[Q] Downgrade Lollipop -> Kitkat 4.4.2 SM-T700 how? - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,. I have made the mistake of updating to lollipop and now I can't live without Xposed, so I want to roll back to 4.4.2. can someone help me how?

Xposed now working on lollipop.
If you still want to go back just flash stock kitkat firmware with Odin.

Hm, can you provide a link? The thread that I visited before said that they can't guarantee Samsung stock ROMs compatibility. In my case I only got into bootloop...

You need to flash the correct framework. Use the search. It's been posted several times on here.

I found one here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...sed-framework-sm-t700-install-method-t2823004
but one of the Dropbox links are dead. I'll keep looking for another one but if you know what I need exactly - I would own you a beer or two. I would like to test Lollipop, but if it fails I'll roll back to 4.4.2

Ive just picked up one of these tablets and managed to root it and install custom revcovery.
To be honest I think there are zero custom ROM for this device and the supposed Lollipop ROM on those spam sites are bound to be a load of virus. I have seem three or four such 3 part download sites all of which are hidden behind a survey. All the comments on the sites are exactly the same but are posted by different people depending what site you look at which indicates they can't be trusted.
I have tweeted Lenovo to see if they plan a Lollipop update but no reply yet.
I think we need to either need to learn how to port or find a dev that can do it

Really nice to see your response, would you be kind enough to inbox me with your custom recovery. I really need to even get the stock rom to reflash if you could help. Thanks so much for replying and if we can get someone interested in porting to LP i would happy to contribute.

There isn't a Lollipop ROM yet for A7600f. It is possible to root and get custom recovery installed but as far as I can tell there is no official lollipop update or custom ROM development at all
Legit?

I checked the link and it is for the S8 smartphone which also as model number A7600. If you have that smartphone you test it at your own risk but if you are talking about a rom for A7600F tablet it won't be compatible.
As Lenovo don't seem to be official updating the A7600F tablet im guessing we need a custom rom. Unfortunately I don't think it's that popular a tablet so won't pull in developers and regrettably I'm not skilled enough to even know where to start.

I received the s8 a7600 with android 5.0 - it looks like that OS is just installed by seller, with multiple application that are a huge adware/spam generators. I tried to remove all (root/remove apps), but it destroys a little the functionality (dialer has opacity - not so easy to find what is going on, camera not working at all). But generally works. If anyone has skills - I am sure it can be easy fixed (for example install 3rdparty dialer - but that one from lenovo is pretty fine). But I think I will update phone with stock ROM, but I need to find how to do that safely and be sure I can back to the actual software...

A bit of a necro here ...
Yep, it is a long-winded guide. I wrote everything as best I could just in case.
I'd be surprised if more than 5 people are still looking to root this device. But for those folks, I updated the guide tonight.
I hadn't used the tablet much until this past week, my phone was doing better and I was only using the tablet for streaming videos as a portable TV. However my phone died and I finally got around to re-rooting the tablet (I has lost root after applying an OTA update about a year ago).
And no, there are not any custom ROMs ... no Lollipop ... no Marshmallow ... never Nougat ... for this tablet. This guide is PURELY for getting root on 4.4.
That said, here is the short version ... this MAY work on a never-rooted A10 A7600F ... it may only work to REFRESH the root. I have no good way of knowing as there isn't a chance in hell I'm going to revert everything to stock to find out
Glad to know at least 10 people got help from the guide.
UPDATE 9/22/2016:
Revised Steps are simple:
* Download Kingo Root (not King Root, that failed) APK version for Android.
* Run Kingo Root.
* If it fails, reboot, and try again (mine failed the first time)
* Assuming Kingo Root worked the second time (if not, see the original detailed steps below) ... DON'T REBOOT yet (when I did this, the root disappeared, so I had to run Kingo Root a 3rd time)
* Install a Root Checker and verify root access
* Install (first time) or uninstall and re-install (updating is fine if yours was out of date) SuperSU by Chainfire (other SuperSU may or may not work, Chainfire worked for me)
REBOOT
* Re-run Root Checker to verify root access (don't run Kingo Root before this) ... it should be using SuperSU to grant root, NOT Kingo
* If rooted, uninstall Kingo Root
* REBOOT
* Re-run Root Checker to make sure SuperSU continued to work after removing Kingo Root.

There are multiple "A7600" devices out there. This is specifically for the A7600F, aka the A10. Different device, ROMs not compatible with other A7600 devices. Lenovo can burn in hell both for their lack of updates as well as their naming conventions.
Hi all,
I have ported a CM13 ROM to this device to bring us to Android 6.0.1. if anyone is interested I will start a thread for and provide instructions and a link later today.

[Q] xperia z1c lollipop memory leak issue

is current xperia z1c lollipop still have memory leak issue ?
I used lollipop for 2 days already. and it always restart my game (minimized to background) after I open browser to use google (yeah only 2 recent apps displayed. chrome and game apps).
I hate this because my game need long time and heavy bandwidth at loading screen. I never get this problem when I used kitkat. I heard there's xposed module to fix this memory leak issue but my phone isnt rooted.
or is there a way to return to default OS (kitkat) like when I first bought it ? maybe I'll do this way. reset it to kitkat again. but I dont know how.
thanks.
You can flash stock kitkat with flashtool. I should have stock EU . 157 rom somewhere on my pc and can upload it if you want.
Flashing stock rom is pretty easy. Watch a tutorial or something. I can help you a bit more when back home.
Back to your question. I have no idea I'm still running kitkat as L is still not available in my country.

is it working to use your stock rom at my country ? I thought different country have different kind of rom. not sure about this if this is true or not.
flashing stock rom doesnt need root access, right ? and maybe can I also backup current lollipop OS that I have so I can reflash it when it has been fixed ?.
so far what I like from lollipop is when someone call me, I can still use other app because call notification only use small box on top of my current running app. I like this feature very much.
It depends where do you live. If in EU it should be fine. If not I can find a rom good for your location.
No, flashing custom rom does not require rooted device.
I think you don't have to do the backup as you'll be able to just update it again ( at least I think so)

Yes. But you dont have to backup the OS. You can download the Firmware using the XperiaFirm Tool >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/cro...xperifirm-xperia-firmware-downloader-t2834142

Generally you can root your phone without unlocking bootloader. It worked for me, at least on kitkat. I'm not sure what about the Lollipop though.
You should better ask someone else too as I'm not as experienced and don't want to give you false info.
But if there's pre-rooted rom here and it's working for android L you don't have to unlock bootloader to flash it.

okay I can get lollipop with root+xposed (all day tried this. I read some tutorial how to do it properly because this is my 1st time doing something like this. so tired ). although I dont know if xposed wont work perfectly like you said because I only use 3 modules so far. App Settings (keep screen on for game I'm playing) and Fix Lollipop Memory Leak and gravitybox (LP).
what I've done :
- downloaded kitkat 14.4.A.0.157 from XperiFirm. and flashed it using flashtool.
- I've realized .0157 can't be rooted for now. so I've used your link that you gave (Root FW 14.4.A.0.157 (LB/UBL) ).
- after get root access, then I installed recovery using Z1C-lockeddualrecovery2.8.11-RELEASE.installer.zip from http://nut.xperia-files.com/
- after that I flashed 14.5.A.0.242_CustomizedFR_Pre-Rooted_Dualrecovery 2.8.10 + Fix Xposed for Lollipop using recovery.
- and flashed Massive debloating and Xposed. links and procedure are also from that pre-rooted rom thread.
so far, no bootloop. dont know if I add some xposed modules again. I heard it will get bootloop if too many xposed modules is installed (?)

Hey there, the XperiFirm dev here.
No one answered your question so I will. The answer is: No.
Sony made sure to include the memory leak fix built in (the exact fix that the Xposed module offers) for their Lollipop releases. The Xposed module is pointless.
See attached screenshot. Basically the Xposed module replaces the AOSP function with exactly the same function but with this additional "release()" line. As you can see, Xperia already has this line included.

wow thanks to coming here :victory:
lol. so it's pointless to install that module because they are same thing exactly. time to uninstall.
actually my game is still restarted after I browsing a little. although I still see a lot of free memory in here. before, I thought this is because of that memory leak issue but I'm wrong.
if only there's module that can prevent lollipop refresh/restart/clear my game at memory when I minimized it at background.
I have the same problem, only with audio apps in the background. Pocket Casts, Stitcher and BeyondPod all crash and stop playing when running in the background, after I do something else like load the game Threes. This never used to happen with KitKat. I've also noticed that iplayer radio gets very jerky and skips back and forth by a quarter of a second continuously as soon as I turn off the screen. [edit - I just listened to it for a few minutes with the screen off and it suddenly cut out. I turned the screen on an the app was no longer in my notifications tray]
If Sony fixed this particular memory leak, what's going wrong with my phone? Could it be related to the fact that I've encrypted if for the first time? I'm getting desperate enough to consider factory resetting and losing everything, because listening to podcasts and playing threes is one of my favourite activities. It's not a demanding game for my year old, top of the line phone. My cheap tablet manages it, and so did the phone on KitKat!

So, first I'll quickly detail how I upgraded. Coming from Blisspop, I ran Autorec for Lollipop (linked in OP), rebooted to recovery, wiped flashed the ZVG radios (linked in OP), flashed the rom, and it was good to go. No tot back to stock required for me (YMMV).

I did the exact same thing to my ls980 coming from Blisspop 2.3 and it just looped at the LG boot logo. Then I flashed the kernel to see if that would work and now I can't even get the lg flash tool to see my phone in download mode! I can't even flash back to stock! Before that I tried to restore my my twrp backups but none of them are working now. Kinda pissed, not blaming anybody. I just wish sometimes things weren't explained in such a bleak manner. The more specifications the better. In other words, depending on which version of Blisspop and what phone model you're using....this might now work for everybody.

It's all good on my end. For some reason the laptop that I only use for flashing my phone to stock was set to the wrong com port. I flashed to stock, upgraded to ZVG, rooted, used AutoRec Lollipop, wiped everything except internal memory, flashed the rom, waited a little bit for the LG logo to disappear and everything has been smooth ever since. It's a nice, minimalistic, clean rom. Indeed worth the trouble, good work. One question? How can I get a menu button in the navigation bar in this rom? Is it there and I just can't find it?

First question, did you put the phone to cloudy 3g 2.1? It did you buy it that way?
Which service provider or carrier are you on? Sprint or someone else?
These are important as stock will only allow sprint to work.

Use the appropriate one for sprint. Take the ota, root via the one click method that is in "Sprint Android development".

Use the auto-rec lollipop from here
http://androidforums.com/threads/lg-g2-autorec-twrp-on-lollipop-stock-rooted.917299/
Then flash rom.

Will we have The Dorimanx kernel soon?
I've seen he wants to add it but hasn't yet. The Lollipop Dorimanx is out, but no new version with it. Will we see it anytime soon?

Also, can you bring back the original task manager into the ROM? I miss having the app built in. And I'm having problems with video playback when I record something.

How to install xposed framework?

I have tried several times but I'm not able to install xposed framework. my last attempt lead my sm-t705 to a bootloop, can anyone explain the steps here? I'm using tw 5.0.2, rooted, twrp recovery, up in the air 1.7 kernel.
Make sure your rom is deodexed then Install this zip via twrp:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3388977&d=1435913710
Then install the Alpha 4 apk:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3383776&d=1435601440
That's it, reboot and you should have xposed.

What you said doesn't make sense, if you modify a stock rom it becomes custom.
If you root, deodex and install xposed then your stock rom becomes custom.
You need to do all 3 to make it work.
I would suggest saving yourself some hassle and installing the rom below, it is practically a stock lollipop rom, which is deodexed and rooted. All you need do is install xposed.

thanks Ashyx,
what I meant by costume rom was that I want a clean rom with out any unnecessary modifications.
who is the developer of this rom? I've never seen this rom before except for t800.

Developer is not-i called sweetrom. Its a very good stable rom, hardly anything removed except for a few bloat apps.
@ashyx I am trying to get xposed on T800, do the files you attached work too or should I get something else? Can you refer me to the xposed thread you're getting the files from? I have xposed on my OPO with Blisspop but trying to get it on a Tab S T800.

I know this is an old thread but I need some help. I'm on the latest version of stock TouchWiz and I've gone through the deodexing process but I still cannot get Xposed installed. It sticks at the Samsung boot animation after flashing any and all zip files that TWRP allows me to flash.

You need to flash the latest arter97 build.
Does it boot after deodexing without xposed?

I've flashed every version of arter97's builds that said sdk21. I'll try again, and yes, it's booting just fine deodexed.
EDIT: "As far as my testing goes, only the Korean Note 3 firmwares should install "requestConcurrentGC" version." Because of that line there, I never tried flashing that particular version. Until now. It worked and finally booted up completely except no modules are showing up in the downloads section.
EDIT 2: Simply reinstalled the Xposed apk and the download section was populated.

Pretty much all Samsung devices running LL use the requestConcurrentGC version.
The latest versions will do a device check before installing anyway.

You can save yourself some hassle there are some great deodexed roms in the development section.
If you still want Xposed for stock check out the Arter97 thread for the latest modified Xposed. It has been patched to no longer require deodexing.

Thanks. I saw arter97's thread.
but in the first post, the quote is emphasized. I am note sure someone try it on odexed stock rom.
/* Prerequisite */
Due to my skills limitation, only deodex'ed ROMs are supported for now.
For more explanations, checkout post 2.
/* Supported firmwares */
Every ARMv7(32-bit) Samsung Lollipop Android 5.0 deodex'ed firmware should work.
But please note that I have tested this only on Galaxy S4, Note 3 and S5.

This ia ancient news, I think exposed killed my knox?, I thought it said it could not install because if it, it asked me if i wanted to disable knox so it could install, I said yes and knox was killed, this was over a year ago and i was on kitkat, is this correct.
Killing knox was the best thing for me once i realised it, no more worrying about killing it any-more, my 2 year warranty is almost out, and i have had no problems with my T800 10.5"

Noob with 5.1.1, but would prefer 4.4.4 if possible

Ok, I'll start off by saying that I have searched around, but haven't been able to find a definitive and up-to-date answer. Either that, or I just didn't understand an answer because I know almost nothing about any of the technical jargon.
Here's my problem. I just got a new Sprint Note 4 and it unfortunately came with 5.1.1 already loaded, so I didn't have a choice. I've seen the difference between Lollipop and Kitkat (and read numerous complaints), so I know that I would definitely prefer to be running Kitkat. And if there's any way to downgrade for 4.4.4, I'd like to do it now while the phone is new so I wouldn't have to worry about backing up a lot of data.
Useful information: the phone is an SM-N910P and is on N910PVPU4COG5, which I believe is the latest version.
Is there currently any known method--non-root, rooting, flashing, going to 5.0 and then to 4.4.4, etc.--to downgrade a Sprint Note 4 on COG5 to Kitkat? And if so, where does a laymen like myself start?
Thanks a lot.

+1 Way too many risks trying to downgrade. There was a way mentioned to flash any Lollipop ROM but I doubt it applies to KitKat.
Give Lollipop 5.1.1/OG5 a chance. It's got some security and bug fixes the other stock versions and ports don't have. There's even some ports like themes and Screen Off Memo that work with it. And Xposed works as well.
Development is coming along. Read the thread on Sacs Note 5 port for fixes fixes posted in the last 2 or 3 days for that ROM. (HINT: Before flashing, go into the zip archive to delete the test files in /system/etc/init.d and pull the build.prop and look for dpi and set it at 640 and replace it). That will get you started with a good custom ROM that should only get better going forward. I can't recall but I think was still yet another another fix posted in that thread.
Stock OG5 with Beastmode kernel is no slouch if you can get it setup to counter the issues from applying just root.

In that case, I highly recommend Hybrid X 3.0
The stock ROMs require a little attention. If you want to go with stock, I can send you a carbon copy of a PM I just sent to another user.
