[Q] Best ROM for battery life? - Galaxy S 4 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hallo,
I'm using CM 12.1 latest build with F4k kernel. But I have problem with quick drain battery. I have 60% battery after 6h, while the screen is off, 3g connection is enabled, sync and GPS turned off.
Could you tell me, which ROM and kernel is the best for battery?
Regards,
uspy

I also have CM12.1 and f4k kernel, my battery life is good, try to change the cpu governor

[Q] calls dran battery?

I'm on miui with manu 2.0 kernel at the moment, and if i do a normal call the battery drains very quickly ( 1% per minute).
is there another rom or kernel which cosumes less battery or is ist normal?
I doubt stock rom consumes that much....
anyone share his/her experience?
no 1 an idea?
If you're S-OFF you can try a different Radio/RIL combination. You might see some improvements there, otherwise you could try a different ROM altogether and check the battery drainage on those.

[Q]Completely wipe phone

Hey, I'm trying to fix my battery drain during light use. Having screen on for not even 5 minutes eats around 2% of my battery. I've calibrated, gone through many different ROMs [GB(CM7,MIUI,Sense) and ICS] with full wipes(format and wipe). leading to my question in hand... how do I completely wipe my phone? I visit the wifi settings and see a wifi history that were from a pretty long time ago(before wipes). This leaves me thinking I have not fully wiped my phone in between flashing. Does the google account save wifi history or something? Thanks for any tips!
My problem still persists any help is appreciated

You seem to be wiping your phone correctly. The WiFi settings are backed up under the Google account and are restored when you add the account again. It also backs up other settings, wallpaper, and app data of certain apps. Here's an easy way to fully wipe your phone (including the SD card app files in .android_secure) - http://tinyurl.com/66fc8og
It's called super wipe script and it is from the Android Revolution HD ROM thread, thanks to mike1986.
Sometimes the battery loses it's ability to hold charge after sometime. This happens when the battery is quite old or due to various reasons that I don't know. You'll need to get a new battery then.
On the ROM side, a good ROM+kernel combo gives the best battery life. Instead of using a plethora of apps to save battery, finding the right ROM & kernel combo and choosing a good CPU governor and min-max frequency settings will give you much less battery drain. I don't use any battery saving apps, but I run a great ROM (CM7.2 RC1) with an awesome kernel (LorDModUE 8.9b7), with smartassv2 governor running 122-1152 Mhz and a few build.prop tweaks.
You can try out my combo and see if you're getting any better battery life. The max I've gotten recently is 14 hours of heavy use with 4 hours of screen on time, wifi on for 75% of the time and a lot of web browsing and video watching. I usually keep my phone in 2G mode and only change to 3G when I need to use the internet. 3G drains the battery really fast. On average I get around 13 hours heavy use, 1 day medium use and more than a day of light use (with mobile data off unless when necessary). I get around 1% per hour drain in standby.
You can try this ROM VictoryMod by victoryo. It has my same ROM+kernel combo I've mentioned before + build.prop tweaks. Change the CPU governor to smartassv2 with 122-1152 Mhz frequency. It gives great battery life.
Among the Sense ROMs, Android Revolution HD with klquicksall's kernel and LeeDrOiD HD with LeeDrOiD's kernel give awesome battery life.
Thanks for the reply! I greatly appreciate it. As for my ROM, I've been using the latest LeeDroid, but the battery drain seems to be happening across all the ROMs I've tried recently. I never install battery saving apps, and I keep default kernels and settings. The problem is probably with my battery, I've had this phone since last May, so almost a year. I'll see if I can get this problem sorted out. Thanks again!

[WTF] Custom kernel battery drain, why?

Hi everyone,
from 1 month ago i notice very low battery life, my phone is 0% at the afternoon, i always use AK series with Paranoid ( switch sometimes to AOKP,CM and Stock ), Full disk encryption, this is normal, somebody had this problem from 4.2.2, but the strange thing is, this battery drain is high only when using custom kernel ( tried franco, Ak, and Lean), with other kernel i don't have this problem, yesterday i tried with full rom reflash without any custom kernel my battery life. i come back to home at 22:00 ( 10:00PM ) with 20% , same usage like always.
Use always 3G data on, with 50% time on wireless, all sync on , google now off, Apps timeout sync set to 1 hour
I investigate about this thing, i notice for first thing this: custom kernel is too aggressive, new interactive designed for 3.4 series is too aggressive, switch to MAX without any need ( 10-20% load ), but i don't know why battery life is so low anyway...
Franco kernel is more horrible for me, battery went down like 1%/4min ( with some sms and whatsapp )
lean seems more neutral here, but always high battery drain
Here the are some stats from this day testing ( from 100% to 0% ) (*All kernel using stock kernel configuration )
1) Stock kernel
16.44 Hours on battery
02.57 Hours on screen on
2) Ak Kernel
14.08 Hours on battery
01.44 Hours on screen on
3) Franco kernel
07.49 Hours on battery
02.03 Hours on screen on
4) Lean Kernel
18.31 Hours on battery
2.11 Hours on screen on
Anyone else has noticed this strange issue? on custom kernel i always noticed overheating too, this is very strange!
Try ondemandplus, I've had no problems with that.
Unless you just have to have facebook provide notifications on stuff disable the facebook notifications. I did that on my GNex and saw an increase of several hours to my battery life with more screen on time. I've also noticed for some reason that texting seems to drain my battery really quickly and can't seem to find a reason for this.
I know this, disabled notification stuff from day1, but the strange thing is stock kernel has no problem ,46 % with 2 hours battery on stock
Send from Galaxy Nexus with Tapatalk 2
Here is mine today. I'm running stock with Franco Kernel. Everything is syncing except for facebook. I also have about 1:30 hr's of phone calls today.

[Q] PrimoU: Battery drain if not on airplane mode

Hi guys
I recently started to get interested in modding my phone, so i unlocked the bootloader, rooted it and installed a custom rom.
While the usage of the rom the last days i noticied a huge battery drain, if i connect with cellular.
On airplane mode the battery life is great, but when surfing the web on 3g, i'll lose about 10 percent battery in 2-3 minutes.
I'm using Hellboy kernel 201211160001. Unfortunately I forgot which Rom exactly i flashed. "About the phone" tells me im Using Android 4.1.2 based on CM10.
What should i do to get a better battery life? Flashing a more modern kernel brought me into bootloops...
Thanks for your help!

[4.4.2] Kernel to fix battery drain.

Hi all
Updating to KitKat my s4 Mini i got a terrible battery drain, my phone becomes hot and draining fastly with connection data on.
I switch to the S5 Proyect Rom, with BrisK kernel, and the problem is partially solved, but sometimes the phone becomes really hot and loose a lot of battery percent.
I can use another kernel on my rom (i've never flash a kernel, i suppose to making this flashing it on Odin, right?) to fix the battery drain?
--
just use App Opp, Wakelock Detector, BetterBattery Stats... it's not made by an app this battery drain, i think is related to the network management
Try another rom, like Cm12 lollipop and f4k pre4 kernel
