Hi guys
This is my first post here and to be honest I probably don't have the right words and phrases etc. to explain what my problem is but I really hope you guys can help.
I recently changed the screen on my Galaxy Note II (GT-N7100) and although it was working with the smashed screen when I changed over the screen all it does now is stay stuck on either the Samsung Note screen or an empty battery screen. I know it was sitting up for a week before the screen arrived so the battery probably went dead but I didn't think that would be such an issue, I left it charging all night but the empty battery logo is still there. I rechecked all the connections and all are seated properly.
I went online and people were saying to go to recovery and restore it to factory settings in recovery mode which I did but all that is coming up is red lines of code say things like E:/cache cannot be found / recovered etc. All the red lines of code start with E:/ so I take it that's the operating system.
I then tried Oidn3 and I couldn't find the Firmware for my network here (Three Ireland) so I tried the Firmware for Meteor Ireland another network over here. When I used that Odin went through all the motions and Success appeared in green but when the note tried to start the little green android robot starting blue spinning but the. He was on his back with a red exclamation mark over him.
Again I went into recovery mode and tried to set it back to factory settings etc. but the red lines of code all appeared again.
I replace screens a lot so I know I didn't damage the motherboard so I am really at a loss as to why the happened by just changing the screen or was it because the battery drained. The main question I'm asking here guys is there anyway to get my Note back going again. It seems to be fighting me every step of the way. So I taught I better ask for help from the experts so if any of you guys can help me I would much appreciate it.
Thanks a million guys

Yesterday, when I tried to use my note 2 in the middle of the day, I found the phone stuck at the Samsung galaxy logo. I took the battery out, then put it back. This time I won't even able to see the note 2 logo when trying to turn on the phone. All I have seen is a relative grey screen with white horizontal stripes parallel to each other and some dots in different colors randomly scattered on the screen. Tried to hold VOLUME + Home + Power, I was able to enter the warning screen and see the warning clearly. So I don't think it is something wrong with the screen. Installed odin on my PC, but it seems the phone is not detected by odin.
Questions:
1. Have I lost everything on my phone?
2. What can I do to fix the problem?
3. If I lost all the data and apps, how do I get all the apps back after I can restore/reinstall the android?
Thanks for any help in advance. And suggestions, helpful links are appreciated.

Hi, I am in the same boat here. Rooted SGH-i317 running Jedi x2 on T-Mobile. It froze one day while searching in chrome browser. I pulled the battery, and now it only boots to the same white screen, with squiggly horizontal lines, it never even gets to the Samsung logo. I can get into download mode, but not recovery. Kies won't recognize the device but Odin does. I have tried flashing the most current official at&t KitKat build and a couple others, but it fails with a "no pit file". When I try to repartition with the pit file it fails as well. Wtf!
Thanks for any suggestions.

That's too bad. I was going to give this to my kids to fool around with. I guess it's a mixed blessing since Tmob screwed up my insurance, and ended up giving me a $300 discount on a new Note4.
Hello, new here and I know nothing about rooting nor have I rooted my phone but after looking all over the net I have come here in hopes of finding some tech wizards that can help me.
The Problem:
Turned phone off and a few hours later I tried turning it back on but it only shows the screen with model number and Samsung under it. It shows for a few seconds then the screen goes black and keeps looping like this. I have not rooted or anything. Not dropped in water ( water square is pink though). Phone shows no water damage or corrosion after opening.
What have I done?
I tried booting in recovery and download mode but i have never done it before and I was not successful at getting any other screen besides the model number Samsung screen.
I have tried a different battery after spending some time at the mall (no on carries it any more as it is no longer made) different battery did nothing. Repair guys suggested it may be the button sticking and said hey could clean it for $25. Instead I went home searched the web and disassembled my phone. I cleaned the button areas on the inside of the case and the contact on the inside attached to the circuit board. I have reassembled and it still does the same thing.
After more research I found a video saying to actually remove the internal button from the circuit board to stop the loop (which will leave me with no power button) I have not tried this as I am not that bold (yet).
I am wondering if it is a software problem that can be fixed by using Odin and installing the stock firmware but I just have not found a proper guide that makes enough sense for me to actually try. I don't want to waste my time with something I have never done and make things worse.
I have downloaded Odin and firmware from sammobile but that is about as far as I can go without some hand holding....
Thanks for reading my story any help would be much appreciated.

Try this - Press and hold Volume up + Home + Power buttons together a few seconds, you should get recovery mode. And then find factory reset.

Thanks for the reply. I have tried this many times and tried again after reading your reply. This should work fairly fast from what I understand right?
My phone is a virgin mobile phone (Canada) is it possible they have locked out recovery / download modes?
When I try to start in recovery nothing happens at all. Screen does not light, phone does not vibrate. Again I have never tried this until now so I don't know if the phone ever booted into these special modes when it was working.

It's weird. I found something on page hard-reset.com. I cannot post link here now. I put "samsung ace2 recovery" into google and it was on first page. It's hard reset key combination. Try it.
When you plug the phone into the charger, do you get the battery charging status screen?

Forget my previous post. I was wrong. I try find another solutions.
Is your battery fully charged?
Unfortunately I left the phone on in its waterproof/dustproof cover, inside my fully-packed bag with no breathing space and in the car with windows rolled up under the hot sun for several hours.
Once I retrieved my phone it was already boot-looping.
It was very hot. I opened it up to see if there was anything burnt inside (motherboard, camera, SIM, etc.) but didn't see anything out of the ordinary (I'm no expert either).
It gets very warm quickly when I charge it.
I tried to get into the boot recovery mode to see if I could fix the loop by deleting cache or formatting or whatever tips I came across. It would boot, show the Note 4 Samsung Logo with the blue-lettered "recovery boot" in the top left-hand corner, vibrate, then restart and rinse and repeat.
The only hope I have is that it can get into download mode and I have not rooted the phone yet (and I have tried unsuccessfully so far). Is there anything that can be done to fix this? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.
*shrugs*
Oh well, I'm a bit disappointed there hasn't been any reply to this
I've given up and replaced the motherboard and it's working again.
If any mod would be kind enough to delete this thread which didn't amount to anything, I'd be grateful.
Hello friends. recently my galaxy S3 stopped working while it was charging one day. here is what happend when it suddenly stopped working . I picked it up to send a message to a friend on facebook, after that i tossed my phone down on my pillow and i went back to doing what i was doing. about an hour or so went by and i decided to check my phone again to see if my friend replied. it was then i noticed that the phone was off for some reason. i thought that was kind of weird and just figured maybe it glitched out and just turned itself off or something. i attempted to turn the phone on and it did not respond, but for some reason when i shake the phone or something it would turn on. when its plugged into the charger it doesnt show the charging screen either. occasionally the red light at the top left corner of the device will light up like its charging but then it will turn off again and when it does turn on randomly it doesn't go past the samsung S3 screen when it is booting up. The phone is currently rooted as well but i dont think that has anything to do with my current issue. i just took the phone apart right now to check the motherboard to see if anything was wrong with it or maybe it was dirty ect and when i put the phone back together i actually got it to charge for a moment but i couldn't get it to turn on. ive looked up some videos on youtube about this issue but i couldn't find any info really about it.
so to be clear these are the things i have tried
1. tried to boot it into download mode and recovery mode with no luck.
2. checked to see if it was a hardware issue and everything looked ok.
3. swapped batteries still with no luck.
i dug a little deeper after posting this thread and found out my issue could be what is called SDS (sudden death syndrome) the one thing i didnt find out is if im completely screwed and need a new phone or not. i took it down to my local samsung store here in L.A. and they already turned me down because the phone was rooted and they could tell it was because my phone has a different bootup then normal.
so if anyone could help me out that would be awesome and i would be super grateful. thanks in advance

Let me start with some details about the phone:
- It's a Sprint Samsung Galay S3, SPH-L710
- It was rooted and Cyanogenmod was installed successfully, no problems
- Phone was given to my aunt, and she used it for a while
Here's the problem:
A little while ago, she told me the phone turned off and wouldn't turn off again. I told her to charge the phone and see if that helped. She charged the phone and waited for the battery animation to show up full, and then turn on the phone. It booted past the Galaxy S3 logo, past the animated purple Samsung logo, got halfway through the Sprint 4G LTE boot animation with the music and then boom. Shut off. And then back to the battery charging screen but displayed the battery as if it was only 15% remaining. What?? Wasn't it full a minute ago???
Here's what I did to fix it:
Okay so I thought, it's a battery problem. I purchased a second battery from eBay (not OEM) and the same issue occured. Same exact thing happened. I looked up the issue online and it appeared to be a soft brick. I forgot exactly what I did but I downloaded a recovery file and flashed it via ODIN and it turned on. Phew.
I gave the phone back to my aunt and a week later, the same thing happened. Phone dead. Won't start. Won't get past the Sprint boot animation. So I thought to myself, hmm ok. I'll just reflash and do what I did before. But I mean, how often do I have to keep doing this? And she loses data every time I have to flash the phone.
And so I did. I put it into download mode, opened ODIN, browsed for the md5 file (I forgot what file it was, I'm mad at myself for that now) and flashed the phone. It flashed successfully but this time, the phone wouldn't turn on. It kept vibrating as if it's about to turn on but then dies immediately. I left the phone on my desk for a while and all I could hear was *bzzt* [pause] *bzzt* [pause] *bzzt* and I'm thinking, okay. Time to get an OEM battery.
I finally found an original Samsung battery from an authorized Samsung dealer, I was pretty surprised he still had the battery in stock and bought it from him and ran home. Still the same thing. Kept buzzing but won't turn on. And if I do turn it on, it won't get past the Sprint boot animation.
So I looked and looked and looked and looked online and found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2755793
Long story short, I followed the instructions, flashed successfully with no errors, and now I can boot past the Galaxy logo, boot past the Samsung logo, and finally past the Sprint boot animation until I landed on the Samsung screen. Just a black screen with Samsung that seemed to have a glowing purple around it. I was getting excited. After about 10 seconds, it went to the main welcome screen (the Google setup thing) with the next button and the language selector in the bottom. I was on that screen for about 2 seconds AND THE PHONE TURNED OFF. Back to the battery screen.
What am I doing wrong? Is there something wrong with the phone? Battery? Am I flashing the wrong software? If so, can someone please direct me to the right place?
P.S. If you're thinking, "dude just get her a new phone" she does have a new one now. It's a Galaxy S7 but I really really want to know what's wrong with this phone and it's been annoying me lol
have you tried any other tar.md5 files on it?
