

Just have service center change your battery and check its connection.
I have it changed within 3 months after got it bcoz of said problems & everything is fine since till now....
Its been almost a year & the tab's still OK.

Hairline fracture in the display causing the screen to have a permanent green/yellow tint. If I grabbed the top left and bottom right corners and bent the tablet inward at the center of the display, it would go back to normal. Burn in started to become an issue as well due to the damage done. Technically it didn't die. It was just cheaper to buy a new one so I did and gave the old one to a friend.
I also had flickering and restarts. Removing the battery and plugging it back in fixed it for me.

Same here it got so bad I couldn't even use my tablet. I cleaned out the battery connectors with rubbing alcohol and firmly reconnected them. I used not be able to get below 20% battery without the tablet rebooting like crazy and screen getting glitchy. Today I finally was able to completely kill the battery without a single glitch or reboot.

Unplugging and replugging in the battery for permanent fix but requires you to open the case
So just as simple as that? I´ll give it a try.
Exact same problem with my T800. Just straight death the second it hits 58%. however, turning on stock power saving mode (along the same lines as OP) did the trick for me. Not a single crash since then, with both Loli and MM. Also downloaded kernal adiutor and ran it ontop of powersaving mode to overclock\undo the horrendusly slow state. Meh sounds counterintuitive but it worked.
i tried opening the covere method it worked for me but the problem keeps returning after 3-4 months.
OK, I think I'm having a similar problem. I replaced the original battery a couple of months ago and everything was good for a while. For the last 2 weeks, I've started having a problem where the tab works ok when it's fully charged, but when it gets down somewhere below about 65%, the tablet will sometimes just turn off without a warning. When it does turn off, the only way to restart it is to briefly plug it into a power source. You only have to plug it in for a few seconds, but when you do, you can turn it on again. If you don't plug it into a power source briefly it simply won't start at all.
Once you get it started again, it will run for a few more minutes, before it again fails without warning. Once it starts doing this, the time it stays on gets shorter and shorter until you recharge it completely.
Yesterday, I got a second replacement battery to see if that would make a difference, but it behaves just like the first one. I tried unplugging and replugging the battery connector, but it seems to be firmly plugged in and doing that doesn't help.
I'm thinking that it could be firmware corruption problem, so I'm thinking that I will do a factory reset, reformat, reinstall, etc. That's a real pain and I'm not confident that will fix it. Does anybody have any thoughts or suggestions?
The original battery in my Tab S finally died after holding on for 7 years with the annoying green flickering, but fixed it temporarily by unplug and plugging it back in , changing the battery solved it , got replacement battery on February 2021 , 6 months in and the problem is slowly starting to come back , i might consider soldering and strengthening the battery connector like most other forums and answers i found so far after extensive research..
