Is there such a thing as a bluetooth remote for windows phones?
I'd like to be able to control my phone's music using a remote when its playing through speakers etc. Just simple skip / pause / volume functionality would be ideal.
Any ideas!?
if the phones bluetooth radiostack support that profile yes
but bluetooth is not that a greatly implemented std in many cases
I'm wanting to have my desire in car for music just as i had an ipod
my particular head unit could display album art and filter by song, artist genre etc
will phones/android ever have this functionality?
i guess for the short term control will only be via bluetooth enabling simple control like skip/next etc
i'm not sure if the usb connection even has enough pins to enable such control of sending song name etc to the head unit and filtering etc?
could this be done over bluetooth?
So this is what I am trying to find out.
I use my SIII in my truck as a media player on long trips hooking it up to my car stereo's line-in input.
What I want to do is to mount a mount/cradle so I can leave the SIII securely mounted/seated somewhere on the dash board and control the music player apps ( Playerpro or the stock music player) through a handheld wireless remote control.
I know the SIII does not have IR receiver so that is out but is there a way to hook up a BT or wifi remote so I can safely control the music playback and navigate up/down folders of music while driving?
Thanks for any ideas you guys might have on this.
I agree it would be useful to have a physical remote with real tactile buttons for use in car, bike or running.
As far as I know, currently the closest option would be a bluetooth remote as there is a bluetooth profile for media control. However, I think it's probably somewhat more limited than what you're looking for. I believe the profile is limited to play/pause, FF, REW, forward skip and back skip. If you're able/willing to setup your playlist in advance so that you're okay with those controls than it should be workable. You won't be able to navigate any menu system.
The other issue is I'm not aware (but you could always try to google for it) of any standalone bluetooth remote. Every one I've ever seen are integrated into some other device. I have remote functions on my bluetooth headphones and my car has an integrated bluetooth sound system and can remote control playback through the dash and steering wheel controls.
If that would work for you, you could consider replacing your stereo deck with one that has bluetooth integrated then you'll be able to control playback through the deck's controls. You'll probably need to stream the audio over bluetooth as well for that to work.
Thanks for the BT suggestion. I will look into it and see if there is anything out there that will work. If I can get a BT solution working without too much cost/effort, I will gladly make a bunch of playlists if that is all that can be controlled by the BT media control profile.
The reason I 'need' to use my S3 in my car is that in my truck (2005 Chevy Avalanche) unlike the current model GM trucks, has no provision for any type of AUX input except for the one I rigged up intercepting the XM module's analog audio output. It is getting to the point that I am really tempted to just replace the head unit with one that will take an USB flash drive and all my problems will be solved.
Thanks again for taking the time to post a reply. :good:

I have 7 speakers in my car. I noticed the radio will play over all speakers, but apps like Spotify will not. (only using the front). Are there any software options that don't involve hardware modifications?
Noticed on my unit that if you have FM/AM active you will only get in front speakers. so open up Bluetooth and then launch spotify and you should get it all around
Am back to having an android phone (rooted Z3 compact) after many years of iphones through work. Am having a shortcoming with bluetooth which is very frustrating. My cars hands free is ford sync from 2009. It does not allow you to launch an assistant on the phone with any media button. You can only use this syncs internal assistant.
On the iphone I could hold the home button to launch siri who would trigger the bluetooth and interupt whatever was playing to prompt me and listen to me using the vehicle mic. It seems that with android to hear these promps from google now or any other assistants that I have to switch my stereos source to bluetooth streaming mode which is annoying as I prefer to listen to music off a usb drive not my phone.
Is there any work arounds or apps that will route these assistant prompts through the hands free like siri does? It's like a virtual phone call siri uses to trigger the handsfree. Ive been searching like crazy for the last week and have tried so many assistants and other tools already with no success in replacing siri.
Thanks kindly for any guidance!
Ive tried audioBT but unfortunately doesn't seem to work well with my phone and only works occasionally right after connecting to car. Does anyone know any similar apps I should try or any assistant apps that will make the fake call to the handsfree so it's voice prompts play over car speakers?
Im using one of the mono audio apps but its all or nothing with it. and not so handsfree to control it.
