hi everybody,i just bought a z1 compact and allow me some questions cause i m a little confused
1what is the best way to root it and stay with unlock bootloader?
2how can i install custom recovery?
thanks in advance.
Well first of on what firmware are you on? From what I know only v108 KK can be rooted without unlocking bootloader. As for custom recovery look for Nut's recovery for z1c here http://nut.xperia-files.com/

It will probably be on KitKat version. You can follow the guide from here to root KitKat and maintain root on Lollipop.
or use pc companion and update os. After root and install recovery new releases.

Youre on Xperia Ion, rom 6.1.E.3.7 rite? If bootloader unlocked, just flashing the GI Kernel should work...
Have you tapped the sony logo during boot ?? Tap it as much as you can and see what happens...
Btw how do you flash it? Flashtool ?

Aha Bin4ry tool , i am using it for along time but it can't root this new version.
Now i am using a pre rooted rom , but i will still like to know how to root the stock one.
If the stock GI kernel dont work for you...Try the OC kernel with root...Just try it as it will give root permission or not...
Or maybe you can try deodexed stock rom rooted....If still dont work, then just wait for the dev to make new way to gain root

did you get your pre-rooted stock rom from this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2055043 ?
if not would you please guide me to where you got it from ? is it working well and fast for you ?
a side question ... before you get a rooted rom did you face any problems with connecting to Wifi-networks while having middle eastern sim inserted?
thank you in advance .

If none of the previous methods are working, then the best would be to wait for the kernel sources. The system write protection can be easily disabled while building the kernel from source.

a lot better ram management
but u wont notice it if you flash the old kernel
so either stay back on the old update or enjoy new update with new kernel
no need to erase anything

Thank you for your work. I am currently on lolipop stock firmware. I lost my root due to update. Is there anyway to root my lollipop without going back to kitkat ?
I am very eager to try Your ROM but I dont have root and recovery.
Any method dealing with small size files would be fine. I have 512kbps connection
Thank you in advance

2 options for you...
1 Go back to kitkat root the phone install recovery.. And than reboot.. After that install pre PRE ROOTED lollipop.
2 Unlock the bootloader Than reboot.. Flash Trinity or Rockz kernel.. Than you have recovery and flash pre rooted lollipop zip....
In option 2 you wont loose data.. Provided if you have unlocked bootloader earlier and than relocked....
Thank You !!!

Thank you so much. :good: I love option 2.
I did this before your reply.....
Gone back to Jelly bean. Rooted and installed recovery. Haven't unlocked the bootloader. And flashed the Pre rooted lollipop using recovery.
And working fine.
so now the prerequisites for this ROM will only be recovery and root. Not KitKat root.
Will download the updated ROM which is going to be released on Tuesday
Can you upload the files to google drive please Downloading for past 6 hours from mega and now it failed :crying: :crying:
I can resume the download on Google Drive with IDM . A humble request
No problems at all!
Amazing stock Rom. No fc. Flashed from stock kitkat. Everything working fine. It would be great if there were cool mods built in.
Patiently waiting for C6903 version..!

Thx for reply!
You can flash in fastboot, kernel with dualrecovery and root.

Small OT: some news about kernel?
Hey,
I am sure you get a lot of these posts. I have searched the forums and can't find the straight forward noob answer I require..
I have managed to unlock my bootloader on my D5503 / 14.6.A.0.368 Android version 5.1.1
I have tried to follow these instruction found Herebut I am confused.
Download and install the latest Flashtool
Run XperiFirm (comes pre-bundled with the Flashtool) to download the latest FW.
Download [UB ONLY] [kernel] Root, init.d support, Recovery & Busybox for 14.6.A.0.368
Click to collapse
I know I need to use flash tool but it also says I have to use XperiFirm to DL the latest firmware. I am Australian if that helps..
Could someone please explain what exactly I need to do to root my phone.
Thanks

.368 is not the latest anymore. If you have Flashtool, open it, and click on the 'XF' logo at the top to open Xperifirm then find firmware and download and flash. You don't have to use Flashrool with unlocked BL. You could install recovery and flash a prf instead, or use a custom rom.

Exactly what do you need? Root?
Well tellme:
1) is your device's bootloader unlocked?
2) Do you have a custom kernel or the stock one? Which one?
I'll help you if you answer the 2 questions. Greetings
