OE1 SIM Unlock? - Sprint Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Sorry in advance!
I just got my N910P.05 in the mail today and I'm trying to unlock the SIM to use with ATT.
I turned the phone on, connected to wifi and *boom* OE1.........
I've been scouring everywhere to find a ROM/unlock method but I'm unfamiliar with Samsung devices and I couldn't find a 'concise' thread.
Sorry for such a vague question and thanks XDA/DEVS!

I don't believe any DSU (domestic SIM unlock) methods have been found for the Note 4. Sprint will unlock for international use, but not domestic. Sorry.

First you'll have to get it unlocked. From there you simply need to set your APNs to the carrier you're using the phone with.
The *free* unlock method doesn't work once you've updated your bootloaders (from JB). That being said, you can ask your carrier for the unlock code for your phone (worth a shot).
Sim unlocking is an easy problem to solve by getting a code. A bigger problem is enabling AWS on KK.
yeah the Sim unlock I'll pay and get it done thats no issue. the real problem is the aws. Is there any work around I can use?

How do I SIM unlock

Brusington said:
With a carrier unlock, all the carrier is doing is releasing the phones IMEI*(International Mobile Equipment Identity) number so that is can be activated with other carriers. It's merely database related and nothing more. Does not affect the bootloader or anything like that in any way.
The only time that code works is when you put the other carriers SIM is in your phone. It will ask that 'code' then.

They're not "releasing the IMEI" and it is not "database related." You confused SIM unlocking with IMEI blacklisting, when a carrier marks a phone's IMEI as stolen and blocks it from their network via blacklist, which is shared among carriers. A SIM unlock, which is what we're discussing, permits the phone's baseband to accept SIM cards with network IDs other than originating carrier, and is done on the handset itself. Don't spread misinformation, please.
In the case of the T-Mobile variant (H811), the ability to input a SIM unlock code was removed and a custom unlock application was installed instead which communicates with T-Mobile's servers to verify the handset is eligible for SIM unlock and then performing the unlock itself if requirements are met.

We're specifically talking about T-Mobile devices. If Sprint has its own remote SIM unlock app, that's a totally different conversation.

I have no idea what Sprint does on their devices, since they're CDMA/GSM/LTE hybrids. If there is a preloaded SIM unlock app, you can help us by telling us the unlock app package name and perhaps posting some screenshots of the app and its various options.

Yes, people, including me, are having problems like this to varying degrees. However, this is not the thread to be discussing them. Please look in the help sub forums for the g4.

i thought this was just tmo and sprint that did this.
the person you quoted was responding to someone with an AT&T variant.
is at&t also doing this?
also, the tmo and spr phones do not accept the typical unlock codes... so it's not a matter of finding the hidden menu. unlock will require a totally different method.
for sprint users... once rooted you can edit the build.prop which opens the phone up.

My usual method of getting my phone unlocked is to call up the carrier, explain that I am traveling overseas and I would like to use a foreign sim card and I get the unlock code within a day or two. I have been doing this for over 10 years without issue. I often travel overseas for work and that is the easiest option for me. However AT&T refuses to give me the unlock code for the G4 despite me buying the phone outright, having a prepaid account, and have been with them for over 3 years. What is going on here???? Has anyone had this issue?

This can only be done by the US carrier associated with the device. It can also be done by some third party outfits, but you will need to check the web for "SIM unlock code"
AS mentioned earlier the carrier will do this at no charge 99% of the time.

OK- I got my Verizon Pixel XL 128 in today at lunch. I set it on the charger, and haven't turned it on yet. I wanted to see what was going on with the Forums before I did. I do have a spare TMobile Sim I can use. I also still have my 3rd version of the Note 7 (That hasn't even gotten the slightest bit hot)... so I am not in a hurry to activate the Pixel XL 128.
If you give me directions, I will perform whatever steps you'd like and report back. If you'd like message me... I can provide my cell and we can talk through it-
Thanx-
Darin

New USA unlocked SM-G960U1 cannot be used on Verizon

Just bought an unlocked SM-G960U1 from Samsung.com. I used my active SIM card from the old Moto G4 on the S9 and it didn't work. Checked IMEI with Verizon and it said the phone should work perfectly with their network. I talked to tech service by phone and they told me to look for LTE/CDMA in Settings but I only have LTE/3G/2G and such. in settings. What is wrong with the phone? Is it a real unlocked one or they shipped me a wrong model? Please help. Thanks.
Reset the APN settings
then reboot the phone
and make sure you have store bought sim, they do update SIM models and sometimes it can matter.

Thanks for answering. I reset all APNs to default and reboot but it didn't work. It seems the phone does have any setting related to CDMA network.
That phone is perfect for Tmobile and Metro PCS ...

Yep there is definitely something wrong. Maybe I missed it but I don't see where you mentioned getting a new sim. The best option would be going into a Verizon store and getting them to put in a new sim. If that isn't possible get them to send you a new sim.

Thanks for the reply. I am using my existing sim card which was purchased two years ago. I will visit a Verizon shop and see if a new sim can do the trick.
