can't wipe/data factory reset or dalvik cache.. - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

can i ask ya'll a simple life saving question !?
i'm unable to wipe data/factory reset.. even dalvik cache.. phone restarts into recovery or just hangs at Samsung logo upon trying to recover from Nand backup where it just fails at the point of either kernel or data wipe to further go ahead and rewrite them from the backup itself.. could be partition error maybe!?
well i'm able to mount data, but then again fail to format, it just restarts the whole recovery again..
hence, i can't do any ROM flashing, nothing whatsoever.. any inputs!?
using Odin maybe i should just install the stock firmware .tar file n then try factory reset !? it would wipe internal SD i'm sure and maybe that works..
Help me out in this brethren plz, any inputs!? my phone's almost rendered useless..
i was using my fav DN4 ROM.. when i tried to replace my phone battery, it just got stuck on Samsung logo..

unable to mount data
I got same problem
in twrp I got unable to mount data
my battery get problem
then my note 02 getting stuck
I was using eclipse
what should i do

stuck at orange triangle.

I wiped /cache, /system, and dalvik and data. Then i tried selecting a zip file from my sd card but I was not able to do so. So i decided to power off the phone and enter recovery again but now I am stuck at the samsung galaxy triangle screen! what can i do to get out of this? This happened when I tried going from starburst 1.6 to viperROM v2.
Hey I had this same problem this afternoon and got it back to normal.
First I did a system restore following these steps,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1282420&highlight=Eg30
Then with odin rerooted with zedomax's kernel
http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/Epic4GTouch/kernel/ZedomaxEpicTouchKernel//SPH-D710_Zedomax_EpicTouchKernel-v3.tar
And then flashed the new ROM following the format system, wipe everything, install zip method.
Hope this helps

Boot into CWM and reflash the starburst rom. wipe cache, wipe dalvik caches and format system under mounts and storage.
When this problem happened to me, my phone couldn't mount the internal storage device or the sd card so it wouldn't do even a normal boot, in CWM it couldn't find any ROMs to install, and I would get error messages when trying to wipe data etc. Then after a few reboots and battery pulls it was stuck at the yellow triangle screen. Download mode was the only thing it would boot into so I was forced to follow the steps described above.

Do you know if you have the updated radio (v1.00.00.0928)? If so, then you need to know that there are only a select few ROMs and kernels that will work with the updated radio. If you also have the updated hboot (v1.57, I believe), then you're kinda stuck (like me). If it's older than that, then you can try to do the RUU process to revert back to the old radio.
Good luck!

This problem generally comes due to mismatch of kernel(boot.img or bootloader) and ROM. Check weather you are using correct kernel image or not.
U said u are wiping everything that's fine. But are you flashing a boot.img before installing custom ROM.??

[Q] Stuck on boot loop

So, my phone just suddenly crashed and rebooted, and got stuck in a boot loop, just showing the Google screen over and over.
I can boot into recovery just fine but I tried clearing the caches and data, and tried a factory reset, but I still have the problem.
For some reason the sdcard won't mount inside recovery, so I can't just flash a new rom either.
Ideas?
after wiping data, system cant mount to data partiton.
1. using nexus root toolkit..
2. push folder( nandroid backup- if any)
3. put the correct path. ( /data/media/0/TWRP/backups/...../folder_name
4. can found this path on recovery folder log
5. restore recovery..
if still got issue.. make another fake nandroid restore to sd.. this time, usually system can mount sd data
sorry for my bad english

CM11 Help

just installed CM11 on my galaxy s3 that had no OS on it. its in the boot up screen and it is just staying where the alien head is being circled by the arrow. any help?
i used CM11 m11 snapshot and am using philz touch recovery
Boot into recovery and use Philz to format cache, data, and advanced settings to wipe Dalvik. Then reboot.
After installing CM11, you will not have other apps such as the Play Store, email, etc.
You need to download and install Gapps in Philz. http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Google_Apps#Downloads
i got error mounting /data
Boot into Philz, format system, data, cache, Dalvik. Re-install, then, wipe data and cache again, reboot.
Did you ever encrypt your phone?
i dont think i ever did that.
What is the baseband on your phone? It can be found under Settings, About.
i cant even get into my phone.
So it just gets stuck at the CM11 boot animation?
yeah its just stuck spinning around
Did you try using the Wipre Data/Factory Reset option?
i think so, ill try that
If that doesn't work, try installing CM10.2 for the d2lte.
ive been getting error mounting /data and error mounting /storage /sd card1/ .android_secure
sdcard1 is your external card. Try removing the card and then formatting data.
says the same thing now but without the 1
wish my name was audit13 (or even audit00).
you work it !
err on the side of kindness
What was the last stock ROM you had on your phone?
Boot into download mode and let me know what it says on the screen. Let's try to figure out which bootloader is on your phone.
