Send contact info from within SMS - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Is anyone else annoyed that you can't send a contact from the stock SMS app? I love the standard SMS but yet have to have a third party SMS app installed just for this purpose. From the stock SMS you can attach a few things but not a contact. And even from the phone app you can send but through email...not SMS.
Nothing major...just felt like griping about something I guess.
On a side note android keeps getting better and better. I don't see myself even going back to a non nexus phone!

I totally agree it's silly this is not factory android option. I can tell this is a general complaint and you weren't really looking for an app, but check this out:
share contracts via sms
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=shareContacts.NS.com
it's not really an "app" it just adds the menu option to share contracts thru messaging app. you still use stock messaging. I have used this since froyo days. it's super lightweight, you'll hardly notice it's even there...

Yup, I've been shocked time and time again that it hasn't already been added since I first started using Android with Froyo.
Which is weird if you've been using dumbphones for the last 15 years I think most of them could do this.

After being a user of Tablet Talk for a year now:
1: no issues with WiFi/Bluetooth not connecting
2: no ass ugly UI
3: big developer with longtime user support and base. This is from Koush, as in Clockwork Mod and many other great apps.
4: Syncs to Tablet but the subscription also syncs to the browser and GTalk if that's your thing...
All in all I have been using app by Koush for over 2 1/2 years now and never had an issue, he deserves my $5 per year
This app is awesome well deserving of 5$ a year. The ui isn't hideous and it works ALL of the time.

Spam pushing app
I installed this yesterday evening on my phone. and then my tablet.
not 30 minutes or so after and nearly all night i get spam pushed google email address and sms to my phone... After uninstalling the app it stopped going to my phone NOW My email this morning had 13 messages everything from sex chat invites to insurance and home loan sales companies..
Is there some terms i did not read that says it will do this. Is there a hidden or secret settings.. IM VERY ANGRY Because the only way this can be happening is my phone number and google information given out. Makes me quite concerned about what rom manager might be picking up now.. THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE .. I would think a Developer of this caliber would not do this ...
PLEASE Respond rom manager......

Sorry to hear that, I tried to search tablet SMS on gplay and the top result was for mysms and my mysms tablet, when I searched tabletsms up came the OP version,l.
After seeing your post I decided to try mysms, it only needed my mobile number and a password nothing else, it took a few minutes before syncing sms' on first run to my N7, but it works great, don't think it supports Bluetooth, for me this would be an extra luxury than a necessity at this moment in time.

I dont think Koush would ever do something like this. Im not calling you a liar or anything but I have been using apps developed by Koush and ClockworkMod for years as well as using DeskSMS now for a few days and i dont have an issue.
I would contact him before saying that he did something that may or may not even be his fault. Trust me with the access that Rom Manager has or Clockwork Recovery has, spamming a user with sex messages is the least of the damage he could inflict... just saying
*could it be you signed up for something else and not Koush's (ClockworkMod) TabletSMS?

For me it is not about the ads. It is about throwing a few bucks to the dev for the hard work they put in. That's why the ads are there in the first place. I don't mind supporting them. If I like an app and they have a pay app I will buy it. A couple of bucks is a small price to pay for useful software.

I agree, but when the only difference between free & paid apps is the ads I specifically won't pay because that tells me the dev is only out for $$, and that portrays greed....something I will never condone.

Lol really? If the developer was greedy he would of made it a paid app from the very beginning. I don't mind giving some money to the developer for his good work on a app that I use from a day to day basis.

I don't think they have group messaging. I mean you can receive group messages but when you send via group messages you send each message individually. Not sure if developer fixed it yet. That's only thing from keeping me from using chomp SMS for now

I know I am getting off topic, as well as responding to a really old thread, and I apologize, but I just have to respond here. I agree with hp420 that we should not support greedy (or arrogant) developers. However, developers who only add ads to their free apps rather than crippling or time limiting them are the very opposite of greedy--especially one as useful and popular as ChompSMS! They are being incredibly generous, and they are the ones I am MOST likely to pay. Then again, I am about the only person I know who actually pays for shareware on my computer if I use it frequently--partly from appreciation, and partly because I want to give them incentive to keep it updated.

GoSMS w/ the emoji plugin.
I heard you get a lot of spam with that app?

I get a message or two month. Usually about a new theme they've added or some feature they've updated. Nothing intrusive, or annoying and its usually just a notification in that app that is quickly deleted.

I like handcent...not sure what the downsides are to handcent compared to the others. I did try gosms a while back and wasn't impressed. I could give it another shot though.
I really don't have a lot of requirements for a messaging app. I don't do groups or advanced messaging. Even so, I find the stock messaging app extremely unappealing and not adequate for my minor needs.
Handcent here. Been using it since my original Droid days I think. Just fell in love with it. The only other messaging app that I didn't much mind was the stock one on my Galaxy Note 2, but I've since fallen back to the familiar. I find it functional and customizable enough for my tastes.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda premium
Handscent here as well... with the group messaging plug-in... got rid of the Emoji plug-in due to it messing with my MMS for some reason... maybe a combination of the two... Main reason I got Handscent was the color customization to match my theme.

I tried most mostly because there seems to be a growing requirement for emoji. pffft.
All non stock apps except for chomp scroll very poorly when moving and reading through the messages: go, handsent, etc. Chomp is the only one that scrolls smoothly. However, I cannot attach pics or vids - it crashes. contacting the developer said "fixing hopefully in a week" until then I just use stock app o if I need to send a mms. I'd use the stock app but its emoji is very limited. always a compromise isn't it?

Nexus 7 Kit Kat email replacement

Ok, so ever since kit kat update, the stock email app has become completely useless. The drag and drop feature has been removed and now I cannot delete not move my emails.
My question is what alternatives are worth looking into. I'm dabbling with Aquamail, but it is so focused on multiple accounts that it's features are driving me crazy. Is there anything out there that can match the old stock email app or should I give up on managing my email on my tablet?

It may be good, but I'm always of the mind that if a native app does the trick without issues then why add apps that can misbehave or maybe cause battery drains. If I'm not happy with an app i look for a replacement but not if it works fine. That's just my preference.

Handcent for me. I have been using it for years. I like the customization by contact. You can have different notifications, fonts, backgrounds, sounds and vibrations for each individual. Very nice to know who texted you with customized notifications. I also like the Oops delay. You can set a lag from when you hit send until it sends.
All these features helps visually, physically and by sound who you are communicating with. Less likely to send the wrong text to the wrong person.

Sadly just using stock because at home I use WIFI calling all the time and stock is the only one that always works, all the time, with wifi calling.
But I do use SMS popup program so I get pop up notifications and a quick reply.

I won't use anything from CM these days. Not after what they did to some developers when they became Cyanogen Inc. They basically stole work of other people and left them out to dry. I used to use nothing but CM now, it's just not for me anymore.
Hangouts
I use hangouts, and love how they integrate SMS and Chats.
I had a question though, is there any way our SMSes can be integrated with Gmail Chats?
i.e. If you chat normally on Hangouts, it shows up in Chat history in my Gmail when I see in the browser.
It will be very convenient to have my SMS show up there as well, can search, copy, paste, archive and backup easily.
Anyone else with same thoughts?
