I bought a faulty HOX on eBay advertised as locked to Orange and not working as a result of downloading an update that failed....
After messing around with it I discovered it was in APX mode which I somehow managed to recover it from using some tools that I found online that seem to have mixed results. I then installed this update:
RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_HTC_Europe_1.29.401.11_Radio_1.1204.105.14_release_260491_signed.exe
Which worked fine. I then tried the latest JB update -
RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_JB_45_S_HTC_Europe_3.14.401.31_R_Radio_5.1204.162.29_release_302015_signed.exe
Which failed with a signature error so I installed this -
RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_S_HTC_Europe_2.17.401.2_Radio_2.1204.135.20_release_274900_signed.exe
Which worked fine, however I cannot install the 3.14 JB update due to a signature error.
If I boot to fastboot I get the following information (unedited apart from the IMEI):
(bootloader) version: 0.5a
(bootloader) version-bootloader: 1.12.0000
(bootloader) version-baseband: 2.1204.135.20

I have unlocked the bootloader via HTC dev and at the moment it is relocked (fastboot oem lock) and displays '*** RELOCKED ***
The Serial Number and the CID are obviously wrong, which I assume is as a result of the APX recovery I somehow managed. Is there anyway I can install the latest RUU? I ultimately want to install Android 5.x and use this as a test device for my everyday phone so I can test ROMs before I put them on it.
Cheers

I managed to manually install HBOOT 1.39 via the jbtool I found on here. After that the RUU (RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_JB_45_S_HTC_Europe_3.14.401.31_R_Ra dio_5.1204.162.29_release_302015_signed.exe) installed OK. I am now stuck at this as there are no OTA updates available (I assume because of the invalid serial number and invalid IMEI). I have the original box and I know the original serial and IMEI.
I also managed to manually install HBOOT 1.72 manually via relocking the bootloader, extracting the firmware.zip from the latest 4.18 OTA file and manually flashing this via fastboot. I think this is as far as I am going to get with stock stuff and will need to move onto a custom ROM to get anywhere further. I expect the invalid serial number and IMEI number are going to prevent this actually working on the GSM network however.

Hello,
I have a HOX from SFR and I want to return to stock ROM (for remove SFR applications).
I ran RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_JB_45_S_HTC_Europe_3.14.401.31_R_Radio_5.1204.162.29_release_302015_signed but I had Error [131] Customer ID Error
Then I try RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_Vodafone_FR_1.26.163.2_Radio_1.1204.90.13_release_251225_signed but I had Error [140]: Bootloader version error
My bootloader is still locked. Is it possible to do something without unlock boot loader ?
Thanks beforehand for your help.

Yes you can run a RUU with an locked bootloader, but is must match your main version !
Your RUU HAS not been released yet, so or you are stuck on what you have or unlock it and go to a custom rom
And you say you want to return to stock but the bootloader is still locked, then you must be on stock because you can't change the rom without an unlocked bootloader .... or did you relock it ?
No, really locked, not relocked.
I want to get rid of the layer SFR (phone provider)
Jahwol
If the phone never was unlocked its 100% stock now, so I guess you mean that you want to go on a custom rom, and not go back to stock !
Please get the facts right first and be clear in what you want before we continue
Hi all, I seem to be going around in circles on this.
Basically I returned my M8 to stock and it was all working fine however was on an old version of android.
The phone said there was an update which I installed. Ever since the wireless will not turn on.
I have read some posts on here that if I could upgrade it to the next firmware level (2.26.61.1) the wireless would start working.
However you can only update over wifi or the pc link. I have tried to get the pc link to work. The best I got was the connection working and the download started but stayed at 0% so it clearly wasn't working.
I tried to browse the web also but that didn't work either.
I have done three factory reboots not and it will not enable.
Is there another way of tackling this?
Post your fastboot getvar all result without serial & imei no.
We'll see what actually that you need.

What you need is 4.19.61.2
Install TWRP 2.8.7.0
Restore 4.19.61.2 backup

We need RUU, which i couldnt find, you dont need to worry about Firmware, we just have to find RUU for Vodafone UK, even if it's 5.0.2, or 4.4.4, don't care, cause we can use OTA to update if the phone is 100% stock.
this one any good no?
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934518148
It's 401 for European unlocked, we need vodafone uk161
if I unlock the bootloader, do I still need to have usb debugging enabled in the settings before I can install twrp and an nandriod backup?
i dont think so, u can check forums noob friendly guides
So i accidentally wiped the phone including the internal storage and the OS instead of factory resetting (wasn't paying attention) and tried to re install the android marshmallow OS onto the phone which didn't work..
i managed to flash the twrp by following another forum where someone had the same problem, using the adb process to flash the bootloader etc but now i can't access the recovery at all, it just says entering recovery and remains idle until i get bored of waiting and power off.
Can anyone help me?
i can provide whatever information is necessary for you to help, just need my phone revitalised as i desperately need it for my new job that i should hopefully be starting at the end of the week.
thanks in advance!

I have quite the same problem (and i have One M8). Can't enter TWRP recovery, bootloop - just shows an endless loading, i can start the phone without that by pushing pwr button/VOL+/VOL- at the same time (fastboot mode - ok). I want to get the stock back, but it's impossible without entering TWRP. Can someone help me please? It seems that i do not understand this thing anymore.

Fastboot erase cache, then flash TWRP again in fastboot. Try TWRP 2.8.1.0, which is an older version (more compatible with your old firmware). Then see if you can boot into recovery.
Or flash signed firmware, to update firmware (yours is ancient) then flash TWRP 2.8.7 and restore a newer stock backup (corresponding to the firmware flashed).

Thanks a lot. I've tried the first solution and at least TWRP is now working. I've tried the same thing, but it seems, that it was a wrong version of TWRP
Many apologies, turns out i misread the model and its actually the M7 i have. But im glad that this post is helping others with my original problem and thanks to other members who contributed to helping!

You have the US Sprint version. US versions can't update OTA unless you are actually connected to that US carrier (in your case Sprint).
So therefore, yes RUU is the best way to install an "official" update.
You can find the Sprint RUUs here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2729173
You can update right to the last version (Marshmallow) 6.20.651.3 without flashing any intermediate versions. You will however need to flash the 6.20.651.3 firmware before 6.20.651.3 RUU (requirement peculiar to US Marshmallow RUUs).
Instruction on how to flash 6.20.651.3 firmware are on the same thread as the RUUs.
Keep in mind that flashing RUU will wipe the phone. So backup any data you want to keep to SD or off the phone (cloud, computer) before doing any of the steps.

It won't "fix" the issue of not getting software updates OTA. It's not so much an "issue" as it is just a fact of the US versions of the M8.
But it also doesn't matter. The RUU I suggested will put you on the last version released by HTC (Marshmallow). There have been no updates since, and there will be no more updates.
Please help - Not able to do hard reset on HTC one M8 and looking the Correct RRU

I have a HTC one M8 and it is in vicious Boot loop, sometime it go beyond the lock screen foo few minutes but reboot again.
