Sorry for being a n00b. I am not a rooting n00b, just a n00b when it comes to the new Samsung security features.
I have a Tmo Note 3. I want to install a custom ROM and recovery. I tried (and failed) to follow the instructions in the thread. I'm a bit ADD, so following all the redirects messed me up. Here is what I did:
1) Followed direction in the CF Auto root thread. This did give me root and that still works.
2) Installed TWIRP for Tmo Note 3. This install went fine until I rebooted
3) when I rebooted I got an error that my recovery was not stock and got stuck in a boot loop.
4) Gave up and flashed back to stock
I'm running Android 5.0, have root through CF, what do I need to do to get a custom recovery (don't really care which) and a ROM on my phone?
Thanks and sorry again for being a n00b.
Did you do this?
AFTER THE ROM IS FLASHED, THE PHONE WILL REBOOT AND YOU WILL SEE A BLUE BAR FOR A FEW SECONDS, AFTER THIS BLUE BAR DISAPPEARS, THE PHONE WILL REBOOT AGAIN; AT THIS MOMENT YOU MAY WANT TO BE READY AND BE ALREADY PRESSING VOLUME DOWN + HOME BUTTONS. THE IDEA BEHIND THIS, IS TO CATCH DOWNLOAD MODE BEFORE THE OS (LOLLIPOP) ACTUALLY BOOTS FOR THE FIRST TIME. THIS WILL SOLVE THE CF-AUTO-ROOT OR TWRP NOT STICKING REPORTED BY SOME USERS
Thanks

I have been using the i747z ROMs for quite some time and after trying a bunch of other ROMs I always reverted back to theirs. So when their 3.0 version came out with Android 4.3 I installed it, using ClockWorkMod recovery. Right after it installed, CWM displayed a message about the boot loader and to fix it. So I went ahead and did that (Don't really remember what the message was) What I know is that I lost root. Also the phone could not connect to the mobile network, only on Wifi. So this morning, I factory reset the phone again, and attempted to root the phone with Odin with CF-Auto-Root-d2att-d2uc-samsungsghi747 (which I had used when I first rooted the phone). Now the phone doesn't boot past the 2nd samsung logo, it starts out with the Samsung logo with the blue circle around it, then the AT&T Rethink Possible and then the plain white Samsung logo. Also, the LED has a slow blue flicker.
I can get the phone into download mode and I have used Odin to attempt to load the stock firmware and the stock bootloader. But after restarting the phone I can't get past the same screen described above.
I am pretty sure this is not related to the i747z v3.0 ROM but rather something a miss with the order in which things need to start in Android. I have done some reading on that but I am not sure what I need to do to correct this soft brick situation. ( I have googled "soft brick" as well)
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

After flashing through odin did you format data?If not try it.
Go into recovery and wipe data.
**SOLVED**
Thanks xXFl4sh, I had tried that.
Solved!
Alright where do I start? How about RTFM Some how I had missed the part about flashing a bootloader and a modem after the ROM. Not recalling having to do that before, I skipped right over it. Once the recovery CWM 6.0.3.1 was finally loaded, getting the flashing the ROM, the bootloader and the modem was easy as usual.
The key was having to use Odin to install a recovery in .tar or .tar.md5 format since I could not access a Recovery Mode on the GS3, as well as a rooted stock image (I used root66_ATT_I747UCDLK3.tar.md5 which is a rooted Android 4.1.1 for AT&T) For the recovery, I couldnt' find a .tar or .tar.md5 for ClockWorkMod (did find a utility to convert it, but didn't want to introduce another variable into the mix) so I used one from Team Win Recovery (v2.6.3.0) and with that I loaded the CWM recovery. Once all of that was in place, I proceed to factory reset, clear data, cache, system and then flash the new ROM, bootloader and modem.
In all of this I learned quite a bit about the whole process and how to narrow down possible resolutions. I still see the "Rom may flash stock recovery on boot" message after flashing either a ROM, bootloader or modem, but just backing out without answering Yes or No seems to work. Also (and this may be related, I don't see the option to restart in recovery from shutdown menu). Don't really know what that's all about for now, and honestly don't want to mess around (at least for a while)
I know the steps are general, but I hope this can help some else if they get their devices in a soft brick situation. As for the i747z v3 ROM with 4.3, I really like it, everything works (Wifi,Blutooth, tethering) and the battery seems good as well.
Thanks!
I rooted my LG Optimus G Pro 4.4.2 via TowelRoot, installed SphinX, FreeGee, and installed TWRP recovery. I then flashed Cyanogenmod 10.2, and it (seemingly) worked well. However, I seem to have lost the ability to call others and recieve calls, but texting works, and I am disappointed with the battery life. It seems to not support reading the tilt of the phone, which I use with some of my paid for games.
So I flashed Beanstalk, and the installation seemed to work well, but on the reboot (after I had wiped before install and after, before rebooting) it gave error messages saying google services closed, and wizard closed. It gave me the option to report on both issues, but each time I closed one error window, the other would pop up, like in an endless loop. So, thankfully, reboot into recovery was a power button option in that rom (wish they all did that) and I then flashed back to CyanogenMod10.2. So I then decided to update Cyanogen to 12 via the built-in upgrade, and it also did the same thing, giving the same error messages in a continuous loop. So I finally was able to power up into recovery (for some reason, it seems to not work every time after shutting the phone off).
I am wondering if I can just flash back to the stock, and then debloat, or, better yet, can I just flash 4.1.2 to this device (I don't know if it ever had that OS) then root and debloat, as I do wish to use my wiimote. I have looked at the various methods to return to stock, but they seem to be quite confusing, as I don't read text-type very well, and most of the descriptions are typed this way. I would appreciate any assistance with getting these issues taken care of.
supersu unroot
Sorry for the double post, but I read that using supersu to unroot would brick the phone. Will this method simply return the phone to stock, or will it damage it?
Ok, so if I am understanding this correctly, to return an e390 to stock, you:
1. download and unzip the lg flashtool
2. download and install current lg drivers
3. download the dll and stock image
4. put phone into download mode and then plug into computer
5. run flashtool + make sure device manager port is com41
6. select dll and firmware, and finish
7. flash the modem-can this only be done with root?
What is step 7? Flash what modem?
Please don't refer me to any more threads or forums........
I'm sure this has been done and done and talked about but I've been reading the **** out of forums and comments for a few hours now and trying to unroot my Sprint LG G2.
I had it running stock like a champ. rooted it. worked great. then I was attempting to flash lollipop and it required a recovery update (No Problem) I downloaded the correct files and bam! it says your phone is not rooted this requires a root (or something like that) I was already rooted SuperSU installed and root checker said I was fine. so what the hell I swipe to root while inside recovery and it goes to some black screen with tiny text saying fastboot: processing commands and won't leave the screen. I tried booting into recovery and same thing happens. Tried to reboot normal and I'm stuck on the LG logo with my led flashing between blue and green slowly. I CAN boot into download mode and I'm following this

to unbrick but having this error "Failed PreviousLoad()
Did I not get the right .dll file? I doubt it cause I only saw one...or is it the wrong .tot file? there was 3 or so

When i'm in download mode the phone does say I am rooted. is there a way to just re-flash recovery and restore from my backups I did before all this? if I have to wipe this thing clean and start over I don't really mind I just need to get my phone back haha this is the first time this has ever happened to me and I consider myself tech savvy so idk what I did here (except re rooting in recovery like an idiot) thanks so much!
First question, is the download mode you see with a small status bar or the big one?
If you have the big one, download mode should work. The f flash software will verify the tot file. If that goes through you should be golden.
When it asked you in TWRP to root, that is a message telling you system or ROM file did not take.
If you want cm12, use zv8 tot. Root, auto-rec, update TWRP with blastgator bumped TWRP 2.5.1. Flash cm ROM or aosp, then gapps. And go
Hello all. This is my first thread because I'm new to this phone modding.
So here goes.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 on Vodafone SM-N910F.
Its a lovely phone except I'm bored of it so have decided to flash a new rom.
I used odin to root, then downloaded 'DR KETAN's rom to flash, however it wouldn't boot into recovery.
When it eventually did, and 'DR KETAN' installed, my phone was shoved into a boot loop.
So after a re-flash of the stock rom and a re-root, I now can't boot into recovery again to try again.
Either manually or using an app, to get into to recovery, I get a picture of the little android man, saying android is upgrading (or updating) I can't remember. Then it comes up with a menu which isn't recovery. And I get the message
'DM-VERITY VERIFICATION FAILED'
Please help me.
Someone run me through what I should do, every step if the way because I literally am stuck
(And dumb it down a bit for a Newby please)
Hello everyone,
So I am very new to the concepts of rooting and custom roms, and I know I should have done some more research before I started. But now I have gotten myself into a bit of a pickle. I have the SM-G920P (Sprint) S6 and earlier this week I managed to root the phone and use TWRP to download and flash a custom rom. I used MD5: 7c1d34f7ab066104c924fb7a960b57d0 to install Renegade and then the phone booted just fine. I made the mistake afterwords when I let the phone reboot, but I had not turned on the option for OEM so now my phone is stuck in a boot that gives me a FRM lock because of the custom binary. It will not let me get into the andriod recovery (volume up, home, and power) but I can get to the download mode. I cannot seem to get any firmware to flash onto the device because I always get a fail after NAND write. Any help or direction from here would be great, Thanks.

Hi, we'll walk you through it.
First off, use the PF4 firmware from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...uide-links-files-update-root-restore-t3366862
Be sure to allow it to complete and it should reboot. If you continue to get NAND write errors you may need to try different ports on your PC or different cables.
Let us know when that completes for you.
