putting the software for ubnlocked fire phone on att version - Amazon Fire Phone

has anyone had any sucess on installing the unlocked software on the at&t version if it too is unlocked? or are there hardware differences that make this not possible

is there software to unlock fire phone?
best regards,

I ran the unlocked version on my ATT version without any issues. Only difference is the unlocked version doesn't install the MyATT app.

Unlocked Updates but AT&T?

I'm looking for an unlocked Note II and have found one for a reasonable price but it's an AT&T version although it is indeed unlocked. Will I get updates at the same time as the international version or would I have to wait for an AT&T update?
Also, is it possible to flash/sideload the 4.2 camera apk without rooting?

You'll get the updates when the ATT version gets the update. The upgrade really goes by Model number and then region. Your model number is still SGH-I317.
Being unlocked just enable you to use a non-att sim card
Correct if it's just unlocked, you should have no problem getting updates.
If it's unlocked and a good deal, I assume you getting it from a private seller. Just be careful not to buy a stolen phone, they will block it by IMEI.
Just get one that is locked and unlock it yourself. Don't pay extra for one that's unlocked. There is a thread here on xda that shows you how to unlock the GN2 jus by entering a few codes.

Yes, you can flash 4.2 camera with no problems. I did.

If I did get the SGH ATT model, could I flash the N7100 stock image to it without rooting? If so, how would I do it?
And someone said the 4.2 camera can be flashed without root. How is this done?
You need to do some searching and reading, all the information you need can be found here on XDA.
But before you get in to trouble flashing I will tell you that you should not flash a ROM that is not made for you model (SGH_i317). If you have an AT&T phone only flash ROMs from the AT&T development section.

[Q] How to unlock SGH-i747m

How do I unlock the phone? I currently have Cm11 on it.
I want to ditch rogers (terrible service) so what do I need to do to unlock it?
side note, when I got the phone it was via future-shop warranty and they gave me a fido version and put my rogers sim in it, did they unlock it then?

Since Fido is really owned by Rogers, your Rogers SIM may work in the phone if it was originally locked to Fido. To check whether it's unlocked or not, try putting in a non-compatible SIM (like Bell or Telus) and see whether it prompts you for an unlock code. If it does, you would need to purchase a code online or request one from the carrier. If it wasn't on Android 4.3 prior to the CM11 installation, you may be able to install stock Android 4.1.1 and free unlock. Either way, whether you are free unlocking or using an unlock code, you have to be on a stock ROM for it work. You can check your phone's settings and see what baseband and bootloader versions you have. This will tell us know whether you should flash stock 4.1.1 or 4.3

I747MVLUEMK5 is ver. 4.3 and you almost certainly have the 4.3 bootloader as well. With this, unfortunately, you can't downgrade to 4.1.1 where the free unlock option is available as any attempt to do this could brick your phone. You would need to request an unlock code from the carrier, if eligible, or purchase one online. There have been reports also that the unlock codes don't work when you are on a custom ROM so if you buy one online and it doesn't work, you will have to flash stock 4.3.

ok, which carrier would I have to talk to, it was a fido phone as mentioned previously. Also is their a possibility I could downgrade to 4.1, or is it a guaranteed brick?

You would need to contact Fido since it was originally on their network. I'm afraid nobody has yet posted a method to allow you successfully downgrade to 4.1.1 and still preserve the free unlock functionality. You could follow some instructions posted in this forum to downgrade to 4.1.1. However, this wouldn't allow you downgrade the bootloader/modem which is required for the unlock.

I found a way to downgrade from 4.3 to 4.1.1 or 4.0.4 stock. (for Bell).
I bought and used Mobile Odin (available on the play store). Anyhow, it flashes the stock rom and not the old bootloaders. Once you're on 4.1.1 or 4.0.4 the problem is that *#197328640# no longer works. Basically when you type that ServiceMode comes up, but all the options are gone. I believe this is because they locked those features on the new bootloader (which is still on the phone after the Mobile Odin downgrade...)
Unlocking this phone has become a major pain in the ass.

You are quite right. Sam and the networks are winning this time. You can indeed use Mobile Odin to downgrade the system (ROM). However, there hasn't been any reports of a successful downgrade of the bootloader. Therefore, even if you downgrade without bricking the phone, you can't free unlock. Tough but you will need a carrier unlock code.

Installing GSM Unlocked Firmware on AT&T Fire Phone

Hi,
I bought an AT&T Fire Phone with unlocking code recently on Ebay deals. The unlock code worked perfectly and I am able to use the phone on other GSM networks without any issues
However, I am not from US and so I don't use AT&T services/bloatware etc. After reading some posts online I understand that Amazon also sells the same phone as an unlocked GSM version. So, I want to know if it is possible to flash the Unlocked GSM Version firmware on my AT&T Fire Phone to remove all the AT&T carrier stuff ? If it is possible, can you guide me with the steps?
Also,
1) Will I lose my "Unlocked" status if I flash the Unlocked GSM firmware?
2) Will I get all future OTAs normally if I flash the Unlocked GSM Firmware?
3) Anything else I will lose by changing the default Fire OS Firmware that came with my phone?
My Fire Phone Details -
Memory - 32 GB
Carrier - AT&T (but unlocked with the seller provided code to use it on any GSM provider)
It will be very helpful if someone can help me with these questions
Thank you very much
This info is scattered throughout the forum. They really should post a sticky and keep it updated.
It is safe to go from the AT&T to the Amazon OS. I did it to mine. The hardware is identical, only the software differs slightly. The latest AT&T version is 4.6.4. The latest Amazon version is 4.6.3. Going from one to the other is NOT considered a downgrade. Amazon has two different software paths and did something funky with the version numbers there. They both have the latest stagefright patches. 4.6.3 is currently the preferred version because it works best with Google Play services.
Here are the instructions on how to install 4.6.3:

If you have trouble with the ADB drivers, look on page 2 of that thread.
To answer your questions directly:
Unlocked status should not be affected
You will get future OTA updates through the Amazon software path (no need to worry about future AT&T bloatware)
You lose AT&T bloatware

You're not giving any phone info. You need to know the build, Firmware version, what carrier the phone is tied to..
As I went to T-Mobile and I'm running old 4.0.4 firmware. The article and how to was available online. Did you first try and get a release code from your carrier. Your phone being an S3 may already be unlocked.

Unlocked Z2 Play With Verizon Software Possible?

Could one purchase the unlocked version (xt1710-01) and put the verizon (xt1710-02) software on it once unlocked? Or will the check on ver stop it?
Answered my own question. Yes it can be done. Verizon sees it as a 1710-01 but everything works.
Unlocked versions of phones that have locked Verizon counterparts all just work on Verizon as well.
