Rom: note 4 mini rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-neo/development/rom-note-4-mini-t2982138)
When i was using stock note 3 neo rom i could be in my lockscreen and say "ok, google, who is barrack obama" and it would show me the picture, text and would read the teht for me. Now when i updated my rom i can't say ok, google on my homescreen/lockscreen and when i press the microphone button i can only use the google search. When i try to use googlenow functsions for example: "sho is barrack obama", "set alarm at 6AM" it skows the text and then chrashes,
Is there any way to enable the ok,google anywhere and google now voice functions without changeing my rom?

CURREBT VERSION-- Android 2.2.1
no mod n never rooted my phone ever..!!!!!
Try to install different keyboard. You can setup mic button in smart keyboard for example
tapatalked from HTC wildfire
Try market for svox and see if that works for you.
sent from my wilderbeast:buzz
cant we do anythng in settings or any app lyk talkback..??
I'm not sure if it's the same in stock rom, but on CM7 if you go to settings>language & keyboard>keyboard settings>voice input - there's a setting that allows you to set whether you see the mic button on the main keyboard or not? Might be worth a look!
for me after installing voice search from market i got the mic button..
By the way im using RemPuzzle ROM with GB keyboard...
You will need to install "Voice Search"
If you can't install it or can't find the apk, PM me and I'll send it to you
Hello to everybody.
I'm trying to find out which is the fastest ROM ICS based for doing the following, where fastest means less number of touch on the screen or number of seconds before getting the desired result:
Call John Doe, when you have in the agenda also John Dui, John Ash, John Bone, John Cut and may be some other John as well as some more Doe (Albert, Stefan, Nat).
And then the same for opening the screen into input mode for sending him an SMS.
I used to have also Blackberry (oh yes, nice email reader but not very nice phone/smartphone), but with it, in every point of the user i/f calling John Doe would mean:
press the red button, press J, press space, press D.
I sow different behavior depending ont the ROM on the phone, but before trying all of them, if anyone can post his result it would be very appreciated.
thanks
Luca
Mate, you talking about speed dial or something?
As far as I'm aware there is no speed dial in the stock ICS or Sony dialers. Most if not all custom roms for ARC either use the Sony stock dialer or ICS stock dialer.
There are a few ways however that you can overcome this:
* On the dialer you can select "contacts", long press on someones name and select "add to favorites". Do this for every one you need. Then on the bottom right of the dialer, select "groups" then "star" on the top right. There will be a screen with all the people which you have added to "favorites". When you touch them you have the option of calling or SMS'ing them.
* You can also go to the Google Play Store and search for "speed dial" and download an app to set your friends on the speed dial list or speed dial widget if you want them on your screen. You can then call or SMS. Widgets are probably faster as you can have all people on the screen without opening dialer
* Probably not when your looking for but typing the first few letters of the name of the person on the dialer will bring up their name. You can touch once to call or press and hold the name for the option to send sms.
P.S You seem to have a lot of friends named John
The new ICS has a feature where you can start typing s name and it will narrow it down for you. Or just add them to favorites
@adielee
not speed dial, just a faster and intuitive dialler.
@irononreverse
something like this. May be the right question would be: which is the most intuitive and fast dialler, and feature rich?
I mean, press home button, touch receiver icon, then touch 5 (jkl), touch space, touch 3 (def)
I'm using today boosthd rom, and in the dialpad is not possible to touch "space" (may be I was not able to find the method)
Also in this rom, it is possible to order t9 selection based on name first or number first (by means of the option screen). But it is not possible to show ONLY name or ONLY numbers. This means that the list by touching 2-3 digits is really long.
anyone else have other ideas/solutions/suggestion?
thanks
Luca
I've been using Google Search app/widget for quick contact access on stock ROM, what I do is I limit searchable items in it's settings to just contacts, and when you start typing, it will act just like quick contacts search.
And you can always use voice search command, launch Voice Search and say "Call John Doe"
Hi, everyone!
Is it possible to patch the app in oder to make the double tap home button feature work? I know there is an app to do that (home my home), but I'd prefer a version of s voice that has already this function and can be used instead of vlingo stock voice assistant. Moreover if stock apk is replaced with s-voice, it may also launch automatically when a car dock is connected.
I think changing the package name with the one of the stock vlingo apk should do the trick (since the function is strictly related to com.vlingo.client.Samsung.apk). I've tried several times modifying the androidmanifest after using apk tool and eclipse but it doesn't work. I'm not so skilled in developing... Can anyone do it or tell me how to do it properly? I'll appreciate that.
The s voice version I'd like to patch can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1664785
Is it posible to set an audible & visual reminder with the S Note App?
EG - Call for Milk On Way Home.. & set it to remind me @ 5pm with a pop up screen & an audio sound?
If so how is this done?
What other things can be done with the Note App.
Thanks
go to the full app if you use the popup version(arrow in the top-left corner), finish your note, press menu, and select "create event"
this will be done through your default calendar app.
as for special features: the only thing i can think of is the popup note, which you can launch from anywhere you want as a small hovering window, by tapping the screen twice while holding the S-pen button.
I am not sure if this is new, but in Picture Insertion Choices there is a choice called (Idea Sketch). it is so cool, i tried to write (Bird) & it gave me few birds pictures to insert! i chose one, & it has been inserted in my original note. That's really cool!
Also the -Knowledge Search- button is very useful.
In addition to the common known functions:
Handwriting to Text
Shape Match
Formula Match
Tab S 10.1 owner here, I wanted to fix and test the following.
1: Fix
The current 4 way Multiwindow Files i use are from the .zip someone posted from one of the roms a few years back, they essentially took the 4waymultiwindow Files from one of the Samsung Note devices, not sure if it was IronRom or SuperV5 ( i forget name, i apologize). Since then we have received the Lollipop update and the icons of the apps when minimized have black pixels around them, they normally minimize to a ring with just a circular app icon that floats on your screen. <See attachment>
2: Test
The current multiwindow on the Tab S2 supports 5 windows and the minimize icons work correctly, would it be safe to assume that simply replacing the following files:
Com.sec.feature.multiwindow.freestylelaunch.xml
Com.sec.feature.multiwindow.quadview.xml
Com.sec.feature.multiwindow.scaleapp.xml
Default location on Tab S:
System/etc/permissions
Would port those features to the Tab S? Has anyone tried this yet? I'm currently waiting for someone from the S2 forums to provide me the files but I would like to hear some input and see if anyone has already tried it and could provide feed back?
Has anyone been able to correct the black pixels around the icon when minimized on the original 4waymultiwindow zip I have attached on Lollipop?
Thanks!
