Does anyone know why the above os won't run a signed exe ruu ?
It's a new pc and was having trouble gettin HTC drivers installed so that the phone would take fastboot commands. That's solved now, but still have a problem gettin an ruu to run.
I get to the window where you "check" tilt you agree with t&c's etc but after that, nothing.
It works fine on a 32bit machine.
Have tried a fresh download too but it still won't run.
There's a similar thread in here but the suggestions made in it don't help.
Cheers

No "errors" as such, just stops after accepting terms and conditions. Goes through the "install wizard" ok then after clicking "yes" to accept t&c's it goes no further. I've used the exact same download on a 32bit machine, several times, without any problems.
Cheers
Give it some time. For whatever reason, there is an absurd delay at times in the RUU software. I'm not sure if that is a x64 thing or not, as I only run RUU's from my Win7-64bit machine, but it does eventually get there.

Ok, thanks. What sort of "time" are you talking about ? 2 or 3 minutes or more.
Have, over last few nights, let it "sit", but prob only 30 seconds or so.
P.S. Did you get your HTC drivers, for fastboot, to install ok ?
I had to go into "advanced settings" by constantly pressing f8 on pc reboot and "force it" to install unsigned drivers.

I forget now, as it's been a while, but I remember thinking it had locked up and killed it from Task Manager a few times. It was on the order of minutes.
Also, yes - I had all of the drivers installed at that point, and could talk to the phone using adb/fastboot.

Thanks for your replies...... just got it to run.
It runs in seconds, now, after accepting "license agreement".
Downloaded ruu again and now runs, don't know if redownloading solved it or not but that's the only thing that's different from my previous attempt.

Having a bit of an issue with the bootloader unlock instructions from here:
http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/instructions
Basically the problem is that step 13 just isn't happening. First time I tried it DID pop up but for some reason the bit asking for drivers closed down. Now I can't get to the point where I choose the drivers so I can't go any further.
Anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks!

Thanks! I can't believe Sony didn't put that in their guide. Thought it would be something simple but my last phone I did this on was a Nexus One so i didn't have to do that. Once again thanks! Problem solved.
Then again perhaps there is still a problem...
Did this, went to the right file, the drivers are DEFINITELY here, yet Windows can't find them. WTF Windows?
Oh well, sure its not a huge issue. Any ideas anyone?
Use the latest version of PDAnet. It will solve your driver problems, you won't have to do anything else.

Sorry but I've tried looking this up and I'm not sure if I'm finding the right thing. Mind sending a link or something? Thanks!
You need some different AMD driver for fastboot to work.
I found the same problem with AMD machine and used a different driver posted by someone on this forum.
Search for it and you will be ok to boot into fastboot once it is properly installed.

I got a similar problem, except that, Device manager does not list S1 Boot device..
But the phone is connected in fastboot mode.. blue led and everything..
the only things listed are:
* Base System Device
* Bluetooth Peripheral Device
* Bluetooth Peripheral Device
* Bluetooth Peripheral Device
* Bluetooth Peripheral Device
* Bluetooth Peripheral Device
But I can eject the device by clicking on the icon in the bottom right.. and that reads "Eject S1Boot Fastboot" ..
but why isnt it listed in device manager?

Why not just partition and dual boot with a 7 that you know works? Or look for a Android SDK. Doubtful you'll find any Sammy support just yet..

I am having issues getting my AT&T Galaxy S3 with CM 10 to connect to my PC so I can view it in Windows Explorer. Here is what I have tried doing:
Tried three different cables that worked previously
Tried different PC/laptops with the same OS, Win7 64bit
Re-install Samsung drivers
Clean flash CM10
Restore back to stock TW
Did a battery pull
I am just at a loss on what to do to get it to work. My computers don't see the phone in Device Manager, but will charge the phone. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Should I contact AT&T or Samsung to get a replacement?

I've seen a few others in the CM10 thread saying the same thing. The second poster here said he is having the issue to but on AOKP, which is built off of CM10. I just wonder if it's the port on the phone? I went back to stock to try it yesterday and still have the issue, so it makes me think that its either the port or something on Windows 7. But I would think if it was the port, then it wouldn't charge.
I am on AOKP on 10/28 build with Tasks thread.
This issue wasn't there last time i checked about 4 or 5 builds ago (since i don't plug my phone in that often).
I'm about to install Windows 8 on my computer, lets see what that does xD

Try this:
Uninstall all Drivers, and Kies if installed
Reboot
Install these drivers
Reboot
Place your phone into Download Mode and open ODIN
Hook up
See if at least those drivers will install
If they do, unhook your phone, boot it up normally, and hook it back up

Cheap hackers number one attack is to uninstall drivers. Once you get rooted I suggest you chown your USB settings to no where. I have to reinstall by samsung drivers before I use Odin every time. There's some great apps like pdanet that will fix your windows drivers but in some cases to well. You basically got a debugging bridge for the world. As far as the drivers in your note the scam is to get you to pay for remote help. I chowned the drivers in it and it's good but I can't get them to let up on my son's S4. Here's the trick - it they don't stay inactive in recovery or dl mode. When you boot into dl they default disable (this may even be Samsung). Pull the battery and wait for about 30 seconds - replace the battery and boot straight to dl. This works for me every time.

Sorry if this is redundant, I can't see that my first reply posted. To get your usb too work in DL mode you have to give it a cooling period from the time you shut it of. The more I think off it it is a samsung thing on new firmware. All though when it happens too me I always get a link from people wanting money to fix it. Pull the battery, wait 30 seconds then boot straight to dl = volume down + home + power. The USB resets after the cool down.

It has been getting way bad for my Note 4 S4 and puter. My S4 got so it wouldn't even charge after cold boot. If I didn't have extra batteries and a wall charger I probably would have never figured it out. My pc updated to a invalid copy of sevice pack one and when I plugged my note in to it a note popped up saying this device can not communicate with the device it is connected to. It said that you have to make windows like Mac for it to work right and a bunch of other absuuird stuff. It gave me a link to androidfilesystems.com and said I'll find it there. I downloaded a package called android drivers to check it out. This app says you have to fet your ADB drivers for windows from your android. I was lauging my ass the whole time but I had to check it out. This app opens and it prtends to be pulling stuff from your device. Once out it tries to install and then says it failed becuase my device has been tampered with but they can fix it for me remotely for $200. It seems to have come with stalk firmware from SamM##### They haven't been watching me as closely as I thought. Because the would have noticed the APK decompiler the PDAnet (which has a straight awesome ADB for windows driver. The fast ADB, the android SDK and all of the other things that show that not only do I know windows drivers don't come from android, I will also be taking their app apart to figure out if they are infecting me worse. I pulled it a part and it does have a pretty good driver package for windows and the only malice had to come pre installation and the lie about what they are doing. I still have the apk. it gves me a good laugh when I'm down.
If you had this issue it will persist. Your going to have to fix your driver issues every time you adjust your firmware, unless your straight change all of it. The first step is to not install busy box. A couple of apps will refuse to try but for the most part will run better. It makes way to many sym links to ever break them all. Another is in recovery use the terminal to go to /sbin/recovery chmod the dev files and then chown the usb file -Rwith -L. They are all ready set. There is no reason for it to be sym linked other than for malicious outsiders to turn it off. When you go to sbin you are going to notice TW home has been given down load capabilities and crypto files. Neither of those serve a purpose for the user. I don't know how to break the download on the tw other than to freeze and/or uninstall it and use a differnt driver. You can lose the crypto files with chmod 0755 and cmd wipe_data_crypto. Good luck.

Yes, I am having the exact same issue. Have spent a long time searching to see if there's a solution but your post is the first time I have seen that proves it's not just me!
I am guessing it is most likely to be a software conflict but I just cannot figure out what might be clashing. I don't think I have anything unusual running. Hardware wise my laptop definitely meets the specs required. What laptop are you using? Mine is an HP Spectre x360 - 15-bl050na
If you do find a solution please post it here (I will do the same of course)
