Since I bought this Xperia model, I have had so many problems with it!
The first thing I noticed was that there were a delay in the whole incall ui (took about 5-7 seconds to start a call after pressing "call" button) this was really annoying and I thought that a little software update would solve it, but it didn't!
The other thing is that the phone gets hot very quick even if I'm not using it!
Last thing is... Before this phone, I had, Xperia Z, then Z1, then Z2, then Z3 and now Z5P. And I will really recommend from my own point of view that all those who has the Z3, please don't get the Z5P! (MY OPINION) I really regret that I sold my old Z3 for this annoying part of incomplete technology from Sony. I really hope that the the Z6-Series are going to fix all these problems and get EVEN better!
Btw, I've also got the UCH10 Quick Charger, and since SONY claims that Z5P supports Qualcomm QC2.0 I was hoping that it'll charge my device a lot faster.. But you know what?? It DOES NOT!
THIS IS NOT A RANT ON SONY ETC.. I'M JUST TELLING MY OWN OPINION TO LET OTHER PEOPLE KNOW OR LET THEM SHARE THEIR OWN STORY WITH ME.
(Sorry for my weak English)
That behavior is not normal, the Call UI is fast and the Phone is very cold when inactive, so you might have a software problem, have you tried to repair vía Pc Companion?

I had a similar problem once, while driving with Bluetooth connected to the Parrot. I noticed the phone was quite hot in my pocket and the battery much lower than it should be, but I restarted it and the problem went away. I think some process was stuck, using 100% of the processor, but that was the only time.
So you aren't having the issue with the caller ui?

@ZohabK ,
mate, take a few breaths and calm yourself down. You came here looking for solutions and even before someone can get a word in, you start bashing the phone and recommending against it.
Now call off the hormonal tantrum and try a few things for me.
First - Find which program/module got stuck using the processor constantly and not letting your phone sleep. I have a sweet little feeling it's one of the 50 apps you have installed on it. Pardon me if Im wrong
Second - Download an application called BetterBatteryStats. It's free for xda users, google is your friend. Let it gather info for a while and then check your CPU levels and see how much sleep does your phone get and which is the most used frequency.
Third - Post some screenshots here of your Battery Usage screen (most important one is the one u get after you click on the Graph). Also post some screens from BBS like Partial Wakelocks and CPU usage. We can help but we need information. "My phone heats up" tells us nada
Fourth - Your QuickCharger does not charge quickly because the battery is being drained while charging by the CPU usage that is heating up your phone.
In general be aware of what u install on your phone and check each app's settings for background syncing and usage.
Cheers and good luck
Maybe your device is faulty...I am using it for almost a month now and no such issues. Charging is much faster then GS4 and GS5... It's not a USB C type port so won't be lightening fast charging 35% to 73% in 20 min just now... I am very happy as I come from lumia 1020, 920 and they take long time to charge..

You know what? I've only got 15 apps installed, (Facebook, Twitter, Pages for Facebook, YouTube Tapatalk, SoundCloud, Skype, Viber, YouTube Creator studio, the room 1 & 2.. Etc......)
I just used pc companion to repair the device, and now I've used it in about an hour and the caller delay has vanished! The slow reaction on fingerprint scanner is also gone now! Many of the slow laggy things are gone! As far as I know, everything seems fine now even though that I restored every single apk! Just one thing remaining for me to test... The battery life and quick charging. Will test that later.
Thanks for your advice anyway! I was maybe just unlucky to get a faulty device out of the box. Sorry for my weak English

I already made a search about this problem (I am not so newbie ) but I cannot find any problem like this.
but now you mentioned it, some times the battery has a strange behavior, some times is fully charged, a few minutes after show only 20%, if I reset the dash the battery shows 90% ..... maybe is time to a new battery pack
yah it is a problem with the dash as i experienced it as well...as soon as the new battery came it did not do that. if you check maybe your battery has swelled just a tiny bit...as that is what happened in my case even though i did not drop it in any liquid.

Stick a bit of card between the battery back and back of case, if the battery is malformed then it may just be a slight contact issue worth a try. "might get you by till new battery"

You can soft reset you phone, any application might be conflicting ,,, if it doesn't resolve your problem then take care about the POWER button , it might be pressed when its in your pocket and the long press will result in Shutdown and Restart of phone.
Also check your battery terminals, they should not be loose.

My damn Galaxy W was doing that too. Sent it away twice and have a replacement. Guess what? its still doing it!
Its most likely a battery issue, make sure your battery isn't fat. If it is it might be the culprit.
Or else some application inside is conflicting, like the developer did not test the app good enough then released it.
Have had 2 W's in the family doing this ,as above one went back to Samsung under warranty and that stll did it . I have just updated to CM9 - I am hoping this will cure - early signs are good
It should be, no offence to any JB fans out there, but CM9 is certainly winning in terms of stability. Do give me feedback.

Hey, My phone is having the same problem, except that it never shuts down when i'm not using it. If it's plugged in, it's fine. If it's running an application (while not charging), it shuts off. I've had this phone for around 2 and a half years and this problem is just starting now.

Hello Guys,
so i got my new one x yesterday and im not very happy with it.
1. It does some random reboots, just lying around and reboots sometimes.
2. Phone "hangs up" with black screen and blinking buttons. As far as i know this is a "kernel panic"
This happened about 5 times now, last time as im writing this.
3. Battery drain is huge, seems like a result of the above problems. Android OS has about 90% battery usage and it dropped to 82% after 54mins without charging and just lying around.
On the both screens you can hopefully notice it, 26mins and it lost 10% battery.
After this kernel panic the battery drain changed and the Android OS stopped to drain so much battery.
This is the "out of the box" state of my phone. I changed nothing beside from charging the battery and installed some apps (normal stuff, angry birds and such).
Does someone have a idea about this? I hope or assume these a software related problems. But im not sure with the kernel panic thing can this be due to hardware issues? Should i ask for a replace?
You said you installed a few apps and games. Try going back to factory settings first, wait a while and see if the pattern repeats, if the phone behaves normally, then it must be something you installed, not all apps are optimised for ICS.
Good luck!

check your kernel version pls
Ok thanks for your first impressions and help. Im trying the factory reset now.
I have done a screenshot of the kernel version.
First of all, and probably most important is to leave your phone charging for 6-8 hours without turning it on.
Then its spend the battery time where you do whatever it takes to.empty the battery completely until the phone is ready to shut down. Shut it down. Repeat charge process from above with device off. Turn it on and then you can be ready to test it for real. As far as reboots, you really should let the system settle down a bit. Give it a day or 2 without some extra heavy usage and I'm sure it will be just fine.

i hope this isnt a joke
joke or not, normal stuff apps can cause problems. the whole Android OS battery usage is because of apps you installed. it's a brand new phone and i wouldn't be too worried about it. i switched from Samsung to HTC because Samsung releases broken source code and doesn't seem like they really know how to do anything but stick hardware together. if i'm not happy with HTC, then maybe Motorola is making the next Nexus phone and i'll give that a try.
Please do keep us updated on how's everything working out ? Did the factory reset solved the issue? Hope this ain't an April fool joke ! Anyways hope everything goes well for you mate. Kept my fingers crossed on mine one x
So ok, i tried the factory reset twice. Seems Not to work atm. Im going to try it again. I hope Arhd and s-off is working soon
Im curios, maybe there are more ppl with this Problem after monday / tomorrow.
Ill keep you up2date.

Return it.
There's no way a factory-reset device should be behaving that way. My guess would be hardware problems.

Agreed, it sounds screwed to me.
I can't speak for the rest of the world - but I don't really know why people panic. If the phone ends up being unstable it's going back and they'll be refunding my contract - it's really that simple.
There was a similar problem on the original Desires. Linked to overheating especially with GPS.

I'm not going to say your wrong but could you post some evidence? Ok the first part is per the user manual so I will agree with that one. However there should be no need to empty and re-charge the battery should there? According to this site: http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/how_to_charge_when_to_charge_table Deep discharge wears the battery down. It also says no priming is needed.
Then the second point letting the system settle down? what? let what "settle down"? I don't even understand this statement. If you explain what you mean and again if you can provide some evidence that would be great. Thanks.
same problem
I experience the exact same problem. Random reboots and crashes.
What did you end up doing?
same problem too
Me too.
Get the phone for 2 days, and randoms reboots.
Get the same kernel that Dreist.
Try yesterday a factory reset, but no change.
I have the same problem. Constant reboots out of the blue. I'm back on my nexus which is super reliable. Probably gonna return it.
Got 3 reboots in a row yesterday but it was after flashing bricked kernel and battery under 23%, plugged the AC cable and no more reboots, perhaps the battery level is false with bricked kernel...
Just swapped mine out for a new one but now the new one has a yellowish screen. (sigh)

tried to conect to pc, the device is not recognized..
cant power on with the charger plugged in..tried another charger, no success
meanwhile i'm trying to put the battery on an external charger to see if its an issue with the battery itself..
i'm starting to think that my nexus is dead..
please if someone cound help me, it would be much appreciated. thx in advance!!!
sorry for my broken english, i'm from brazil
So it doesn't vibrate or anything? You can't get into bootloader? No Odin?
If no, then try OMAP flashing. I never did it, so I don't quite know about it, but apparently this saved some good amount of people with the hard bricking.

So the strangest thing happened. i left the battery in the external charger for a full day..when a took it off and put it in the phone, pressed the pwr button with no sucess...nothing again...tried a couple of times..and yet nothing
five minutes later ,on a last ditch effort, pushed the pwer button once more and..FINALLY ! the thing wakes up..booted normaly, like nothing happened.
today when the battery runs out again(on about 2 %) i turned it off and connected the usb cable to charge in my work's pc..now again the same thing happens, phone is dead again. tried with 2 different cables..battery is already in the external charger, gonna try again tomorrow..
starting to think the problem is in the usb connector or the battery itself..but at least my biggest fear(fried phone) seems less likely

So, my 6 days old Pixel 6 Pro just died during using Camera. I just opened camera settings, it freezed, display got black and now I cannot turn it on. If I put charger, nothing shows up, just black unresponsive screen. Holding power button for 30 sec - nothing, holding power button + volume up also did not help. Its completely unresponsive.
Any help please?? I am from Czech republic, bought it from Google Germany. Warranty is technically not possible, I do not know how to do it since I do not live in Germany.

Yes, true, I opened Modded Gcam. But still, how it can kill my phone? Its just Gcam app. Other users did not have any problem to turn off the dev settings.
Do you have your phone rooted? According to comediiian, you tinkered a bit with your device. But as long as you run stock software, no modded/custom apk should be able to kill your phone.
You could always try to get warranty from Google, by using a forwarding service that you give Google to send in your device and get it back. Or you could use the address of a friend in Germany, if you have one.

Best refer to this and contact the seller of your phone.
Keep in mind though, that you will have to probably pay at least for shipping.
If the kernel crashed, it might be worth a try to wait a couple days until the battery runs out. Maybe you even have a Kernel Panic. It's just odd that the screen stays completely black. Wait at least 5 or 6 days. Then charge it, to see if anything turns on.
I am not rooted, all is stock. I spent like 2 hours with Google support chat and nothing helped. We tried to reach bootloader, recovery, changed cables for charging. Nothing helped.
I will send it for a repair through some forwarding company. Thank you for the tip!
I am just so disappointed. Had Oneplus 8 Pro before Pixel and this phone survived lot more than this Pixel. I think there must be some critical bug or something.

Please don't blame this gcam mod... It works perfectly and cannot "kill" a P6Pro.
It's either a bad luck or a bad usage.
So, I have some news.
It was not working for like 3 hours. I thought ok let's try to kill battery faster by putting it on the heater. I left it there for like 15 minutes. It got pretty hot and then I tried again boot to bootloader by volume down and power. On the third attempt it worked!! My phone is back again. I'm still not sure what happened, but as I said, it happened once I clicked that dev settings in Gcam. I know it works for others without an issue.
Congratulations! Thank god you didn't put it in a microwave oven - SCNR

in no way you will drain your battery faster by putting it on a heater. HOWEVER you'll certainly harm the li-ion cell and definitely reduce its max capacity by doing so.
Lithium cells DRAIN faster when cold, not when hot. That's why ebikes are useless in winter or cold countries

Well true, I didn't know that. You think it can have big impact now on my battery since It overheated ? I had this message on display once I finally turned it on.

It's hard to mesure the exact impact on your battery... Probably you've lost some mAh of max capacity, maybe none.
Just enjoy it now but keep in mind heat is the enemy of li ion cells, a well as over charge/discharge.

You need to calm down before messing with things you don't fully understand.
P6P is my fourth Pixel phone. All 4 purchased at release.
My experience up to this point is that the phone as a offering has stability issues until the 3rd month of OTAs.
I dont really mod to heavily until the new year.
I had the same issue several days ago.
The screen went black and the phone won't vibrate when long pressing power bottom.
But actually I had WIFI hotspot turned on, and the hotspot was still accessible.
So I depress the power bottom for about 1 minutes and the phone just rebooted fine.
I had the exact same thing happen to mine. Except mine randomly rebooted about ten times over a few hours, then finally died.
Came back from the dead about an hour later.
By the way, there's quite a few peopel having random reboot issues. Seems like it's probably all connected to the black screen and temporarily dead scenarios.
The only people that have reached a solution are people that had the device replaced.
I'm going to be sending mine back. I think everyone else should as well - maybe it'll wake Google up to realizing they have a pretty major issue.
Why does my Pixel 6 Pro keep randomly rebooting? - Google Pixel Community
Pardon my confusion but what is the point of the gcam mod on a P6P?
1. I thought it was non-Pixel phones that benefit from modded gcam apps.
2. If the P6P has the best camera, what is being done to the gcam app to make it better or different to then reinstall on a P6P?
