All apps wont auto-rotate - One (M9) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Every app on the phone wont autorotate... I have autorotate turned on but its not woking.
Sent from my HTC One M9 using XDA Free mobile app

Not all apps will switch to landscape mode. This is app dependent.

If you are in a app that you know should auto rotate but is not, please see this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/help/gyroscope-t3095820
i got the solution, this is crazy but works...
go to help app(the one htc pre-installed on ur phone)
then go to hardware misbehaving?
hardware diagnostics
G-sensor test.
test it once , or twice. let it say failed.
next from that screen tap on calibrate g sensors
do the calibration on a flat surface
go back and do the test. this time it will say it worked.
and acctually, it did work, my autorotate , riptide, dot-breaker, everything based on gyroscope sensor is now working fine !!

[Q] No blank screen during call?

Since a few days my DHD does not go blank anymore while making a call? I searched all the possible settings, but can't find anything. Google doesn't show anything either..
When normally while making a call the screen goes blank, it stays on now. So the weirdest things happen during the call..
Anyone any ideas?
TNX!
Are you rooted? If you are you can use the proximity recalibrator tool. Search for it in the Development section.
If you arent, please inform us and we'll do the best we can to help.
Nope; not rooted, standard device with 2.3.3.
Maybe your prox snsor is broken. Download 'proximity screen off' free from market.
A cool app and also a good way to check the prox sensor. See if the sensor is working.
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using XDA Premium App
Ye it seems like the sensor is broken. Its a little thing next to the earpiece. Nasty little bugger.
But yes first download that app and see if it says anything.
Installed it, push "start services" and thats all thats happening...
You may need to go into settings. Select.to turn off device when sensor covered. Cover prox sensor for time set. See if it asks for perrission to turn off screen. If not check settings. If it still doesnt work sensor is broken.
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using XDA Premium App
I tried that already; tnx anyway. Looks like the d. thing is broken...

auto Rotation not work

hi to all
i search in this thread but no have any solution. i bought one x.... phone is fantastic but auto rotation not present... i've try all (reboot service mode, enable and disable option....) but i haven't find solution for this problem... calibration functional.someone found solution or this is a hardware problem???? thanks for any suggestions and sorry for my bad english
Auto rotation in apps or at the homescreen/launcher?
Apps should work.
Homescreen/launcher - HTC Sense doesn't allow automatic rotation. You've to use an app such as Rotation Locker.
When you play a game that uses tilt controls (try Temple Run if you haven't got one), does the tilting work?
I know some One Xs had bad g-sensors that would stop working. See if it is that, and get it replaced if that is the problem.

Dear Friend,
Its an unknown error of HTC one X. I also discovered it. When it was ICS 4.0.3 it was very good. After updating to 4.2.2 Jelly Bean the problem happened. Please follow my instruction that may help you. When you will find your G sensor calibration stopped.
1. Just Disable Auto rotation from Setting--> Display Gestures & Buttons. Or you can disable your Auto Rotation from anywhere you can find in your device setting. Just Uncheck the Auto Rotation.
2. Power Off your HTC one X. Remember No Restart. Just Power Off.
3. Leave it for 10 minutes or 20 Minutes.
4. Now restart and see what is happening. Your G sensor is working or not. You may go to Camera you will find it is Auto rotating. Leave your Auto rotation Setting. Just open the Camera and see Auto rotation is working or not.
5. If it is OK now you can check Auto rotation if you want to open browser in Landscape Mode.
6. If you failed or you have the same problem you just Go to the Power and Uncheck Fast boot and again follow from number 1.
I am confident because that really worked for me. I don't know it will work for you or not. I already told you this is such an unknown Error. May be a conflicting issue with HTC one X tegra Hardware to the JB 4.2.2 Android.
Thank you.

Won't auto rotate

I installed paranoid android and then formatted my sd card through recovery CWM and now my screen won't auto rotate at all despite having all options available to auto rotate on. I tried installing viper x 2.0 and reset the calibration and it worked. Installed cm9 again and it was still working. At this point I didn't know it was wiping the sd card that caused the issue so I did it again to get rid of all the left over files from having sense on there and now it won;t auto rotate again. Tried installing viper x 2.0 again and repeating the earlier steps that worked but that isn't working either now. Tried booting into safe mode and doing it there too but still no go....
This was all in a 2 day time period. I'm pretty sure it's not hardware as it stopped working then worked again but now it's not working...
Any ideas anyone? This is very frustrating
EDIT - I installed androsensor and accelerometer, gyrpscope, magnetic field, and orientation all say waiting for event.... Don't really know what that means but thought I would add it in anyway.

I've done some research and there are a fair few people having this same issue using different ROMS but most of them resetting the calibration worked. I can't reset calibration in cm9 or PA because there are no options to.

I think it's ROM issues as well but I've tried cm9 nightlies, paranoid android and viper x and i still can't get it to auto rotate. It was seriously working like last night then I wiped sd card this morning and no go. Man I'm so pissed at myself. Why did I wipe again. Argh. lol.

Hmm, maybe it's not to do with wiping sd card then. I thought maybe it deleted some necessary files for g sensor but I suppose they are probably installed to root directory...
Has anyone else had this happen? If so did they send it back and get fixed? Did you have it unlocked etc???

Couldn't get that work. Wouldn't let me put all numbers in. I'm on cm9 nightly. But I tired again to boot to safe mode. Does cm9 have safe mode? Press up volume until booted.... I still have access to all 3rd part apps though any way its working again. Wtf?

Really, I don't know what you should do at this point.... Probably we are dealing with an HW problem
And now it has stopped working after a reboot. This is so frustrating... Would it be hardware if it cuts in and out? Maybe the sensor is on its way out or something...Only had it for like 5-6 months. If my one x is unlocked will they still do warranty for faulty hardware? Plus I have a cracked screen. Do you think they will look at it under warranty for the sensor?

Just tried the app and can't do a thing with it. Compass doesn't work. Calibrate just tells me to move it in a figure eight motion. Does nothing.
I wonder if they will repair this If the boot loader is unlocked???

When I have a sense rom installed I can do the re calibrate in settings and after I press the calibrate button the little sensor things wobble around and it completes like normal but still doesn't auto rotate and no sensors except light and proximity return values. Games will rotate to landscape then if I quit home screen will be in landscape but then when I lock it and unlock it the home screen goes back to portrait and still doesn't auto rotate.
I got mine through online optus and our local optus store said they would send it away to Sydney and see if they will repair it even though the boot loader is unlocked. Said the worst they could do was say no we won't repair it. Gotta get everything back to stock first and relock boot loader anyway before I send it...
I'm starting to resent this phone
Especially if it is hardware as it wasn't even anything I've done to it myself.... when its working properly though I love it...

[Q] Compass not calibrated properly

Anyone here experiencing uncalibrated compass or rather if they have installed a compass app and shows different orientation?
Does anyone know how to calibrate well their compass?
Moving the phone in a figure of 8 horizontally doesn't work I've even tried vertically...
I'm using Tiny Compass and I've tried installing it on different android phones and tablets only the grand show a different orientation...
I use always a compass and gps apps due to nature of my work
Thanks in advance..
+1.
Think it is weak magnetic sensor.

the thing about caliberation iis just go to settings->motion->senstivity settings->gyroscope caliberation ... then place your phone on a flat surface and tap caliberate....
this may solve ur problem probably..
otherwise just go to dialer and type *#0*# u will see a new window , select sensor from their and see if all of them are working properly...:good:

then there are two options bro... probably there may be some error (lyk some kind f file missing or things lyk dat) if u r on stock rom just take backup of everything and factory reset your phone... sometimes it happens..
still if u r facing same problems i must say contact samsung servICE center to get ur phones motherboard replaced...as it may also be a hardware bug...
ultimately if u r on custom rom.. ask its developer to help u out..
Anyway I will contact Samsung service center.

[SOLVED][Q] Gyroscope not working.

:crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:
hi, i use the htc one m9 (dev eddition), i reside in india and had shipped this phone from the us.
my g-sensor(gyroscope) has an issue, it does not work anymore, it worked for the first few days but then it just stopped, nothing triggered it , it happened all of a sudden, ive tried several factory resets, wiping my cache from recovery and recaliberating the g sensor in both normal and safe mode( what i noticed here is that only the up/down moment is detected by the virtual spiritlevel, but not the left /right), but nothing worked for me. please let me know what to do to get my g-sensor working back again.
(is there a way i dont have to ship the phone to the us for repairs?)(htc one m9 not launching in india.)(i spoke to coustomer care , they didnt have the info for m9)

i got the solution, this is crazy but works...
go to help app(the one htc pre-installed on ur phone)
then go to hardware misbehaving?
hardware diagnostics
G-sensor test.
test it once , or twice. let it say failed.
next from that screen tap on calibrate g sensors
do the calibration on a flat surface
go back and do the test. this time it will say it worked.
and acctually, it did work, my autorotate , riptide, dot-breaker, everything based on gyroscope sensor is now working fine !!
