Not sure what you got a hold of. Just looked at the MSDN kit here and there's no RC. Everything still shows Preview..
Why not just partition and dual boot with a 7 that you know works? Or look for a Android SDK. Doubtful you'll find any Sammy support just yet..
Or you know... go back to windows 7

You dont have to have KIES.....I am running windows 8 and sometimes mine doesn't connect...I have to unplug and plug it back couple times for it to connect...the first time it took it awhile to install the drivers after I plugged it in

I am having issues getting my AT&T Galaxy S3 with CM 10 to connect to my PC so I can view it in Windows Explorer. Here is what I have tried doing:
Tried three different cables that worked previously
Tried different PC/laptops with the same OS, Win7 64bit
Re-install Samsung drivers
Clean flash CM10
Restore back to stock TW
Did a battery pull
I am just at a loss on what to do to get it to work. My computers don't see the phone in Device Manager, but will charge the phone. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Should I contact AT&T or Samsung to get a replacement?
Holy ****. This just started happening to me too. Tried everything!
I'm on tasks aokp with w7. I also tried my sisters mac and my homies windows 7 computer. Nothing works. Tried different cables as well. all it does is it charges!

I've seen a few others in the CM10 thread saying the same thing. The second poster here said he is having the issue to but on AOKP, which is built off of CM10. I just wonder if it's the port on the phone? I went back to stock to try it yesterday and still have the issue, so it makes me think that its either the port or something on Windows 7. But I would think if it was the port, then it wouldn't charge.
I am on AOKP on 10/28 build with Tasks thread.
This issue wasn't there last time i checked about 4 or 5 builds ago (since i don't plug my phone in that often).
I'm about to install Windows 8 on my computer, lets see what that does xD

I don't plug mine in that often either, only to upload my backup of my phone to my Google Drive account, which I do weekly. Its worked on my PC before, so maybe its a hardware issue.

I was trying to see was it a global issue with CM10, but since you're on the same build as I am, with me having no issues, I know it can fixed... No need to install Windows 8...
Try this:
Uninstall all Drivers, and Kies if installed
Reboot
Install these drivers
Reboot
Place your phone into Download Mode and open ODIN
Hook up
See if at least those drivers will install
If they do, unhook your phone, boot it up normally, and hook it back up

Also try a different USB port for those steps, and make sure it's the stock cable... Saw it mentioned it was, but I don't know if it was you that said it was...
When I put the phone in Download mode, Windows see's it, and installed its Drivers. I unhooked it, rebooted my phone, waited until it was done, plugged it in and I get nothing. Odin doesn't see it but does in Download mode. Any ideas?
Device Manager see's the phone in Download mode.

No it doesn't. I am making a nandroid backup right now. I think I am gonna Odin flash it back to stock/unroot and see if it will work there. Then if it does I will root again and clean flash CM10 and not restore my data.

I'll try the method I know and report back. Maybe this afternoon before I do.
Well I am back on full stock after Odin force install and still my PC doesn't see my phone. I proceeded to put my phone into Download mode from stock and my PC installs the drivers because it can see my phone. I am officially stumped.

I've tried different cables and PC's but I am at work right now. I will leave it on stock until I get home and I'll try it on my desktop and laptop with the official cable. I'm doing a chat with Samsung support to see what they say right now.
OS: Windows 8 x64
Phone: Verizon DINC2 rooted with CM9
I rooted and flashed my phone on Windows 7 with no issues. Windows 8 will not recognize my phone. Device manager shows: Other devices->Android Phone with a warning symbol over it.
I've tried installing HTC sync
I tried installing Win7x64 drivers via this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2232799 but I get an error message saying "Windows was unable to install your Android Phone"
I've tried using different USB ports (non 3.0) and different USB cables and still nothing. Could this be a ROM issue, I know CM7 is the only one officially supported for DINC2.
Has anyone else had any luck with Windows 8?

Guys i need help.
Normally i connect my note 2 to my windows 7 64 bit system, however i have recently upgraded to a windows 8 desktop and now i cannot get the PC to recognize the drivers at all.
I installed the toolkit and downloaded/installed drivers accordingly NO DICE
downloaded drivers directly from samsung, only 1 available download.... installed.... NO DICE
Phone is in USB debugging mode but that apparently changes nothing. I have not changed anything at all except the computer i'm connecting the phone too. Is this phone compatible w/ win8? I have 64-bit so i am not sure if that's a problem.

roll back driver
you got one of few issues.
1. Your not the installed admin user on your computer. (each manufacture puts a Hidden Admin account on each computer) its a Dell or Hp etc thing not a Microsoft issue.
To become hidden admin (do this step last if no others work)
2. You need to roll back your drivers and install the ones from the Phone NOT the ones from Windows. So to roll back to starting position or delete them go to this Guide here for Rollback
Next you need to Keep windows from grabbing the Samsung drivers from Windows which can be the issue
Go here for help if you don't know how to do this
3. You need to uninstall and the drivers for the phone, and download the new drivers from Samsung and/or delete the drivers and ALLOW the phone to install them only
To do this go HERE
This above link is to delete the old USB drivers. IT WILL DELETE MOST OF THEM, dont worry the devices will auto load when you put them back into the computer.
IF 2 or 3 DONT work then do step one. Between each step do a rest, and keep all devices of USB unplugged.
Good luck

Yes, I am having the exact same issue. Have spent a long time searching to see if there's a solution but your post is the first time I have seen that proves it's not just me!
I am guessing it is most likely to be a software conflict but I just cannot figure out what might be clashing. I don't think I have anything unusual running. Hardware wise my laptop definitely meets the specs required. What laptop are you using? Mine is an HP Spectre x360 - 15-bl050na
If you do find a solution please post it here (I will do the same of course)
Just installed on laptop now. Did hang at 0% for a long time, not sure why, but finally installed after about 3 minutes.

But I have a S10+ and the Samsung drivers are already installed; using Windows 10 Pro 64 bit.
Hope you have some suggestion.
