Lenovo's online-only smartphone brand, Zuk, has launched in China alongside its first handset - the Z1. The smartphone will go on sale starting August 18.
The Zuk Z1 features metal frames around the handset and includes no branding from Lenovo. There is only a Zuk logo branding at the back of the handset.
With its $280 price tag, ZUK is going head-to-head with a number of other thrifty Chinese manufacturers like Xiaomi, Meizu and Elephone, and especially with the infamous OnePlus Two.

Some ZUK Z1 Real Photos :
Think a couple of the specs in your post below need correcting, it supposedly has the Snapdragon 801 processor and a 64GB ROM
WIll be keeping an eye out for this, not sure if it will make it to Europe/UK or not. I've currently got a Oneplus One and spec wise this phone is almost identical apart from the bigger battery, nicer build materials/quality, fingerprint scanner, OIS on the rear camera OIS, 8MP front camera, USB Type C, dual SIM.
It has been said that elephone should have already received a first batch of ZUK Z1. This means automatically that it can not wait long in coming, until we have the goods available.
Once we have the product you can look forward to a first review in different languages before there are more reviews by external reviewers.
*
So stay tuned.

Ok thanks didnt know that. Looking forward to seeing more of this phone, it could be a great device with the hardware announced. I know its not the cutting edge of specs but it should still be a solid device.
This smartphone is so cool. Specs are also great.

why would a Lenovo company need a minnow Elephone to sell its Zuk Z1 internationally.
Lenovo is a well known name as a PC maker and Motorola owner

Looks like the most reliable leak about the upgrade to Zultra with a very very thin bezel.
By the looks of it, it may be available pretty soon as well..
The Sony Xperia C5 Ultra has a huge 6-inch 1080p screen and a virtually non-existent side frame. This is just 0.8mm thin, this compares to a 2.2mm thin side frame in the Xperia C4 and 2.5mm thin frame in the Xperia T2 Ultra. These small bezels mean that that the Xperia C5 Ultra is barely much bigger than the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus.
I dont know much about the processor but sounds disappointing - http://www.mediatek.com/en/products/mobile-communications/smartphone1/mt6752/
( Just opened a new thread since all the other news in the past were just speculations )
The XperiaC5 Ultra will probably get more attention than the M5. It's a big 6-inch phone with a 1080p LCD. The bezel on the left and right of the screen is just 0.8mm wide, which looks neat. Unfortunately, that's the most interesting thing about the design. It's otherwise a very typical Sony device. Inside you get 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and an octa-core MediaTek MT6752 chipset. It'll cost the equivalent of $350.

See ya Sony... Hello P8Max
I really hope that Sony DOESN'T label the C5 Ultra as a "successor" since it is a downgrade CPU wise while offering the same amount of RAM and storage as the existing model. As a lowend phablet, it is quite decent, though.
The Huawei P8 Max is interesting but the lack of developer support (root, ROM) hold me back. Buying a device with a modified 5.0.2 without any reported updates to 5.1.x and 5.2/M sounds like a bad idea even if it is a nice device in other aspects.
I have not tried the P8 Max but the P8 feels great from a quality standpoint. If Huawei would cooperate with XDA like Sony does, it would be a really great option.
Edit: I hope Sony will introduce a Z5 Tablet Compact with a Snapdragon 820. If they are unwilling to give us a new Ultra, then a Z5 TC would be great.
Hope Z5 Ultra had the same design
Sent from my C6833 using XDA Free mobile app
They are official now, if only C5 Ultra had better specs...
M5 looks good
I'm liking the M5, looks like it's a Z3+ without the firedragon in it. Probably what the Z3+ should have been.
I've shifted my size wants with regard to phones, went 3.7", 4.3", 4.6", 5.2", 5.5", 5.6", 5.2" and now I want a 5", just like M5
Apart from the Mediatek chip, the M5 ticks all the boxes. And given I don't game on phone the weaker GPU in the X10 isn't a factor. It seems far more efficient than the SD810.
I'd say Sony have canned the Z3+ production and tweaked slightly to make the M5.
I guess this means the Z5 will have an SD820 in it and possibly a 5.5" screen?
Sounds interesting, but disappointed with the M5 processor (mediatek's, right?)
Mediatek ain't a bad chip, I've had a MX4 and I rather liked it.
Sent from a mobile gadget.
I dont it matters as long we have a lag free device.
Dont know if sony will be proactive with bootloader unlock and may be a playstore version

No CustomROM, modded Stock ROMs possible, root possible.
And yea, that's the end, really boring phone cos MediaTek has no opensource for External and Hardware

Maybe the team behind the stock firmware in Sony give us a hand in this case.
They know what are they facing if they changed the processor.
Havent read if its going to have the clean AOSP with sony apps (this would be the best scenario for us)

MTK devices have not really received a proper way to unlock, but there are ways i guess.
M5 is really too expensive and not worth on my carrier, it's selling at $418 SGD on a Combo 2 Student Plan $38 per mo. I could top up $100 more and get a Z series phone so what's the point of getting this phone.
Other carriers offer at $200+ for the device on a $42 per mo plan and Z series cost about $400-$500. Guess i won't be getting M5, no open source code is even more a minus
No MTK Source = no custom ROM.
I think Sony is obligated under the GPL to release the sources?
Anyway, in a month or so the picture will be clear. I strolled across the M4 forums, and there's zero to none original development there. Hope M5 will have a better fate.
Elephone has started to release the smartphone Elephone Ivory to become the killer of UMI ROME, the phone comes with a 5-inch 720p display, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal memory, and Mediatek MT6753 chipset running at 1.3Ghz. It has AMOLED display, 3GB RAM and fingerprint scanner.

It can support preordering now at $99.99. And you can try it to become the best gift of Christmas gift. So what do you think this smartphone? Will it kill UMI ROME, Xiaomi Redmi note 2?

Great price, How about battery life?
"Will it kill UMI ROME, Xiaomi Redmi note 2?"
No, it won't kill either.
Umi Rome has 3GB instead of Elephant's 2GB RAM. Rome has AMOLED screen while Elephant doesn't. Though Elephant has Android 6.0 instead of Rome's 5.1. The issue would be solved with next month's new ROM release according to official announcement. It's a tie at best.
As for Elephant vs. Xiaomi Redmi Note 2. It's 720P vs. 1080P, 2800mAh v.s. 3060mAh, MTK 6753 v.s. Helio X10(6795) , are you kidding me?

Elephone Ivory Hands on review--The cheapest 2.5D curved glass smartphone until now
As you know, Elephone has released Elephone Ivory smartphone with 2.5D curved Glass screen. And it is the cheapest and most competitive one for elephone right now to compete with other brands, like UMI, Xiaomi, Ulefone, etc. It’s powered by MTK6753 Octa core processor, and it uses 5inch 720p HD screen , can support 4G LTE network, fortunately, it can have two versions, one is Europe version, the other is US version, which means you can use the 4G LTE freely in most countries. It can also support updating to Android6.0 Marshmallow OS. Hope you can tell me what’s your idea.

The phones you mentioned are variants of Android One. Though their ROMs are updated faster, the first phone has only Snapdragon 410 and 2GB RAM, the second has Snapdragon 410 and 1GB. The Elephone has MTK 6753, which performs better than 410. So it's up to you, faster CPU or earlier access to ROM update.
Also, I don't think you want to use Android 7.0 with Snapdragon 410, just doesn't make sense.

yeah, you are right, this is the main advantage.
Chinese big brand, Xiaomi has leaked its news gradually now about the next flash ship, Xiaomi MI5. We have seen much rumors about this high-end smartphone. But it still didn’t release it. Now i have heard the latest news that it will arrive in Feb, 2016. I was so excited about it.
The Mi 5 will reportedly be the first Snapdragon 820 phone to launch in the world; .Another leak that has to do with this very phone is an alleged leak that depicts thin bezels. Now, it isn’t really going to be a surprise to have a 2016 phone with slim bezels, but getting a glimpse of that in 2015 doesn’t hurt. So have at it below:
As for other specs, Xiaomi mi5 will have 5.2inch display, RAM 4GB/3GB version, laser auto focus rear camera (16-21 mega-pixel), and a battery of around 3500mAh in capacity and non-removable in nature.

Will the phone (or Redmi 3) work in US at all? I have not been able to find any information indicating one way or the other.

See my review of the Xiaomi Redmi 3 here, I'm super impressed with it. And it won't get LTE in US, but it will get 3G/HSPA+ though.
any one of you was able to flash GAPPS?
Dedicated slot for extended memory
From what I see it has dedicated slot for extended memory as well as dual SIM. Redmi 3 is a great phone but you have to chose between extended memory or second SIM so that counts me out.
Today Nubia has announced Nubia Z11 smartphone officially, it's a no bezel smartphone with dual 2.5D curved screen, and they announced it in two version, one is RAM 4GB, the other is RAM 6GB. Check Nubia Z11 smartphone as follows:
72.3mm width, 7.5mm thickness
5.5inch fhd screen
2.5D curved and sleek design
Snapdragon 820
6GB LPDDR4 RAM and 128GB ROM,
RAM 4GB ROM 64GB
dual sim card, dual standby
nubia UI 4.0 OS
8MP front camera, 16MP back Sony IMX298 camera
3000mAh battery
RAM 4GB ROM 64GB standard version at 2499 yuan, $416, and RAM 6GB ROM 128GB advanced version at 3499 yuan, $586
Therefore, will Nubia Z11 smartphone kill Oneplus 3? Anyone will compare them?

nubiamobileshop and oppomart have 4/64 gb version in pre-order , but higher price
Oneplus 3 is sold without SD slot, the Z11 have it (hybrid Sim2/SD to 200gb)

Insanely beautiful phone. I can't afford but I will buy it if it becomes available to Western markets. Bout time to upgrade my nexus 4.
Anyone know exactly what colours are coming out?
I think Silver has a white front
Grey has a black screen
Gold has a gold screen
HOPEFULLY Rose Gold has a black screen.

I think you have to wait for cases... If you pre-order on nubiamobileshop, who's supoorting worldwide shipping , you can add 1 or 2 types of cases with your order.
This phone is awesome, but he 's not supoorting B20 ( LTE 800Mhz). I think I Will buy it, but there is no développement in western, and he will probably never have an official thread on xda...

Hi all,
Does anyone know the difference between the International and Chinese version, from what i can tell the hardware is the same and it's just the ROM ?
Got my eye on one on Ebay that's being shipped from the UK and has mutli language stated so from what i can tell this is an international version, can anyone confirm ?
For me it's the perfect phone with it's decent spec's, good camera, rear fingerprint sensor, small/no bezels, capacitive buttons, the only other thing i'd really like is a dedicated camera button (a la sony). Can't think nor find another 'flagship' with that combination. I have a Samsung S7 currently and a LG G5 before that and miss the rear fingerprint sensor badly but then i love capacive menu/back buttons :silly:
Thanks in advance
