Last night I installed geefree on my phone from the app store and used it to install TWRP. I downloaded a nightly CM11 and an appropriate gapps. Using geefree I rebooted to recovery (never figured out the button combination to boot to recovery "naturally") and installed both of the zips. This could be where I made my mistake, I installed both at the same time.
Now my phone loops, displaying the LG logo for a few seconds, then shutting off and rebooting before repeating the process. I can't seem to get it to go into download mode or the recovery menu. I've tried power+up, power+down, down+up and each of those while plugging the device in, etc. I can get the device to a hardware key control mode, though it doesn't seem too useful.
How can I save my phone? This forum has been a great resource in the past and I'm very grateful for the many tutorials I've followed rooting other devices. Hopefully you guys can save the day once again!
Volume up plus power is how to access recovery on sprint.
What stock sw version were you on before you flashed cm?
Did you wipe data before flashing?
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda app-developers app
I was using stock 4.2.2, I believe. I didn't wipe the data (shame on me), a bad habit that I picked up from my first rooted device, the Samsung Moment. It didn't ever matter on that one, afaik. Thanks for the reply!
Edit: Volume up and power whether plugged in or not takes me to the hardware key control mode screen.
Second Edit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476&page=35 I also found this thread where someone seems to be experiencing similar issues and they fix it with "LG Utility." Is that a PC application? It's a little vague to google, but I've been trying!
I have a bootloop issue every time i flash a rom i have to wipe all but sd flash roms and gapps the i do a restore from twrp and oly restore my boot image only and they boot no prob
I'm kind of starting to suspect my power button doesn't work at all for whatever reason. I have a lot of difficulty getting the phone to shut down, then it doesn't seem to easily power up. It's a strange collection of problems. Would a Sprint repair place be able to fix this?
If they have parts on hand if not either a swap out or a sendoff
Same problem here - bootloop and no download mode - CWM works! - urgently need help
I guess I have the same problem as InlineFourPower (apart from that my power-button has no problem).
I am stuck in bootloop since I tried to upgrade to Kitkat a few days ago. Now I can´t get into download mode any more, nor into fastboot or anything else. Only CWM works.
From within CWM I can successfully flash ROMs but that doesn´t help, since afterwards I am still stuck in bootloop. It is possible, however, to push files via adb-commands while I am in CWM.
Does anybody have an idea how to go from here or how to get download-mode back?
Device is recognized but can´t be mounted - bricked forever?

I tried a few things on Linux.
After terminal-command "ls /dev/sd*" when the device is unplugged from the computer I get "/dev/sda".
When the device is connected via USB, I get: "/dev/sda /dev/sdb"
So sdb is my LG G2.
So I went on to the next command: "gdisk -l /dev/sdb"
As a result I get: "Problem opening /dev/sdb for reading! Error is 123."
Does it mean that the phone isn´t mounted or what? Now I´ve connected my phone to another Linux machine with the same result. It is recognised (p.e. as sdd), but there is no sdd1. Seems as if it is recognized, but can´t be mounted. Does that mean my device is bricked for good? That´s it?
to get the phone into download mode you have to plug the usb cord in and hold VOL+, so to get this right as I have a case on mine, plug the usb into the phone first then hold VOL+ and plug into usb port on the computer.
it does take a loooong time to power down the phone with the button when stuck in a boot loop, just keep holding it until it shuts off, it will shut off eventually!!
plug the phone in while in download mode to install drivers and set com ports, then unplug before you begin your flash with LGFlashTool, hope this helps you out.

Thanks Cronic2009 for your advice.
There are, however, szenarios where download-mode is not accessible any more. Neither by using the hardware-keys, nor by using the adb-command.
After four days of resarch and a lot of trial and error, I finally unbricked my F320L using the two adb-commands outlined at the beginning of that thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2451696
Worked like a charm.
Thanks everyone for your advice.
no problem buddy, glad you got it figured out, good luck to you from here on out!
FYI, that link doesn't work
I just wanted to ask anyone who might know, since the bootloader of the LS980 is locked, we cannot "break" this correct, so no matter what commands we decide to run through root, we cant touch the true bootloader there for LS980 fail safe? (Besides Acts of God, EMP, ect)

Thanks for letting me know. I corrected the link in my previous post.
Be sure if you use a aosp based rom to flash the ZV8 modem. Your can use dr87 or furnance kernals after you flash the zva modem althought i have encountered soft brick due to this.
so i'm having this exact issue and i don't know how to get out of it. i just need to transfer the radio to my phone somehow but nothing shows up under adb devices. i'm trying to the lg mobile support tool now. its downloading the software. but if it doesn't work does any one have any fixes?

After using tot and flash tool to get back to stock, did you try going into stock recovery and do a factory data reset? I know it sounds stupid especially after a tot but try it. Couldn't hurt

Borderline noob here, so please bear with me...
I have been using TWRP 2.7.0.0 to do all my work, and I was able to get the Lego ROM installed with ZVA. I got into too big of a hurry and forgot to make a backup of stock. I've also been unsuccessful in trying to install ZVC modem and firmware. Thankfully ZVA works as does the LEGO ROM, but I'd like to have stock there to access as well. The stockZVC that's on the Android Development page has been getting stuck (bootloop?) on the Sprint Spark logo. I've done TWRP's factory reset with no success. Any help would be great.
Thanks in advance!
Yes sir I've tried that and more to no avail is there anything I can do through adb I'm on stock recovery phone doesn't stay on long enough to install anything

Hey fellow LG Owner(s) I am writing this asking for some help. I know that majority of LG Phones use the same software and flashing tools regarding taking your phone back to stock. I currently own an LG G Flex (LS995 Sprint Variant) and I managed to soft brick my phone. I have posted this same message over at the LG G Flex Threads but so far I have gotten no one to provide me some sort of solution on how to un-brick or factory reset my phone.
The status of my phone before it got bricked was it had Root (IOROOT method), Busy-Box (by Jrummy), Build.Prop was edited to display as a Nexus 5, and boot-loader locked along with no custom recovery. If you’re wondering why my boot-loader was locked and why there wasn’t any type of custom recovery was due to the sad fact that Developers are having a hard time on cracking it.
Now to explain on how I soft bricked my phone. I was changing my font style by using a tool called ROM Toolbox (by Jrummy). I managed to change my font once and I attempted to change it a second time, since I was looking for something that displayed it wider and bolder. So as I applied install on the new font I got an automatic reboot.
The reboot consisted of the normal LG Logo display, followed by a black screen and staying as a black screen. On the upper left of my phone the notification indicator was flashing multiple colors (red, white, blue etc). This is the current state of my phone, black screen with a multicolor notification.
My attempts to fix:
- Simple reboot of the phone ((fail))
- Let the phones battery drain out then charge for a few minutes and restart ((fail))
- Managed to get into STOCK recovery and perform clean partition ((fail)
- Managed to get into STOCK recovery and apply factory reset ((fail))
- I got into some weird mode which also gave me the option to apply factory reset ((fail))
- I followed this tutorial (LG Flash Tool) on how to revert back to stock (by hyelton) ((fail))
Link to tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2644083
The tutorial by hyelton was almost successful to reverting back to stock firmware until I got to the last step (Number 6). The error that occurred by using the LG Flash Tool was when the tool attempted to flash the stock firmware it gave me a Download FAIL!! “Device Model is different“ notification (Images below). I did this tutorial at least seven times and I got no luck. Every single time that I attempted to do this I kept getting the same notification. I have now ran out if ideas on what to do.
My theory, I believe that by changing my build prop to display as a nexus 5 is the reason why I keep getting this fail notification. On the phone it-self when I put it into download mode it even displays as a Nexus 5 (Images below).
I was wondering since it’s possible to get into STOCK RECOVERY, I saw that it had an option for “ADB SIDELOAD” is it possible to push something thru ADB??? Any type of help is greatly appreciated and thanked. Please do not get upset that you see this in multiple LG threads, I am just trying to find a solution to UNBRICK this very expensive phone that I bought and I cannot afford to just use it as a paper weight. THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS

Alright yall, I am almost official screwed. I purchased this phone about a month ago from Best Buy and they stated that I am out of there 15 day window so I cannot exchange or replace for the same phone. I then went to Sprint on whom I have phone insurance for and they stated that they cannot do anything and that I have to go to one of their Sprint repair stores. I went to one of the repair stores and the gentlemen that assisted me plugged my phone to his computer and immediately knew that my phone was rooted. So from there I played the dumb blonde card acting like I don’t know what he’s talking about and from there he directed me to call LG and see what they can do. So now the current status is I filed a repair request and now I am awaiting a reply from LG. Does anyone have any suggestion???

i would try following this guide, make sure you use the g flex .tot and .dll though. copied from the lg g2 back to stock guide from hyelton

RETURN TO STOCK TOT Method! AT&T & Sprint Verzion & The Few International TOTs I have available
Download
1. LGFlashTools v1.8 - Download
2. Drivers - Download
3. Download Both Stock Image File and DLL (Both Files) - Download
Credit to @madmack for making most of this Guide for the G Pro Which also works on our G2
3.1 - FOR SPRINT FIRMWARE - Click Here
3.2 FOR International KITKAT TOT`s Click Here
Install
1. Install the LG drivers downloaded above.
2. Install LGFlashTools v1.6 (but don't run it)
3. Extract the TOT file from the ZIP
Drivers initialization
1. Put the phone into download mode. (Turn off device PRESS VOL UP while plugging in the micro usb cable. If this doesn't work, try holding both volume keys instead)
2. Let the phone initialize and install the drivers. Once done, in Device manager, you should see the LG phone listed under COM ports (something along these lines).
3. Find that LG entry in Device Manager, click on Properties, Advanced and then change the COM port to COM41 and close/save.
4. Unplug your phone! Important step.
LGFlashTools
To get this tool to work, you'll need to do a few tricks.
1. Set the computer's date to some time in July 2012 or before.
2. Disconnect the internet
3. Find a serial number or register key from somewhere on the web (a google search for lgflashtools serial will yield some results). Can't help you here and please don't share any keys in this thread or get us in trouble.
4. Execute the LGFlashTools. It should ask you for a key, put it in. Now you should see a dialog where you can load the DLL file and the TOT files that you extracted earlier. Put them both in here. Click ok
Flashing
5. There is a yellow arrow on the top left. Click on it to initialize the process. Once done, it should say "ready/finished" or whatever.
6. Put the phone in download mode again, and plug it into the USB port. LG FLash Tools should start flashing it automatically. When it's done, it'll automatically reboot into your stock AT&T rom and all of your data and internal sdcard files are gone.

adb sideload comes up as an option on stock recovery. can you please show me the command to push that. also do i have to pull the old build prop and then push the original one???
just a quick thought here, I had kind of the same problem on my G2 LS980 ( it thought it was a model 801) and to get around the error I used the correct .dll for my model phone but renamed it to the reported models .dll name, this should get the LG Tool past that check .dll error,
so for your case, you will need to find the Nexus .dll to get the name of it, then you will make a copy of your LG Flex .dll and rename that copy to the name of the nexus .dll, then when you manually load the .dll into LG Flash Tool use the renamed .dll, hope this helps you out, best of luck!

Help lg flash tool not working
Sent from my R1 HD using Tapatalk
I have spent the last 3 days searching XDA & trying every possible fix, no luck!
Here's my dilemma.....
I have custom recovery, TWRP 2.6.3.3, don't know what I did after trying to flash something........ I wiped everything except SDcard by accident. Like a darn fool, forgot after backing up everything via computer, to put a spares on my SDcard. Sooooo, I tried restoring by using LG FlashTool..... Here's where my problems began:
1. I can't load into download mode, it sticks at the logo to enter download mode but doesn't connect.
2. I tried ADB Sideload, sticks at "STARTING ADB SIDELOAD FEATURE.........."
3. No matter what mode (including Fastboot) I try, just won't connect to my computer the way I need it to. (*ALL DRIVERS HAVE BEEN REINSTALLED NUMEROUS TIMES, STILL NO LUCK.*) When I look in DEVICE MANAGER, it shows in "OTHER DEVICES" as "LG-LS980" (*Which is a good thing right? *)
At this point i'm at my wits end...... I tried to HARD FACTORY RESET, but didn't go thru. I'm afraid that if I tried it again, I could cause even more damage.
I've been without my phone for days & I'm about to go crazy if I have to pay LG or Sprint again for another phone!!!! I'd rather use my $600 on something else.
PLEASE TELL ME SOMEONE HAS FOUND A WAY TO GET AROUND THIS!
I've searched just about every forum & tried different methods.
Forgot to add that every time I power off from recovery, I get a the message about my device not being rooted, would I like to install..... When I swipe to install, nothing happens. Just powers off.

So try this...
Push the power button to turn the device on. Let it sit.
After you know that the g2 is on and trying to do its think, Press and hold power buttton, do not let go. It will force turn off the phone, but it will start to turn back on, if you keep holding the power button till it shuts off for the second time, you'll be set and the device will be fully off.
Have Lg Flash Tool open, make sure you have manual mode on and you point to the right dll and right tot file, could be zv7 zv8 or zva.
Click the arrow to have the flash tool biin check the files. when that is ready, do this next part fast. Plug in your phone, and immeditaly press and hold Volume up and Power. Download mode should appear.
and you should be good from there! If you try to enter download mode by using volume and up without the cable plug in, you'll hit the factory reset menu which is tied to the recovery, it'll do nothing, only take you to recovery. I hope this is of some help!
Edit:try new boot loader or system flasher via twrp
proplem i faced is one button which used to enter recovery is damged
Flash stock Ignoring the unmonted ianot able to be mounted then change system partitions u will be able to mount
Enjoy

Have Lg Flash Tool open, make sure you have manual mode on and you point to the right dll and right tot file, could be zv7 zv8 or zva.
Click the arrow to have the flash tool biin check the files. when that is ready, do this next part fast. Plug in your phone, and immeditaly press and hold Volume up and Power. Download mode should appear.
and you should be good from there! If you try to enter download mode by using volume and up without the cable plug in, you'll hit the factory reset menu which is tied to the recovery, it'll do nothing, only take you to recovery. I hope this is of some help!

I'm now completely lost.....
Ok... So i made a little progress....
I am now able to boot into fastboot mode.... No recovery now tho. If someone can help me with manually pushing everything I need to restore my phone, it would make my day!
I'm having withdrawal symptoms now. LOL! I MISS MY PHONE!
Problem solved!
Flashed all the partitions 1by1 via fastboot, was able to then reboot into download mode. Now using LG FlashTool to return to stock! I am now a very happy camper after a week w/o my phone!

Glad to see you've fixed your problem! I myself haven't been around, had some down time to. My sim reader magically stopped working and then randomly started working days later. Anyway, congrats!!!

Glad you figured it out. I was about to basically explain the steps to do exactly what you did.
Welcome back to the land of the living!

After she got it the first time, which we both congratulated her for, something went completely wrong. She dug herself even deeper, but broke download mode. That was extremely fun to fix.
Earlier today I was using my phone I forget what exactly I was doing I think I was using the web browser or opening an app. The phone randomly restarted and after the LG Logo screen appeared I got a blue screen for about 10 to 15 seconds and the screen went off. I pulled the battery to see if that would help but that didn't work. Tried safe mode and even factory reset both times got the blue screen (can get the little menu tho) I then plugged the phone into the computer and initially I could get it into download mode. But after installing the LG drivers, and installing LG Flash Tool I went to flash it back to stock. (My phone has pretty much been stock and unrooted except for the lollipop update. ) When I went to flash the phone screen went blue and the flash tool was unsuccesful at implementing the flash. I also tried the LG Mobile Support Tool. Now intermittently I can get the phone into download mode and get the computer to recognize the phone and LG Flash Tool to the ready stage to flash but after that no luck. Any suggestions? I have not tried fastboot or kdz conversions as I dont think those apply to my problem but I could be wrong

I work on phones for a living. Unfortunately, i think the motherboard is bad. Nothing you can do.
Bake at 350 for 10 minutes

I know this sounds ridiculous but I just did it this weekend and IT WORKS. I pre-heated my oven to 350, removed the motherboard (without sim and/or SD card) and placed it in the middle of my oven on a piece of white paper for EXACTLY 10 minutes. Afterwards, I let it cool and re-assembled. My phone is now working perfectly and I didn't lose any data that was on my phone. I was able to back up my data and am still using it, although I am prepared for it to fail again at any point. I know this sounds absurd but it works. I would post the link but I can't until I've placed 10 posts. I thought this was important enough to share with others and that is why I created an account here. If the moderators look at this please add the link. you can just search Google for "lg g3 blue screen fix oven" and it is the first result right now on forums.androidcentral.com. I'm gonna go ahead and use my phone until it dies again, but for the last 48 hours it has been working flawlessly.
I found the guide to unlock downgrade and root 20i, but since i was already on 20i i figured id just skip to the unlock part.
ADB connected.
Got the oem unlock to work flawlessly, tried to boot TWRP, and it said file sent, cannot boot, file unsigned (or something similiar, can copy paste the actual text when i get off work tonight)
I got annoyed and just booted the phone normally and it worked fine and is unlocked-
But cant get the phone to show up on adb again.
Maybe try the universal drivers? Seems to hang on the drivers- the laptop has them installed but the phone doesnt know that they are and keeps asking me to reinstall (which doesnt work)
Any ideas?
Should i start over, upgrade the stock rom and then downgrade, like the directions actually say?

The LG driver you've installed on your laptop is most likely no longer functional for the phone. If it shows in Device Manager when you're trying to connect it, uninstall it (mine didn't work either after unlocking/using FWUL, or something else, for whatever reason).
Once the current driver is uninstalled, turn off your computer, plug your phone in with the USB cable and then turn on the computer and let Windows install the driver now (It worked on mine).
See the attachment below for a screenshot of the current driver for my LG G4 that is working completely.
I got it to show up, but I've realised I have the motherboard issue common to G4's.
The phone hangs at 'bootloader unlocked' lg screen.
Hope the seller will give me a refund or exchange.

It may just be a 'soft brick' you've encountered, in which case you should be able to it overcome relatively easily. First thing to try, is just unplug the phone and take out the battery. Put the battery back in and see if it will boot up. If not, see if you can get into Download mode and flash your rom version for your phone model with LGUP-NEW.
With respect to TWRP, if you can get into bootloader/fastboot mode, refer to this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/development/recovery-twrp-3-touch-recovery-t3442424 and follow the instructions to flash by fastboot commands. Use the latest preview version for your rom version, i.e., MM, N or O.

Thanks for the tip. I already tried ADB (wouldn't boot reliably), LG UP (completes successfully- the phone, when LG UP sends the reboot at 75% or so, just hangs on the LG screen forever (though LG UP says it was successful). I also have LG Bridge, but haven't reached any level of success with it either. Luckily all these bookmarks will come in super handy with my replacement.
(Also the day it broke, somehow the camera activated in my pocket. I detected the warmth, but working an assembly line, under a cameras watch, I couldn't pull it out and fix it quickly.

OK - one last thing to try if you want to try it. Using the power and volume keys, see if you can get into Recovery mode to do a hard factory reset
- refer to this link for the how-to for entering Recovery mode: https://www.androidexplained.com/lg-g4-recovery-mode/
