Hi,
After I updated to android 5.1.1 on my S6 edge Ive lost my badge app icon aka notification count for whats app textra and other apps that used to show notification counts on them prior to the update ( android 5.0.2). I am using the normal touchwiz launcher that came with my phone. I have used it as well before the update. I was wondering if anyone has experienced the same problem since updating with apps other than stock apps.
Hi lebdeb85,
I am experiencing the exact same issues as you are. The badge continues to work for FB, Pinterest, Drippler, Email... but stopped working for WhatsApp, Textra, FB Page Manager and other applications. I have yet to find any more information about this problem. Did you make any progress??

Hi Biggaboss,
Nope no progress at all, I contacted T-mobile. The Tmobile rep downloaded whats app and had the same problem. He told me those app developers have to probaby update their app to be up to date to the new software. I contacted whats app and no reply. I contacted textra and I have been in communication with them. I also contacted Samsung and the rep said same thing as Tmobile. So I guess we'd have to wait for an update to those apps. As far as other way around I tried Nova Launcher with Tesla unread but didnt like the fact that when you swipe a notification it clears the count as well so I am back to touchwiz.

Textra people replied and they are working on it, as for whats app they replied and it worked.. This is the solution they provided
1. If you are able to open WhatsApp, create a manual backup by opening [WhatsApp] > [Menu Button] > [Settings] > [Chat Settings] > [Back up chats].
2. Delete WhatsApp by going to [System Settings] > [Manage applications] > [WhatsApp] > [Uninstall].
3. Access whatsapp.com/android from your phone
4. Tap "Download now" - the file will download as an APK file.
5. Open the APK file. Installation will begin automatically.
I believe the app has been updated on their website

Ledbed85,
Thanks for your reply. It is good to know that Textra is working on it as I like that app a lot. I was thinking about trying Nova Launcher, but did not like how it displayed the notification bubble, so decided to wait and keep using touchwiz. I will try the Whatsapp solution you described and hopefully that will work. It is also good to know that we simply may have to wait until everybody upgrades their apps and know it is not a problem on our end.
Thanks again,
Ricardo

lebdeb85,
I tried your steps and it worked to perfection. I didn't need to uninstall the current version of whatsapp, just went directly to the website, downloaded and installed the new .apk and restarted my phone. Now the badge is working again. Thank you so much for your help.

Hi All,
Thought I would let you all know that the new marketplace has just come out, Version 3.3.11.
Details of the new market (copy & paste)
Note: Root is not required.
Note: If the Market starts force closing, just open Settings >
Applications > Manage > Market, and clear data.
What's changed? So far, we've found:
New setting: Auto-update apps (presumably, sets all apps to auto-update mode, woohoo!)
New setting: Update over Wi-Fi only
New setting: Auto-add shortcuts (automatically adds homescreen shortcuts for new apps, a la Honeycomb)
Smaller font
New app drawer icon
Microphone (voice command) button in search menu
Star rating chart on app pages
Minor UI tweaks
Download link here:
http://min.us/mbkcCQPLvP
Original Source of info here:
http://www.theandroidlinks.com/Andr...-update-over-wi-fi-only-shortcuts-and-more-1/
I have personally installed it, and it works perfectly. It is (in my opinion) ALOT faster, more responsive than the 3.2.0 which i had previously had installed...
If this has helped, please click thanks below.
Cheers
Hi!
Only one (noobish?) question: but Market is capable to upgrade itself or I have to download and install new release?

It can and does upgrade itself, but only when its officially released by google and pushed out to phones via the market updater.
This release here is pre-released version of what may or may not be pushed out by google. So if you manually update it yourself, you will have the newest version now. I for one, love having new apps, roms, kernels etc as soon as they are released.
Coming from 3.1.5, the new Market seems more responsive (but it might also be the upgrade to Android 2.3.5 )
Anyway, thanks for sharing!
There has already been 4/5 threads and download links about this already, i wouldn't call it an incredible speed increase but it is noticeably better than the last version but unfortunately still pales in comparison to the iClone app store but im sure Google will get there eventually.

O rly, sorry i had a 3 page look back to see if anyone had posted anything about it before posting, and couldnt find anything - so i thought i would share.
Coming from Market 3.2.0 i notice a huge speed increase, but that might just be my phone compared to others.... edited the title to not mislead others into unconfirmed speed increase.
Cheers
Agreed, lot much better, thanks
i have tried downloading it and when i install it stays on 3.2.0 any ideas on how to get it working
thanks
Heres the method i used:
1) Get root explorer (or some app that allows root exploration - ES file explorer also does this and is free.
2) go to SYSTEM/APP and rename "Vending.apk" to "Vending.apk2"
3) rename the new "Market-3.3.11.apk" to "Vending.apk" and copy it onto your SDcard
4) copy this new "Vending.apk" from your SDcard to SYSTEM/APP (paste)
5) hold your finger on the new "Vending.apk" thats inside the SYSTEM/APP folder - go to permissions
6) tick all 3 of the first boxes on (READ column), and only the top box in the second row (WRITE column), and none in the 3rd row (EXECUTE column) then tap ok
alternatively - you can just copy the file onto your SDcard and run the application, assuming you have:
Settings > Applications > Unknown Sources (Ticked on)
I have installed it on Samsung Galaxy S2
My existing version is v3.1.5 have updated to this v3.3.11
I will use it for few day and let you guys know if getting any errors !
Thanks for update !
It's not a pre-release, I'm in the uk and my phone auto updated to this version about 3 days ago.

I notice they still haven't fixed the bug where you update an app which i done last night, it appeared to update fine, i just check the market now and the very same app is there waiting to be updated
If you feel market loads too slow, try this:

I get this to, also auto-update doesnt seem to work.
I've seen this many times. If you install an app from outside market it seems like market comes "out of synch". When it says update for the market app it's the latest official one. The way to get rid of this false update is to uninstall and install again. But then you are back to the official release.
But i don't think you should do this with the market app. I'm not sure if you get it back. If you loose it, just install the market.apk from the OP.
Thanks man!
It wont install in my phone, either install or renaming to Vending.apk and moving to apps...
I'm not sure if it's just me but it seems that this release fixes the issue where the market app gets stuck at "loading".

To the MoltenMotherBoard team,
Any chance of a flashable update.zip / patch.zip to go from release 6 to release 7. Just to avoid having to setup a new rom from scratch again?
Thanks.
PS. Good work with this project and your MMB Tweaks :good:

Bug Report - DebianDroid Lenny - Release 7
Hi Guys,
Just thought i'd advise of a few bugs I have found with the latest release. I would post this in the Development thread, but i'm not allowed yet because i'm an XDA noob!
1. System Settings > (Interface) DebianDroid Settings > Interface > Notification Power Widget > Widget Buttons > Brightness Modes >
Force Closes.
This is a new bug, it worked fine in release 6.
Also, if it's possible with this one, can you remove the option for "Auto" as the Gio doesn't have this ability.
2. System Settings > (Interface) DebianDroid Settings > Interface > Notification Power Widget > Widget Button Order >
The re-arranging doesn't work like it's suppose to. You can only drag the rows to the very top. Getting the order you want is still achievable, however you have to do it in reverse and it can be a little confusing and tedious.
This was also a bug in the last version.
3. System Settings > (Wireless & Networks) More... > Tethering & Portable Hotspot > USB Tethering >
Turns on, says it's tethered and then turns itself off again straight away.
Not sure if this worked on the last version or not.
4. System Settings > (System) Performance > Spare Parts >
Force Closes.
This was also a bug in the last version.
5. Duplicate settings menu items.
"Performance" and "Lockscreen" appear under the "DebianDroid" sub-menu as well as the main "System Settings" menu.
"Application" sub-menu appears under the "DebianDroid" sub-menu as well as under the "Apps" sub-menu.
I know you advised that you had cleaned up/removed un-needed menu items in release 7 change log, but I just thought I would point these duplicates out and see what you wanted to do with them.
In regards to your MMB Tweaks 0.9, have you ever thought about integrating them into this ROM. That would be awesome! :highfive:
Great work with this by the way, I have tried/tested heaps of ROM's for the Gio and this is definitely one of the best. Please rethink about finishing up developing on this ROM as it would be a real shame, even if you only do bug fixes mainly as it would be worth it.
Regards, :fingers-crossed:
Hey, mate. Let me tell you my trick to solve this issue.
Facebook apps need a lot of resource, both Processor and RAM. Since the app will render image, JavaScript, and HTML 5. Our device is low-end-device which is having bad Processor and Memory (RAM). To solve this issue, we need to give a lot of free space of RAM and Processor.
NOTE: We can't do much things to solve the App, but we can manage Processor and Memory consumption
I usually using greenify at this point.
Skip * steps if you're using greenify free version
1. Install Greenify(Free version is OK though)
2. Install SuperSU. I recommend this app if you having issue the apps are not hibernated automatically when the device is entering sleep mode.
* 3. Install Xposed Installer
4. (skip this step if you already have superSU) Open SuperSU, then update SU binary through CWM - the phone will reboot to recovery and updating SU binary automatically
* 5. Open Xposed Installer - Choose Framework - Choose Install / Update
* 6. Reboot
* 7. Open Xposed Installer - Choose Modules - Check Greenify
* 8. Reboot
9. Open Greenify - Tap on + Icon
10. Choose any apps you want to hibernate
* TIPS *
- If you using Hangouts with SMS / MMS feature, don't greenify this app. Otherwise, you won't get any notification when new SMS is arrived.
- Don't greenify (hibernate) Instant Messaging like WhatsApp, LINE, etc. BBM using a lot of RAM, you can greenify this app to get rid of lag.
11. When you're done with those apps, tap option button (Letf soft key from "HOME" hard key) - Still in greenify
12. Choose Experimental features
13. Check boost mode
14. Check Keep Notifications
15. Check Wake-up Tracker & Cutoff
16. Check Block App State Abuse
Don't wory with dark options, those option are only available on Donation Package. That's it, and you are done.
NB:
- I don't care if I can't receive notification from Facebook immediately. I'd rather keep my phone cold, calm, and my battery is save.
- If you like Greenify App, Please Buy Donation Package on Google Play
You don´t need Xposed if you are just using the free version of Greenify.
You only need it when you are willing to use the paid donation version to greenify system apps too. So you tutorial is either not complete or you skipped this information for some reason.
Edited

But this is not the fault of Greenify but because FB is so bloated. Personally this is a must have app and if you ask me it should be part of each Android ROM or at least something simmilar build in.

This is a great thread! Thanks for posting this. I needed some answers about this too..
In kitkat 4.4 , when you install xposed framework, the runtime changing won't work.
If you remove it, it works. So those those who change runtimes can forget Xposed Framework.

I am planning to flash PA to my old Nexus 7 (Tilapia) without gapps. The idea is to find out whether an Android device can be decoupled from Google. And whether such a device can still be used in a normal day to day scenario for surfing, mail, contacts ...
There are many apps out there which could be used instead of the apps in the gapps package (i.e. play store => f-droid, mail => k-9, chrome => firefox, maps => navit / OsmAnd, ...). And with a simple raspberry pi and owncloud also some of the google services can be replaced by an self hosted solution.
What are your thoughts on this:
- Is this possible in principle with PA?
- What should I watch out for when setting up the N7?
- Any other suggestions?
Of course you can do it. The ROM is functional without gapps
Sent from my Nexus 5
I don't know what it is you should be watching out for when trying your experiment but I believe it can be done. You'll have to use a 3rd party app store to download the apps you want to replace the stock apps with (k-9, etc). But once you start doing that, what's the point?
To prove you don't need to use Google Branded apps? Just root your device, install Titanium and freeze all the google apps. Same thing, right?
Just flashed PA without gapps. Added some great Apps from f-droid. Everything works great. Next steps will be to Conect to a dropbox server.
Currently I am getting a notification that a new system update, a new gapps version is available. Can I somehow disable in PA the check for new gapp versions?
Thanks!

Thanks Pirateghost, just found it.
I am currently running into two issues:
I installed the "920 text editor" via f-droid. But when I try to start it the app it opens for a nearly a second and then a error window says >"920 Text Editor" wurde beendet.< (I am using a German system; translation something like >"920 Text Editor" was stopped.<). Is there a log file which could provide more information why this application was not able to start?
I paired my German bluetooth keyboard (QWERTZ layout) with the nexus. But unlike to stock Android in PA they keyboard is mapped with the American layout (QWERTY layout). So some keys are not inline with the labelling. I did not find a way to change the used layout in the settings. Any ideas?
Hello,
with my G8 / GX8 Lite (with my other Huawei P9 Lite too) stock rom when the screen is off since a few I don't receive whatsapp notifications until I enter the app.
No problem if whatsapp is on or used a few second before.
Any suggestion?
Same issue on mine too, i've tried every solution on youtube or google, like performance settings - protected apps settings but they did not fix the issue. i just reboot the phone and it works normally for some hours and again reboot it and again, it's so boring :/
Install a Magazine Theme

i have this problem with my GX8 and i solved quickly doing this, it´s about the themes, and the activation of notifications on lockscreen, you need to install a theme (magazine) that allows to put notifications on lockscreen, you need to locate the option screen lock & passwords and select the option.
just activate performance mode
Dont optimize the apps under apps setting. This is normal on mm rom

Hello but what version do you have? because in gx8 lolipop this problem is solved with protected app.
When I upgrade mi phone to marshmallow protected app is not working, the problem persist, you get the message but the is no status bar notification, no sound, facebook messenger works but sometimes late.
