[Q] Wifi hardware failure? - Galaxy Tab 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I have a galaxy tab 3 that I have just factory reset twice (running stock) and the wifi seems to have failed. In settings the button is stuck and it says 'turning on' but its stuck. If I press the button repeatedly, sometimes the wifi appears to turn on and even find networks, but it fails to connect to any of them. It responds with 'failed to connect'. Is there any potential fix or anything that can be done at all?
Many thanks

Wifi is embedded on the main board. Nothing you can do other than replace a new one. I found one sold on Ebay, around $85. Tab 3 has different screen sizes: 10.1, 8.0, and 7.0.
I guess your is 5210 10.1 screen

This is just one seller, you can search for others , may be cheaper. Other option, look for broken screen tablet. Buy one just for mainboard and keep other spare parts.
I bought one GT-5210 which cannot charge( broken USB port ) just for $70.

[Q] Strange problem: Suddenly bottom of the screen starts to be tapped repeatedly

Hi,
I got my Galaxy Nexsus today in Asia from a shop.
I start to play with it and from time to time suddenly it without my help bottom of the screens gets tapped repeatedly! pressing home, back and apps list buttons again and again.
I was wondering if anyone else have the same problems and if the best guess is to be a hardware problem (I will be screwed as I bought it from a shop! ) or a software bug (I can wait for an update as mine if 4.0.2).
Cheers,

No problem here.
Try to remove the battery first. Wait one minute.
If it does not work, try to reset the phone (All apps/settings/backup&reset/factory data reset). You will lose everything!
If the problem persists, maybe it is a hardware problem.
Only if Pointer Location is on?
Thanks tigajr,
Can someone enable the "Pointer Location" option from "Developer Options" and play with phone and see if it happens?
I think when it is off from the start of phone everything is fine. But when I enable this feature after a while bottom of the screen gets tapped repeatedly.

reboots and corrupt display -intermittent

Ok, just want to know if anyone has any experience with any of these tabs exhibiting this behavior. I bought my wife a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 (SM-T310) WiFi only. Soon as I got it I updated it to the latest factory version (4.4.2 I believe). Then when rebooting I noticed it would just keep going through the initial boot logo, black, and then the boot logo again. So I presed the power button 10 seconds then it booted fine. When using the unit sometimes it would randomly reboot. SEEMS like when turning the unit back on from sleep mode often. I did a factory reset on it via the settings the first time, but same problem. I did a second factory reset this time via the recovery menu, first wiping the cache partition then factory reset. I THOUGHT I figured it out that it was just the power button getting stuck because I was able to reproduce that behavior if I held in the power button when I though I just pressed it briefly normally. So I thought OK, this is ok I don't have to send it in for repair because it's just that the power button gets stuck sometimes. But then another issue appears. The display will get all lines in it without being able to read ANYTHING at all. Like there's a problem with the LVDS connection to it. I bought this from Newegg refurbished, but kept it away for over 30 days and gave it to my wife on her birthday. Now I'm going to try to send it in for repair/exchange via the 90 day refurbished product company support to some other company (http://www.consumerservicerefurbish.com/) but I was just wondering if anyone could chime in. I search here and google but couldn't find any mention of a corrupt display issue like the one that popped up last night. Really weird.
Mine from NewEgg works great. Definitely send it back. It has a hardware issue.

Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition not booting up/ firmware issue

i have this awesome tablet for a good time. it's the wifi edition with 16gb black. this week i noticed when the tablet goes on rest mode, the screen turns dark (as usual) but when i want to us the tablet, the screen remains dark. i could hear the notification. i had to restart the device and quickly start using the tablet before the screen goes dark again. i noticed the message on the screen stating "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. please select recovery mode in kies and try again." i connected my tablet to my laptop and no success. i called samsung and they told me to press the vol+, power button & home key for 40 secs and nothing happened.
i am turning to the great forum to ask for help. all my stuffed are on the tablet memory. at this point i don't care about it as long as someone can help me bring my awesome tablet back to life. i never rooted it at all.
please, help me.
I'm not the most knowledgeable when it comes to this kind of thing, but I do know that on the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition booting into recovery is slightly different than it is on most other Samsung devices. Where most Samsung's are power button + volume up + home key (like Samsung rep said), with the Note 10.1 2014 edition it's just the first two, power + volume up. Here is a link that will describe step by step how to do it as getting the timing right can be a little bit tricky if you have not done it before. http://mobileaddons.blogspot.com/2014/05/how-to-hard-reset-factory-reset-samsung_9205.html There is probably the same instructions here on xda somewhere if you do a search... I just googled it and that is what it gave me. If you need end up having to boot it in download mode, thats the power and volume down keys, just push and hold both (if I remember correctly). It sounds like it may have attempted to update to lollipop but the update failed for whatever reason, but I could be wrong. What exactly did the Samsung rep tell you to do? a hard reset/factory reset (which will wipe all your stuff), or did they say to attempt the update via kies? Just curious
hi thebadwrench, i followed and tried the instructions you shared and my tablet does not respond at all it stays dark and does not even respond when i plug the charger in. there are no feedback or sounds at all. i do not know what else to do.
Hmmmm. You may have a hardware failure if it is not responding to anything at all. I know others have experienced problems with the screen flickering and/or quit working as result of a loose or disconnected electrical connection internally. It might be worth removing the rear cover of your tablet to look for something like that. I don't know how comfortable you'd be with that, but it's actually pretty easy to do. I recently replaced both the battery and charging port on mine and posted some pictures in this thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-10-2014/help/q-instructions-tips-replacing-usb-t3345093 I'd just disconnect both ribbon cables and reconnect them. While your in there (and this has worked for some people) simply unplugging the battery for a few minutes then reconnect it. Kinda resets the tablet (you shouldnt lose anything saved on tablet, assuming your able to revive it). If your not comfortable with digging into your tablet, take it to a phone/electronics repair place and for a fee they could do it for you, or better yet they may be able to diagnose the problem definitively. Other than that, I'm out of ideas. Sorry to hear that your having issues, let us know what happens
I followed the steps and my screen is back on but it is stuck in recovery mode. It shows the green Android guy and says downloading but nothing for the last 10 minutes. What do I do?
Good to hear you got your screen back on. As for it being stuck in recovery mode... just to clarify, what exactly did you do to get it to the screen its on now (i. e. did you just attempt to power it on, or pwr + vol. up buttons, etc). It might be best to just send me a personal message...
How do I send you a personal message?
Just click on my username, then click "send message"

Nexus 5x got bricked -- any solutions?

upgraded to android 7.0 few days back and was running smoothly.
while browsing internet (and safe sites) it got hanged. i switched it off for a reboot and it is not turning ON.
tried the below attempts to turn it ON,
1. press the power button for 7~10 seconds
2. while charging tried to turn ON.
3. pressed power+volume down button
however, when i connect this to my laptop, laptop senses it and make a USB device connection sound. but nexus screen is not turning on or no vibration or any responses.
any solution for this ?
Google confirmed this is a hardware/firmware issue...happened to our 2 phones. Only option appears to be sending it in for warranty replacement.

Please help! Samsung Tab S 8.4 won't turn on or charge (black screen)

Hi all,
I've been following XDA forum for few years now, but not posted very often, as I always tried to find solutions here and there and fix things myself with gained knowledge.
Here I've got serious problem. As mentioned above - I looked everywhere, tried different methods and solutions and even went above and beyond. Below quick explanation.
So I bought faulty Tab S 8.4 from eBay. Before I purchased it I messaged the seller asking about the faults/reasons why the tablet doesn't turn on (asked if it was dropped, water damaged etc).
In his listing he stated that (from original listing) "The tablet in excellen condition, but after upgrade the Android operation system, does'nt like to turn on. No reaction on screen. I think it still work, just need to fix it."
He stated that he was the first owner. I asked him in one of my messages if he attempted to repair it - he said he didn't. So I thought - easy fix, bargain.
Probably hard reset/recovery mode/battery removal/disconnecting ribbon connectors will do the job.
First I plugged it to charger (genuine Samsung charger) - nothing on screen. Left it for nearly an hour - nothing.
I removed the back cover and hey - the sticker on battery was ripped, which means that he actually TRIED to repair it, so mislead me in his answers.
Tried to power it on - pressed power button for few seconds and heard short (maybe 2 seconds) Samsung intro sound - then after just those 2 seconds it cut off and didn't turn on (screen still black).
So I tried Power + Vol Up, Power + Vol Down, Home + Vol Up + Power, Home + Vol Down + Power - nothing.
Tried tricking it by connecting to my PC - Windows recognized device but could't install drivers (my other Samsung devices connect without any problems). That didn't work as well.
What I also did is I opened my other Tab S 8.4 and swapped batteries (the other one works perfectly) - still nothing.
Have you got any ideas what might be wrong with it?
I think I've done everything possible in attempt to fix it, but nothing works.
I think it's a hardware issue and in any way not caused by firmware update.
Any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks guys.
What does windows recognise the device as?
