I want to buy a cheap cradle which can charging the moto. Please recommend.
looks silly since it appears that you need to take off the band so the thing can get to the pins. if you were able to leave on the band, then that might be cool.
Look on Amazon for Itian Qi Wireless Charging Cradle for Motorola Mobility Moto360 Smartwatch
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VNZAW6I?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01
I paid $15.50 and looks and looks and works like Moto OEM cradle. It does not include a charger but I use one of my Samsung chargers ... I really didn't need another. It looks exactly like the Moto; the only difference I could see is it shows a red light when charging and a blue light when charged or idle where the Moto has a white light. Also, the usb plug seemed to fit better than the Moto. So far, no problems. I'm not sure I'd trust it enough to leave the watch on it after charging but I don't trust many chargers to do that either.

A can attest that the above mentioned charger is perfect, if not better than the oem. I've already bought two of these after the oem USB port came loose thus unusable after ONE week of using. Didn't want to bother with sending it back.
Edit: To address the last sentence of the quoted post, I usually leave it charging overnight and I've never had one issue.
What the OP posted on Taobao is not a charging cradle. It's a device to flash the ticwear OS, whatever that is.
have anybody bought this one ? seems cool, but very difficult to deal with the web site since its powered with chinese.

Hey all. Recently broke my charger port. Im going over to wireless charging now for my main source of charging. What is the best kit for it? Been looking around for a good kit that isnt too boot leg.
I was thinking about getting this...

I think this is a forbidden topic. There's a Qi charging thread that's stickied and the last post just states that it's not allowed on this site. I think it's stupid to ban Qi wireless charging topics altogether because there's a few bad apples trying to hock their products here.
I just got a Nexus 7 2013 and since it has Qi charging capabilities built in, I decided to buy a charger. I found on the N7 section that the TYLT Vu is the best premium base so I ordered one from Tmo with a 30% discount code that still worked.
Since I was getting into wireless charging for my N7, I decided to look into it for my S3. I bought a cheap chinese knockoff receiver on ebay and while it works, it starts disconnecting/reconnecting after it gets to about 88%-90%. It still charges to 100% but it keeps disconnecting/reconnecting every 10 sec to 1 min with the associated notification beep each time. I turned the notification sounds off while charging until I find a real solution. So where else do I go to find issues with my phone other than XDA. Too bad they banned this topic. You'll have to go elsewhere to find recent and relevant info about current Qi wireless chargers and receivers.
I'd love to resolve this issue as wireless charging is frickin awesome!!!
I have a kit if you are interested..

my suggestion is to get the receiver pad from ebay and look online for the nokia qi charging plate. they go on sale for 25 bucks regularly.
I got one of the earlier Qi kits from one of the chinese manufacturers and while the receiver works really well, I can't say the same for the transmitter...
EDIT: Yes, the other sticky got closed down because despite requests for people to NOT hawk their products, some people ignored the request and in the end screwed everyone else that wanted to keep the thread as an informational source. Some people honestly don't care how many others they screwed over so they can hawk a few sales and blatantly disregard the rules.
I personally use this receiver. It charges perfectly through my lifeproof case.
I use this one:
w w w . fasttech.com/products/1139900
The sticker creates a slight buldge through the back cover but that never really annoyed me. Charging worked as advertised.
@ackzsel
I think I buy the same... Does it charge if you have a thin TPU case on the phone?

Shouldn't be a problem if it's thin. Charging range is a few centimeters.
Has anybody tested this with a genuine samsung 3000 mah battery ? I would really like to find a suitable one for mine with the 3000 mah kit.

probably wouldn't fit properly. the standard battery with the receiver pad already creates a bulge. the 3000mah battery is even thicker.

I have an S3 that I just converted to wireless charging. I see the same behavior of connecting / disconnecting when fully charged. The display is like a strobe light.
Are you saying that even with the TYLT VU the S3 still had this behavior?

5-8mm is the range for the charger to receiver for most systems. I have a UAG cover on mine and it works on both chargers I have. The 1-2mm the receiver bulged out made my UAG case crack though. Case still works at protecting the phone so I'm not too worried as I'll probably be upgrading soon (S5?).

Yes. If you follow the link from compro01, you'll see the charging base that works with it and it will work as it should. It's compact so it's also good for travelling. I got mine from eBay for $24 shipped. It came in a full retail package with a micro usb cable.
I picked up both of these units and have completed a number of charges on each of them. First let me say they both work great and charge my D851 without issue using a Diztronic TPU case. Both recognize the phone and immediately start charging without any Slow charging message. I am using the QI sticker that was sold here on the forums by iazybandit. In any case, I figured I'd share my thoughts on the two chargers as they do function a little different.
Tylt Vu Charger - ($35 presently at T-Mobile store)
I think the Vu is a quality built unit. It looks like a classy / slick stand and looks great on both a desk or nightstand. I have the black unit which has a nice black finish, etched with the Tylt logo on front. Again, to me it looks like a quality made product. The Vu comes with a 2 amp charger with one of those small power tips. This is the only way to provide power to the unit so must be careful as to not damage the tip. In any case, once you place the phone on the stand, charging will begin and a green light up front will come on to also designate that the phone is charging. With the VU, I noticed that once the phone is fully charged, it will continue to trickle charge the phone continuously. I used Battery Monitor Widget to verify this. Also, the green light on the front did not turn off, confirming again, the Vu was continuing to provide trickle charge. I say trickle charge as, again confirmed by Battery Monitor Widget, the temperature of phone was low and phone was cool to the touch. I personally am not sure I like this as not sure if this is eventually bad on the battery. However, this method should guarantee that you will always have a fully charged phone after a few hours. Charging rate is about 20 - 25% an hour.
Itian A6 - $32 on Amazon
The A6 looks like the Vu, but you can tell quickly it's a knock off. It looks cheap. Someone who has never seen a Vu can probably determine they are copying someone elses design. It lighter than the Vu and again, appears to have been made from cheap plastic. That said, it does functionally work. Similar to the Vu, it easily recognizes the G3 and begins charging. Again, no slow charging message here. Place the G3 in both horizontal and vertical position and regardless, the G3 began charging. Also similar to the Vu, there is a light up front that will begin to shine blue when charging. However, the A6 will shutdown once the phone has reached 100%. The light will shutoff and recorded in Battery Monitor Widget logs, charging had stopped. However, the A6 did automatically resume charging after about an hour or so for a few mins (10 mins or so.) Not sure if this was due to charge dropping on the phone or if it's A6 version of trickle charging. In any case, different than the Vu which appeared to provide a continuous charge. Will also mention, the A6 uses a micro usb 2 amp charger. This is kind of a plus as these are much readily available if there is ever a need to replace it; time will tell. Charging rate is about equal to the Vu, didn't really see any difference here. One annoying thing however, is the light on the front of the stand will shine red when there is no phone sitting on it. (Vu turns completely off). Not sure why this was done. The light is not bright or disturbing however I would think this would shorten the overall life of the bulb to be constantly on.
Tylt Vu
Pros:
Classy look
Quality build
Fast charging
Cons:
Proprietary charger
Continous trickle charge
Expensive. Normally $60-$100. $35 at T-Mobile while supplies last
A6
Pros:
Fast charging
Low Cost
Micro USB charger
Cons:
Cheap look / materials
Constant red light when not charging.
1-2 week order time. Comes directly from China
In any case, I do like them both. I am using the A6 at home and the Vu at work. The Vu looks nicer on my desk at work. If you can't seem to get the Vu at the discounted price at T-Mobile I would still recommend the A6. It does the job just as well. Hope this helps. Let me know if anyone has questions on either unit.

$35? On T-Mobile.com it's $69.99 and I called my local physical T-Mobile store and it's the same price there, too. Is this some kind of special deal that just expired?
You may need to go to the store and have then check it. Price was never updated online and in the stores the prices only showed up when checking out. Sales guys had no idea it was on sale until they scanned it upon checkout. Price tagged on unit was as you mentioned so if they only checked the price on the unit itself they may not know that it's on clearance

When I purchased mine the employees did not even know they sold it, and they also did not know it was on sale until it was scanned. So best bet is to actually walk into a Tmobile store.

Yeah, I called three stores in my area, none have it, sadly.
Hi guys!
I'm new to XDA (at least as an active user) and this is my first post. As probably most of you I like my Moto 360 not only, but also because it just looks elegant. And so I thought I need an appropriate docking station for it (dock, holder, stand - call it whatever you like) So I made my first "prototype" today and this is what it looks like (pictures attatched).
Right now it is just a modern holder made out of leather, wood and some metal parts.
In the next step I want to include wireless charging (already ordered electronic parts) and see if I can charge my moto 360 on it. What do you guys think? I manly did it because there simply is no other holder than the one from Motorola on the market right now.
Thanks for reading and have a great day!
That looks great! What got you thinking to make your own holder?

Thank you!
Well I mean the one from Motorola is also not bad, I like it! But I think this holder matches better to my phone (and its wristband). Also I have a lot of free time recently so I wanted to do something
Pretty cool! I'd been thinking about doing something like that myself, also out of wood and/or leather, because I love both materials.
In any case, it would be really nice if the Moto 360 was completely compatible with all Qi chargers, so that it would be an easy job to gut an existing Qi charger and stuff it into your own enclosure. The only problem is, I've found that the Moto 360 doesn't charge very well using any of the other chargers I've tried. It appears that the stock Motorola dock has some type of overheat protection and can more or less continuously charge the Moto 360 to full. With all the other Qi chargers I've tried, the Moto 360 seems to overheat and stop charging until it cools down. The result is that the watch will tend to stop charging, then continue charging, then stop, then start, and it takes much longer to charge to full. Sometimes, the charging doesn't continue until you take the watch off the charger and let it cool for a bit, even though the watch may show the charging screen.
Your best bet for now is to gut a standard Motorola dock, unless a third-party has managed to make a decent replacement. Good luck!
EDIT: Might be worth checking out this thread to see what Qi chargers would be a good idea to harvest for parts for your project: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-360/accessories/compatible-qi-chargers-t2874675
new charger
Look for "moto 360 charger" on etsy.com
What do you think of this?
The one in the zebrawood? Looks nice, but again, I'd be concerned about the actual charging components, unless they used parts from the Motorola dock.
Yes, the one with Zebra wood (I'm new here so they don't let me post external links yet).
I built this charger. I used a QI modul I found on the internet (not a finished product, just the electronic part) and a nice piece of wood from the wood store. As an adapter I first tried the one that comes with the original charger but that one seemed to be too weak so I used the one my Moto X came with. And I have to say it works pretty good. Since that I haven't had any issues yet. The watch charges in about 90 minutes from 0 to 100%. Yes, it does get warm, but not hot. And I think it also gets warm with the motorola charger.
If you have any other questions, let me know!
And thanks for the link to the other thread, I will post my charger there as well. :good:

I don't see how this has anything to do with this moto 360? The first line says 'Our new charging dock for*Apple*Watch' so why even post this?
There is a chance it could work with our devices since both are QI compliant, I suppose. I won't be spending $30 to find out, but if someone confirms it, I might...

because IT WORKS with my Moto-360 for charging it!, Duh?.... I received mine today.. it's very nice quality and my Galaxy Note 4 fits nicely in front, so far it shows charging of my Moto 360. I needed something that looked nicer than that clunky Motorola charger and the Griffin is reasonably priced against the Motorola charger with a plus in a phone stand too... I have only used it for a couple hours in charging.. will post later in the week how it works over a period of time..
Reminder.... Qi Charger puck
Just a reminder... You do need to have the Apple Watch Qi Charger puck... I happen to have one, so you may need to pick one up from Amazon $44 or there is a Chinese company that sells a cheaper version for $12.00...
I'm modifying my Griffin Watch stand with a fan in the Center to cool the Moto 360 watch when it's charging, I already did the mod to the original Motorola charger cradle by putting a fan under it, it made for a better charging setup of a cooler Moto 360...

I've had good luck with choetech products in the past. they have several wireless chargers, haven't tried any of the newer ones but they've pretty much been my go-to since the 6p and switching to usb c
This will be my first wireless charger.
Do we need to buy a certain type/spec or just buy any old wireless charger off of Amazon?
I'd like to find a slim matt-style to lay on my bedroom nightstand to just dump my phone on top of when I go to bed.
So in that sense, I'm fine with super slow charging.

it can do 10w, but in that case the older 5w ones will do. that said, back in the Nexus days I loved having the phone at an angle as a bedside clock (in fact, that's what my n7 is still primarily used for lol) so you may want to consider a stand charger.
So look for a 5W or 10W charger (or something in between), okay cool, thanks.
seriously yeah, I know that little about wireless.
Look for fast charge support and decide on a form factor. The small circles usually have a smaller sweet spot and by being smaller themselves make it easier for your phone to get bumped off of charge by kids, the dog, whatever, bumping the surface the charger is on. I'd consider spending a little more and getting a more stable platform rather than go with the small stuff. As said above if you want to see the phone on charge then you're going to need a vertical charger and you're going to need to decide if you want it in landscape or portrait and get a charger designed for that. If you're looking for a charger for use at a desk or in a working environment I would certainly lean toward upright so you can used your calculator and other tools while on charge. If you just want to flop it down to charge without any use of the phone then the lay flat versions tend to be cheaper.
Just bought two to try out on Amazon. Going to test them out on my Pixel 3 Xl and my ladies iPhone xs. Both chargers were under $20 each.

I just bought a pair of Nanami wireless stands from Amazon, 10 watts. It does do a fast charge, phone says charging rapidly. $26.00 with the charging brick, $16.00 without. I'm using the brick at my PC desk, and it's plugged into a 45 watt charger in my living room. Runs icy cool and really works well.
I say icy cool because I have an older Qi charger. The pad and the phone ran pretty warm which concerned me a bit.
The stand puts it at a nice viewing angle and makes the phone quite usable while charging.
This is NOT a paid endorsement
Lots of positive reviews.
There are standup wireless dock stations??
I need to Google this!
I have this one, it works and since I use it at night I don't care how long it takes to charge my phone.
AP has an article that says the Pixel 3 won't charge at more than 5W unless you have the Pixel stand. That's pretty lame on Google's part. It says the phone reports "charging rapidly" but really isn't. See here .
All of you might as well save your money and just get a decent one limited to 5w because that's what Google limited the pixel to for 3rd part wireless chargers

I can confirm that the Pixel Stand charges faster, but not the other fast wireless chargers that I have. The Seneo wireless charger that I have at my desk at work is only charging at ~500mA in spite of the fact that the phone indicates that it is "charging rapidly". I sincerely hope that Google fixes this and quickly.
