[Q] Idiotically put i9100 firmware on my Spring 4G Touch - How Screwed am I?

I guess I got a little bit too hyped about ICS and tried to update my SPH-D710 with a nice little tutorial. It worked pretty well until I realized that the modem/wifi/home button (and who knows how much more) don't work. No big deal right? I found the stock firmware and powered up Odin... Except my phone is no longer recognized by ANY computer. I've tried XP, Vista, 7 (32 and 64). I've installed the drivers or Kies and played with every combination I could find... but absolutely NO love.
I can boot into the up-home-power screen that looks like it would allow me to load firmware off an SD card, but I can't seem to get that to work. Is this phone completely screwed?
no you aren't completely screwed. if you can do all that there is hope. there is a couple threads by viperboy about ics. many people who jave been able to turn it on and all that have recovered. either find the threads or ask him. you are very lucky dude.
I've been looking thru viperboy's posts and can't seem to find anything that really applies to me. Is it weird that the clockwork screen won't let me pull anything off the MicroSD? I feel like I've run completely out of options here.

Wait, so you do have a custom recovery installed (CWM).
I think so... It's "android system recovery 3e"... It doesn't detect my SD card though for whatever reason... just gives me "failed to mount /sdcard (No such file or directory)". Is there a certain file system the SD card needs to be formatted with? It's currently Fat32.
in the ics thread from viper in general. lots of people flashed it then wanted to go back. I'm unsure of what they did aa I have never didi it. but I know they got back up and running. maybe the uk drivers idk. but the still is hope dude.
How does this happen? People need to start paying more attention when flashing. You have a $500 phone. How did u flash this rom? By recovery or Odin? If u used Odin it worse cause that means u flashed the international bootloaders and u will need the drivers so your computer can recognize it. Let us know what steps u took.

No you do not have a custom recovery... What you are describing is the android stock recovery. You are not going to be able to flash anything with that. My suggestion would be to get Mobile Odin. Since your radio is not working, you will not be able to download it from the market, thus you will have to get the .apk to an external memory card. Then install it that way. After that, then download a stock tar file to the card. Flash with the mobile odin and Viola you should be up and running.
Exactly what I needed to hear. Appreciate the help!

Actually shredder once you get mobile odin up and running. I would flash a custom recovery/kernel next. Here's a link to Rogue's recovery/kernel. Download the odin tar file. Then flash the file via mobile odin. This will give you a custom recovery. Once you have this, you can then use the rogue recovery to flash a new stock ROM.

First prob is you will need root for mobile Odin. Second is you can not achieve root with file you flashed. I have helped out others in this same situation. Both phones that boot and ones that wont boot. All have ended unsuccessfully. The only way sofar is either Jtag service or play dumb at your local sprint store. I will post some example threads and jtag links for ya. BrB.

Hey Indrid, so there is no way to achieve root with what he flashed.
Go to mobiletechvideos.com and have josh j tag your phone for the record our phone is SPH-D710

What a *****! Thanks a lot for the help guys. I'm on a corp account so hopefully our rep will help me out without too much of a hassle.
Definitely was one of the dumbest things I've ever done, it never occurred to me that there were such drastically different "Galaxy S2" phones!

If it's a company phone, find a large magnet, rub it all over the phone, then call your rep. I have had to call in atleast a dozen warranty replacements at my job because the end user carried their phone into an MRI room (We own/partner with diagnostic imaging centers). Our corporate rep had no issues with warranty replacements. However I will let you know this now. If your rep is a third party company, Sprint changed their policy on how third parties have to handle warranty replacements. Once the replacement is submitted, it must be handled 100% by the actual Sprint Rep, the third party rep is nolonger permitted to process warranty replacements.

No not on my et4g .But I did do this on a vibrant but there is a way to force a brick. Then you can start back from scratch. It's called eugene's froyo that does not brick. But it does soft brick the phone and resets the bootloader. This is what is needed for the et4g. I am in talks with other dev's from the vibrant forums to try and get one a phone.

Ok now I see

[q] confused/lost att kk install

I have searched the forum for my answer but I am still confused. I have E980 stock, rooted and on T-Mobile. I want to upgrade to ATT KK but I am confused as to how to go about it. I know I could find someone who uses ATT and do it OTA. However, I do not know anyone that uses their service. Last night I downloaded the LG flasher and the ATT zip from a post on here but have yet to do anything
How do I go to KK? Can I use this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2754294 even though its for another model? I have no idea what a tot or kdz file is. Its not coming together for me. I also read a post where a person who was on T-Mobile mentioned that you have to change the build properties. This doesn't make sense to me because when I bought the phone and unlocked it, I didn't have to change the build properties.
I know I am missing something but I could use some help. I have searched for the last couple of days and I am still confused as to what exactly I have to do. I had an S2 and I would flash all of the time but the LG process doesn't make sense to me.
Sincerely,
Stuck On Stupid

It took me a lil bit too figure it out. At first with the flash tools it kept asking for a code or some crap like that. Google search revealed that I needed to overwrite the megalock with a hacked version within the folder with flash tools. I had to download winrar from download.com. Extract the dll and tot files to a folder I created on my desktop. If you do decide to use the flash tools method then I will stress that you need patience. It took me about 5 times to complete the process because I didn't let the process finish. I would see it display an error and automatically assumed it had failed and I didn't leave the phone alone. I thought something went wrong. On my last attempt I just let the tools do its thing. It displayed an error a couple of times but then would resume the process. It took some time for it to complete so be patient. Good luck.

Hey man!
I just did the whole thing less than a week ago my first time too. The method worked on mine & I was 8.5.1 as well so yea it should work!
I'm on Cyanogen 12.1 Oct 23rd nightly release using it to type right now.
If ya have any probs or questions hit me up! I'll be checking in regularly to see if anyone's seen my posts about some bugs I've encountered.
Be sure your device is rooted first, familiarize yourself with the android-sdk stuff on your PC & the tough part for me was ADB (Android Debugging Bridge).
Once you can get the correct drivers to communicate with the kindle (with ADB enabled) it will go fairly quickly.
---------- Post added at 09:59 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:47 AM ----------
Here's the ADB drivers from Amazon..
https://developer.amazon.com/appsan...etting-up-your-kindle-fire-tablet-for-testing
I used iRoot to get root on my kindle but people around here are leery of it cause its a Chinese root kit & nobody's sure what all it does. Its a one click App pretty easy to use. Ya gotta go to your settings and allow installation of 3rd party apps & make sure you're connected to the internet when you run them because they say they use a cloud based platform to search for specific root methods on your device.
http://vrootdownload.com/iRoot/#.Vi6eenwo62c
There's probably a better variant of that app I dunno if this one will work but I bet it will.
http://www.kingroot.net/
There's some Root checker apps you can get for free at the amazon store to see if it worked & ya got root access.
---------- Post added at 10:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:08 PM ----------
I just wouldn't mess with or install anything else the app suggests once inside. Just click the root button, if it works great, get out don't install anything from inside the app & don't mess with anything else inside the app unless you're the brave & daring type..

The Kingroot developers have posted here before, you can see what they had to say here..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/one-click-root-tool-android-2-x-5-0-t3107461
If I were you I'd try Kingroot first its newer & and from the same people. I used Kingroot on my Samsung S4 late model Verizon & it worked when pretty much everyone else was stumped.
You can remove Kingroot stuff with a one click app called #Supersume & then you can install the more traditional root manager app #SuperSU by Chainfire.
Don't just uninstall Kingroot apps or you'll lose root access & hafta run Kingroot or iRoot again to regain Root access.
The Kingroot & iRoot apps are very easy to use. You shouldn't need a PC at all, I didn't.
Hit me up if any probs..
I've had great success using the instructions in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/kin...k-rom-to-hashcodes-lp-5-1-x-kfhd-8-9-t3149826

I need help rooting!

recently, I bought an rca viking pro 10.1 running android lollipop. As any modifier using xposed knows, to install xposed on anything lolli and higher, the corresponding zip file needs to be flashed. scince it is a rca device, I could probably get away w/ a custom revvery for the maven or voyager pro, but I find it too risky (I played on tate for a looooooooooonnnnnnng time). to root, the only way i could find to root the device is using kingroot and installing their crappy ver. of supersu, wich then cannot be removed or updated because... because, well- its freaking Kinguser. using supersu-me will efficiently break the procces without breaking my tablet. I have yet to get adb drivers to work, as I uaually do everything on-site (the fact that rca does not release any drivers makes no sence at all) or I would've put it in fastboot and typed "fastboot oem root" (I'm pretty sure) so right now, the safest way for me would flashing the zip through, flashfire by CHAINFIRE, requiring the supersu binary witch doesn't exist, won't work, so...
Long story short, how in the freakin' world do I install the supersu binaries w/out (on the viking pro) using my least favorite app- kingroot?
any suggestions, i am open to anything!
Why do you not want to use kingroot? Do you not have supersu me?

Htc 526 root---need a way!!!

I have my HTC 526 Verizon (if that makes a difference) that I would like to root and play around with everything I can do with rooting
But... I have tried many one touch rooting methods across the world of apk's and none seemed to work. KingRoot is showing they're working on a way but not so sure on how long it will be until there's a way. :/
If someone has a safe way to root it then pleeeeaaaaseee help!

Try towel root it's available in the play store and that is one click straight to your device and the best part is it doesn't have to be done via PC. I know that one works cause I rooted my LG with it and did it through my device
