Hi
I have an SM-N910G from Vodafone Australia (sorry if this post is misplaced - I couldn't find a specific forum for this specific model) that I dropped in a 2 inch deep puddle of water for 3 seconds about a month ago.
The phone was inside a good quality rubber phone cover, which I immediately removed and took the battery out. I then dried the phone out by leaving it in the sun for a few hours, followed by the rice trick for 48 hours. After all this, it seemed dry so I put the battery back in it and fired it up...
The phone booted up and seemed ok, but the battery seemed to drain more quickly than I recalled previously (I could have been imagining this, as I now have no basis to compare battery life prior to water exposure). However, a week or so later the OTA Lollipop update pushed through and after installing I swear the battery life has improved and is back to being as good as I remember it!!?
Also, since the puddle incident, the phone randomly reboots itself at least a few times a day, most often when I'm using it. It did this with KitKat and is still doing it with Lollipop installed.
I should mention that, around the same time that I dropped the phone in water I also installed a new 128GB Samsung EVO SD card (because the Gear VR apps take up sooooo much memory space!). I've tried reformatting the SD a few times since the Lollipop updated in case its the SD causing the random reboots - but it hasn't improved - the phone continues to reboot randomly.
I am trying to work out if the phone is randomly rebooting because of the potential water damage; or if it is caused by the new SD card; or the phone is faulty (and still under warranty); or if the extensively tested and very lately released Vodafone Lollipop update is to blame.
From what I can find online, the water damage indicator paper on the back inside of the phone should be white or white with red crosses on it until water hits it - then it turns red. Inside my phone the paper looks white, but there is a strip on the top of the battery (next to the terminals) which is black. I'm not sure what the indicator colours should be for the battery when dry/wet and can not find any mention of a black coloured water indicator paper thing on a Note 4 battery anywhere.
Can anyone please tell me:
1. What colour the water indicator strip on a Note 4 battery looks like when dry/wet? What does black mean?
2. Has anyone else had issues with the Samsung EVO 128GB SD card in a Note 4?
3. Any other reasons why my phone might be randomly rebooting every hour or so (Lollipop?)?
Thanks very much in advance and, again, apologies if this post is misplaced.
I cant speak for the battery water indicator cause mine is white with red x.
The random rebooting i can help you with and let me tell you its not the sd card cause i have a sandisk 128gb and my phone was rebooting as well and sometimes would be stuck in a loop. The problem after i got a new phone from my carrier was the battery it self. Try getting a new battery this worked for me to stop the reboot.
Indicators will turn pink once wet some phones have more than one, for example iPhones have one in the ear phone jack and other inside the device Samsung typically have the one behind the battery and the one on the battery itself .
I am using a Samsung Evo 128gb I bought from Amazon and no reboots, even on latest update

Thank you both very much!
I can't see any red/pink anywhere on the phone or battery, but I can't see any white indicator on the battery either (only a black looking suspicious rectangular thing at the top next to the terminals).
I've attached a few pics showing both sides and top of my battery and the back inside of phone. Can anybody please tell me if these pics look normal or if the water damage indicator has been tripped? thanks

I have saw a few of these threads but none related to the tilt 2 on ATT. I need to make a warranty claim but my sticker is pink. its not completely red or anything and my phone is still mint, never been near water. I see on sprint the same sticker has crosshatches and wasnt sure if thats how mine was. i wanna say it was solid white, like the sticker by the battery. The only sticker with red crosshatchs on the att branded tp2 is on the battery itself. Can anyone confirm this for me?
My Tilt2 has no such sticker.
yes my battery also has the same sticker. its on the bottom where the connectors to the phone go.. but on the battery if that makes any sense
Hi,
My touch pro 2 has an indicator on the housing surrounding the battery (on the right side) and on the battery itself. A fresh indicator is one with the pink hashes or lines and a tripped or wet indicator is one that turns pink. these could be triggered by sweat, but they may be merciful regarding warranties when they see the internal indicator on the battery not triggered.
In Aus with telstra, generally you get a verbal warning and you sign to say that they can fix upto $150 of damage before they call you, IF the factory deem damage to be out of warranty (or liquid damage, which is generally out of warranty).
I have a HT touch pro 2 T7381 (Rhod110) Aus Telstra model.
Hope this helps
I've got a ATT Tilt 2 and the moisture sticker is on the opposite side of the SD card. I SWEAR my first two didn't have them there. This most recent one does. Ill give you one guess where my sweaty thumb goes when you pull the back cover off to reset the phone when it freezes all the damn time.

This is just really pissing me off. The speakers are starting to crackle...again. And im worried if they are going to get me a new one.
I take it back, I DO have those things on my Tilt 2. Didn't know what they were. Thought they were larger and more obvious.

Is your on the same spot as my pink one? like 2 inches below the freaking reset button?

Yeah, but none on the battery, just in the compartment.
Interesting, I have the indicator under the battery, and on the battery itself. But none below the reset button. There is a space for it, a small recessed square in the plastic, but no indicator sticker. Just bare plastic. Release version of the Tilt 2.
Yes very interesting, especially when i had show image above, i have mine on battery (the same place as image above), but the other one was near the microsd slot. The sticker was not white it's was like red crosshatchs on white background. Mine was Touch pro2 (model T7373), what's interesting? why it's not in the same place as other?
I believe the stickers are put on by the carrier, not the manufacturer. That might be why there's no uniformity as to their location and placement.

since yours does not have the sticker below the reset button like mine, about when did you get your phone. I had one that didn't have it, and in July had to have mine replaced, they mailed me this one. If i need to have it replaced soon ill just talk to one ATT store, then if there is a problem, yank the sticker and go to another. because either way they will want more money. bastards haha
I do have that one, just not the one on the battery. I got mine new in June from someone on Craig's List, not AT$T.
bleach makes the stickers white.
If you want to freak out your carrier though, use some hydrogen peroxide to make it as red as you can.
Hello, everyone!
Sometimes my Sprint Galaxy Nexus don`t work correct when cold weather outside (-1-(-2)* C). At that time I can`t unlock my gnex - screen does not turn on and I only see screen with black color on it. But during that phone seems works well (music play, gtalk get new messages).
Is this normal? Do you see such error on your gnex?
Thank you!

Nope, was in New york the other day and it was -4 or so...no problems at all. Granted, i didn't leave it out for too long and put it in my pocket, but it didn't have any of those issues.

Hm, thank you.
Maybe it is due to bugs in CM 10 Experimental...
generally the colder temperatures keep all the circuits cooler creating better performance
I have to disagree, I was pretty disappointed today.
I left the house with ~70% battery to play some ingress and maybe take a photosphere or two, panorama, just try it out when I'm outside and there's a bunch of snow.
I have it outside for maybe 10 minutes total (it's about -10C, so around 14F for you americans) and take photospheres and panoramas (only got 1 photosphere and not even 1 panorama..) when the phone just shuts off. Totally, it just cuts off. I assume it's some random reboot issue, so I boot it up again and when I get to the PIN screen it instantly gives me a toast saying "Powering Off.."
I'm thinking "What?! I couldn't possibly have drained my battery from ~70% to 0% in 10 minutes?"
I try to boot it again, same problem. This time I have time to see the battery indicator in the statusbar before it shuts off - it's got a red exclamation mark on it. I assume it's the battery drained out, but I still find it impossible. I go home to check on it, plug the charger in, boot up the phone and voila. I have about 50% battery left.
Here's a picture of my battery stats, you can clearly see where the battery cut out. It also seems like the radio cut out at the same time for some reason:

So apparently the battery/phone just can't handle sub-zero temperatures, which is a real bummer. I've got a case on it and it seriously couldn't have chilled to negative degrees in that short amount of time.. Im guessing the battery was somewhere in the low digits of the positive celcius scale, but definitely not below that.
Also, notice the BIG drop in battery percentage once I got it to boot again and report its percentage. In that short time I tried to boot it (just tried twice.. so about 30 seconds total) it dropped from 60% to 40%?!
The screen worked fine though, even through one of my thick gloves which dont allow for any capacitive activities at all.
Oh and I'm running 4.2.1 stock deodexed and rooted by bigxie on a GSM Galaxy Nexus in Sweden.
Lithium batteries don't work well in cold weather, you can google more on it.

I have the same problem.
I am wondering if someone here can help me.
I have an unrooted SGIII from Sprint and have had the phone since 2012.
In the last update, to kitkat at least I have noticed some serious battery drain...in particular when I take pictures, the pictures get very grainy and then boom, the phone shuts down. Not cool.
do i need a new battery? I have read all the information about saving battery infact I can hardly see my screen my brightness is so low.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Try a factory reset after backup what you want.
If that doesn't help, try Odining the stock ND8 tar from a PC, in the development (non-original) section.

I can't tell you that a new battery will fix your problems. But, I replaced my battery after 9 months of use and I was amazed at the difference. Try borrowing someone's battery and see if it makes a difference? If you buy a new battery and that doesn't solve the problem, you've ruled out the battery and now have 2 batteries to switch between

I have this exact same problem. Any time the battery is below 40-50%, the camera could cause the phone to shut down at any time. Really, anything will cause it to shut down, but it seems like the camera will do it every single time. The phone will not stay on after that point unless you plug it in for even 5 minutes, at which point it tells you your battery is 60-70%.
This is the reason I rooted and then flashed the Odin stock ND8 the other day (http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...rint-galaxy-s3-complete-boot-process-t2829181). I then flashed to Wicked X v7.3. It has only been two days, but the same symptoms persist. My wife has the same phone and experiences the same problems, which all started upon the update to 4.4.2.
If anybody has any ideas, I'm all ears.

Got the phone in December 2012, as did my wife. No hard falls that I can remember. Up until recently I had it in an Otter Box Commuter case. I took it out after I updated and started pulling the battery to try to get things to reset (never worked and like the smaller profile so I didn't put the case back on).
Tonight I installed the Xposed critical battery shutdown module and also Battery Calibration recommended in these posts http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2781926 and (can't find the thread recommending Battery Calibration by Nema, but whatever). After I installed the module (and I think activated it), I ran the battery down until the phone shut off. Will charge to 100% tonight and start calibration in the morning.
The module does not appear to be working,as the phone shut down at 28% with no prior warnings that it prevented shutdown. That's unfortunate. To activate the module, do I just click the check mark and reboot?
from what I've seen water damage and hard falls can have a heavy impact on the OS(not like crack screen or digitizer but just a hard fall and phone survives) well except on water proof/shock proof phones.....but for the most part if a factory reset/Odin/Heimdall/what ever method back to stock you use doesn't fix the problem its a hardware issue
All's better after new battery
I just wanted to post a followup to my issue. After the shutdown mod and battery calibration didn't help, I bought an Anker replacement battery from Amazon. Since my wife had the same problem, I bought a two pack for $28. I charged the battery overnight and then in the morning hit the battery calibration button.
I noticed a difference right away - I was only down 7% after a few hours at work. My goal was to let the battery run down until the phone shut off, which happened at about the 30 hour mark with my playing HD youtube videos for the last hour so it would die. The battery life indicator actually counted all the way down to 1% before shutting off, which is a stark contrast to the 30% that had been occurring with the old battery.
With the new battery, I've also used the camera when it was under 30% with no problems.
My recommendation for anyone that has similar problems is to get a new battery. They are a hell of a lot cheaper than a new phone, so it's worth a shot.
I recently left my Moto 360 in my bathroom while a took a hot shower which produced a good amount of steam. When I went to retrieve my watch after my shower, I noticed that the screen would not wake when I used the lock button, or when I tapped the screen. After further investigation, I discovered that the screen still worked, but only under certain conditions. By pressing on the back of the watch, behind the graphics driver (or another "sweet spot") at the bottom of the watch where the band attaches, I am able to restore the screen to display my watch face. If I press slightly off of the graphics driver, the face will begin to glitch and produce something like the image below. Without pressing the back of the watch, the screen will not display anything. I reset my watch, which did not fix the problem. Any ideas beyond sending the watch in on warranty repair?

if ur really concerned with moisture put it in a plastic container with some rice.
let it sit there for a day to suck all the moisture out
once out, before you even mess with it, place on charger for a few hrs to ensure it has juice
if it still doesnt work after that, then RMA it
(this may not do much since its IP67 and any moisture may be inside sealed anyways, but worth a shot)

I correct this statement and say that it worked for a little while... I will be sending my watch in to the shop for fixing.
You shouldn't use rice. The grains of rice produce a fine dust that actually makes a paste when they encounter moisture. That paste can foul up the internals of a device sometimes.
You should use something like damprid or silica gel sold at either a local gun shop or online. Place the device in a sock or cloth bag and bury it in the drying compound.
Chemical driers are far more effective and cause fewer problems
You should keep a bucket around for emergency use for your devices.
Yeah I was going to say submerge it in a cup of rice
Hey guys. I bought my Z5P on dec 23. It had a broken screen, i replaced the screen early in January and everything was great.
Then in early February the screen would get vertical lines at times, suddenly appearing then randomly disappear after 10 seconds all the way up to 8 hours later. The screen would randomly become quite warm/hot a couple of millimeters above the on screen buttons, aswell as heat up the entire phone randomly while in standby for some reason.
On Feb. 10 the lines came to stay, they are now constantly there in darker images as well as constantly sometimes in all scenarios. The 3.5mm port is also buggy and don't work if i move (I know about the software issue, this is hardware related).
So, i'm faced with exchanging the screen again for 60-70$ or change screen and frame in one for 90$ as well as the 3.5mm. Should i just throw in a new screen or will the problems likely reappear?
I did the previous swap myself, and cant find anything wrong with the install. The screen may sit a tad bit deeper in the frame now, the plastic edges rise above the screen on both sides. Screen appears to be OEM, same quality as original in all aspects until it failed. The phone has obviously been tampered with before i bought it, its missing 1 plastic cover over the charging port so i propped that up with a plastic piece as well.
Anyone with any experience with these kinds of problems on this or other Sony phones would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
For some reason i clicked the wrong button on log in and posted with my google user.
Here is a image showing my problem on a different phone.

since you bought it with broken screen, the scientific question for you to be asked back then was
1. how did it got broken? dropped from height ? heavy object dropped on it.... in either case....
2. what else may have had got damaged inside?
My sister had SAMSUNG s4 and she dropped it , it hit on the floor and lines/bar started appearing after a while! later the screen went blank... we replaced the screen and it worked only few hours and went blank again! ,,, finally the technician told us that processor or graphic chip may also got damaged or affected so replacing chip is not possible unless you change the mother board! (which will cost $400 with labour charges )
long story short! we gave up on that phone! when the market is saturated with variety of good hardware on competitive prices...
