Not without unlock currently. Which, if you were unlocked i would assume you'd have already rooted. Sad to say there isn't anything for those that didn't get the unlock while it was available on day 1.
Not at the moment unfortunately.

maybe you can trade it for a note 2. Note 2 has plenty of modding going on.

and I totally understand. But there are like 8 threads about root, and they all have the same answer right now, and theres even a donations thread and someone who you can pay to s-off your phone.
It's getting a little nuts with these new root threads when the answer is - no, you can't root (well, bootloader unlock) right now. I mean it's literally on the front pages of the forum for this device.
/endrant
Sorry.

Just torrent the FoxFi app full version. You need to install a certificate which means you have to enable the lockscreen on your phone...but whatevs. Works for me.
Idk how i did it....but i use foxfi hotspot without lock screen pattern...which i remember it required me to have 0_o

Once you have s-off, you can unlock your bootloader and also get root.
Check out the thread, it's well worth the time.

no, with a view like this, I'm happy using a phone that doesnt have root yet, instead of mindlessly saying 'durrrr I hate sense, but I bought this phone anyway'
Here is a workaround that seemed to help the call quality issues I have been having and a lot of others have been having.
You will need your MSL for this.
Go to the Dialer
Type in ##3282#
Tap More
Tap Advanced
Tap Edit and enter the handset MSL
Tap EVRC_B
Set the option to Disable
Tap the Back Key and the device will Power-cycle
Now this is just a workaround. This isn't a solution. LG/Sprint should be releasing a software update to fix the issue.
Let me know if this works for you.
Cool, just applied this. What exactly is evrc_b?

I'm pretty sure it is HD Voice or something like that. Basically updated voice quality. But it is believed to be what is causing the issues.

The reason its better quality is cause of the bandwidth requirements of this codec vs the stock one. Also for HD voice to actually work, you need to be talking to another person with a HD voice capable device. i.e. G2 to One.
Thank you!!!!! I can actually have a phone convo now ?

Gotta try this on my wife's phone tonight. I had to do this on my note 3 until Samsung patched it. This leads me to believe all new phones on sprint will have this issue due to the tower upgrades. I see the galaxy mega has this issue I believe.
Hopefully LG issues an update. We shouldn't have to go through service menus to fix our phones.

Does anybody know - can we do things like that on international D802?
Thanks for this info!
This change has really helped my phone.
For international D208 , please?
Does anyone else check the other carrier forums? All the other carriers are receiving their devices but I'm also reading the sudden issues with complaints about the screen quality, battery complaints, issues with the Samsung rebate not going through errors,WiFi issues, slow internet, spen dead spots, and a speaker phone crackle. And all of us are worried about the release date lol. Which of these sudden glitches and flaws would concern you the most?

I agree. We will have a heads up on what to look for. Im coming from a rooted s3 and still fairly happy with it but can't pass up the trade in deal. If its not the right phone ill return it and wait for something better. My note 10.1 2014 edition handles anything my s3 can't. Thanks tethering and unlimited data.
Since I have rooted my S6 this (com.tmobile.pr.adapt) has asked for root access? Anybody know what it is? I have denied it for now till know more.

The app does a security check. Technically being Rooted can breach security so they check for it and notify you about it. How does that make them "pricks" ? If you don't like it, then disable the app.

you can do anything you want with your phone, when you buy it outright..
they just dont want you doing anything you want with YOUR phone when you are on THEIR network..
not saying I agree with them, as I have also denied it access and frozen it in titanium, but I understand why they want to know what is accessing their network from our phones, I just dont like the sneaky way in which the carriers do this without informing customers up front..
and rooting has NEVER caused me any issues when needing service or warranty from Tmobile...

unfortunately, they dont know that..
EVERY public network in the world is subject to endless attacks, hacks, and attempts to bring it down, so the carriers, just like the banks, the feds, the military, and every other public institution feel its their right to know what people are doing on their networks, and i tend to agree with this.
If you dont like them watching what goes on on their network, then go back to the days of coffee cans and string to communicate with others, because every carrier and every network provider watches and monitiors everything possible on their networks; there is no getting around that in this day and age..

I have a Samsung galaxy note 10.1 2014 edition and am curious about something. Is there a way to swap out the SoC, with proper tools, in order to improve performance and multitasking abilities? I love my tablet but it's starting to feel outdated and since Samsung hasn't announced a 2015 version, I figure my best bet would be to put in a Snapdragon 820 once it's released. Please add helpful comments and insight. I just need to know if, theoretically, this pursuit is possible before I start out on this venture.
Thank you all in advance.

SoCs are soldered into the motherboard, so it's not possible
Even if it were possible to physically change the SoC, you'd need to modify the kernel to support it, which pretty much only people who've worked at a smartphone manufacturer would know how to do
I understand that, with the right tools, it is possible. I am curious as to the level of difficulty required in doing so.

Sure it is possible, but likely incompatible pinouts, voltage differences, and driver differences make it a non trivial thing to do unless you want a dead tablet. I wouldn't bother.
