SM-T800: How to enable MIMO? - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi - I saw the specs for the SM-T800 on the Samsung website, and it said that the tablet supports WiFi MIMO.
If I understand that correctly, I should be able to set up two connections to my 802.11ac router: One on the 2.4GHz band, and one on the 5.0 GHz band.
How do I enable this feature? If it helps or hurts, I am currently running a CM12.1 ROM (NVertigo).
Thanks!

[Q] Which Broadcom chipset is used for Wi-Fi/Bluetooth?

I'm trying to trace through an issue with being unable to connect to my mixed mode A/N Wi-fi band @ 5Ghz.
I need to know if both the chipset in the phone supports 5Ghz N connections and that Android 2.2 supports it (at least as it is implemented with Verizon's OTA 2.2 update).
I can connect, under both 2.1 and 2.2, to the 2.4Ghz B/G band I've setup.
I don't see the SSID (the router is broadcasting) for the N bands. Setting up the connection info manually on the phone just indicates that I'm "out of range".
Troubleshooting this from another angle, if you've got the 2.2 OTA already, and you have successfully connected to a 5Ghz N network (not 2.4Ghz please), that would be good information for me as well. As that would indicate that I've got a problem with my router, or router configuration.

replace [dot] with .
Thank you. That leaves either the phone's OS or my router as the problem.

[Q] Is it possible to set a preferred WiFi frequency band?

Recently I installed a dual band router. After flashing the latest dd-wrt version for this model (a D-Link DIR-825) I set a wireless network with identical SSID's for both 2.4 and 5 GHz radios. I found that with Intel wlan adapters in laptops it's possible to choose a preferred frequency band. With an overused 2.4 GHz band in the neighborhood here it's nice to switch to 5 GHz when possible.
Is this also possible with Android? The phone connects just fine on 5 GHz. However after connecting to 2.4 GHz when the 5 GHz access point is out of range it won't reconnect to 5 GHz when the AP is back within range.
I know I could give different names to both wlan networks and give the 5 GHz network a higher priority in the phone. This seems a bit like a dirty trick however. Any ideas?

Goto the WiFi settings and hit the menu then goto advanced. You can choose 5ghz only from there.
I don't want 5 GHz only. I just want to set 5 GHz as the preferred band when both are available.

Rename both 2.4GHz and 5GHz access points, then advance WiFi > WiFi priority then shift the 5GHz band above the 2.4GHz band..

Thank you but I already mentioned this in the start post. Is anybody able to answer my question? Is it possible and if yes, how?

How to Broadcast Wifi on 5 GHZ band???

Hi ,
Has anyone tried to create a wifi hotspt via 5 ghz band on your Galaxy A50. When I try to create one, I only get 2.4 GHZ option. My two year old infinix zero 5 pro gives me an option to choose between 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz bands while creating a wifi hotspot. Sadly I dont see such options in my Galaxy A50. Is there any workaround for this? As per GSMarena.com A50 does support dual wifi bands.
Thank You.
I got 5ghz band wifi connection...my phone still can connect 5ghz wifi...i am using 505f
Thank yoh for your response!!!
But were you able to create a wifi-hotspot on a 5ghz band on your galaxy a50? If yes, how?
i have this problem with my gopro5...too bad don't connect
It normally works.
The Galaxy A50 can create a Hotspot at a frequency of 5GHz, but you need to enable the advanced setting of 5GHz. It normally works.

5GHZ wifi none usa play devices?

Has anyone else looked into why we don't have 5ghz? I have been looking around and our chipset supports 5GHZ and the AC band (source https://www.qualcomm.com/products/snapdragon-430-mobile-platform) S I am wondering if its not supported due to lack of antennae or has it just been patched out of the kernel.
Anyone got any ideas?

You probably do have 5ghz. Our phones are designed to automatically connect to the strongest signal in range. A sure way to find out is to open /vendor/etc/wifi/WCNSS_qcom_cfg.ini with a text editor and find the line that says, #Preferred band (both or 2.4 only or 5 only) underneath it'll say,
BandCapability=0
Change it to 2. Save it. Then toggle wifi off/on and reconnect.
0 = Both 2.4ghz & 5ghz
1 = Only 2.4ghz
2 = Only 5ghz

Dual Wifi? 2,4GHz and 5GHz at the same time?

Hi, Can RN8pro connect on two Wifi bands at the same time? It should support dual band, but in some review is was not working.
And what maximum speeds do you have on wifi connection?

Not at the same time, I've had many phones with 2.4 and 5ghz and none have supported both conections at the same time, my speed for the 2.4ghz my RN8Pro gets a link of 86mbps, and for the 5ghz network the link is 433mbps, but I don't know if the 433mbps is the max speed that the phone allows or if the router is the one that is limiting my connection.
EDIT: However if you configure your 2.4ghz&5ghz networks with the same SSID and password in the router, when you connect to the wifi, your phone based in the signal will switch between 2.4 and 5ghz automatically.

Well Realme phones can connest on more bands of same wifi. RN8pro should be also able, but on TechTablets sad that i was not possible for some reason. I am asking if anything change with new ROM?
RN8pro shoul have also X antenas for wifi and some other tools.
In reviews, it was stated that the note 8 pro was able to connect 2 wifi connections at once. Is that true and how do you do you that?
