Hello, everyone!
Sometimes my Sprint Galaxy Nexus don`t work correct when cold weather outside (-1-(-2)* C). At that time I can`t unlock my gnex - screen does not turn on and I only see screen with black color on it. But during that phone seems works well (music play, gtalk get new messages).
Is this normal? Do you see such error on your gnex?
Thank you!

Nope, was in New york the other day and it was -4 or so...no problems at all. Granted, i didn't leave it out for too long and put it in my pocket, but it didn't have any of those issues.

Hm, thank you.
Maybe it is due to bugs in CM 10 Experimental...
generally the colder temperatures keep all the circuits cooler creating better performance
I have to disagree, I was pretty disappointed today.
I left the house with ~70% battery to play some ingress and maybe take a photosphere or two, panorama, just try it out when I'm outside and there's a bunch of snow.
I have it outside for maybe 10 minutes total (it's about -10C, so around 14F for you americans) and take photospheres and panoramas (only got 1 photosphere and not even 1 panorama..) when the phone just shuts off. Totally, it just cuts off. I assume it's some random reboot issue, so I boot it up again and when I get to the PIN screen it instantly gives me a toast saying "Powering Off.."
I'm thinking "What?! I couldn't possibly have drained my battery from ~70% to 0% in 10 minutes?"
I try to boot it again, same problem. This time I have time to see the battery indicator in the statusbar before it shuts off - it's got a red exclamation mark on it. I assume it's the battery drained out, but I still find it impossible. I go home to check on it, plug the charger in, boot up the phone and voila. I have about 50% battery left.
Here's a picture of my battery stats, you can clearly see where the battery cut out. It also seems like the radio cut out at the same time for some reason:

So apparently the battery/phone just can't handle sub-zero temperatures, which is a real bummer. I've got a case on it and it seriously couldn't have chilled to negative degrees in that short amount of time.. Im guessing the battery was somewhere in the low digits of the positive celcius scale, but definitely not below that.
Also, notice the BIG drop in battery percentage once I got it to boot again and report its percentage. In that short time I tried to boot it (just tried twice.. so about 30 seconds total) it dropped from 60% to 40%?!
The screen worked fine though, even through one of my thick gloves which dont allow for any capacitive activities at all.
Oh and I'm running 4.2.1 stock deodexed and rooted by bigxie on a GSM Galaxy Nexus in Sweden.
Lithium batteries don't work well in cold weather, you can google more on it.

I'M using Oxygen 0.2.2 Beta Rom. Yesterday I recalibrate my battery, closed unnecessary programs, turn off wifi, 3g, gps and bluetooth. Morning I checked battery level and shocked battery leves was about %75. I checked if there any memory leaked program but I couldn't find something like that.
Display used battery percantage dramatically high?
What is the problem? Screen was turned off naturally.
'My Battery Kills Me' - sounds like the title of a cheap horror film - LOL
How long is 'overnight'? 8, 10 hours?
25% in that time sounds quite reasonable to me.
@cr1960 25% over 8 hr with wifi and 3g off is not normal and if you experience this i would check what is causing your drain.
@yapay Install current widget, place it on one of the home screens and set it up to wright to the log every 5 min. Then turn your phone in to flight mode overnight and the next day check the log, if you have more than 1 mA usage regularly during the night there is something using to much power. Install a monitoring app from the market and let it run during the night to find out what.
If it's mostly around 1 mA than your problem probably is gone after another charge.
Screen is very high for only 1.5h ish. Looks looks like you have high brightness settings and a lot of white/blue images being displayed.

There is a misunderstood. I checked battery status after woke up and that was 60% display usage. After that I used phone during breakfast and later my battery was 18%.
Something is wrong...
Sure sure it's with light use, but just the fact that it can hit 6+ hours screen time after more than a day and a half... sits pretty well with me.
No games, 30% screen brightness, 74 mins of calls, quite a bit of texting & whatsapp, 30 odd mins browsing, wifi 100%, sync on, only 1 widget.
aokp, lean kernel, undervolted, K6, extended battery.
Loving this phone!!!

Not bad at all! Especially considering 74min of phone calls.
NICE!!! Can't wait till my extended battery comes in.
Nice. I've had my extended battery for 2 days now and I am seriously impresses ed with it. It on my drive home I'm at 65% instead of 30%. I really think the extended battery should of come stock.
I got a similar 6 hour in airplane mode. I was watching a movie while roaming on vacation.
Verizon stock rom. stock battery.
Even stock SGN makes wonders with battery on Wi-Fi But still your stats are truly amazing
OP did charge the phone for a bit....like 3 times don't know for how long....but nonetheless amazing stats...

No, he didn't? Look closer on first screenshot. There is no sign of charging on those lines below the graph. Those places where graph line goes up are pretty normal and that doesn't mean device war charging.

Nah I didn't charge it at all, as the other guys pointed out. I remember my battery dropping to 4%, I then put down my phone and when I came back later on, it was reading 5%. I thought I was going crazy, but looking at the graph now I see it really did happen. It raised from 4% to 5% and stayed there for a bit before dropping to 4% again.
Anyway, I hope this wasn't a one off... it's not doing as well today with the same usage. We'll see...

Actually, the phone calls don't do much damage... You should be able to talk 11hours on this phone apparently...
I am very jealous. I am lucky to get 3-3.5 of web surfing.
With standard battery, you can get almost 11 hours screen on time (by doing nothing):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1366878&highlight=max+battery
So, that's the limit
My experience with extended battery, 2000 mAH, GSM, I could get 4 and a half screen on time with 61 hours stand by time. For sure, it can go down to 6 hours or more screen on time if I down the standby time. All with stock ROM, stok kernel, un-locked
It is not difficult to achieve that knowing the limit, all depends on how you set it up and how do you use your phone.
Is this good battery life? Just updated to 4.04 GSM galaxy from Google play

A single screen shot shows us absolutely NOTHING about battery life.
Your battery is also almost full...
Use the phone a full day 100% to 5%, then screenshot your overview, graph, screen on, awake, and signal times. THEN we'll be able to tell.

battery life is definitely improved on 4.0.4 , i'm getting between 45min-1hr more screen ON time (mostly surfing and reading xda) than on 4.0.2
i use live wallpaper and autobrightness, wifi always ON, everything stock with no tweaks, stock 1750mAh battery
Can you also post the battery voltage when you almost depleted your battery?
It can let us to see if the battery is correctly calibrated to show the proper percentage value. I encountered up to 1 hour different in screen on time with a non calibrated GN.
To know your voltage, dial *#*#4636#*#* (*#*#info#*#*) (no need press call).
Go to battery info and see the battery voltage value.
The galaxy nexus will always get awful battery. I have never gotten over 2.5h screen time and.I have tried every rom, literally. I can't really get over 14h stanbdy either.
I can verify I seem to have better battery life after the 4.04 update.
Hi all, I posted in the battery life thread but didn't get any bites, so I thought I'd go up a level.
I have had two warranty replacement M8s which behave similarly. Both will occasionally not unlock with the power button, though the phone will still take a screenshot of the "unlit" screen by way of the Pwr/Vol- combination. Leaving it for a number of minutes will usually see it unlock normally. Is it conceivable that in-app misbehaviour could cause this? I would have thought that unlocking the screen is a higher priority event than a screenshot...
The second problem is that the phone shuts down at around 15% battery remaining (according to the display), but when plugged in to the genuine charger it is 0%. Oddly, whilst the phone is powered off between going flat and being put on charge then restarted, the battery manager reports that WiFi remained active. Furthermore, the phone continues to display "XX Hours on Battery" from the previous power cycle.
Screenshots should help:

I have apparently expired the number of express turnaround replacement handsets and am being told that I must return the handset for analysis. I'm pretty annoyed as I've already been inconvenienced, and am interested in getting an insight from members as to where they think the problem might lie.
I have recalibrated the battery a number of times, the battery test function finished at 90% and I only use the supplied charger.
Many thanks,
Steve

The phone shutting down at 15% doesn't seem that unusual. The % reported by OS is not a precise number. Its simply an estimate of battery remaining based on current voltage versus how you use your phone (or at least, how the phone thinks you will use it). Its an abstract number, and just what the manufacturers have come up with; since they probably decided that most folks aren't smart enough to understand battery voltage.
You shouldn't be running your battery down that low on a regular bases, anyway. Short, frequent charging is best for long-term battery life with Li ion batteries.
My phone shutoff at around 11% the other day (didn't realize my kid ran the battery down that low watching videos), and it really didn't strike me as that unusual.
The screen not turning on, on the other hand, is a more unusual. Possibly try RUU, if your version has one available.
Interesting... thanks for that Redpoint. I appreciate that running lithium ion batteries to dead flat isn't ideal for longevity, but my last two HTCs would happily go into single digit percentages. For example, my original M8 on Android 5 would go through displaying the red battery symbol, the hollow one and I think another one after that at 1% if I pushed it to. I also didn't elaborate, but actually using the current phone at around 20% battery will result in it clock down maybe 4% every subsequent 15 to 30 seconds. That's an excessively fast taper-off.
I'll look up what RUU means ?... I am a noob.
Cheers,
Steve
Just wanted to say that those three characters "RUU" helped a lot. I now have an option other than sending it back.
Much appreciated mate. ?
Hi friends, i've tried this mod on my Galaxy Tab S3 LTE (SM-T825Y) and worked great but screen layout (when on Always On Display) seems to be set the dpi to phone config... if someone can help with a fix for that would be gorgeous to have a full screen Always On Display

Battery drain extortionately high on my Tab S3 charged it to 100% left always on display on whilst I slept for 7 hours approximately and lost 50% of my charge in the process it has a 6000 mAh battery !

But that is 7 percent per hour on the s7 which is where the act was originally ported from it drains about 7 percent in a night only the white pixels are meant to be activated as it is an amoled display. The Tab S3 has a bigger screen yes so more pixels will be activated to upscale the image but it's also has a bigger battery by miles
Is it safe for the display of the tab S3 ??
Can nothing burn in there isn Display ??
doesn't work anymore. Just shows the lockscreen now
Always on Display
You can get the screen on result without rooting or downloading any app. All you need to do is unlock developer options, tap on model number 7 times. Once unlocked, there will be a setting for it, Stay Awake, under Developer options. Only works while charging, though to prevent rapid battery drainage.
I only use while working to prevent tab from going to sleep. I turn screen off plus close cover of auto wake folio when not in use to prevent screen burn.
