Hi, Guys absolutely love aosp roms and only use them hate stock as there are so many ugly and annoying features that are implemented that cannot be removed and slow downs the device and the appeasing looks of the use, so aosp is only roms i use however the camera on aosp is really poor on my lg g3, put them next to my partners stock camera, shows how off the colors are on aosp its so washed out and colours are wrong, also the laser focus is not being used on aosp, any options or will there be any this year? or is it go aosp and kill the camera?
thanks

It is "go AOSP and lose camera"
No, it's very hard to fix it, and LG won't release it's sources.
Assume that it will never be fixed.

Didn't they find a way to use the LG remote app in aosp ? Would the process involved be the same ?

IR blaster was already supported by CM, and apps like AnyIrRemote worked on G3 before the port. Laser autofocus is not supported by cm in any way.
... Though, miracles do happen. Someone may be able to port it.

I hope they will. Thankfully for me, I don't use the camera of my G3 all that much.
The lasers do switch on when the camera is being used.
I've read through the forums a bit and have not found an answer to my question so here goes.
I flashed CM12.1 on my D850 a few days ago and love it. Thing is all the different camera apps available that I have tried suck except for Oppo. Still it is no where near equivalent to the stock camera app. Would it be possible to make a driver for the stock camera app that would work with CM12.1 or even other stock roms? If so how would you go about doing that? What would be needed? I have used Xcam for the stock rom and really like that camera app. How hard would that be to port over to CM12.1? The Stock ROM that comes on the G3 is not all that bad but I personally love android when it is in its truest form, but I also like a good camera.
If nothing about can happen are there any custom Stock Roms? Rom's that would allow use of Xcam or stock camera but still allow the level of customization?

No, missing LG framework = no stock camera possible on AOSP roms.

Hey thanks for the respones and yes I know the question has been asked I guess I wasn't clear enough in what I was asking. I meant would it be possible to add what is needed to get the camera to work? Like pick apart the parts of the framework that is needed and integrate it into cm12.1. That would allow the addition of a few cool features of the lg stock rom

That really doesn't matter to me. I am more interested in the quality of pictures and also the burst capabilities of the LG app
Anyone that what's to going this project is welcome. This project involves finding a way to install the stock camera to asop ROM (like CyanogenMod,blisspop...)
Please help with framework.
alot of developers said it is not possible because it is too much complicated framework and also LG wont release all of their source code so its basically impossible right now

Even if you can, that would not be stock camera... That would be another port like Moto camera, snapdragon camera, lenovo super cam and none of these are even close to stock quality... So what's the point if it's not stock it doesn't matter...

alot of people dont get it
the orinal rom is using bin files that are close source and only working for that rom ,
so to port it , you need to port all of it , not just the app( only app is easy) but getting the whole framework to run a hell.
you can port the app , but will have no effect noone will -> because it has no effect
porting all files , is hard its closed sourced
and building a stock app for cam is the same as downloading any other app from market (you don't have the source for all de features you get with the normal rom)
and witch cam work best depends on the user , but i guess that a lot will say stock is better
eh
I wouldn't worry about it, you don't miss out on all that much anyways. Just a few features are not usable through generic camera apps. I personally use the Google Camera app and love how it works with my G3 on AOSP (BlissPop 3.4); though, I do notice a slower focus time due to no laser focusing.

This thread hurts my head.
This phone has been out for a year and a half, there's been millions and millions of man hours gone in to developing, tweaking and messing with the workings of this phone, yet there is still no camera that matches the quality of the stock camera on AOSP. Just accept that it isn't possible and likely will never be possible like it was mentioned earlier.

Hi everyone,
So I'm thinking about switching from MIUI to a custom ROM, and I was wondering if it is possible to use the second camera with custom ROMs like Lineage or RR (or whatever ROM out there). I don't know much about camera protocols and as far as I know there is no standard one for dual cameras, so I don't know if just installing Xiaomi's camera on a custom ROM will take use of the second camera. (I don't even know if this precise camera app is installable from anything else than MIUI). Also, I've myself not encountered any camera app out there that can take advantage of the whyred dual camera.
Of course I can rely with some AI cameras for lens blur and portrait mode, but I don't know, I just don't like the concept of losing the utility of an hardware piece just because the software can't "afford" it.
Thank you for reading, guys.
Interesting question! And even more important, how is the quality compared to miui?
Have you tested it with open camera??

Mi A1 forum: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a1/themes/oreo-mia1-stock-rom-camera-app-custom-t3758543
It's reported working fine, except HDR. The feature is turned off by default, but don't take a photo with it being on or app will crash until you restart your device
PS. Please dive through the forums for answers, before opening a post.
Edit: can you guarantee, that your stock camera ain't just for show? I mean did you open it up and stick a multimeter to check?
Edit_2: pls don't try...dual camera are actually working, you'll notice a difference once you compare a stock MI camera app with GCam
And don't try sticking up a multimeter up your Mobile

The phone in question is RN5 AI Dual camera, NOT Mi A1! Totally different phones. The AI comes with SD636 chipset, the Mi A1 with SD625 chipset. The ROMs are not compatible at all.

It is not a rom, he is telling you to flash.
But a Ported Mi A1 Camera app, that works across custom roms.
It will actually allow use of the Redmi Note 5 [WHYRED] dual cameras in manual mode of the app.
Also the AI in the device name, is used incorrectly by some sites. Not the official name or appendage for the device.
Edit: - Last time i checked, no one has ported the MIUI camera from RN5 yet.
I searched a new phone with good ROM support. After some readings of XDA's threads, I just bought RN8Pro, waited a week for unlocking and tried few ROMs.
It ended up that some newer RN8Pro has a slighty different front camera's hardware that is not actually supported by custom ROMs, as it has been discussed in some threads (like this one : https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...xperience-official-aosp.4059977/post-83570951 )
I didn't saw this information before buying, so maybe it is useful that this will be more visible to people who want to buy this phone.
If you have some news about fixing front camera, feel free to respond.
That is a problem that I also face
The front camera does not work on any MIUI with Android 9. But on MIUI with Android 10 it works well...
The problem is that every ROM requires me downgrade to MIUI with Android 9.
Same problem here.
Bought 2 devices 2 weeks ago, unlocked a few days ago and installed crdroid 6.11.
Front camera is not working, GCam crashes on start.
On another device, bought in october the front camera works well with GCam and other camera apps.
Hopefully someone finds a quick fix.
If this camera is a different model, can we identify it using AIDA64?
In AIDA64 -> Peripherals , mine says Samsung ISOCell S5K3T1. I don't know if this is the new model.
EDIT: I read that it's a new revision of the same model so I think this "method" won't work.

Did your front camera work in custom roms?
My sensor is too Samsung ISOCell S5K3T1 and not work on Android 9 with MIUI and custom roms.
Same case for me, the front camera is "Samnsung ISOCell S5K3T1" and I installed evolution X 4.7 and everything works except the front camera, how sad, I haven't found a way to make it work. I asked in an official rn8pro telegram channel and they only told me to stay in Rom Stock with miui until Xiaomi releases the firmware code for these new sensors. The newer rn8pro devices are the ones that have this problem since their front camera sensors are new.
It seems I have the same problem. I wasn aware of that when buying!
I tried the Roms:
Pixel Experience
Evolution
crDroid
Same result on all Roms, everything works except the front camera. As soon as I install another cam app like Gcam, it crashes.
I wish I knew this before buying Note 8 Pro
I hate MIUI, I was going to flash custom ROM as soon as possible. But... Revolut doesn't work without selfie camera. I hope I can relock bootloader and return the phone.
The strange thing is that no custom rom developer can solve this problem
+1 for me being a victim of this new front camera module!
Given the situation right now I/we have to compromise. Working front camera with MIUI (it's unusable for me and I've tried) or no working front camera + custom ROM.
I chose the latter (Pixel Experience 10).
If I do need a front camera I'll have to get my LG G2 (LineageOS 16.0).
Either Xiaomi releases the code for the new front camera module or it leaks somehow. Whichever comes faster.
Compass.
I have also the same Problem.
Samsung ISOcell S5KGW1

Same question here!
What I can confirm that the newest Pixel Experience ROM has the selfie cam working perfectly, I am just not a friend of that level of Google integration.
So I guess we have to wait for one of the other maintainers to take a stab at this, or try it ourself ...
I guess it's a lot more than linking some new libraries, so if anyone can point me in the right direction, maybe a howto, that would be much appreciated.

The front camera is working with Pixel Experience 11 (Build: 16th of march of 2021).
I installed Pixel Experience 11 today and the front camera works (didn't crash so far either).

Front camera is also working on HyconExperience 1.0.
Any suggestions for fix nusantara 3.1
Any one try this
For Devices which have new camera sensor and not working front camera in any Non Cfw roms.
This fix will make your front camera working in any Non Cfw roms.
Steps:- go to twrp and flash
1. MiUi12- kernelsupport
2. boot.img
If you feel crashing only than flash
3. Permissiver
