When launching google now, yesterday I could either type in the search, or click on the mic and start talking OR saying "Google" and the phone will automatically start hearing my search inquiry.
Today, it seems that "Say Google" is completely removed? I haven't done any updates, what's going on?
Anyone facing this problem or know how might I get the "say Google" back?
As far as I know, it only works if Google Now is open...
it doesn't work from the home screen or other places.
I know that it only works for US English. Ensure that you are in fact on US English for your language.
I understand that, the problem is, it's even removed from there! The settings is also removed !
Please guys check your phones to confirm.
PS: The language is English(US), check 2nd picture

A lot of people reported many problems with Google Now being fixed once you download the offline engine. You try that?
mine are also gone. i never tried pressing the voice button when starting google now but this time there is not even an option that instruct us to say google now anymore. on 4.1 it was there. 4.1.1 has none.
I still have the option to say "Google" and it works just fine.
Yep, me too. Still able to say Google on US English that is (it sucks how UK English lacks features).
Did you perhaps turn it off?? It's under settings in Google now.

I have the same issue as OP.
I'm running Android Revolution HD 5.0.1, but the same thing happened with AOSP JB. When I flashed it I could say 'Google' in Google Now but some time after getting the phone set up I lost that ability. I've also lost the 'Hot word' menu option in the Google Now->Voice settings.Everything is Default US English. And I have the offline engine downloaded and I can still tap the microphone icon to voice search.
Weird thing is: I was showing it off to a few friends in a restaurant last night and it was working again. Now this morning, it's gone again.

Not sure why... what region are you in??
I also read somewhere on here someone lost google now voice but it was because they changed a setting in accessibility... did you by chance??

It worked once for me.
I backed out, went to try again and it didn't work.

hi guys, im the OP. just want to say, the problem is solved.
I simply rebooted the phone and it magically reappeared. I didn't touch anything. This is very weird.
I think it has to do with the language selection right inside Google Now's settings under Voice.
If you tap on English it gives you the various types of English to choose from.
When I select "English Canada" the ability to say "Google" is missing.
However if I specifically select "English US" it reappears instantly.

I tried all English version available. No luck. Well of course, as a heavy flashers, I rebooted many times.

I just want to say that it's randomly getting removed after a while and I hard reboot will sometime bring it back. I have no reason why this is happening, if anyone has a clue, please share.
hey guys I just found out, after I reboot everything works fine, the "say google" is there, but lightflow doesn't work. However, after I went into accessibility and turn light flow off and on again (it was on) lightflow works again, but the "say google" disappears.
yea, check http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1778659
Light Flow is probably causing the problem
Is there a way to disabled this notification? When I'm at work I don't have good signal and this always shows up.

Try this:
Check your roaming settings-
Mode: set to auto
Settings: all should be checked
Guard: NO checks.

Just tried this and still have the notification...
I have anycut and I am rooted if anyone can think of a way to stop this from popping up
Yeah I disabled the guard also and I still get the notification also. It's a minor annoyance for me. If it can be removed, good. If not, I'll live.

Ok so I have tried every possible combination of checking and unchecking the roaming settings to no avail, yeah I'll live, just frustrating that I am not able to stop it from popping up. Googling for an answer seems everyone that goes in and out of roaming has the issue. One forum called it a known bug in the software, if so maybe fixed in the next update
It's especially aggravating because I pay for unlimited nationwide roaming which apparently I'm not getting. Guess I'll call sprint tomorrow and see what's up. Gotta ask them about my airave anyway. Doesn't seem to play well with the s3.
interestingly enough, I haven't seen this notification in a while. Did it go away with LG8? I didn't change any settings here.
Yes its annoying. Have it too.
Yeah it's definitely not a check/uncheck thing... prolly a smali edit somewhere in framework... and yes it's still present in LG8

I can probably remove it, however, I don't roam enough to test that it is working. Someone will have to verify.

I don't mind.
What is the exact message it gives?
Here's a screen shot of the message. The exclamation point in the notification bar is due to the message. Thanks for your hard work.

Yes please and thank you.
this phone has a lot of annoying notifications. samsung needs to start putting a setting to disable some notifications.. low battery, lost connection, found wifi network, no signal, my dog took a poop, etc.. im constantly dismissing popups throughout the day.
I have solved this issue.
Will be posting a how to and flashable zip in the development forum.
Awesome thanks

Took me quite some time to figure this one out, thought I should post it here in case anyone else has a similar problem.
When I updated to Android 4.1.2, I noticed that my Google Navigation stopped working. It would simply sit there endlessly "Waiting for location..." Fortunately, there's a simple fix:
1. Go to "Settings > Accounts > Google > Location Settings".
2. Flip the switch to "On" (I found this was off in my case).
3. Try Google Navigation again, it should work fine.
I'm not sure why Google decided to break up the location settings into two different places like this, but it's a bit silly IMO as it's definitely going to catch some people out.
You probably cleared the Google Services Framework at some point. When you do that, it disables location services.
Makes sense. It's still a good thing to let people know about it.
It's good to know that I wasn't the only one with this issue factory reset did the thing for me.
I have a different issue
hi
My issue is different.
After the update I am not able to download updates from Google play.
It tells me that the connection to the server has been timed out.
|I cleared the Cache of Google play, but did not helped.
Any ideas?
The issue with GPS was present on update from ics to jb as well and also on 4.0 to 4.0.x and fix was the same as you described it switch on and off location service

In my case it was actually that the location service for Google apps was switched off by default after the update. I didn't need to cycle it or anything, just simply switch it on.

Not sure how to fix that. Are you sure you have an internet connection on your phone? You might need to use the "Clear Data" option, rather than just "Clear Cache".
Hey, man, thanks a lot, I've been banging my head for 6 hours until I found your post. I was minutes away from resetting my phone to factory defaults. You saved me a lot of trouble. Kudos to you!
Thanks for the heads up on this!
Thanks
I too had emptied the google apps framework for the update to 4.2.1 on the galaxy nexus, this helped me out. Thanks!
Awesome
It worked for me in a Galaxy S3 i9300. Thank you so much!
Google search is no longer speaking results back to me! It was fine yesterday?
I did have 'speak to it assistant' installed. But i uninstalled it... yesterday.
I have re-installed 'assistant', but still get no voice from google search.. i do get voice from 'assistant'
I've looked in settings & it says 'speech output - always speak'
Anyone had a similar problem before
Do you have selected a voice in settings - text-to-speach?

Google now giving me silent treatment.!
Hello,
perhaps it'll be some similar problem like that, I've posted here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2096446
My workaround to install two voices of different developers solved my problem with my dumb OneX.
Now it speaks to me fortunately.
Good luck

Thanks for the info :good:
I'll try that.. at some point, see if it fixes the problem for me.
Although i've also just noticed (yesterday evening) that the little mic icon has disappeared from my keyboard!
Apparently they both need an internet connection to work.. although i DO have a good connection (wi-fi & 3G)
The mic icon DID re-appear this morning as i began to type out an email, but disappeared as i was typing?!?
It's normally over the fullstop..
*edit*
Ha Ha! typical..
Just tried google search, and it's working again.. she just told me that tomorrow morning will be cold
Also the mic icon is back on the keyboard :victory: .. for how long i don't know though
It was a google problem

Sometimes silence is golden. My wife stopped speaking to me yesterday and I'm at peace.
he probably got angry...
I can't seem to enable "OK Google" as a hotword to activate Google Now. I've searched and tried going into Google Now settings and downloading the new US language pack but it never enables. Enable Hotword is checked but I get nothing when I try say OK Google.
What am I doing wrong?

Yes, I'm talking specifically about when I'm in Google search... I even tried installing the new GEL launcher which should have enabled "always on" like the Moto X. It worked on my Galaxy Nexus but not my GN3. Now the hotword won't work even on Google search.

There was a fix a while back that said you needed to change language to english (UK) , perform a search, then Change it back to English (us). Hot word should then work. Try it out. It may or may not work, but worth it anyways .

I just reset my phone as nothing else I tried would work. Working fine now.

I'm having the same problem. Hotword activation won't work at all on my T-Mobile GN3. Using GEL it wont work at all. Tried the US to UK then back to US but no luck. G Now worked flawlessly on my S4. Anyone have any solution???

I've noticed that something toggles it on and off, but I haven't figured out what. After I performed a reset it worked fine, then all of a sudden the hot word wouldn't work anymore. I messed around with the settings and it enabled again. Right now however, I checked after reading your post and it's not working. I think it's connected to some setting, I'm trying to figure it out.
edit: I just figured something out. I use a smart watch, and when I enable the Sync in Settings-Device-Accessibility the hotword disables. When I disable the sync in Accessibility, the hotword enables again... Not sure why this happens but I've just tested it and it works for me.

i don't use any smart watches yet & i also don't see a Sync option in Accessibility. Went thru the entire Accessibility menu to see if there was anything in there that could possibly be disabling it but i haven't found a thing.
Figured out the fix. I just needed to update the offline language (English-US). After that all worked fine.
