Just a quick question couldn't see anything on the search,
Is there any cases like the official one which doesn't obstruct the screen face or edges and just grabs it but doesn't scratch the device?
Try the Case-mate barely there case. I have it and love it. Thin and doesn't scratch the housing.
Reefhunter what is the case texture, I still need a case but am looking for thin yet grippy. Thanx!

I mean i awkwardly hurt my phone in the most vulnerable place. I thought my case-mate tough would be enough but ive damaged my phone to the point where the lens are cracked and the kickstand won't close. I take care of my phone but some things happen when i least expect it. Like when walking through tight places my jeans would hit the corner of a table and crack goes the lens. Pictures and Video are perfect but I'm going to order a back housing to fix the lens and kickstand. I was wondering is there a case that fully covers the lens? Does the Ballistic HC Series cover the lens directly over? I'm kind of eyeing myself to that case but if there is something better, I'll order it. Thanks.
The case mate barely there covers the lens

God damnit, no one knows about cases?
Are you looking to protect from scratches or damage?
I've had a basic clip over case for about a year now and never scratched my lens. But the other day is was cracked. I ordered a replacement on eBay for 6 bucks. Easy fix.

I recently saw a case that covers all ports, has a flap that covers the camera which you can remove, its 3 layers thick. It turns your Evo into a literal tank. Sounds like something that would suit you well from what your telling us. But warning, the case is enormous. You should be able to find it at your local best buy, or radio shack, i even saw it at best buy mobile.
Seidio Rugged case has a rubber flap that protects the lens.
But it does add bulk.

(If you go to buy one, look around. I got one for $8.)
Edit: try a lens protector for $7

The lens protector doesnt cover the lens and i could see something small hit my phone to crack it.
Trident does
The ballistics covers it so well that you'd have a very hard time damaging the camera. It even has a plastic film to keep it from getting scratched

I am ysing the original Samsung Flip-case with my Note, and I love the functionality. It just covers the screen, and catches the scratches you will get on the back.
And it is thin!!!!
The only, albeit deplorable, issue with it is that the front cover is so badly made, the edges will come off in just a few months, and this degrades our classy machines.
This leads me to the following question: Has anybody seen a cover that is the same as the Sammy one = replaces the back cover, but has a decent front cover, for instance stiched leather.
Edit: Found a post dealing with this already. Can be closed....
Yeah i had the same experience with the flip cover aswell. After a month off use the case edges beggan to fall off the case itself. However now im using ut without any case and i still havent got a scratch in my screen. Maybe a bumper and a screen protector may work as a replacement for you?
i like the orig flip cover sideways that comes with the package. too bad the sides easily gets destroyed
yup Samsung Quality is not that high when it came to the flipcase. i have seen some alternatives here http://partner.anymode.de/tab/galaxy note but i dont know something about the quality.
Samsung original flipcase looks great, but it ain't tough
Any good 3rd party flipcase ?
The samsung flip casr is good at the start but after few heavy usage, the rubber at the sides.of the front case stars to peel-off.
Im thinking of getting thr Tridea flip case instead.

I had the Samsung flip case as well. I really liked the colour, especially the copper coloured battery cover, but like others here the sides of the front cover started peeling off within 2 weeks of use. Looked great, but poor quality.
Now using a Zenus case, which is of much higher quality, and more protective as well.
Just want to know from you guys experience.
Who makes the best cases/covers/shells for samsung?
And if any of you are using cases/shells/covers, which are you using? Would you recomend?
What are your experiences?
I'm not really a fan of the flipcases
Thanks
If you are on a high budget, you could look at the Impact-absorbing Tech21 cases.
Those are of high build quality.
I recently got a casemate tough case for my sgs4 mini and I am very pleased with it, both handling-wise and in terms of general ruggedness.
Did anyone get a screen protector? I loved the exim ultraprotect on my old nokia, but the s4 mini is my first phone with a capacitive touch screen and I am unsure if a screen protector will hurt its responsiveness.
I got a screen protector applied the moment I unpackaged my phone at the shop. They applied a Screenguard branded clear (non-matte) screen protector and responsiveness hasn't been an issue in the 4 weeks I've had the phone.
This screen protector ($4) is a fingerprint magnet though, but it has perfect cut-outs for the light, proximity sensors and front - facing camera as well as the home button.
Case
I just bought a Belkin case named "Grip Sheer Matte" in a blackish-brownish transparent tone for the black S4m (ha! SAM!).
It was 12€ in an electronics store here in .de but you can probably get it cheaper online (see link).
I like the soft and smooth feel. The case fits quite good and protects the back and all edges. The ports and buttons are accessible and the holes on the back for camera and speaker are in the right places.
Cheers,
CS
I bought the original Samsung Flip Cover with view... I think its the best but it was not cheap.
Just got a Samsung Flip Cover without view (which replaces the back cover). After using a ROCK flip case, a MERCURY Fancy Diary flip case and a simple metallic-red non-flip case, the Samsung Flip Cover seems to do its job best. The cover is heavy enough to hold itself down when the phone is facing up, and folds behind nicely such that it is comfortable to hold.
What's the point of having such a small metal bumper? In case of a drop it won't absorb any energy ...
Its probably to protect the original metal rim against scratches and bumps. Good for maintaining the resale value! (The screen protector will protect the front, and the back cover is replaceable)
damn.. i want those pretty and sturdy cases from otterbox, uag, spigen etc
Does the S-View cover also protect the edges?
After almost 2 months I notice that I already have a couple of bumps right on the edge of the screen. I don't want to buy a thick shell since I bought the Mini exactly because of the sleaziness and the S-view looks quite nice..

No. The S-View cover replaces your back cover of the phone. Thus it only protects the back. The sides are exposed except for the left side of the phone where the cover flips over the phone.

For me the ideal would be a bumper, so that the edges are protected and I'm not carrying around a brick. I'll keep on duckduckgoing and see what I can find..
I've been looking for a decent rubber bumper as well. I've only seen a metal one with a weird branding on the side. Do post here if you manage to find one!

I found this one here, http://www.mobilefun.com/40209-flexiframe-samsung-galaxy-s4-mini-bumper-case---black-clear.htm but I might actually get an official samsung case, it looks quite nice: http://www.samsung.com/se/consumer/mobil/mobil/mobiltillbehor/EF-PI919BNEGWW-gallery?subsubtype=bags

Will a rubber bumper protect against a drop (say, from table height)? Will the S-view cover protect against a drop?
I wouldn't be bothered by scratch or bumps on the plastic housing. Mainly looking for protection against the screen/digitizer/glass breaking from a fall.
I bought this one.
Fits tightly around the S4 mini and does not add any bulk. The phone still looks very slim and small. Material is of good scratch resistance but probably not a real bumper. It's slightly transparent, so the Samsung logo and the silver pattern of the back cover shines through a bit. Really looks good.

I just received the same case and it is better than expected. Took less than a week from Germany to UK and less than 10 GBP Inc postage.
This case is so small and thin that it doesn't alter the feel of the phone apart from the texture. It'sthin enough to fit in my S2 desktop charger/dock and also my windscreen mount with the case on.
I ordered the following in blue/black. It looks somewhat...different! I hope it's not too much when I put it on the phone. It came to six euros which is reasonable. I'll post my impressions when it arrives.

Anyone bought this case from eBay and would like to share their two cents on?

Looks like a decent thin case that actually has protection at the top. Looking to pull the trigger on this one.
Wow looks great! Do they have a clear one?

yep. i need that
Thin!! :good:
$5.99?? I got the 0.3mm cases at $1.50 each.
There's also a thread discussing it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2604742.
I have this case, it is very thin, its not TPU but still flexible. The finish is quite good, there weren't any sharp edges on the two black ones I got. The black one isn't see through. I wanted to get a clear one but they were out of stock, but from my previous experience with white/clear cases they discolour extremely easily.
It does get scratched, I have a few minor scratch marks on the back just from putting the phone in the car's cup holder, glove box etc. but you do need the right light to see them.
The case has raised edges around the screen such that the screen wont touch a table when placed flat on top of it. These edges also trap a lot of dust and make it hard to clean.
After a while dust gets under the case but so far it hasn't caused any damage to the phone.
Overall its a good case but you should think of it as a sacrificial item that'll degrade through use. Also, don't expect it to save your phone from a drop. It'll protect the phone from scratches at most.
Hope this helps you guys decide whether to buy or not.
Didn't like it
I bought the case you're talking about. I didn't like it very much. The fit is mediocre. The button cutouts are small, so it's hard to push the buttons. The main issue is that it just doesn't feel good to touch. The material is similar to the textured plastic you get on report covers. Most of this was mentioned in the thread someone linked to above. For me, the quicksand cases are way better and only slightly bulkier.
It looks nice

I'm using this, it's soft plastic. Not even a hard case. So don't expect any protection on shock.
