[Q] Problem with binaries - Desire 816 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I am new in this forum, but I have a question.
My device is HTC Desire 816 with unlocked bootloader and CWM recovery (I followed the manual in this forum)
After I booted into CWM I installed SuperSU binaries (at theory) without errors. I clicked reboot now. It asked me if I want to root yes or no. I chose yes. But however, when I booted into the device and started SuperSU (after an update from the Google Play Store) it said that I don't have binaries.
Please help.
(Also, my Android version is 5.0.1)

Try flashing this version of SuperSu.

It worked!
It worked, thanks a lot! But now I have another problem. I am trying to open wp-mod.ko to get access to the system folder. But, however when I do the command
su
insmod /storage/(something)/wp-mod.ko
It says insmod: Can't open wp-mod.ko
I have tried many types of file path but no result. I have copied the file both on my internal memory and in my SD card. Please help.
P.S. I am using Terminal Emulator by Jack Palevich

[Q][Solved] Google Apps on cm10

Hey,
I've read all the guides and they all kind'a passed through my problem without mentioning it..
I suppose it's a driver issue, but I'll try asking anyway:
I'm on cm10 (as of tonight), upgraded from cm7.
I installed TWRP 6 mo ago though KFU, but now I can't get it to work.
(it says "offline").
I tried connecting with 2 PCs and no luck (reinstalled drivers, restarted and rebooted several times).
Is there another way to install google apps? installing them one by one doesn't work ("App not installed").
and is there another way to update TWRP and FFF from within the KF, as opposed to by PC (not recognising KF)
i want to install my google account and get the KF to work normally with Gapps.
*yeah, I'm a noob.
some details:
I have the java dk and android sdk installed, downloaded the last JB Gapps.
adb shell (ie) gives me "error: device not found"
I have samsung gs2 i9100 that i use on the same PC
i can mount sd card using TWRP and cm10 with no difficulty.
You can transfer the files to your Kindle via AirDroid or directly download the file to the Kindle.
Boot into TWrP and install the Gapps and TWRP updates just like you installed the ROM.

Or you can use smirkit to update fff and twrp. I'm not 100% sure that it will work on cm10 but you can give it a shot.

with youtube learn about root, install twrp flash roms install android market
all with this boy from youtube
and for now i'm on cm10 jelly bean rom twa_priv.

Thank you again!
details for anyone who has the same problem:
I had root, FFF and TWRP from previous installation, but older versions (twrp 2.0, FFF not sure), used cm7.
couldn't install Gapps on cm10, had no access via PC (prob. driver issue. gave me trouble - KFU and adb command didn't recognize device)
what I've done:
1. entered TWRP through recovery and flashed google apps in their original zip.
2. downloaded busybox & goomanager (Terminal emulator was already preinstalled in cm10)
3. opened each app to enable superuser [su] and install busybox
4. from goomanager, downloaded: browse all files -> devs -> smirkis -> otter -> smirkit -> smirkit v1.4 installer (most recent)
5. tried flashing it through terminal emulator ("su", enter, "smirkit", enter). su worked, smirkit didn't find the file.
6. rebooted to recovery (twrp 2.0), installed/flashed smirkit from there (the zip file was inside goomanager folder)
7. rebooted to cm10, opened terminal emulator, wrote "su", enter, "smirkit", enter and it worked.
8. installed TWRP 2.2.0 and FFF 1.4.
9. performed backup when everything was working.
EDIT:
managed to get it to work with PC commands. disabled and then enabled usb debugging & reinstalling drivers made it work this time. drivers are so random.
Thank you so much for your help. now I can use my kindle again with Gapps and updated recoveries.

[Q] Find 7: "no su binary installed and supersu cannot install it"

Hi folks,
I've follow ParotZ's Recovery Installer process to root and am having SuperSu issues.
I install recovery (option 5), then reboot to recovery (option 0), system > reboot > swipe to install > and then once it loads I'm greeted with
"no su binary installed and supersu cannot install it"
I've put UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.16 on internal storage and tried earlier versions and flashed, with the same result.
The SuperSu app is installed. I attempted a manual update on the Play store, but the 'no su binary' message is still there.
I can't uninstall supersu, either with an uninstaller app or through Play (it does not show 'uninstall', just shows 'open')
It persisted after I factory reset and wiped (not through recovery).
Any help? Keen to get on Cyanogen.
My phone specs.
Model
Oppo x9076
ColorOS
v2.0.0i
Android version
4.4.2
Build number
FIND7WX_12_141017

I've seen others with the question, but none with answers for the Find 7 :/
Cheers!!
solved
Hi folks,
I've solved the issue. I could not root using that method because I had updated the OS and there was some form of conflict that stuffed the SuperSu binary.
So I downgraded back to stock (the earlier ColorOS) and reapplied the root process.
For those with the same issue follow these steps http://theunlockr.com/2014/08/22/how-to-unroot-the-oppo-find-7-video/
Then reattempt the root.
Note that step 6. "Using the volume buttons to navigate and the power button to select the option you want, select Wipe Data and Cache." will erase the OS you just copied over, so do this prior to copying the OS or you'll just need to do it again.
When the OS loads and you come to the update SuperSu step, my Play store wouldn't load due to I think a delay in the accept terms of use popup. So I used the TWRP method and it worked fine.
Good luck.
Darren.

[Q] ( SOLVED) Please help. Can not flash Superu

Hi everybody,
I'm a newbie.
I tried to root my phone but just can not flash superu.
I flash TWRP ( 2.5.0.0) via ODIN sucessfully with a green Pass . Reboot phone to recovery and Hit System and TWRP asked me to swipe if i want to root my phone. I did and my phone reboot after some action performed by TWRP.
I checked with root check basic and it said Root access is not properly installed on this device. I tried to run TWRP manager apk. It said to run the apk phone need rooted. So I know the phone has not been rooted.
I did the following to see if I can correct the problem.
1)Reboot to TWRP recovery and flash CWM_Root_Superuser_3.1.3_Busybox zip file. No success.
2) flash another zip: su-3.0.5-efgh-signed. No sucess.
3) flash another zip: Update superU-1.51 : No success.
4) Flash ClockworkMod Touch Recovery 6.0.2.8 then try to run Install zip on SD card but CWTR return with an error "can not mount sd card "
Please help so I can root my phone. Thanks.

HELP!!After trying to root ı had "Insufficient file permission"error Probably bricked
I unlocked bootloader then ı tried to root my phone.
After finished root SuperSu gived "There is no Su Binary installed. you need to manually re root." error.
And ı now HTCSync doesn't recognize my phone, ı couldn't transfer documents to my phone, couldn't take photos, couldn't run lots of apps.
Probably ı bricked.
Have you got twrp installed if so make sure rom is on sdcard then just do a complete wipe NOT including the sdcard, then simply flash the rom from the sdcard.. simple.
Using TWRP ?
Boot to recovery
select wipe - format data - yes
reboot to recovery, now you should be able to mount your internal storage.
One thing to note is all files in internal storage are wiped
If you have proper root (I doubt you have that now), you can try run this on adb
Open command prompt and run these :
su
restorecon -FR /data/media/0
exit
exit
reboot

What version SuperSU? If its an old version, it won't work on Lollipop, its a common mistake.

Probably nothing. If the screen comes on, you are not bricked.
Restore the nandroid you made before trying to root. If you were negligent in making a nandroid, get the proper stock nandroid from one of the collection threads.

can't install Magisk

tried to replace SuperSU with Magisk via TWRP.
Magisk won't take by itself.
Removed SuperSU. Tried again. Still NG.
"adb reboot recovery" back to TWRP and flashed SuperSU. I have root back, though I don't see SuperSU in the app drawer.
The info to install Magisk leave a bit to be desired.
"install manually" what does that mean?
Remove root (SuperSU) seems to prevent one from installing Magisk, though I did "adb reboot recovery" to get the re-install of SuperSU done.
In the long run, I want to update our other H811 to 20x from 20q. Thats' what started me down this track.
Any input?
Did Magusk Zip Got Trough without any issues in TWRP?
Did you have the magisk App in drawer after flashing Magisk?
Magisk manager is sometimes an older version, so you have to go to magisk manager (app) open ist and click on upgrade or install upgrade.
sometimes my device needed 2installations. one in twrp an another in MAgisk app. but both were v16.0 zip.
no & no. "updater process ended with ERROR: 1
Error installing zip file '/external_sd/Magisk-v16.0.zip'
Tried installing Magisk Manager, which went ok. And then Magisk from that. Error.
"Boot image patched by other programs (SuperSU, perhaps?)
Please restore stock boot image."
So I ran the script that removes SuperSU.
Tried install again from MM.
"Select stock boot image dump in .img or .img.tar format."
No idea where to find that.
Tried this method.
NG. SuperSU doesn't show in app drawer, though it appears to be working as I can reboot recovery from the phone without going into Terminal and adb.

You should Always search the TWRP errors you have, that gives you more info.
Error 1 means on your system partition is not enough space anymore, so delete or Freeze some bloatware/apps and it should go trough.
boot.IMG files are containt in KDZ (firmware files).
Maybe you should visit https://******************/
and read trouh installation (with pictures) for better understanding.

all is well.. thanks very for the help. and I installed the Xposed module that works with TextAid and MM.
also your link won't doesn't seem to work. I've found that a I've had to use shortened links of late or they don't fire on XDA.
Guys I can't run Magisk on my LG G4 H815 with Nougat v29a. After removing Supersu and flashing magisk 17.1 with twrp, the phone doesn't boot normally. It reboots recovery when I click reboot system. It always reboot recovery. I don't know why.
Do you have any Idea?
