There have been multiple threads on this already.
But basically, other than losing some ability for warranty claims from LG, you don't loose anything.

If you have the phone set up the way you like it now (before unlocking and rooting), use the LG Backup software on the phone to back up to an SD card.
When you unlock bootloader, the internal data drive (user data) will be wiped.
After the unlock and root, simply restore your backed-up data using the LG software and you have all your apps and settings restored.
The only DRM aspect I can see that was affected by unlocking is that you can't install OTA updates, though you can still upgrade in future using zip files from the development section in this G4 thread via TWRP.
Hope that helps.

Vrz htc one m8 - software status modified?
Let me start by apologizing in advance, I have NO idea if this is the right place to post this so if it isn't I'm genuinely sorry! I have no idea what I'm doing to be honest.
All I know is I have a Verizon HTC One M8 that I'm still paying for and want to sell so I can pay it off and cancel the second line on my account and it says Software Status - Modified. I don't know if this means the phone was, or is, rooted - I was under the impression that for some reason you couldn't root Vrz. phones but like I said - no idea what I'm talking about.
I just want to get the phone back to stock as fast and easy as possible so that I can hopefully get rid of it. If anyone could please help me out or point me in the right direction it would be so appreciated.
Again, I'm sorry if I'm posting in the wrong place or if my lack of knowledge is annoying - I just want to get rid of this phone!! Thank you!

The Verizon version M8 does not support unlocking the bootloader by "official" means using HTCDev.com. But folks have been able to root using Kingroot, than s-off using sunshine and then "unofficially" unlock the bootloader.
Software status modified may be a result of Kingroot. But it sounds like you bought the phone new and never tried to root?

On the Verizon version, I'm not sure there is an easy way to remove the "modified" flag. In other words, I think you might need root or some other things like custom recovery, unlocked bootloader, or even s-off.
If you don't want to invest the time and effort, you might just want to sell the phone "as-is" and fully disclose the "software modified" status the potential buyers.

I have no problem investing time or effort, I'd much rather the phone be back to normal so I can hopefully get enough money for it to pay it off. Like I said, only problem is most of this stuff is like reading another language to me. I genuinely know nothing about androids.. I'm pretty computer/iphone savvy but that's kind of the extent of it.

That is correct, RUU will completely re-image the phone to stock.
Thanks for the link. Wow, how did I not know those existing for so long? While I'm not a Verizon owner I'm pretty aware of the RUUs for various versions. I was only aware of the "hacked" RUU here (which requires s-off since its not official): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2727831
RighteousB, the link in the previous post is what you want. Just download the latest RUU, and follow in the instructions in that thread to easily return to full stock.
But in the interest of full disclosure, I recommend you still inform potential buyers the phone was modified at some point, as it has various implications.

I have a Reach through Boost. Nice phone except for storage issues. Currently running 5.1.1. Unlike other Kyoceras it has a developer's option to allow unlocking of bootloader. Does anyone know how to root and if there is a Android 6 rom that can be used with the Reach.
You have to go into developer mode and check OEM Unlock. KingRoot did the trick for me after that.
Is that all? Cuz it didn't change a dang thing for me, bro.

Research
So I'll try researching a way to root this device so I'll back if I find anything
had one a few Christmas ago, got all excited, the phone and the contract, the 3g went out a month or so later... and that was about it for me, these days I'm just using a cheap phone, with insurance or warranty, still takes a few weeks to replace... I'm trying the Blu mtk veiw 1 right now 25 bucks
So long story short I ****ed up. My device is currently in fastboot mode.
To sum everything up: My phone's camera wasn't working so I contacted OnePlus to RMA it and I wanted to factory reset and re-lock the bootloader before sending it back. Before locking the bootloader though I had been in developers options I disabled oem unlocking and adb debugging which was a huge mistake and I realize that probably screwed me over.
Now when I try booting my phone the OP logo shows for a second vibrates and turns off, I can't get into recovery and the same thing happens. I can't flash anything through fastboot because it tells me remote oem unlock disabled and either remote partition flash is denied when attempting to flash.
Please if anyone can help it would greatly be appreciated.

Another who wanted to relock.
Why???
Unlocking doesn't void the warranty !
When will people understand that?
Try the mega unbrick thread / tools, it should be enough, it's low level Qualcomm tools.
If no success call one plus tech service

Yep. This is why I immediately unlock the bootloader the minute I take my Nexus/OnePlus devices out of the box, even if I don't plan on rooting/flashing custom ROMs. Even botched OEM software updates can brick these phones.

i don't think they will, so many people do this, there is absolutely no reason to relock the bootloader on the Oneplus 3 since it does not void warranty and most insurance companies accept this as well, this is not Samsung, HTC, LG, Motorola, or any other "flashship phone".
PEOPLE AGAIN YOU DO NOT HAVE TO RE-LOCK YOUR BOOTLOADER, THERE IS NOT REASON WHATSO EVER TO NEED TO!!!!
To the OP if you plan on returning it, does not matter if u are stuck in fastboot mode, i am sure they won't care since they know how to easily fix it anyway, so just go with ur normal return, if u plan to keep it there are threads on here on how to fix as some posted earlier in the thread
Hello XDA! First post here and I’ve been reading a lot since I got my phone. I seem to have found a solution, (maybe), but I'm not clear on a few vital things.
A little back story… my dad just gave me his Verizon Note 4. It was on Marshmallow, but has since been downgraded to Lollipop 5.1.1, N910VVRU2BPA1. From what I understand it still has the locked MM bootloader (?).
I’m planning to root the phone, but only if I can further downgrade it to Kitkat 4.4.4. I’ve read through the thread “Stabilized process used to unlock Bootloader” and it seems it should unlock the bootloader. However, I’ll end up with a “Developer Edition” phone. This leads to my questions…
1) Once successfully rooted and the bootloader is unlocked, will I be able to downgrade the phone to Kitkat by just flashing the firmware in Odin? I really don’t care if I lose root, I just want Kitkat on the phone.
2) Can I just flash the “retail” version of Kitkat from Sammobile or do I need a “developer edition” Kitkat (if there even is one)?
3) Can someone advise me if what I imagine might be possible is even doable?
Any help is greatly appreciated! I’m new to this so if these are just funky questions, please excuse. Lots to learn! Thanks so much!!!
A little help please!
Someone must know this.
Can I or can't I flash the "retail" Kitkat firmware onto a "supposed" Dev Edition rooted to unlock the bootloader?
I hope someone can clarify this before I do something stupid!
Thanks!

Yes you can, make sure to unlock bootloader first. But when you flash you will loose bootloader unlock. I have a guide where I could use the lollipop bootloader and use kitkat. I really love kitkat and with root you have lots of potential for battery savings and more!

If you would like to downgrade the bootloader add a twrp custom recovery and use the kitkst method I have and you can have the best phone, I also would recommend you buying a zerolemon battery and case.
But if you do just want to have full stock and have all the bloat ware on it you can like you stated unlock the bootloader and then flash the retail kitkat and your all set and downgraded

I don't care to keep root and just want the phone on Kitkat. In the future I may decide to root it and play around with roms and such, but not right now. I can now go ahead and attempt it with confidence. I'll let you know how it goes!
Thanks again! :good:
Well, tried all kinds of stuff and it was a no go.
Was able to get the phone rooted finally... had to use KingOroot. Kingroot failed to work no matter how many versions I tried. Once rooted, checked download mode and it indicated Developer. However, I was unable to install retail KK or KK stock restore in Odin 3.10 and 3.09. Since the flash failed, putting it into recovery ended up in an error about "Software update failed"... use a PC, blah, blah, blah. Wouldn't let me go anywhere in recovery.
Decided to try flashing LP 5.1.1 back to the phone and it flashed ok in Odin 3.09. Phone is back up, but lost root, (expected), and I'm back again at square 1. At least the phone isn't bricked! LOL!
Maybe the problem is that this phone has an MM bootloader so eventhough it's unlocked, you can't flash KK to it? Don't know, but I guess I'm back to trying to find this out.
Good experience so far eventhough this attempt didn't get me anywhere! Well... at least I know how to root it and unlock the bootloader!
I've been trying to unlock the bootloader of Realme X2, the CN version but I'm facing a problem.
The Problem is that whenever I try to install the bootloader unlocking app (In Depth Test), a message appears (see the attachment) saying "An app with the same signature has already been installed" although I've not installed it yet, and I can't find it anywhere on my phone assuming that it's pre-installed.
what should I do to install the app?
or is there any other method to unlock the bootloader that avoids installing the app as long as I can't install it?
N.B: a photo of the message is attached.
{Mod edit: Quoted post deleted}
Thanks for the advice.
I only want to unlock the bootloader to change the launcher because it's so annoying and I can't get used to it.
is there a way to do it? because I tried to uninstall it using adb uninstall command and it's not working.

Not at all!
I made it about 5 times without any problems. The reason for bricking is non-stock contents of the partitions. Follow closely the Back to stock ROM howto guide to avoid this.
