OOOOPS - Wrong forum please disregard
Hi...
I got a Kindle fire HD 7 - tate. I had CM11 (kitkat) running for quite a while now nicely.
Today I decided to upgrade it to CM12.1 - Maybe a fault.
First I flashed TWRP 2.8.3 (previously I had 2.7.0) from xda here. Ok so far. Just it brings some
gibberish on top of the orange "kindle fire" text on boot. But otherwise it seems to work.
I installed CM12.1 nightly from today. Before I did a full wipe in TWRP. Ok so far. It bootet up nicely
in CM. Now I flashed the gapps and rebootet. Ok so far. Everything seemed to work.
But now I maybe made a deadly mistake. I decided to do a factory reset in CM12.1.
(I wanted to make a really fresh and clean install with also running googles first boot wizard).
My KFHD7 shutted down and rebootet. But since now It is stuck in some kind of a loop.
The blue TWRP boot splash appears. Every 2 seconds the screen turns black for a second
then the blue TWRP boot splash comes back and this happens now again and again.
I turned off my tablet by a long press on the power button a couple of times, but it does not help.
Any idea how I can revive my tablet?
Thanks for all your help!
OMG, this exact thing just happened to me tonight. I was trying to wipe the ROM clean to sell the Kindle from within CM12.1. After it rebooted automatically, I went into a teamwin loop blanking every few seconds with a pattern. Just posted a question over on Reddit. I haven't found an answer yet, but upgrading from twrp 2.7.0.0 to 2.8.7.0 changed the repeated teamwin loop into a orange kindle fire loop. With nothing to lose, I'm just going to keep loading stuff via fastboot until something else changes.

I have looked around some and just not finding the answer to my problem
I got a new Kindle Fire, downloaded the Kindle Utility and followed those instructions. Kindle booted up and all looked good. I then dowloaded the alien rom and installed it. Now I get one of two things either it boots up and just stays at the skull screen or it will boot up and i get a black screen with backlight on. Nothing i do will work and i dont know how to access the kindle to try another rom.
NOW the bad news NO i was so excited that i forgot to backup my rom at the beginning of all this.

Boot into TWRP and do a factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache and then flash the rom again.
Hello veeman,
I have done that ones already but I am going to do it again now, will let you know if it works or not this time
Okay
I went into recovery mode, did factory reset three times, then did wipe cache three times, and then did wipe darik three times. After that i installed the rom again. First time it booted up it went to a black screen with what i guess you call the back light on. So i powered it off and started it again.Kindle fire screen came up and then went black again.

Okay, well what you think is TWRP is actually CWM. CWM does not play nice with newer ROMs (ICS/JB). Install TWRP to fix the problem.
Okay since i cant get it to boot or anything how will i get it installed at this point

I have a feeling you are in the wrong place. Are, by any chance, the images you described earlier explicitly named "stock-boot.img" and "stock-recovery.img"? If so, there's a good chance you are in the wrong place. What software version was your device running before this happened? Could you describe this so-called "fastboot logo"?
On the off chance that you do have a 1st generation Kindle Fire and not a 2nd Generation Kindle Fire, flashing the boot and recovery images will do nothing for you in your situation. You would have to reinstall the ROM as described in the FAQ listing that I referred to earlier. :silly:
I was able to get my VS HTC One S-Off with Firewater, thankfully.
As I was trying to load Cyanogenmod, the Wipe Cache process seemed to take way too long >30minutes. I powered down and rebooted, and then loaded the cyanogenmod stable RC zip. The phone is now permanently stuck in the cyanogenmod boot loop, with the blue arrow going in a circle.
I can't even get it to power down successfully...but sometimes it will turn off and then go back into the same loop. I have gotten it to fastboot once, but I tried to wipe all the caches/partitions again, and reboot...and same loop.
Any help please?

More info:
I was able to get into CWM v6.0.4.7 recovery. I'm was able to sideload the STABLE CM 10.2 for verizon htc one...and it seems to have installed. But I'm still going into a boot loop. The loop is different for the stable version than it was for the release candidate...just a different CM logo and circle. So that's how I know the CM 10.2 stable loaded effectively. It rebooted on it's own one time after 10 mintues of looping, but still stuck.

It's the recovery, I'm 99% sure of it. I had the same issues that you described and resolved it by flashing CWM 6.0.4.4.
You should be able to find it somewhere on the forum but if not I have a copy on my FTP here: http://www.radracer.us/otp/droid/recovery-clockwork-6.0.4.4-m7vzw_2.zip
Once you flash the new recovery do a data/cache wipe as you usually would and then try loading CM once more. The data/cache wipe should be almost instant.(<60seconds)

After trying a few other roms unsuccessfully, I read somewhere about a CM11 Nightly that was very stable. I wiped everything 3 times, sideloaded it, and voila...it's working fine right now.
Thanks for all the help...I'm finally on Cyanogenmod...which has been evading my phone of choice for so many years!
First post woo! Okay so, I rooted my Kindle Fire HD 8.9" and flashed CM 12.1 on it using twrp. It was working fine for a few days but I couldn't get Google Play Games without getting the error : "Unknown error code during application install: -505". I looked online and the only solution I could find was to do a factory reset and then the install would work. So from settings I reset my device and now it gets stuck in an eternal boot animation. I see the orange kindle fire logo then the blue kindle logo then I just stuck on the CM animation. I can boot into fastboot using: fastboot -i 0x1949 getvar product. Please help fast I will answer any questions I can!
Since you can get into fastboot all is well. Just reboot into recovery using
fastboot -i 0x1949 oem recovery
From twrp I would suggest first trying to wipe the cache and then reboot. If that doesn't work then get back into twrp (same process) and first wipe everything but internal storage, then do a clean re-install of cm12.1 and gapps.
FYI the problem you had with Google Play Games is a known problem with cm12.1 and gapps for 5.1. I've tried several different versions of gapps and had a variety of problems with each one. I finally went back to one of the most recent versions of cm11 and things are much more stable (and faster). You may be happier doing the same. I'll keep watching the cm12 forum and give it another go when it's more stable.
Good luck!
Every time I update my cm 11 to 12.1 I lose all my apps and every other setting. NO THANKS back to 11 to stay until they get it right.
Ya it won't let me install google play games either.
As for the boot animation I've had that prob as well, just press & hold power button till it turns off then you can try'n turn it back on again.
If it does it every time then back to TWRP & you know what to do
Hey guys.
I'm really mad at myself right now because I think made the worst mistake of my years of owning a kindle fire device. So here's the lowdown.
I have a Kindle Fire HD 8.9" with CM 12 on it with TWRP 2.7.0.0
In CM 12, I hit "Reset Tablet" in the settings app. It reboot and booted to TWRP. The slash screen then started to flash over and over again every 4-5 seconds. Now this is the part where I'm not sure about something. Was this caused by me initiating a factory reset from CM 12 or is it because my installation of TWRP is corrupt?
I haven't tried to reflash TWRP through fastboot yet, since I don't have access to my computer right now. Is there a way I can fix this without needing to use my computer? Any help is appreciated!
Thanks,
Nick
