SMS Widget - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
I just got the G4 (Tmobile) recently coming from a Galaxy S4(Verizon VRUAME7) and I was wondering if there are any SMS widgets out there like the touchwiz one (or whatever was on the S4). I'm still getting used to the phone and 5.1, but I am hoping that there is a similar widget available due to me finding it so useful when texting throughout the day. Thanks in advanced!

I always use APW. There widgets are the best in my opinion

Weather App / Widget Recommendations?

Hi All,
I was just curious what weather app / weather widget do you guys and gals recommend?
I currently use TWN (The Weather Network) app and widget but just recently found out that it keeps the phone awake for a long period of time. Today alone I have had my phone on for 4 hours and it has kept it awake for 45mins of that time. That's not acceptable to me. Please let me know what options you guys use as I will be looking for alternative apps. Thanks.
I snagged the weather bug elite free on amazon whenever they did the free app a day.
any apps for free that automatically update your location
I use fancy widget pro. there's a free version but the pro version is worth paying for. it has awesome skins available and isn't too hard on battery:thumbup:

[Q] Best Working SMS App for the G2/Desire Z

Originally (almost 2 years ago) I started out using ChompSMS. I then switched to Handcent, then to GoSMS, and now I'm considering switching back to Chomp. I feel like GoSMS and Handcent are both catering to newer phones that can handle a lot of bloatware. I'm just curious what everyone else with a G2 is using to send text messages these days. What's working the best for you?

Thanks, I'll give stock a try again but will use a popup app for messages. That was one of the features that drew me to the other apps.
I hated pop up messages. That's why I stayed stock.
If I recall, CM10 now has option for pop up messages, including the quick reply.

[Q] Android stock calendar available for the Note II?

Hi,
I don't like the S-planner, plus it doesn't alert me with passed calendar events if the phone has been turned off during that time. I havent found any solution to this as of yet, but is the standard Google calendar available for the phone instead?
And if so, what is it called?
This is really annoying, please help!
Here is a link to the calendar on the market. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.calendar

Send contact info from within SMS

Is anyone else annoyed that you can't send a contact from the stock SMS app? I love the standard SMS but yet have to have a third party SMS app installed just for this purpose. From the stock SMS you can attach a few things but not a contact. And even from the phone app you can send but through email...not SMS.
Nothing major...just felt like griping about something I guess.
On a side note android keeps getting better and better. I don't see myself even going back to a non nexus phone!

I totally agree it's silly this is not factory android option. I can tell this is a general complaint and you weren't really looking for an app, but check this out:
share contracts via sms
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=shareContacts.NS.com
it's not really an "app" it just adds the menu option to share contracts thru messaging app. you still use stock messaging. I have used this since froyo days. it's super lightweight, you'll hardly notice it's even there...

Yup, I've been shocked time and time again that it hasn't already been added since I first started using Android with Froyo.
Which is weird if you've been using dumbphones for the last 15 years I think most of them could do this.

[REQUEST] AOSP Apps for Stock ROM?

Hey guys, what's going on. I peeked into the AT&T variant of the LGOG, and seen that they had a stock ROM with AOSP apps, like Messaging, browser, calculator, etc. While we do have most of those apps, the one app I really want to complete droidmk's stock/aosp hybrid experience would be the AOSP messaging app, especially since because I dislike the LG one so much. Would it be possible for us to get the messaging app? Or would things get too broken to implement into a stock ROM?

Well I found an AOSP MMS.apk floating around the AT&T forums, but picture mail is borked Other than that, it works perfectly. Would anyone have any idea on a fix?

The 4.1 apps as they'd probably be the most compatible. I've recently discovered that Nexogen actually has all of these AOSP apps, except for MMS. And that's because MMS in the messaging app doesn't work at all. In fact, I don't think MMS works in ANY messaging app replacement from the market.
