Is there a way to tell if your phone is currently on the HD voice network? Is there a setting in a menu? I've checked the box that says enhanced services. Thanks!
Lol. Curious too. Didn't know there is such a thing.

Yes. If you make a call phone will not drop to 4G from 4G LTE

did you configure your apn for your network?
You can connect with wifi? Try to connect with wifi, if it cant connect, you can contact support center, if it can connect, you go to setting, wireless and network, choose mobile network and config, choose a 'enable network'

I have been using Talkatone for it, but recently, I was wondering about the the native option.
I do have the TMO S3, with the wifi option enabled in my rom. I have my Google Talk and Voice both set up correctly. But when I use the phone icon to make a call, my minutes decrease. I thought by using wifi, like I do with Talkatone, I wouldn't use my contract minutes.

It uses minutes unless you select the free option on the T-Mobile website.

Depends on your plan. Prepaid will get minutes deducted. Old contract plans get free minutes. Not too sure about value plan as I have never had it.

Log in to their website. On the black bar (not the one at the very top of the window, but the next one down (bigger one), select Plans and Services > Change Services. The option is called Free Wi-Fi Calling under the Extra Minutes section.

Howdy,
I just switched to T-Mobile today with a new G3 and ported over from Verizon.
I am having a problem getting the visual voicemail to work. when I try to use it, I get a unable to communicate with server error. This was happening on my wife's LG G3 too, I setup my regular voicemail just fine.
Anyone else having this problem? Or do you think it could be something to do with the porting process (everything seems to have ported fine)
Or any other suggestions (besides resetting my phone, I will try that last, but would like to not have to set up everything again)
Thanks!
Use Google voice way better

How are you using google voice? On my handset, I have it all set up as I should, but the "Voicemail Provider" option within call settings is greyed out, I cannot change that to google voice.

Keyword there is "showing."
It's Google Voice. Call your phone from a different phone to confirm and you should hear your Google Voice greeting.

You can also call T-Mobile and have them do the following:
--Disable Voicemail on your line
--Setup the forwarding number to be your Google Voice number
You can also setup the forwarding yourself the be the Google Voice number. After doing this, even if I don't install GV after a flash, the calls still go to GV voicemail and whatnot.
My girlfriend just got the s4 from her mom, it's originally a Verizon phone but it's unlocked. She put in her t mobile sim and everything else works fine, calling, receiving calls, receiving text, Internet. But as soon as she tries to send out a text, it fails everytime instantly. She tried calling t mobile and visiting the store but they were no help. Anyone know how to fix this?

This happened to me when I first used a Sprint Galaxy S4 and then took it to MetroPCS. I had to enter the APN info for T-Mobile and then set the APN as active. go to settings, more networks, mobile networks, access point names and create your new APN by tapping the PLUS sign. Save by tapping the bottom left hand button.

Did the Verizon phone save your APN? I know for a fact that SPRINT phones are stuffed full of proprietary references to Sprint servers.

I'm pretty sure it did, I'll try it again. Even the t mobile employees tried the same while at the store.

Is your phone rooted? If so, I would try Titanium Backup and try freezing an app called VZWSetup. I did something similar on my wife's S3 and it worked well for using the phone with other carriers.........

Along with the APN, make sure the Message Center number is the correct one for T-Mobile: +12063130004
This should be in the Messaging app under Settings.

I am glad the last responder brought this up. Sometimes you will see proprietary Verizon and Sprint APPS that will not allow you to change the Voicemail either. If there is a Verizon Voicemail program I would freeze it too. As far as rooting your phone? No big deal.
i have samsung galaxy note 4 and the voicemail app is full of random trash ads.
i was expecting this to be samsung/android officially supported apps with no ads but this looks like some trash bloatware
Yes it is. Pretty stupid. You can try and disable them in the preferences in the voicemail app settings.
If you go to your sprint profile and opt out of the ads, they will never show up again.

You can login to the Sprint site and kind of change it. Didn't exactly say it'll turn them off. Going into the voicemail app settings worked for me.

Disabling ads means you can't have features like forward to email. That sucks.

True, but I personally don't need the fowarding. But I'd rather pay for the premium than get the ads anyway
