Touchscreen becomes unresponsive when charging? - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
I recently ot my G4. Happy with it, other than some lag spikes (?) and the battery life. However, there has been one issue that has been bothering me tremendously. My touch screen becomes not as responsive once it's charging. It's so weird because once I take it off the charger, it goes back to normal. Anyone else having this issue?
Thank you.

Why doesnt someone share the updated keyboard apk ?

Is it because of the keyboard that causes the screen to become unresponsive? Or are you saying that its just the keyboard that's unresponsive? Because the whole touch screen becomes unresponsive for me.

This thread is about something similar, it may be worth a read:

The keyboard update seems to be solve those issues yes

I also had this problem. Wasn't even using LG keyboard. Anyway after a few days, my device got into an unrecoverable bootloop for no reason. Don't know if these two are inter-related, but mentioned coz I never felt any other problem in my device other than that.

Note 2 randomly turning off (not rebooting)

Hey guys
I am having an issue lately. My phone seems to be turning off randomly. It happens in my pocket most of the time, but one time i just left it on my desk, and a couple of hours later the phone was off for no reason.
Is this a common problem? I cannot bring this phone back, because I have bought it from someone else, and not from a shop.
Can it be linked to the power button? From my understanding is that the phone reboots itself instead of turning off when you hold the power button for a couple of seconds.
Thanks in advance.

I hope it is not a symptom of a dying Note 2 because of the SDS (Sudden Death Syndrome).
Try updating to the latest firmware immediately and hope it sorts the problem.
What kernel are you running? Redpill kernel had/has some SOD issues where the phone won't wake up and needs to be turned off by holding the power button down, it may be something similar.

I'm not rooted, just running STOCK 4.1 Touchwiz. I ran eMMC check and it seems that I'm affected by the bug. What are my options? Does 4.1.2 fix this issue? Can I fix this issue without rooting?

It a "sudden death syndrome" meaning there are no symptoms. One minute your android is all nice and cuddly with you, you turn around to grab that fresh packet of durex and the next its lying dead with its tongue sticking out. Lol

I don't know if I should wait. I don't have the update yet in my country. The closest country to mine is Germany. The CSC is different though. Also, do I lose all my data as in a factory reset?

A factory reset would make your Contacts, messages and other accounts go "boom".
No data would be wiped though so your pictures, media files will remain intact
The issue is not software related. It is most definitely hardware. The phone is flawed and shuts off on it's own under various conditions, all hardware related. I am not able to post externally due to not having enough posts yet. However, I have had the same issue on 3 Galaxy Note 2's from Verizon. I made a video that shows exactly what is going on and posted it on the following website...
wwwDOTgalaxynote2shutsoffDOTcom
You will have to paste that link in to a new browser and replace the DOTs accordingly to get to it, but once you see the video, you will be enlightened. Be sure to read the details I provided on that site as well. They go in to detail about the problems that I have had and the lack of proper support that Samsung is willing to provide.

Serious Screen Problems

Hi guys
This is my first thread, in this forum. Personally, i've never moded my cell phone, but recently attempted to root and mod my wildfire s.
I succeeded, this forum was really helpfull!
Even before the mod, my screen was driving me crazy. In the begining it took my attempts to unlock the phone. Some other time, in the messages section, keypad would act on his own, literally Even if i typed "A" it would typed "enter" or anything else but "A". So I enabled touch trace to see what happens. Here is the thing, like i suspected, touchscreen's reactions are spoted away of the point i touch. Sometimes, two touch traces appear on the screen.. Some other times, its extremely difficult to unlock the screen, hang up the phone, or use the menu.. So that's the story. With the mod nothing changed..
Is it a hardware problem? Is it a software problem?
Thanks in advance.. :good::good:
PS: I use cyanogenmod 10
Only a couple of apps installed
PS: english is not my mother language so, maybe some unusual expressions and dictation could by used

It's not a big problem..
your hand is wet, and the screen also, but if you dry it with a polyester (of your t-shirt) it will work..
only dry the display and your hand
so..

Yes im using the stock one. I ve never measured the output though.. I maybe check it tomorrow.. But the problem is constant and happening, not only when the device is plugged... The other thing is, there isnt only ghost inputs, there are freezings too. Or a thing, where ex: im trying to unlock the phone, so i slide to the side, and visually im almost unlocking it, but in real, nothing happens. Its still on lock screen.
any other?? im kinda desperate with this phone.. :crying:

yes, If re-calibration is not helping then you need to replace the digitizer. Am also suffering the same issue now. Just got my digitizer replaced two days before. But am still suffering from some issues regarding touch. Gonna have to recheck with the retailer

That issue applies while we try accessing the phone while it is charging , right ? I mean, the touch response will be strange while the phone is been charged. But, here the OP is having issues with the touch screen all the time (charging / not-charging) . And re-calibration didn't work too.

Nope, issue happens at all times due to residual current.

I thought this was the error in the first place i measured current and voltage on the output of the charger and it seems legit..
I did change the charger thoug. So i didnt know how to proceed on this one. The way im thinking of it right now, i might let the battery completely deplete and charge from the new one?

Mirrored and upside down screen device after factory reset

I have an HTC One V that mirrored and flipped everything after I did a factory reset. So when it boots, it boots flipped and mirrored. Also the bootloader is flipped and mirrored. Before the factory reset everything was working fine...
The touchscreen remains normal. So it's almost impossible to tap the right buttons. Anyone that has a solution or at least a cause?

Well it's not mine. A friends kid got it from his mom. Don't know if it was dropped, but it was a used phone. The guy told me it was fine when he got it, but after a factory reset it flipped the screen. Don't know about the colors, haven't seen this HTC without this problem, so I only know it showing these problems. A few pictures of a normal one for reference perhaps? He didn't mention it was dropped.
It's not really important anymore, as the kid gave it back to his mother and he was promised a new one. A bit annoying, because he manages to break a phone a month and I get to try to fix them...

well the kid probably dropped it and it just took a bit for the display to go defective..
If it was really just after a factory reset you can try to RUU it but it doesn't seem that way. If he dropped it I don't think it's just a display damage it's more likely something on the motherboard. Or maybe the connector unplugged a little

You are not alone I have my secondary device (HTC One V) and thats too up side down and mirrored. I hope you have some solution for me. I have tried resetting and even I have change my ROM and recovery but not luck. So I believe that it must be some hardware problem. My phone was once damaged very badly and the screen glass is broken already.

If it's a hardware problem and everything is displayed upside down (the bootloader and splash screen also), you can't fix it completely by modifying software. But you can tell your display driver in the kernel to display everything upside down.
This doesn't fix the problem, it's just a workaround and your bootloader, recovery and splash screen will still be displayed upside down.

Phone getting hot, slow and annoying

Since I bought this Xperia model, I have had so many problems with it!
The first thing I noticed was that there were a delay in the whole incall ui (took about 5-7 seconds to start a call after pressing "call" button) this was really annoying and I thought that a little software update would solve it, but it didn't!
The other thing is that the phone gets hot very quick even if I'm not using it!
Last thing is... Before this phone, I had, Xperia Z, then Z1, then Z2, then Z3 and now Z5P. And I will really recommend from my own point of view that all those who has the Z3, please don't get the Z5P! (MY OPINION) I really regret that I sold my old Z3 for this annoying part of incomplete technology from Sony. I really hope that the the Z6-Series are going to fix all these problems and get EVEN better!
Btw, I've also got the UCH10 Quick Charger, and since SONY claims that Z5P supports Qualcomm QC2.0 I was hoping that it'll charge my device a lot faster.. But you know what?? It DOES NOT!
THIS IS NOT A RANT ON SONY ETC.. I'M JUST TELLING MY OWN OPINION TO LET OTHER PEOPLE KNOW OR LET THEM SHARE THEIR OWN STORY WITH ME.
(Sorry for my weak English)

I had a similar problem once, while driving with Bluetooth connected to the Parrot. I noticed the phone was quite hot in my pocket and the battery much lower than it should be, but I restarted it and the problem went away. I think some process was stuck, using 100% of the processor, but that was the only time.
So you aren't having the issue with the caller ui?

@ZohabK ,
mate, take a few breaths and calm yourself down. You came here looking for solutions and even before someone can get a word in, you start bashing the phone and recommending against it.
Now call off the hormonal tantrum and try a few things for me.
First - Find which program/module got stuck using the processor constantly and not letting your phone sleep. I have a sweet little feeling it's one of the 50 apps you have installed on it. Pardon me if Im wrong
Second - Download an application called BetterBatteryStats. It's free for xda users, google is your friend. Let it gather info for a while and then check your CPU levels and see how much sleep does your phone get and which is the most used frequency.
Third - Post some screenshots here of your Battery Usage screen (most important one is the one u get after you click on the Graph). Also post some screens from BBS like Partial Wakelocks and CPU usage. We can help but we need information. "My phone heats up" tells us nada
Fourth - Your QuickCharger does not charge quickly because the battery is being drained while charging by the CPU usage that is heating up your phone.
In general be aware of what u install on your phone and check each app's settings for background syncing and usage.
Cheers and good luck
Maybe your device is faulty...I am using it for almost a month now and no such issues. Charging is much faster then GS4 and GS5... It's not a USB C type port so won't be lightening fast charging 35% to 73% in 20 min just now... I am very happy as I come from lumia 1020, 920 and they take long time to charge..

You know what? I've only got 15 apps installed, (Facebook, Twitter, Pages for Facebook, YouTube Tapatalk, SoundCloud, Skype, Viber, YouTube Creator studio, the room 1 & 2.. Etc......)
I just used pc companion to repair the device, and now I've used it in about an hour and the caller delay has vanished! The slow reaction on fingerprint scanner is also gone now! Many of the slow laggy things are gone! As far as I know, everything seems fine now even though that I restored every single apk! Just one thing remaining for me to test... The battery life and quick charging. Will test that later.
Thanks for your advice anyway! I was maybe just unlucky to get a faulty device out of the box. Sorry for my weak English

G4 on ANDROID 6.0 Marshmallow but still getting touchscreen issues!?

Hello Guys,
i recently got a G4 running version v10d which is one of the first version. v10d was not stable concerning touchscreen sensitivity.
I decided to update my G4 directly to Android 6.0 without installing v10h (the version that fixed touchscreen issues this summer) to fix these issues
I thought that android 6.0 contains all fixes from previous versions but i still have these issues..
Sometimes the screen is responding, sometimes not.
What am i supposed to do to get rid of these touchscreen issues?

hey m8 dont worry touchscreen misses and problems are still present at v20b i am on v20b since the first day it came out in germany and i got the same problem u face. i usually get it when i try to unlockmy screen using knock code. i dont know but i think its about the tempered glass. i think the screen just doesnt recognice ur taps on it while its off because some bad software optimizations. factory reset does not help trust me i did it 3 times and still got it. so its eather the tempered glass or any screen protector or some bug in software i think because ,my screen and urs hopefully too works flawlessly after unlocking the phone. maybe this will patched out

Thanks mate! Weird cause i had another G4 that didn't have this kind of problems!
You have tempered glass or not ? I still have this problem, I didn't have the problem with V10C but long time ago. I have V20A euro now, so the last one and this touchscreen problem.

i don't think so? i don't have anything on the screen
I have the same problem. Screen does not turn on.
Tapping does not help and power button does not work either.
The phone works as calls are received.
The problem lies in the light sensor.
If I keep the phone at a strong light source, it turns on.
The strange thing is that I have no problem with another rom.
I used CM13 and the problem was not there. Just get back to stock ROM and now the problem is back.
I wait until the in camera CM 13 is operational, then I go back to CM 13.
Edit:
I'm back to CM 13, camera working now.
Screen problems are gone, i'm happy now.
