Cool gonna pick up one tomorrow return s4,horrible reception bye bye Sammy hello htc!!! Don't let me down!
Don't they use different bands? And one is GSM one is CDMA?
Um... what? Why bother getting the Verizon variant of the One if you're going to be using it on AT&T's network? Yes, it'll work because all of Verizon's new smartphones are unlocked and support GSM, but... why?
Just buy the AT&T variant. Same thing, plus you'll have working FM radio and LTE support on AT&T and T-Mobile if you want it in the future.

TMK, it should work. If memory serves, the Verizon HTC One is just a standard global HTC One with Verizon's customizations. Now, having said that, Verizon has been known to disable\completely remove\block the GSM functionality of global phones in the past when they release a version for their network(Droid Bionic, Droid RAZR, ect..) so it's entirely possible that, while the phone is physically capable of operating outside Verizon's network, that Verizon has blocked it from doing so.

You are correct. Verizon is required to have all global-capable phones unlocked out of the box. This is why the Verizon iPhone 5 was such a magnet for fraud.
I have a Verizon HTC One M8 and I have AT&T. I can get it to pick up service but for the life of me it will not pick up HSPA+ or 3G. So far I have only been able to get it running on Edge which obviously is unacceptable. Verizon phones can be such a pain in the ass. Anyone have any suggestions?

In all fairness you are asking about the HTC one m8 and this is a thread for the m7 so if you wanna try and get a real response you might want to check out the Verizon m8 forums not the m7. This subject has been been brought up before for the m7 and its not possible. The m8 on the other hand once again is a different phone. I know they have had success getting lte and all that working for our phone to T-Mobile.

It wasn't a witty response. Was a real actual question. I see so many threads of people buying Verizon phones and try to make them fully work on gsm networks. Just because it says global phone doesn't mean every part of the phone will work on gsm networks. So that's why I asked is the Verizon version cheaper than its gsm counterparts.

Yes, it works fine with HSPA+. For LTE, it could connect with LTE, but my situation is I can't make phone calls and text messages under LTE. Hope this would help.
The Verizon HTC One will work on any network, I can't speak for bands/speeds.
I'm in New Zealand, I brought my VZW One with me, works like a charm on all of their GSM networks here.
I'm thinking of buying an LG G3, but I wanted to know what the USA unlocked (no carrier) model number is, and I've had trouble finding it. Any help?

Ok you'll probably want to use the T-Mobile variant and get it unlocked. You don't actually want to use an AT&T phone on an AT&T MVNO (like Consumer Cellular), because the intrusive AT&T bloatware doesn't leave you alone, but it's useless on anything other than AT&T itself (AT&T Address Book is particularly vile). T-Mobile's bloat is lower key and tends to go away if you want it to.
The T-Mobile variant (D851) will support HSPA on the frequencies Consumer Cellular uses. It also supports LTE Bands 17, 4, and 2, which Consumer Cellular/AT&T uses. The only problem might be LTE Band 5, which the D851 does NOT support. That's the downside, though thankfully AT&T doesn't seem to be using 850 Mhz for LTE all that much.

The T-Mobile version's bootloader is unlocked, the AT&T one is not. Both have been rooted at this point, but LG's big on not updating rooted devices, so I haven't bothered rooting. I don't know if the G3 will actively block updates on a rooted device like the G2 and OGP did, but it's certainly possible, and I won't get enough from rooting that I actually care about to make me want to try.

The AT&T D850's bootloader is locked. I have one. I'm also a huge fan of Rooting and loading CM11, but the new LG interface isn't bad enough to make me do all that. Unlike the Touch Jizz Crap I had on my S3 with Sprint. I couldn't root that phone and load CM11 fast enough on that device. It's a shame too, the S3 is actually a really nice phone for it's time. The G3 actually runs pretty smoothly and the bloat wares aren't really in my face all the time. The only one I find annoying is that freaking ATT address book crap which will some day force me to root this phone and kill it. Good thing that the Root method is already available for the Verizon and ATT variants of G3.
Some one said you won't be able to find the US unlocked version of the G3, he's right so far. I was on that boat too. I couldn't wait to get my switch to the new G3 and Amazon, Bestbuy, or even freaking going to the phone stores such as ATT or T-Mobile would sell it. I forgot to think of ATT and T-mobile as a service provider instead of a phone store because they obviously only wanted to sell plans and the phones are pretty much accessories of those plans.
Anyways, long story short, I got my unlocked G3 (ATT version) via ebay. Then I used it on Straight Talk. Everything works the way they are suppose to and I am getting ATT LTE speeds too, just at half the price. There are only 2 things that doesn't quite work. One is sending and receiving MMS. The other is visual voicemail. MMS thing, I still have to call straight talk up and deal with their infamous customer service. The visual voicemail thing, I just use youmail and it works ok and an alternative. Some ads here and there, and the interface isn't the best in the world, but at least it works. It's a shame that LG doesn't sell their own unlocked phones via their own website like HTC does.
Hey everyone, as always i like to buy my phones direct from the manufacture if possible. I do this to avoid all the trivial crap like locked bootloaders, bloat etc. Im looking to buy a G4 that is "clean" without the garbage but can also support LTE in USA. Which model should we shoot for? I bought my Galaxy S6 from Samsung (SM-G920i) which i love since its "clean". Im going to be using it on AT&T in the US btw. Thank you.

Good question. I've read that with the G4 international versions, LTE won't work on US GSM carriers, even if the LTE band is available.
But I can't say I've seen a reasonable explanation why.
The one I got from PCMag in their contest was listed in the rules as LG G4 Global Version the model # is LG-H815.
http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=7996&view=1&c=lg_g4_h815_lte-a_lg_p1 lists the frequencies and its a LOT.
For comparison here it is side by side with the T-mobile G3 my wife uses http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=pdacomparer&id1=6272&id2=7996&id3=8045&del_id=8045
I am using mine on T-Mobile with zero issue on 4g.
As for price and availability of this model, its anyone's guess. According to the rules on the contest I entered this phone was valued at $1000 and I had to give PCMag a W9 to claim my prize so they could report the device as income.
It came with very few pre-installed apps from LG.
If anyone has any questions, fire away!

Depending on the area of the US you live the H815 will give you LTE on quite a few bands in the AT&T market. In my area OC, CA band 17 is used for LTE quite a bit and I have a Korean version of the G3 which has no issues getting LTE. I have ordered the H815 which should work fine for me, here is a list of the LTE bands it supports
LTE band 1(2100), 2(1900), 3(1800), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 17(700), 20(800), 28(700)

Hmm...this seems like a good deal since it includes the leather back and has world wide LTE bands. I preordered the dual sim version here in the Philippines but may cancel now and pick this one up instead. More LTE bands and slightly less expensive then my preorder. One perk ordering from LG here is it includes 32gb sd card, second battery and stand alone charger but I can always buy those separately. Most important are the multiple LTE bands since I travel to states twice a year.

That is way I got the 815 so I could go to Europe and still have LTE at home and the phone is unlocked
Hi everyone! I've decided that the G4 is the right phone for me. After using the G3 for 8 months and bouncing back between the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 and the Nexus 6 for the past few months, I've come to the conclusion that 5.5" screen size is perfect for my use and hand size - but I have a few questions before biting the bullet and ordering one.
I'll be switching over to T-Mobile for use here in the states from AT&T. Since I travel quite a bit to Europe, the H815 will cover the frequencies/bands I need to connect to data networks over there. My question is this - will the H815 version that's available to pre order support things like HD voice and WiFi calling? Or is this something that T-Mobile has to implement on to their phones and as a result, I must purchase their version of the phone? The HD voice isn't as important as the WiFi calling, I feel as if that is something worth purchasing the T-Mobile version for.
Cheers!
I believe you need the T-mo version for wifi calling. That's something they integrate into their version of the OS.

Wrightperspective is correct. The H815 has no native Wifi calling ability.

I see you're using the H811 model - that's the T-Mobile specific version, no?
And since I'll need the T-Mobile version, I now need to consider the LTE bands/frequencies of the T-Mobile version to ensure I'll have data whenever I travel to Europe.
Edit: I suppose some more food for thought could go towards ROM's and what not. Is it fair to assume that the H815 model will receive more support from devs since it's the international version and what not? I honestly think I'm okay with no WiFi calling if it means getting an unlocked bootloader quicker/more ROM support from the lovely XDA community.

It is always hard to predict what model will get dev support before it happens. Sometimes a phone with a world version will still get more support on one of the individual carrier versions. As for the frequencies, I did a brief compare based on the published information for the 810, 811, 815 over here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60992462&postcount=30
Hey guys,
I couldn't find a thread here on XDA in regards to this, but I am wondering if my T-Mobile LG G3 that has been unlocked by T-Mobile will work on Verizon....at all? This is not a personal choice, but more like I keep being asked by many in regards to my ad on Craigslist if the phone will work. I have done some research on this and found that the G3's LTE antenna can utilize a few select bands of Verizon's LTE, so data and MMS are my last worry. My main concern is voice and texting. COnsidering those are separate antennae, what should I know in order to inform possible buyers? I obviously do not want to be falsifying information in any way (literally against my morals; I was screwed over twice with smartphones and CL).
Again, what should I know. I seem to be finding myself using gsmarena.com to compare the Verizon G3 and T-Mobile G3 LTE band support.
Any help will amazing so I can get this phone sold! Thanks all!! :good:
According to willmyphonework the LTE will work fine but if they ever go anywhere without LTE, they will not have service at all. The CDMA part of verizon isn't compatible with the GSM edge capabilities of the T-Mobile g3.
